As much as a I love The Conductor and Maya as a villain (killing copies of your wife til you get the "right one" when that one doesn't even exist is super fucked and very cool), I am deeply saddened at the fact the Vex are, once again, used as a tool for a not-Vex antagonist. Someone in our discord mentioned they could've just had the Echo hit a Vex goblin on the head, and have it struggle and lash out with its newly gained sentience, agency, self-determination, etc, and ive been thinking about it ever since.

What would happen if a part of a whole asked, "What do I want?"

How would a collection of micro organisms piloting a robotic chassis react to feeling an emotion™ for the first time?

How would a colony of organisms define "self?"

How would it separate from The Collective? Would it have to when it could control them with a thought? It could simply bend the Collective to it.

Would it see wonder and love in the life around it or imperfection and sorrow in the death that follows?

I'd be fucking locked in on this villain.

cause it took me an hour and 30 mins to finish it (most of which was the final boss) and I'm not even satisfied. Like I died so many times and I just don't feel happy that I'm done I'm glad to be done with it but just

So on my playthrough of Encore: Coda, this line from the Conductor hit me as *really* familiar. Because it's a reference to the Legacy's Oath Titan mark. The one which features Saint's dream of the Deep Stone Crypt.

So uh... that's a whole thing... it's too close to not be intentional...
