But the android had been a pushover since day one. So figuring that the worst he'd get was a glare, Gavin felt no need to restrain himself as he put a straw to his lips and blew the spit covered wad of paper out of it and in the android's general direction.

Working with Detective Reed was ... not exactly hard, Nines would say. The detective was a very capable and intelligent one. The android admired his keen perception and ability to come to conclusions, as long as it was case related. 

However, during downtimes, he could be a real pain in the ass, like the humans loved to say. The spit ball hit Nines right at his temple. If he was human, he would have been disgusted. But he was not. He was an android, designed with a forensic lab in his mouth. 

Slowly he turned towards Gavin, picked the paper ball from his temple and... ran it over his tongue, before he dropped it into the trash can. All while holding eye contact. “Thank you for your sample, detective. You should brush your teeth better.”

Gavin was facing the android. He was looking straight at its blue eyes, with a strange, frozen smile. But there was something strange. The man was wearing a black and white maid dress.. The sexy one, with lace, ribbon and bodice. His legs were dressed with dark stoking and he was wearing a pair of black high heels. Some garter belts could be seen under the skirt and he was clearly wearing a bra.

The detective approached the android, and he managed to bend over its desk, making a part of his lingerie appeared. His smiled increased while he whispered. “How may I serve you, Master..?”

The Androids mouth gaped open as soon as he became aware of the detectives attire which was not very fitting for a normal work day. He could feel his thirium pump speeding up. This was so dumb, why even giving mechanical lifeforms the ability to have a faster heartbeat when they got... excited? It made no sense and was probably a joke from the creator.

RK900 cleared his throat which was just as unnecessary as a speedup heartbeat. “What’s gotten into you, detective? This is hardly appropriate for the workplace.” He said as  calm as possible but there was such an obvious tremble in his voice as his face was obviously tinged dark blue from blush.

He tried to take his eyes off the man but they were glued onto him, trailing from the cleavage to the garter belts to the stoking and back up. Never since he was activated, had the android ever felt a bigger urge to run away. He did not understand what was going on, what this human triggered in him.

“Yes, but what elvish are we talking about?” He was already downloading as many elvish translator tools he could find. If Gavin asked something like that, it had a reason. 

If he had to guess, Gavin was talking about Sindarin or Quenya, but there were an endless supply of fantasy games, movies and books and most of them came with their own invented language.

The android sputtered when he heard this question. That came out of nowhere! “Ah.. what.. what makes you think that?” he asked confused and rerolled most of their previous conversations. Had he ever said something like that? Or even only implied it? Because he loved Gavin just how he was, but he would also love him if he gained weight or decided to lose some. Gavin was perfect no matter the size, because it would still be Gavin.

Right from the head tilt Gavin was bound to be upset. The fucker already looked enough like Connor as is without mimicking his stupid movements," I'm not dying," he hissed, more than a little unnerved at the androids assessment. His own death was the last thing he wanted to think about. He had nothing to say to the rest of that, or rather he didn't know what to say. He'd been put in quite the predicament. On one hand, agreeing was admitting to flaws. On the other, agreeing meant saying the android was right, something Gavin was far too prideful to do.

"This conversation is over, tincan. Go make friends with a furby or some shit. They're just as creepy."

It seemed like Nines wanted to say something, but he decided against it. There was no use in agitating Gavin any further. He just nodded and got up.

A few moments later, he returned and put a cup of coffee on the Detective's desk. "I made friends with the coffee machine. She says she likes you." he said and winked at the detective, before returning to his own desk

"Yea, yea whatever," Gavin waved his hand dismissively, already skimming the files. As far as he was concerned the conversation was over. That was of course until the android responded.

His gaze snapped back onto the android, a look of disbelief in his eyes," And just what the fuck is that supposed to mean? What imperfections?" As far as Gavin was concerned that had been a personal attack," I don't have imperfections, you on the other hand are flawed to the core." If that was an arrogant thing to say, Gavin refused to even internally acknowledge it.

The android tilted his head in a very 'Connor-like' way. It was supposed to be some light teasing, but the detective had to take it personally. "You are a human, detective. You basically started dying after you reached the age of 25. I would say that is a huge imperfection. And of course I am aware that I am flawed, I was created by a flawed species. Besides that, I'm a deviant. And emotions are another gross flaw, wouldn't you agree?"

Nines pondered for a moment before he imitated the sound of a real life cat "Mirau?"

Gavin let out an irritated grunt as he checked for the files, they were in fact on his computer,"You should've told me that before I even approached," he grumbled. Truthfully the man was more annoyed at the android's lack of reaction than anything else. How was he supposed to have fun if his target didn't fight back? It was an increasingly frustrating problem with his so called partner, Gavin was determined to find a button to push.

"Wipe that stupid smile off your face, you look like a damn idiot."

There was no reason to fight back just yet. Nines wanted to lead by example, clam, collected, friendly, everything a perfect coworker should be. He would only resort to violence when it was absolutely necessary.

"I'm very sorry, detective Reed, I will make a note to inform you whenever a task, you have given me, is finished." but he already knew how this would go. After a few times, Gavin would be annoyed and tell him he didn't have to inform him about every pen stroke he was doing. And when the time came, he would apologize, tell him that he would stop it and then rinse and repeat.

"I'm sorry my appearance seems to bother you, but I'm afraid we have to get used to each other's imperfections as the time goes by." he said, and the smile turned into a mischievous smirk.

"Yo tincan," Gavin sneered, tossing a crumpled piece of paper at the android's head,"You get those files I asked for or not?"

Could he have prevented the paper ball from hitting his head? Yes, without a doubt. His programming and reflexes were fast enough. But why rob his partner of that simple satisfaction? It didn’t bother him, and maybe it would elevate Gavins stress level. Maybe it would give him serotonin even! So there was no harm in it.

The paper hit and bounced off the android, falling to the floor. Nines bowed down, picked it up and threw it into the trash. "They are already on your PC, if you just would care to take a look, detective." he said with a friendly smile. No matter how badly his partner would treat him, he would continue to be friendly. It was what he was supposed to do.

For a split second the LED on his temple went red. For a pinch of a second he had the feeling his thirium pump skipped a beat, of course it didn’t, but it felt like it. Because for some odd reason, he thought Gavin was going to break up with him. Which was absolutely, insanely dumb. He knew what Gavin was going to tell him, or at least he hoped that this was it. Sometimes he just hated being alive, because it meant he could feel anxiety. 

“Sure, what is it, Gavin?” he asked with a gentle smile. “You know I always haven open ear for you.” Nines tried his best to be supportive, no matter with what Gavin struggled at the moment.

He threw his leather jacket down on his way to the bathroom. But as he shut the door behind him, he didn't notice the fact that a little black box had been jostled out of that jacket pocket and onto the floor.

Nines could understand his frustration, Fowler had been on Gavins back because of this one case for the whole week. Or at least He thought it was the reason. As soon as Gavin got home, Nines went to make food, something italian of course, to comfort his human.

When he went to pick up Gavins Jacket, he noticed the little black box. Picking it up, he couldn’t help but scan it. But he really didn’t have to, he already knew it would be a ring. With a knowing smile he put it back into Gavins jacket. They had talked about it and he wouldn’t deny how excited he was about it but he would wait for Gavin to make the move. For some reason it felt right to leave him the traditional male role on this.

A small smile crept onto Nines face, he wasn't sure what Gavin wanted to say but he decided to say what came to his mind first when the man started to struggle with words so badly "Why of course, if you would propose to me I would obviously say yes."

And if that wasn't what Gavin wanted to say, he could still say it was teasing.

Gavin wasn’t the most advanced android out there, but even his glitchy systems could tell someone was staring at him. He tore his eyes away from the terminal he was working at to see Nines watching him before giving him a small smile.

“…What the fuck you smiling at? Do I have thirium in my teeth?”

The RK900 tilts his head and walked over to the other android so he didn’t have to scream over half the bullpen “I’m obviously smiling at you and no, you don’t. I just think I like your models design.” that was probably a compliment but Nines was not a deviant for that long yet so he might need some exercise in that.

Of course Nines noticed that Gavin was sneaking up on him but he did not expect to be attacked like this. The probability of Gavin trying to hurt him hadn’t even been in the double digits so he was very surprised when he got hit.

The android staggered a little and held his neck “Why the fuck did you do that?” he growled annoyed at the man. If he had been human this could have been a serious injury but then again he was sure, if he had been human, Gavin wouldn’t have tried that.

The android stopped and thought for a moment “That’s actually strangely comforting. Don’t get me wrong, my current goal is to keep you alive for as long as possible, but the thought that you would be with me even after you are dead? Yeah, I think I like that.” Nines smiled a little, pretty sure that this was not what Gavin meant when he said he would haunt him.
