HOTEL PISTACHE THE HAGUE

New in The Hague is Hotel Pistache, a small independent hotel next to Het Vredespaleis.

  Dream of opening a hotel

Together with Cathelijne van der Lande of Kith & Kin (featured in The Amsterdam Guide) Florianne Eshuis is the owner of Hotel Pistache. She worked at several Dutch magazines, opened Options, the now closed concept store of Hotel the Exchange in Amsterdam and worked at Sissy-Boy Homeland for years. A woman with dreams, because when I talk to her on Saturday, she told me she had two ideas. Opening a new store in The Hague – “but I’ve already done that” – or opening a hotel. Et voila: Hotel Pistache has just opened the doors last week.

  Nine suites

The hotel is situated in a beautiful building around the corner from Het Vredespaleis. Once occupied by several doctors and it also used to be a dental practice. Of course, it had to be completely renovated to serve as a hotel. Now there are nine suites. Suitable for lovers, business travellers and people with children, who all prefer the luxury of an apartment-style stay.

  Illustrations and design

They worked with Anne Olde Kalter, an illustrator and designer who is responsible for the entire branding of the hotel and for the lovely illustrations on the walls and cushions. The rooms have a soft color palette of purplish blue and pink. All the suites are spacious and most of them have their own kitchen. There is even a room with its own kitchen and large dining room table you can rent for meetings, brainstorms or a private dinner.

  Furniture

And, so I learned, the kitchen cabinets are from Superfront, a company that makes very cool fronts that fit Ikea furniture. Other notable interior elements are the Fest Amsterdam chairs, the armchairs and sofas by &Tradition and Flos lamps.

  Location

The location is superb. In a few minutes you arrive at the Cortenaer and The Fine Store in Het Zeeheldenkwartier, making Hotel Pistache also a great base to visit the Festival Designkwartier in June. Opposite Hotel Pistache you’ll find Delight Yoga, the most beautiful yoga studio in the country. And a tram stops in front of the hotel taking you to either The Hague Central Station or to Scheveningen beach.

Are you interested in spending time with cool, innovative people? Then you should join Festival Designkwartier 2016! We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers that can offer us a helping hand. 

What is Festival Designkwartier?

Festival Designkwartier takes place in the lively Zeeheldenkwartier from 27th to 29th May. It is an event that focuses on this year’s newest innovations in terms of design and aims to bring people together in an engaging and fun environment. You can find many different presentations, shops, activities and exhibitions. 

Why do we need you?

We are a small group of passionate people who believe in innovation. As the event is growing bigger and bigger we are not able to do everything ourselves. That’s where you come in. We are looking for people who are willing to help us with different tasks such as: building and setting up the shops prior to the event, preparing lunch for the other volunteers, working in the pop-up stores, helping the visitors at info-desks and many others!
