DEVADHANI Category - Residential Client – Mr. K.V Vineeth And Ramya Architecture Firm – viewpOint dezigns Principal Architect – Ar.Shyam Raj Chandroth (ar.shyamraj) Site Area – 40 cents Area – 1980 sq.ft Year of Completion - 2020 Location – Cherpu, Thrissur Photographer – Ar. Midhul K (@k.midhul) Budget – 50 Lakhs From the designer - “A nature is not a place to visit. It is home ”__Gary Snyder A beautiful plot situated in a village ambience. As we looked into it, saw two verdant mango trees. Our story for the residence began with the trees, thus named ‘house between two trees’. Exploring the site and its context we decided to go along with a tropical contemporary style of architecture and included a few elements of traditional Kerala methods of design into it. The residence has been designed with an open plan, where minimal number of walls is used. Furthermore, the focal point of the areas inside the house is a courtyard which brings in the feel and beauty of the nature into the home in addition to light and ventilation. We encompassed the concept of following a combination of 'floating slab and sloping roof' as well to enhance the beauty of the elevation. Each of the elements used elevated the idea of coexistence of nature and built space. . . #designkerala #keralaarchitecture #traditional #traditionalhome #keralahome #keralahomeinteriors #keralaarchitecture #keralaarchitects #indianhomes #indianarchitects #keralaattraction #designersindia #houseofkerala #iiakeralachapter #keraladesigner #interordesign — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/3KdVlpv

An artery has been carefully inserted on site encompassing its context and design program. The house stands within a linear plot facing west amidst lush green fields and mountains of Palakkad district in Kerala. The area has houses that follow traditional architectural style of Kerala with generous courtyards, open spaces and pitched roofs. The artery defines the shape of the building, segregating the two parts between the right and the left parts that contain private and public spaces respectively. The artery culminates in a pooja area that elevates the serenity and warmth of interior spaces. The spatial division is further enhanced by providing transitional spaces between the building and the surrounding nature through a vegetational palette of the region. A walkable residence, that when walking through it, the change of textures and scales creates a sensitive dialogue with the user. The form is a product of slender volumes distributed on a plan intended to create voids and courtyards that rise above masonry walls in the form of a slope. The program consists of 4 bedrooms, kitchen, dining room, terrace, living room, and courtyards aligned to the corridor. Traditional sloping roofs with clay tiles adorn the elevation. Primary material used is brick along with wood and concrete finish for walls. Brick jallis have been provided within courtyard spaces to enhance spatial ambiguity between inter#keralatraditional Source @design.kerala #designkerala #keralahomes #keraladesign #keralaarchitecture #architecturekerala #keralahouse #keralastyle #keralatraditional — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/3pwi7PR

| PULLANCHERY | Category - Residential Client - Dr.Muneer Architecture Firm – De Earth (@de_earth_architects) Principal Architect - Ar.Nishan (@nishanmm), Ar. Vivek (@vivek_p_p) Location -Parappanangadi, Malappuram Photographer - Biju Ibrahim (@bijuibrahim) From the designer - Re-inventing the traditional values in the present context without losing the essence at the same time matching the present day requirements of the clients requires a novel approach; this project is not just reviving the lost art of traditional Kerala architecture but an attempt to redefine the luxury of space keeping the values of its original form and spatial qualities. We attempt to bring in essence of architecture by keeping it true to its content, materials and traditional techniques, evoking the feel of intimacy in spaces. The spaces pull you close to nature with large verandahs and central courtyard, which is the major design element in this house. Though it’s a common feature of traditional house, the original house was not a Nalukettu (which means it was not designed as a four block built space with a central courtyard). We re-arranged and extended the built space to complete the four blocks as an extension to main structure. A long verandah is also added on to the original structure to enhance the entry layer. The house is planned with an entry structure along with security room and gate, which acts as first layer of screening which leads to a landscape walk. The main structure is retained as such for one to appreciate the purity of construction and intricate details with its wooden windows, pillars, ceiling & roof. The laterite masonry originally covered with lime plaster was removed and exposed to create a dramatic spatial quality as well as texture. The main block with its all dark interiors with wooden window shutters reduce the heat intake and keep interiors cool. Follow @indiasbesthomes for more! | IDAM - A house to come back to | Category- Residential Client - Sreejith S. P. Architecture Firm - Ishtika (@ishtikadesignstudio) Principal Architect - Ar. Jinoj M (@jinojmathidharan) Architecture Team - Ar. Jyothisree (@jyothisree.a), Ar. Madhuri C.S (@madhurichandrasekharan) Site Area - 1088 Sqft (2.5 cents) Area - 1417 Sqft Year of Completion - 2020 Location - Mannanthala, Trivandrum Photographer - Prahlad Gopakumar (@jilbhow) Budget - 28 Lakhs From the designers - A man who loves to travel, wanted a space- Idam (ഇടം, Malayalam Transl.- space) to come back to; a space that reflected his journeys, both inwards and outside. This basic brief was manifested into a rugged, truthful and minimalistic home on a small plot of 2.5 cents in the urban outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The presence of roads on two adjacent boundaries reduced the buildable area and restricted the house footprint to mere 4.7m X 12m. The site sloping down alongside the road gave access to the plot at two levels; with a porch for two cars at level one and a pedestrian entry to the building at the second level. These levels were used as a tool to create and connect spaces within this 2-bedroom house. The pedestrian entry opens into the core of the house with a courtyard, a seating space, a dinette and a kitchenette. Through this living room is a balcony that overlooks the valley. This level also houses a guest bedroom with a toilet attached. A steel and wood staircase gives way to the third level of the house. This floor is entirely private with a bedroom, toilet, balcony and an open terrace. The attic, provided for heat insulation of the bedroom, became a library cum home theatre. The elongated shape of the site called for a linear design with major weight of the form towards the rear. The long façade along the road was designed with less openings to ensure privacy and to keep away pollution. The protruding bricks on the south elevation creates a play of shadows throughout the day, marking the passage of time. . #designkerala #keralaarchitecture #keralahomedesign #keralastylehomes #keralastyle #keralatrends #keralahomeplanners #brickhouse #budgethouse #godsowncountry — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/3o6hdZE
