i know, very dumb, but it's a thing that happened around this time last year- it grew on me after a while. Man those were good times.

"Oh, there you are Hermann.You got some fish on you? Also... I kinda knocked over your chair with my tail and may or may not have broken it." He smiled a little sheepishly. He hand't meant to, but better that chair than the chalkboards.

I'm the Monster You Should Be Afraid Of.

Your character overhears someone calling mine 'a monster', what does your character do?

"You'd have to be some sort of monster to drift with a kaiju. I can't imagine it. That Gottlieb man, he was a bit of a monster to begin with, wan't he, though? His dodgy partner too. Tattooed all over with kaiju." The man shakes his head. 

"Sure, always stormin' about like he owned the place, talkin' down to us like we were trash or somethin'. Horrible man. Lucky those two never left their lab. I've heard that it's impossible to spend more than an hour in a room with that Dr. Gottlieb without going quite mad. His dad was a nutter too. Surprised he didn' run off to build a wall either." 

The two techs looked up at the sound of footsteps, their eyes lighting on Tendo Choi and identical smiles coming to life on their faces. Tendo was well liked, knew just about everyone, and was known for being good-natured, always willing to share in a joke. Stopping between them, Tendo clapped a hand on each of their shoulders. 

"What's that you were saying, boys?" He asked, eyes crinkling at the corners. 

"Jus' sayin, those scientists, man. Monsters, eh?" The other tech nodded, grinning as if to share in the joke with the LOCCENT Officer. 

"Oh yeah?" Tendo said, keeping his voice cheery. "That what you think, huh?" Withdrawing his hands from the two men, Tendo cracked his knuckles, eyeing them both. "It's Harper, right? And James." The techs nodded, impressed by his memory and pleased that he remembered them. 

"Yeah, those doctors -- they sure are crazy. Risking their minds for the good of humanity. I suppose some might see it as mad. Even monsterous -- they did drift with kaiju, after all." Tendo shook his head, waving a hand and laughing. The two techs laughed nervously along with him. It was clear now that the laughter didn't reach his eyes. 

"But you know, somehow, I think I don't mind it so much because those scientists you're so willing to call monsters -- well, they saved your sorry hides in the end, didn't they?" Tendo's voice was deadly calm now. "Way I see it, you should be thanking them. Why don't I send them your apologies, eh, brothers?" Tendo rolled his head on his neck and without a bit of warning, sucker punched the first tech in the jaw before moving fluidly into a second blow to the other tech, landing neck-jerking blow to his cheek. 

Both of the techs collapsed against the wall, one of them groaning softly. Shaking out his hands, Tendo winced. He was a bit out of practice in hand-to-hand combat. His grandfather would have reprimanded him. Well, probably more than that. He'd be mighty miffed to see Tendo using the forms for anything other than self defense. 

Poking the two with a toe, Tendo's eyes were chilly when he spoke, "I'll expect you to write the doctors a formal apology, too. Copy me on it. And if I catch you bad-mouthing anyone again, I'll put you in the fucking hospital. Especially when those folk are the reason you're still alive." 

Narrowing his eyes, Tendo shoved his hands into his pockets and ambled off, whistling tunelessly. It'd been a long time since he'd let his anger get the better of him. Felt pretty damn good.

[ It had been awhile since Ariadne had a chance to see Hermann, and it was long overdue. They all were working overtime now that the jaeger program had started up again in preparation for a possible defense for returning precursors, but that didn't mean that they were at the breakneck pace they had been.
