Summary: After nearly 10 years of avoiding his family. Castiel has to attend Alfie's 18th birthday. But after a new waiter spices things up, maybe it'll turn out for the better.

A/n: SO FUCKING PISSED AT TUMBLR RN THE FIRST TIME I POSTED THIS THE ENTIRE THING WASN'T THERE AND I COULDN'T FIND IT IN MY DRAFTS SO I REWROTE THIS SHIT. UGHHHH.

Castiel tugged at his collar as he rehearsed in his head what he was going to say. Or rather not say. He wasn't going to tell his brothers about art school. Definitely not going to mention his relationships. Or the tattoo. He basically wasn't going to say anything and just smile and wave as he liked to put it.

The dinner was going to be terrible but he was going for Alfie, it's the least he could do for leaving his brother with Michael. Alfie was always nice to Castiel and unlike him he listened to his brothers. Castiel however left the night he turned 18 and never looked back.

Castiel opened the door to Crowley's and rolled his eyes. Dim lit, the place had an orchestra in nearly every corner and bunch of snobby rich people trying to "out rich" each other. He glanced down at his suit and trenchcoat. Michael definitely wouldn't approve. Not that he needed it anyway.

Castiel looked around the room but saw no sign of his brothers. Soon he went up to the counter and asked for their registration. His brothers had booked the entire top floor of the hotel. All for a birthday dinner. His brothers weren't wasting any time spending all of the fortune their father left.

Castiel hadn't touched his. He didn't know what to do with it. Paying for art school was done through some paintings he drew that sold for enough money.

Castiel's feet tapped on the marble steps as he made his way upstairs. Reaching the top of the room his eyes widened at the place. There were two chandeliers taking up the ceiling. And all across the walls were angles. His family was very religious and angels were a common theme growing up. He remembered some from church. Castiel was named after the Angel of Thursday.

He saw Gabe walking towards him and smiled.

Gabriel pulled him into a hug. His sugar obsessed older brother was the only one Castiel remained in contact with.

"How's it going Cassie?," He said sucking loudly in his lollipop.

Castiel winced at the horrible nickname

" I'm fine and I hope you are as well. How's Sam?" Sam was Gabe's boyfriend and the complete opposite of him. Castiel loved Sam, he was the brother he never had.

But Sam was a secret only he and Alfie knew. As much as Gabe loved Sam he wanted to keep the family together. So Sam would stay a secret which had been decided a long time ago.

"Sam's great, I'm great..his brother is also pretty great..." Gabe said wiggling his eyebrows.

"I already told you, I don't need to drag someone into my life right now." Cas replied rolling his eyes.

"Anyways where is everyone?" He asked searching the room. He glanced at his watch it was almost 7. Michael was never late.

"Luci's running late, Michael's pissed, Raphael doesn't care, and Alfie wishes he wasn't related to us. So everything's great!" Gabe said cheerfully

"Why on Earth would Michael let Lucifer be in charge of driving them?"

"Alfie crashed the car last week so that's the only way really."

Before Cas could ask Gabe to elaborate. Thundering footsteps filled the hall.

Cas had to try really hard to not laugh at the sight before him.

Michael was drenched with a sheepish Lucifer in tow. Alfie was trying not to smile and Raphael looked as distant as ever. Even though he could have sworn he saw a smile.

Michael morphed his face into the constipated smile he usually had and asked

"I hope you're well Castiel."

"Yeah you too." Cas said not wanting to talk to him.

He brushed past his brother and walked to Alfie who was standing there awkwardly.

"Hey Alfie how are you?" He asked smiling softly.

"I'm good Cas, what about you?" Alfie said.

"Fine as well." To which Alfie pulled Castiel into a tight hug. Castiel was surprised at his strength. He definitely was getting older.

Castiel pulled out of his trenchcoat paintbrushes and handed them to Alfie," I hope you still like to paint." He said smiling

Alfie's face lit up. "Of course! Thanks you so much Cas."

Michael cleared his throat,"Then let's eat shall we?"

As if on cue, a waiter entered the hall. Castiel turned to face him and nearly fainted.

The man had almond colored hair and stubble along his jaw. He was muscular but not bulky and definitely taller than Castiel. His green eyes bore into Cas as he obviously hated it here. He looked unbelievably uncomfortable with his setting. His lips were so pink that it took all of Castiel's will power not to leap across the room.

Castiel carefully walked to his seat feeling very lightheaded. Thankfully he sat down next to Alfie and Gabe.

"Hey y'all the names Dean and I'll be your server today." His voice sounded like honey to Castiel.

He passed out menus and whipped out a note pad.

"So what'll y'all have to drink?" He asked looking expectantly at Castiel.

Castiel was surprised at his informality. Dean didn't pay attention to any of that formality it seemed.

"Well I'll take a shirley temple,Dean," Gabe said.

Castiel had a killer headache. Whiskey it is. "I'll take a whiskey," he said. He didn't know why but Dean smirked at that.

Alfie ordered a shirley temple as well. While the rest of his brothers ordered white wine.

Dean bit his lip while writing the drinks down.

Castiel almost let out a moan. Damn that was hot. His face immediately turned pink when Dean looked at him smirking.

After they ordered food and Cas drooled over Dean some more. Michael cleared his throat.

"So do you have any change of heart regarding certain beliefs?"

Cas stared at him coldly," No and I never will Michael."

The entire table tensed at the conversation.

Familiar footsteps were heard once again. Damn he really did have impeccable timing.

Dean handed Cas his plate first. "Careful it's hot too." He said with a signature smirk.

"Too?"

Dean proceeded to touch Castiel's shoulder and make a sizzling sound.

The next few minutes were chaos.

Castiel blushed so hard he was radiating heat.

Michael choked on his wine.

Lucifer spit out his wine all over Michael.

Raphael laughed.

Gabriel loudly declared," THAT'S MY BOY."

Alfie once again hid his smile.

Dean made the call me sign while giving Castiel a napkin with his number on it.

After that incident Michael, Lucifer and Raphael left very quickly.

Gabriel offered to drop Alfie.

Gabriel then leaned over and said, "By the way that's Sam's brother."

Castiel replied," Jesus Gabe you could have mentioned that he's hot!"

Gabriel laughed," So should I tell him that you'll meet him tomorrow?"

Hello and Welcome!

I’ve gained some followers recently, I like to do a welcome post, with my standard “this is me” and any up to date info.  

Currently, my blog is in process of being organized. I have several masterpages for things set up, making it easier to find this and that. Some of them are blank, some of them are partially filled, it’s getting there.

Onto the standard blah blah blah -

First an foremost I’m a housewife and mom, autism mom, working from home.

I do art! Fanart, general art, art art art!  Which is mostly buried in my blog, hence the master pages I’m attempting to start.  

While I intend for my blog to be multifandom, I’m currently living and breathing Supernatural and Shadowhunters, so that’s mostly what you’ll find currently.  Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Miraculous Ladybug and Star Trek have made appearances and more will follow.

I ship ALL THE SHIPS, there are very few that I am weirded out by,  and if I don’t like something I keep scrolling. To each their own, as far as characters and ships that they like. I expect the same courtesy from my followers, if you don’t like a ship or character I draw or reblog, simply ignore it and keep scrolling.

I love all you wonderful fanfic writers who bring so much happiness to me with your words.

Graphic artists, with your edits and aesthetics warm my heart. Traditional artists, well, i’m right there with ya!  I’ve seen work that has left me FLOORED and i love seeing other people’s creations.

Film editors with your fanvids, I’ve lost HOURS (*coughs*DAYS*ahem*) on youtube thanks to y’all!  Don’t regret any of it!

Onto the serious stuff:

I keep a happy house here, meaning if you’re going to spread hate on my blog, just go somewhere else.  I try to be inspiring, I try to be loving, I try to be kind.

This goes for porn as well, go somewhere else, don’t follow me if your blog is just you naked showing whatever to the camera. I will block you. DO NOT comment on my artwork, advertising your porn blog.

My blog is a safe space for all, your ethnicity, religion, sexuality, gender identity, age, etc.  You’re safe here, as long as you’re not hateful to anyone else here.

I do my best to tag things, but I kind of suck at knowing what to tag.  I also try not to reblog any NSFW images, however I do reblog occasional fic with the proper tags.

I don’t do hate, I don’t reblog it, I won’t give you your 15 seconds of fame. If anyone sends me hate, just so ya know, i won’t dignify it with a response. Noone tells me what to create, who to like, what to fight for, if you don’t like what I post, unfollow me. No offense taken.

I’m on other social media.  My professional artist type stuff is all on myfacebook business page , which occasionally overflows into mytwitterand instagram when I remember to post there.   But I link nothing to my tumblr, because tumblr is my space to be my geeky self and be around folks who are just as weird as I can be. Summary: The tree. That's it that's the whole story.

It's always been about the tree.

Dean probably wouldn't have met Cas without the tree.

So yeah, the tree is pretty damn important.

Maybe that's why Dean decided to go to the lonely tree in the park 22 years ago, because he felt drawn to it. There was something about that tree because if Dean needed Cas or Cas needed Dean, all they had to do was go to the tree and the other one would appear. Like they were drawn to it.

Or maybe because he was curious why there was a little kid sitting there, all alone.

But Dean's pretty damn happy he did.

The kid sitting there was scrawny and had messy black hair with huge blue eyes but he was weird, like really weird.

For one, he was obsessed with wings. Freaking wings man, what 5 year old is obsessed with wings? Not even regular ones, huge black ones, that he repeatedly drew over and over again.

Dean made fun of him for it.

But as fate would have it, Dean ended up being the one who tattooed the same wings on his back.

He went to Cas every day after that, every moment he could go to the park, he would. When they were younger they would play, play to keep their demons away. Dean and Castiel were content. They carved their initials on the trees, because they're going to be best friends forever. Dean had decided so, a long time ago.

But as they grew older, they'd talk, talk for hours, about nothing in particular, especially when the demons became over bearing.

Sometimes about their shitty homelives.

Sometimes about the possibilities of a brighter future.

Sometimes absolutely nothing, just engulfed in the feeling of each other's presence. Simply being around each other was enough.

Castiel soon grew out of his lanky form, replaced with lean and slender one. Dean stayed the same, although he got a bit taller.

They were both a sight for sore eyes. Well, at least that's what Dean always teased Cas about.

Soon, highschool took its toll on Castiel and Dean, they were both too busy to see each other and lost contact. But on a particularly bad day, when Dean and his father had a huge fight he stormed off angrily to the park and cried near the tree. He sprawled out on the grass and cried his heart out, because his father wouldn't accept Dean. For liking guys. And it fucking hurt. It hurt a lot.

But this time Castiel wasn't here to console him. Funny because Castiel was the reason he came out to his dad.

Dean heard Castiel before he saw him.

"Oh my god, Dean? What are you doing here? It's 10 o' clock? I came here because I had this horrible feeling today and I couldn't shake it off so naturally I came he-Are you crying?"

Castiel looked like a mess, hair plastered all over his face and eyes wide, but Dean couldn't care less because he needed Castiel right now.

Dean threw his arms around Cas and sobbed for god knows how long. But it was long enough.

Dean told Castiel everything, from his crush on Castiel that had taken him forever to accept from his dad practically kicking Dean out of the house for being fucking gay. As if he was some sort of killer or disappointment.

Castiel silently listened. Then he cupped Dean's face,

"Dean, I love you, I have since we were 5, from the moment I saw you to now I've always loved you."

"And if you ever need a roof over your head, my house is open, well I could probably sneak you in there and Gabe wouldn't tell but we'd have to watch out for Ba-"

Then Dean kissed him.

He didn't why but he just kissed Castiel because in that moment he was being too innocent and sweet for Dean to handle.

Now 22 years later, sitting near the tree Dean smiled softly at the engraving of their initials.

Just one problem.

It was supposed to be a joke.A harmless prank.

But Castiel fucking Novak had to actually fall for it. Or maybe Dean did. Now they were both sitting in a jail cell.

Let's go to the beginning, shall we?

Castiel was a transfer student starting 10th grade at Lettermen High. He also managed to make the Varsity Football team.

Dean was the only other sophmore on the team. Thus began their competitiveness.

If Dean was in honors, Castiel needed to be in AP.

If Dean scored a touch down, Castiel needed 2.

If Dean had a girlfriend, so did Castiel.

After all, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.

But what made it worse was that Castiel didn't even notice any of it. He didn't pay any attention to Dean.

Dean wasn't sure if it was those blue eyes that bore into his soul, not giving any fucks or his messy hair that pissed Dean off. Was Dean just reading into it too much?

But he needed to end it. All this shit.

It was driving him insane.

He was supposed to be the golden boy.

Perfect girlfriend.

Decent grades.

Star quarter-back.

Castiel wasn't going to fuck that up.So the senior year, he decided to play a prank.

Ghost the guy, text him.

And things went downhill from there. Because infact Castiel wasn't actually that bad.

He started talking to Castiel on a Thursday. Beautiful day that started a horrible thing.

*texts from Day 1*

Dean: R u Castiel?

Castiel: Yes, who are you?

Dean: I go to Lettermen.

Castiel: As do I

Dean: Want to get to know each other more?

Castiel: Sure? But I really don't know who you are.

Dean: That's the point.

Castiel: ok

Dean: Punch Dean W tmrw

Castiel: why?

Dean: just do it, I promise you'll get closer to knowing who I am.

Castiel: but?

Dean: Tmrw you can make me do something

Castiel: okay.

The next day....

Sure enough, Castiel Novak walked up to Dean during lunch, eyes ablaze with determination punched him in the face. The cafeteria howled but Dean smirked at Castiel.

A quick left hook.

It hurt like a son of a bitch.But that proved one thing.

Dean was going to have fun with this.

So much fun.

*Day 2 texts*

Dean: wow u actually did it.

Castiel: yeah

Dean: ur turn

Castiel: come to the game tomorrow

Dean laughed, he sort of had to, after all the star quarter back couldn't miss the game.

Dean: sure

Castiel: will I see u there?

Dean: I'll be in a Jersey.

Castiel: number?

Dean: can't say

The game was a rough one. Dean fumbled a bit, but he was back on track. He wondered why he was so nervous.It wasn't against a rival.Maybe just nerves from school.

But he felt a weird sensation when he saw Castiel looking around the field.

Was it pity? Or was it satisfaction?

He wasn't sure.

His eyes drifted to Dean's, and Dean smirked, Castiel averted his gaze, ears pink.

What was that?

*Day 3 Messages*

Castiel: I didn't see you

Dean: yeah you did

Castiel: ?

Dean: trust me u did

Castiel: why didn't you say anything?

Dean: not ready to tell you my name yet

Castiel: anyways your turn

Dean: bring me pie tomorrow

Castiel:??

Dean: just bring pie tomorrow

The next day,Castiel brought pie.

Dean devoured it.

Castiel looked like he wanted to protest but looked utterly repulsed at Dean's rate of inhaling the pie.

So Castiel walked away. Sticking his middle finger up at Dean.

The game lasted for the next 3 months.

Castiel wasn't that bad.

He was perfect actually.

Not that Dean would ever admit it.

Then they upped the game.

The dares started to become more dangerous.

Dean: "I dare you to steal Mr. Crowley's phone."

Castiel: "I dare you to buy the entire stack of cupcakes from the bakesale."

The very last dare that they did was actually one of Dean's.

Dean dared Castiel to climb on top of the school and scream,"Who are you?"

And the fucker did it.

But apparently school's didn't like when student's climbed up to the roof. Especially at 2 AM.

So Dean saw him do it, watched from behind a tree, stared at the idiot in awe.

And in that moment Dean finally realized.

He was obviously smitten.Completely in love with Castiel Novak.

Dean waved at him, awkwardly of course. Dean saw Castiel squint at Dean and then his jaw go slack. He screamed,"You?"

Dean grinned,"Who did you expect?"

And sitting in the jail cell, Dean smiled softly at Castiel who had fallen asleep on his shoulder.
