Our event, Grim's Hollow Haunt, is just 11 days away, and we're excited to share all the details of what's happening that weekend! The 19th & 20th is the is the weekend that it will take place. All shows and ppvs on this day are prerecorded, regardless of if your character participates or not.
The setting takes place in a secluded cabin on the outskirts of Salem, MA. We’re bending reality a bit for this experience. The sprawling three-story cabin is isolated, surrounded by vast open land and eerie trees. Despite its remote feel, it’s just a short drive from Salem, where your characters can explore the city if they choose.
We invite you to click THIS link to read the fictional tale of Barnabas Grim and the legendary events that inspired this experience. It’s designed to feel like a local legend—stories pieced together over time through rumors and hearsay, blending elements of the supernatural with Salem’s own rich history.
With that in mind, we’ll be sharing starters the 19th and at least posting one dash game on the 20th to spark interactivity and creativity. Starters / prompts will mostly be one-liners inspired by the story and the cabin. During this trip, feel free to let creepy, unexplained things unfold—have fun with it!
Again, both important links worth checking out: here and here!
Now, to explain how the weekend will go:
We're all staying in the cabin—or at least, that’s the idea! There are plenty of rooms, and even multiple couples can share if they’d like. Remember, this isn’t just about romance; it’s about enjoying the experience together. When else will you get to do something like this? Of course, it’s perfectly fine if your character isn’t affected by the supernatural—after all, not everyone has those experiences in real life. But, at the end of the day, it’s all for fun!
Saturday during the day, feel free to explore Salem and whatnot. Do whatever you wish until nightfall.
The carnival kicks off Saturday night around 6pm CST. In canon, it will be set later to capture the feel of darkness and mystery. We encourage everyone to dress up in Halloween costumes for the event! Feel free to share your character’s look, but it’s not mandatory. For those managing multiple muses, use this time to draft posts or brainstorm outfit ideas. You can find all the carnival highlights on this page—just imagine a spooky yet thrilling carnival atmosphere. Keep in mind, this is the only October event featuring Halloween costumes, so take advantage and get inspired by the attractions listed!
Sunday night around 6pm CST, we’ll be hosting the final dinner: Grim’s Last Supper. You can find more details about it here. We encourage everyone to wear Victorian Gothic-inspired attire—think dark, rich colors, suits, dresses, and the like. Feel free to get creative, but keep in mind it’s a dressy, elegant, and formal dinner party. To keep things lively, we’ll also share a drunken Truth or Dare / AMA dash game that night for a bit of fun. One of us will link a drunken text generator if you really want to embrace the vibe!
Please, please make sure to reach out to inboxes that night and get as wild and weird as you want! Just keep in mind that it’s all for fun, and we want everyone to have a great time. Also, be considerate and avoid reblogging the game IF you will not be around to participate. Reblog to only the number of muses you can handle, too. Don’t get overwhelmed. Let’s make the most of the night!
We know there’s an NJPW PPV that weekend, but we decided to host this event a weekend earlier since the actual holiday weekends tends to be packed. Many of us have other OOC gatherings then, and some will be busy on Halloween night itself, so this felt like the best choice for an engaging and interactive event!
Quick question for everyone: would you like to have a plot twist during the final supper? Maybe something fun and unexpected, like a dare gone wrong or a creepy scenario that could (somewhat) realistically unfold? There’s always the classic power outage, but we know you all are super creative and might have other ideas! It’s not a must, but feel free to share your thoughts below so we can brainstorm together if something comes to mind.

I think I finally made y’all wait long enough (and procrastinated on writing this long enough) so you finally get Salem posting part 2!! I also changed up her design a lil very recently! It’s not much though, just more curl to her hair and a gemstone on her hat that resembles a gemstone on the Shadow Queen. I have the art on my art blog too, but here it is! I made the background myself too based off of a completely new location in my TTYD lore :3
So without further ado, lemme describe what it would be like if Salem was in TTYD!
Salem the Shadow Siren: Sidequest
Before chapter 4, if you talk with some NPCs, they speak of a lanky ghost-like creature that travels alone and seems to be afraid of its own shadow. It’s supposed to be vague for now but it’s foreshadowing to Salem. There will be a mandatory cutscene between Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 which you will see Salem physically for the first time in the Rogueport Underground. She’ll mutter to herself about how cruel her mother is for looming over her like this. Salem asks nobody why can’t she just live in peace and that the end will come soon. She starts rambling to herself about a garden she needs to keep up with in Petal Meadows. It will be then, mid sentence, that Salem notices the player. The room turns pitch black and then Salem is gone. You will have to remember this information after you get Vivian, because her veil ability is needed to make Salem comfortable enough to appear in her first secluded location in Petal Meadows. If you decide to pursue her, that's when the sidequest truly begins. Your second encounter with Salem in Petal Meadows will leave her shocked, as she is very scared of Vivian. Sadly your partner does not know much about Salem, but the physical similarities does confirm that Vivian and Salem are both Shadow Sirens, and thus related. Salem is scared that Vivian will try to drag her back home, or get Beldam to drag her back home. Confusion ensues on how Salem knows the Three Shadows, but Vivian hardly heard about Salem. Despite her kind nature, the lanky siren pleads to not hurt her plants and leave. A choice prompt will show up >Okay, we’ll get going. >Where is your home? If pestered enough about where Salem used to live she will get upset with you, and dim the lights. When you can see again and Salem is gone. Picking the first option will just make this go quicker. There is a note on the ground that tells you that she has a garden to tend to in Keelhaul Key. And no, you can’t actually hurt the pretty flowers Salem planted, that would just be rude. :( As you progress through the game new garden locations will open up, backtracking, yada yada yada. She sticks around for longer each time you see her, and you learn more about her. There’s a point where a battle is initiated, but Salem doesn’t attack, and after a few turns she flees. If Goombella uses tattle, her stats will be illegible, and not much is known about Salem. Once you have access to the Palace of Shadow…if you have successfully done all of Salem’s encounters, she will send Mario an email to meet her at her favorite place in the world: Shrinking Violet Summit. (There’s a new pipe that opens up that will lead you directly to the place, and it’s not very big either. This is more just to see how beautiful the place is and set up something important. This time you won’t need Vivian to have Salem appear in the room she’s in, she will be there waiting for you to talk to her. And if you do, she will thank Mario (and Vivian) for helping her gather the courage to open up. She’s aware that you opened the Palace of Shadow, and decides to tell you everything. The Mother she keeps talking about, is in fact the Shadow Queen. A long time ago, the demon decided she wanted to raise an heir to inherit her power and rule the world in case anything bad happened to her. That’s how Salem was born. In truth, she is over 1000 years old, and was there to witness the Shadow Queen sink the ancient Rogueport and create the Crystal Stars. She did not however, witness the four heroes defeat her mother and seal her away. For the longest time, being the Shadow Queen’s daughter did not feel right. She was created to help drown the world in darkness…but she saw the light, the beauty of Earth. Salem decided enough was enough….and ran away from the demon. The Shadow Queen let her live…Salem does not know why. (It is revealed when you face SQ there is further context that she wanted Salem to orchestrate her return to prove that letting her live despite her traitorous actions was the right decision, not Beldam.)
Salem has known Beldam for a long time, and feared her loyalty to her mother. But she wasn’t aware that Marilyn and Vivian were created. She lived in fear of Beldam finding her and dragging her back to the Palace.
The partner Mario brought out will ask if Salem will come with them to confront the Shadow Queen. But….despite everything, she says she can’t. Salem is afraid to fight. But, she won’t leave you empty handed, and will give you a Jelly Ultra as a sendoff gift to help with their fight with her mother. (Which fun fact, that would be the only one you can get for free without needing to make a recipe! So she gives you something really valuable for all the trouble!)
The even cooler part is, she has one last email to send after Mario defeats the Shadow Queen. She asks him to meet her at Shrinking Violet Summit again, and with a newfound determination…Salem learns that she needs to stand up for herself. She will forever live with the regret of not facing the Shadow Queen herself…but she will try her best to make things right. She asks Mario if he would like to fight her, and reveals that she’s pretty tough. People used to fear her…instead of her fearing everything.
Waboom! Surprise she’s a superboss! You’re basically facing a Shadow Queen EX, with some differences in Salem’s attacks. But if you can defeat her, she will become recruitable as a post game partner!!
I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m gonna have to make a part 3…this was even longer than my last post about Salem SOBBB
But this next part will be about what she’s like as a partner, and finally addressing her likes, dislikes, personality, etc.
I will see you tomorrow at noon folks :3
#MarbarTattles#Salem#Shadow Siren#Shadow Siren OC#paper mario ttyd#TTYD#I knew there was a reason this was taking me so long#and it was because I was rewriting my sloppy notes from discord LOL#and I knew this was gonna take me a bit#but the most rambly part is over and part 3 will be a short one#....whenever I get to it.

Monster High Reimagined
Clawdeen Wolf character bio/redesign
Clawdeen wolf (she/her)
(Lesbian)
3rd werewolf child of the Wolf family
(African-American)
(Transforms on the full moon into a timber wolf)
A New York City-born werewolf with a deep love for the world of fashion, clawdeen is an ambitious, independent and serious girl whose often contradictory desires to both carve out her own legend whilst also living up to the reputation of her big sister clawdia way too often feed back into her self doubt,in itself not helped by the shakeup of her family's recent move to a homestead outside New Salem. Regardless, clawdeen hopes that this change of pace and the new friends she's made at monster high can be the start of something great in itself.
Likes: her siblings, fashion design, animal print ,thrifting for clothing and fabric and long jogs.
Dislikes: her siblings, artists block, silver jewellery (allergic) ,synthetic cotton and people being antagonistic towards her friends.
Killer style: being an aspiring fashionista, clawdeen's designs and by extent personal style take inspiration from many sources across time and the planet, leaning mostly into the looks of the 70s, 90s and contemporary african and afro-american fashion, often made out of upcycled materials in her favoured shades of purple, gold and green.
Familiar: Crescent is Clawdeen's family's Bingus Sphinx cat and often the involuntary model for small outfits clawdeen likes to make out of fabric scraps, which he often voices his displeasure for by knocking items off of clawdeen's desk or loafing himself in inconvenient spots around her room.
Pet Peeve: One thing that unquestionably irks clawdeen is people (most often humans) telling her that she'd look prettier if she started shaving her fur. An insensitive question even if she weren't a werewolf, and one that makes her glad her parents instilled in her a strong sense of personal pride at a young age, a similar sentiment also existing for those who tell her to straighten her naturally curly hair.
Freaky Flaw: her self-doubt,ever present in the back of clawdeen's head and often gnawing on her conscience,it makes clawdeen worry about things otherwise set in stone and makes her feel more obnoxious and abrasive than she really is,especially when it comes to her friends and love life.
Spooky Secret: ever since they met the summer before high school started clawdeen has had a frankly colossal crush on draculaura, but since draculaura got together with her brother Clawd she's decided to keep it under wraps to avoid things getting… awkward between the three of them, and besides the two of them are the closest of friends and 'Lala and Clawd make for an adorable couple.
Dream job: To work in fashion of course! Clawdeen has grand ambitions to run a full fashion empire that represents and caters to both humans and monsters, to get a headstart on said plans, clawdeen is taking economics, art and textiles classes as well as honing her skills in her own time taking commissions.
Five Fearsome Facts:
Clawdeen wore glasses during elementary and middle school but switched them out for contacts after middle school graduation, worried they'd make her look too "childish" in high school and wanting to emulate her older sister Clawdia at the time.
Outside of fashion design, one of Clawdeen's favourite pastimes is athletics and particularly running, With one of the most satisfying things for her being taking a jog/run after spending a long day in class or in her room drawing and sewing.
With their being so many members of her family to feed as well as too many deer in New England clawdeen's family hunt and fish in the woods around their farm alongside Keeping livestock like pigs and poultry. Clawdeen often joining her dad and siblings to fish and socialise in the woods when she needs to de-stress from her busy school schedule.
Among the many hobbies clawdeen has taken up since she moved to new Salem is attempting to spin yarn for use in her designs, unfortunately this endeavour has hit a roadblock thanks to the presence of rámon the alpaca, the only wool-bearing animal on the wolf homestead and the bad-tempered bane of clawdeen's sisters howleen and weredith's existence. Nonetheless clawdeen keeps on attempting to shear him, despite his objections…
Before meeting her future besties over the summer at MHs induction weekend, clawdeen was quite lonely in middle school and spent a lot of time online fashion forums. Here however she met Skelita and Jinafire, two other aspiring fashion designers, and the three became fast friends over many conversations on Instagrave and Pinterrorest, clawdeen hoping the three can meet up someday in person at one of the big fashion weeks in Paris,London or New York.
I'm back, and considerably faster than with the last few entries in this series.
With the debut of the first werewolf of this reimaginings cast,I feel as if it's as good a time as any to explain how werewolves work in this universe.
In short, werewolves are sort of similar to vampires in the sense that they turn from a humanoid form with canid features (I feel the closest approximation in this case would be how the wolf siblings are drawn by artists like mossy_moth and nati_chuan on Instagram) into a species of wolf or fox on the full moon, clawdeen and her family in particular turn into Eastern or timber wolves,a species/subspecies native to the northeastern US and Canada:
Also yes,Werewolves also have tails in their humanoid forms too.
Anyhow, hope you like this profile and I hope to be back soon with another one.

It’s le piece of resistance, the episode of Fixing RWBY I contributed the most art to! Let’s take a look, shall we?
Believe be when I was obsessively looking at reference pictures of the castle both from canon and from RWBY: Fairytales, and hating the design of it more and more the more I studied it. xD It’s just not super great lmao, so I did some tweaking to the castle’s design throughout my scene, mostly adjusting some of the tower roofs and the layout. In this scene I’m particularly pleased with the statue of Salem’s mother now inset in the roof above Salem’s room. I had to extrapolate her mother’s design from the silhouette we saw in RWBY: Fairytales, and kept it relatively simple in the interest of honoring the silhouette. I think my favorite detail I added to her was giving her a fox-skin scarf. I also downloaded a star brush on CSP to fill in that sky, very fun to paint in.
Another thing I hated from canon and canon-adjacent material was how empty Salem’s room was. You look at canon or Fairytales and it’s like, “My God, does anybody actually even live here? How dull! It looks like an Ikea display!” So that was another one of my goals for this scene, that I wanted to design Salem’s room with a lot more Stuff(tm). Just stuff everywhere, as many necessities as I could think of for living, and clutter because she’s a teenage girl and she probably isn’t super tidy. A bookbrush I downloaded saved me a lot of trouble as well, for filling in even more Stuff everywhere. xD
You may notice that there’s a lot of stuffed animals and depictions of animals in her room, and that’s because I headcanon that Salem likes animals a lot, especially fanciful animals that have wings. xD I also felt the need to give Salem other hobbies besides just reading and writing, since even the biggest reader would get bored of that reading. Hence the painting easal, the embroidery ring, and the violin and deck of cards and dancing ribbon. Bitch(affectionate, Salem is my daughter) needed more stuff to do in a day. xD
This is an interesting drawing, because it’s actually right when I was shifting my style a bit! I’d discovered another artist whose art I admired, and so I was training myself to incorporate elements from their art that I liked into my own repertoire. It’s kind of hit and miss sometimes in how well I pull it off, but I like how this one turned out. :) Salem’s pajamas were designed at the last second as I was working the scene lol. I like how plaintive her expression is here.
This was a fun and quick drawing to do, and the first peek we get at the redesign we made for Salem! Explicitly, once we learned that Salem was canonically 16 when she was rescued, according to RWBY: Fairytales, we felt the need to redesign her so that she accurately reflected her age at that time. More on this further down when I share her reference sheet!
One of those more awkward moments on trying to work in a style I wasn’t super comfortable yet. xD More extrapolation on her father’s design, although it’s much easier to work with him since we have more visual reference on how he looked.
Another view of Salem in her room. The perspective was very difficult to do here! I wanted it to be like the camera was set right on Salem’s writing desk, and make it obvious that’s where the camera was and that we could see her writing implements in the foreground. But because the writing desk I gave her has an angled surface, it greatly complicated things in terns of trying to maintain a dead-on perspective and still keeping her writing stuff in frame. I kinda fudged it a little for the sake of visual clarity, after all was said and done. xD Her pen was fun to just doodle on lol.
Another fairly quick drawing. The longest part was lining up the text on the edges of the paper so that it displayed the way it ought to. Curious about what Salem wrote in her letters exactly?
text reads: Brave hero who finds this note, Please come and rescue me immediately! I am imprisoned by my father with no hope of escape. He refuses to let me go and I fear I shall never know the feel of grass beneath my feet, or the embrace of a husband. Please, I beg, rescue me from him. I am in the tallest tower of Dawnfall Castle, in Duskerfield Valley of the Kingdom of Scatheudo. Should you succeed, the Kingdom and all its lands shall be yours, and I your happy wife, to stand by your side as we explore all the realm we will rule together. —Graciously awaiting you, Princess Salem.
You just can’t help but feel sorry for how desperate she must’ve been, to offer her hand to the first guy who can reach her. And think of how lucky she was that it was Ozma who reached her, and not any of the rough-looking folk we saw in the RWBY: Fairytale episode. I made up the names of the location of the castle on the spot pretty much, and looked at proto-germanic for the name of the Kingdom. Would you believe me that I took inspiration for the structure of the letter from that bit in Monty Python and the Holy Grail? xD
More castle tweaking and redesign, put an actual wall around the whole place so that it was, ya know, defensible? xD perspective remains the bane of my existence, but I did a convincing-enough job with this. Happy Salem’s so cute, I don’t get to draw her smiling and showing off her dimples enough. :3
RED. I did also redesign the soldiers of the king’s castle. I actually forgot that we were given a glimpse of the soldiers in RWBY: Fairytales, and so went through the process of researching what armor style to use and how to dress them and this and that. And then I double-checked the episode and saw we actually had a glimpse of them. Oops. xD But I liked my design more than super-heavy duty one shown in canon, which I felt clashed with the castle’s overall aesthetic and the role of archers I wanted to portray them with. And so, I used the design I came up with for them anyways wwwww.
No longer happy Salem. :c Throughout each of the frames I drew for my scene, I kept playing with how the colors were done. It’s mostly filters to save on time, and lots of experimentation was done each time to achieve the exact looks I wanted.
I love when I can work on a drawing and profoundly feel the emotions the picture is meant to have. The perspective is fucked but once again i didn’t care very much lol. My main focus was showing Salem’s magic mirror now shattered, as she’s given up on ever leaving her tower. ;n;
Highlighting Ozma as the other main player in the story by him being the only other person given a full palette and not just colored with a contrasting solid color with the bg. :0 I did not give a flying fuck about attempting to replicate the actual design on Ozma’s staff, so we get a bunch of swirlies(and sometimes not even those LMAO).
This was almost a completely different image! The script talks about Ozma facing the King and his forces, and at first I just sort of copied what we were shown in RWBY: Fairytales. However, that never quite sat right with me. We’re told that Ozma used his cunning to defeat the king, but then the Fairytale just kind of showed him generically fighting the soldiers, albeit with magic instead of a sword? That never seemed very cunning to me though, and I couldn’t tell what the difference was supposed to be that made Ozma more qualified to rescue Salem than the others.
And so, I came up with the idea that Ozma really does use trickery and cunning to circumvent the castle’s main defenses and approach the king directly. It’s a little complex here and there was a lot of information to try and get across, but basically what’s happened is that Ozma has disguised himself as the dead queen in order to gain access to the castle and to the throne room without having to dismantle all the defenses. The king, of course, is able to see through the disguise with his own magic, but was allowing to hear out the charlatan if only for the novelty of their trick and the chance to see his wife again. I also felt it would be cool if Ozma used the image of the dead queen to chew out the king for his actions, abusing their daughter the way he has, and no doubt planning even worse atrocities in the future towards her in order to keep her locked up for the rest of her natural life.
A poignant moment that deserved a frame by itself, and a minimal-effort floor lmao.
The big meeting! This was a moment I was very excited to draw. In small contrast to canon, I felt that the way Salem was portrayed in the show was that she was just a little too ready for Ozma to burst in all swashbuckling. So here I made a point to portray Salem as having been in the middle of something, because obviously why would she expect a visitor to bust in, let alone a complete stranger? She was occupying herself the way she always does, with her hobbies, in this case playing the violin.
From here on out the scene also uses more and more vibrant palettes for the environment, because ooo salem’s world is expanding and becoming more colorful thanks to ozma ooooo symbolism oooooo
Also a fun moment to draw. Salem’s delight contrasted with Ozma’s shock at seeing how young Salem really is. Plus I love dramatic height differences in characters, they’re so fun lol. You think Salem hurt her head at all against Ozma’s armor, rushing him like that? :,)
One of those trickier scenes to do, it’s always hard to figure out a character’s height relative to another when they’re kneeling. I think I accidentally drew Ozma a little small here, breadth-wise if not height-wise, but oh well. This is also the last view we get of Salem’s bedroom, fare thee well!
Here, it was all about the expressions for me. I wanted to emphasize the kindness in Ozma’s eyes as he pities this child who was prepared to offer him literally everything just for helping her escape a bad situation, and the lovey-dovey look in Salem’s eyes as she’s completely smitten for her rescuer. As a side note, I consistently struggled to draw Ozma. From his armor to his face and hair, he was just very challenging to me. xD
Some commenters from the video thought it was kinda funny that Ozma was covering Salem’s eyes as he led her out of the castle. I agree. xD It’s one of the smaller, practical things that I think make for very nice touches in storytelling. Such as Ozma realizing “it would probably be really bad if she saw her dad’s corpse on the floor, or the corpses of any of the other people who worked in the castle, I better cover her eyes and lead her out by hand.”
Some might note this is very different from canon, where it states that Ozma and Salem fought their way back out of the castle together. But tbh that didn’t really make a lot of sense, especially after the RWBY: Fairytales episode came out? If Salem could fight her way out the whole time, why did she need Ozma to rescue her? If Ozma had to defeat the king and his soldiers first to get to her at all, then who the hell were they fighting on the way out? The straggling survivors, the noncombatant servants? So we cut that detail, in the interest of maintaining logical continuity. Salem will have her chance to be badass and uber-powerful later in life, it doesn’t need to happen while she’s still a teen.
There’s also something I quite like about the imagery of a knight using his cape to help shield his maiden from something, very noble and chivalrous.
Had to shrink this image a bit for tumblr! The last frame of my scene, and the most colorful. Ozma’s horse here is a peacock leopard appaloosa! I was looking for horses so that I wouldn’t just give him a generic-looking one, and decided that appaloosas were perfect for a mage like Ozma. Spent a little more time detailing the forest here as well, I’m pleased with how it came out. It would’ve been nice to include a frame of Salem looking back and seeing for the very first time that there was a statue of her mother positioned over her room like a guardian angel, but alas, it would’ve been superfluous. :,) and i was tired by this point wwww
Now let it be said we like Salem’s canon design, quite a lot actually, but we like it for adult Salem, not a Salem who’s meant to be 16. xD We never expected we would need to do this, but @themixedcoffee whipped this up in the discord and me and Butterfly pretty much fell in love with it, it’s so cute and perfect, and so we just pretty much went and wholesale made it her official teen design. I like how she looks kind of bookish and unkempt, sort of like the awkward teen you might expect Salem to be, quiet and raised with good manners, but raring to let loose and run wild.
Of course, there were other redesigns which made their appearances this episode. O.O We reaallly weren’t jazzed by the technicolor mannequins that canon gave us for the designs of the Gods. xD We felt they could use more style, more flair, some pants, and just generally be more interesting to look at. For Light, we leaned into those eastern influences from his dragon, and went very bishounen for him. We also thought that Light/life as a concept was more nuanced than just creation, and that there were elements of a need to fight and defend in order to protect life, hence giving him the armor. We figure that Light specifically makes himself approachable for humans, which is why he’s so human-like(despite being 8 feet tall lol). Though i also liked adding the touch that when he’s angry the facade starts to drop and his features become more inhuman. O.O Another thing I quite like about his design here is adding a point of sharp contrast by giving him a purple gem. The darkness within light type of thing, to kind of bring the brothers more towards a yin/yang dynamic. Speaking of...
For Dark, our perspective was that he wouldn’t care about trying to impress humans or be approachable for them. He was the less-acknowledged yet still very important half of his brother, for without destruction there can be no creation, and volcanoes distribute fertile soil vital for plant growth after their eruptions.
As a slight compensatory act and a nod towards the more general prevalence of darkness as opposed to light, he gets to be twice as big as his brother. We were looking at all sorts of references and inspirations for him, to explicitly make as inhuman and macabre looking as possible. The cracks on his body also came from volcanic allusions, like his skin is cracking rocks. The floating, expressionless mask in place of a head came from a claymation movie about Mark Twain and a very creepy scene in it featuring The Actual Devil who also uses a mask instead of having a head. His forearms having gaps in them came from the 80s Bakshi movie Wizard, wherein the villain in that had a similar thing going on with his arms. Not really human, not really alive, and not really there either. I think my favorite part is probably his eyes being the sole spot of bright color in his design, light shining in the darkness.
And finally Maria!! I was very excited to work on her design and for people to finally see it in our rewrite. Some may think that it’s surprising that we redid Maria’s young design as well as her old design, but if you ask me, her young design isn’t very good either. xD I wanted her to have more colors, to have contrasting colors. To make the blue really pop and to make her look like the Grimm Reaper she was supposed to be. Hence the use of black and gray, with blue and orange as highlights to capture the eye. Tweaked the design of her mask as well to be more elaborate and a little more sugar-skull like. C’mon RWBY, you’re a 3d animated show, you can go for the fancy patterns and textures way more than a 2d artist like me can. xD We also made a point of making old Maria a more normal size instead of being a midget. I get that aging can make you shorter and Maria canonically as terrible posture, but it’s not that extreme. xD In both cases, I paid special attention to suggestions that were made by the members of our team who were actually mexican/hispanic/latino, which is actually quite a lot and they were very helpful to me. xD Maria’s goggles were also simplified just a bit.
Wow that was a lot of art to cover! This post almost didn’t survive it, had several failed uploads happen. xD But we’re not done yet! Even more art and redesigns are waiting in the future, which I’ll be just excited to talk about! So stay tuned, and thanks for watching/reading! ;D Btw, if you want a better view of the images in this post, here’s the twitter thread I made featuring all of them, so check that out as well! https://twitter.com/Erica_D_C/status/1624121234010013721

5, 20, 43 for Salem?
Thank you so much! 🤗
[CP2077 OC Asks]
5. are they religious or spiritual in any way?
Salem is very spiritual, but he's not very religious. He prefers to keep the concept of God, or any deity for that matter, secular from his own beliefs. It's just not for him. He is heavily into the occult, however, and borrows practices/beliefs from various mystic philosophies that he's drawn to. Salem practices witchcraft, he's believes in fate, past lives and soulmates. He studies astrology, tarot, and believes in spiritual energies in others and the surrounding natural world around him. I can ramble on and on about Salem and his belief system 🤭 All this to say, Salem is my most spiritual out of all my other OC’s.
20. where do they currently live? describe their home.
I'm so excited for this question, I've been trying to design Salem's apartment for the longest time 😂Sadly, I can't come up with anything visually decent, so descriptions it is! I hope I can do it justice.
Salem lives in an apartment building in Northside. It’s similar to the in-game Maelstrom apartment in terms of aesthetics but it’s a bit bigger and more livable (and slightly better maintained). It’s a 1 bedroom, 1 bath floor plan. Small yet spacious enough for him and his stuff. It has a heavy industrial vibe, with exposed brick walls, metal railings, etc.
It's messy as you'd expect it to be from someone like Salem. Worn clothes thrown on the bedroom floor, his coffee table is covered in empty cans, his rolling tray, a bong, half-read tarot spreads, etc. But it's not over crowded or cluttered to the point where it's an issue.
His decor fits his own style too. If someone were to step into his apartment, there's an immediate "Ah yeah, this is definitely Salem's space" thought. He has art on the walls that he has commissioned himself or has been given to him by fans/friends as well as various posters of various bands and musicians he genuinely is a fan of. There are little oddities and curiosities on his shelves, such as crystals, creepy little statues, things like that.
The lighting is kinda dark and somewhat dim, he tends to keep his windows closed with the curtains drawn shut, especially in his bedroom. But he'll let in a little sunlight from time to time when he needs to.
What always seems to throw guests off is how his apartment smells. It always smells nice, since he usually has incense burning either for meditation, rituals/spells or to just relax. However, there's also a noticeable weed smell lingering, so it's definitely subjective. 🤭
His favorite spot in his home is his work area. He has a corner of his living room reserved for his desk and his recording equipment. His set up might look cluttered, with all his notes scattered about as well as even more empty cans, a full ashtray and various shards here and there, but he knows exactly where everything is.
43. describe their ideal date.
Salem is not one that can easily be 'wined and dined'. He doesn't like big, expensive, excessive dates. It just turns him off and it feels very artificial and false to him. He's far more into 1x1 dates, so group dates probably aren't the best way either.
To Salem, it doesn't really matter what the setting is or what it is they're doing, as long as he gets to be with that person. He wants to get to know them, see what they're like, how they present themselves to him and how they engage in the activity their doing. It could be something as quiet and intimate as going out for a drive together, away from everyone else. Or something loud and rowdy like going to a show together or causing trouble at some bar. 🖤

The Old Salem Post

This paper is a passion to capture pieces of our surrounding local life and the blessed world we share that I am so grateful for! I am grateful for Jeannie and Ashton who share this weekly passion. I am grateful when any of you share news or comments. This is your paper too. Thank you to readers for your continued encouragement. Thanksgiving blessings to you all! Lynne Rogers Martin

TOWN of SALEM: 5 Park Avenue Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM. Closed 12-1 for lunch. We are collecting Toys for Tots and also accepting applications for those who need Toys for Tots. Mark your calendars for the Salem Christmas Parade, Sunday, December 8 at 4PM. Line up early if you want to be judged. Call the Town to register to be in the parade! 864-944-2819 Jottings from Miz Jeannie by Jeannie Barnwell CALLING A DESIGN FREEZE Take this tip from manufacturing. Companies devote painstaking labor developing products. At some point they must stop designing so they can produce and market these products. They call a DESIGN FREEZE- in other words, this means, it's as good as it's going to get and if we keep tweaking we might make it worse. Calling a design freeze is a necessary strategy in living a sane life. Sometimes, in projects and even in relationships you have maximized all of your efforts and expense; it's time to move on. You are not giving up! It's just time to explore new paths of discovery! Miz Jeannie wishes you every blessing as we journey through the holiday season! Miz Jeannie
ASHTON RECALLS by Ashton Hester TOXAWAY DAM BREAK CAUSED SEVERE FLOODING IN 1916 - (The following is the third of four installments of a story that was in the August 16, 1916 issue of the Keowee Courier). . .Great trees from 80 to 100 feet in height came down in the raging torrent, their trunks being almost stripped of bark. They would be wedged so tightly together in the stream as to temporarily stop the water in its mad rush, when all at once there would be a break in the rift of trees and logs, and the renewed force of the water rushing into the break would send the giants of the forest high into the air, only to fall back into the flood and continue on their way down, tearing and smashing as they went. In many instances large trees were swiped from the banks and dragged into streams by heavy driftwood. Parts of houses, stables, used planks, cord wood, etc., and some small animals, were noticed in the flooded streams. . .The stench from the waters of the lake was terrible. P.S. Shook, of Walhalla, who was at Lake Toxaway at the time the dam broke, said it was terrible to remain near the lakebed, as the stench could hardly be endured. . .At Jocassee, the Whitewater Inn was submerged to a depth of four feet or more over the first floor. There was such a sudden rise in the water that a number of the guests in the upper rooms were forced to wade out in water waist deep. They spent the night on the mountain adjacent to the hotel. When the water receded it left large banks of mud in the hotel, and from the floor there was picked up about a half bushel of fish. . .Jocassee is not located on the Toxaway river, but it is on the Whitewater river, situated a short distance from the point at which Whitewater empties into the Toxaway. As the flood came down the Toxaway it walled back the Whitewater, backing up that stream and causing considerable damage along that course. . .The home of John Crow, several miles below the Brown place, which the rush of waters reached about 9:30 o'clock, was also submerged to a depth of two or three feet. The roof of the stable had to be torn off in order for Mr. Crow's horse to float or swim out. The animal was found, alive and well, late Monday afternoon. . .Also in this vicinity the home of Gus Robinson was washed away. He and his family had not been warned, and they had a narrow escape. All their belongings were carried away. . .TO BE CONTINUED

Salem Methodist Church: I share this with everyone as The Old Salem Post welcomes you to join in prayer wherever you are. To Everyone: As you may recall our church started (or restarted) a prayer group in Oct and we have been meeting regularly at the church. Though we have shifted the time and day once or twice based on feedback from church members, the prayer time has continued. The prayers are many and varied: individuals, our community, our church, missionaries, our leaders, groups and nations around the world; all manners of healing, repentance, that the Truth be heard, softened hearts, restoration of godliness, God's Peace within...and everything else the Holy Spirit leads us to pray for. Some of our prayers have been answered...on others we wait upon the Lord - but we continue to pray persistently and fervently. (James 5:16) With December knocking at our doors, I would like to ask that each of you consider assuming the role of facilitator for the prayer group in my absence. Perhaps two working as a team, or a couple working in tandem? There is no hard and fast structure, agenda etc...the focus is on gathering for a time dedicated to praying and honoring our Loving Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus. Blessings, Sandy Steblin

the home of ak.c & c.n.f
Aiysha and Catalina's Home in Sune's Harbour, Fenrirswood:
Exterior:
Architecture: Their home in Sune’s Harbour is a charming two-story Victorian-style house, built with sturdy stone walls and a steeply pitched roof adorned with dark wooden shingles. It exudes a historical charm that blends seamlessly with the neighborhood's Viking-influenced architecture.
Entryway: A wrought-iron gate opens to a stone pathway leading up to a large wooden door, weathered by time and embellished with intricate carvings of mystical symbols and runes. Hanging baskets of vibrant flowers flank the door, adding a splash of color to the aged facade.
Garden: Despite the limited water nearby, Aiysha and Catalina have cultivated a small garden in the front yard. It features native plants and herbs, carefully tended to by Catalina’s green thumb, with paths lined by ancient-looking stones that echo the Viking heritage of the area.
Interior:
Living Room:
Décor: Inside, the living room is spacious yet cozy, with exposed wooden beams on the ceiling and hardwood floors covered by plush, patterned rugs. The walls are adorned with family & photos, as well as photos of loved ones.
Fireplace: A grand stone fireplace dominates one wall, its mantle adorned with trinkets and artifacts collected over the years, including miniature ships and ancient amulets. Incense is burned here.
Family Space: The room is arranged to accommodate both relaxation and play for Leonardo and Marisol, with a large, comfortable sectional sofa and a play area filled with toys and books. Loki's dog bed rests near the fireplace, while Salem's scratching post and toys are nestled in a cozy corner.
Kitchen and Dining Area:
Layout: The kitchen is spacious, with a rustic farmhouse table at its center surrounded by mismatched wooden chairs. The countertops are cluttered with jars of herbs and magical ingredients, alongside a collection of cookbooks and family recipes passed down through generations.
Herb Garden: A small indoor herb garden thrives on the windowsill, providing fresh ingredients for Aiysha and Catalina's culinary and magical concoctions alike.
Children’s Room:
Design: Leonardo and Marisol’s room is adorned with whimsical wallpaper depicting enchanted forests and mythical creatures. Bunk beds with colorful quilts and a plethora of stuffed animals fill one corner, while a reading nook with oversized pillows and fairy tale books occupies another.
Pets’ Space:
Loki’s Domain: Loki, the black German Shepherd, has claimed a corner of the living room as his own, complete with a cushioned dog bed and a basket overflowing with toys.
Salem’s Perch: Salem, the sleek black cat, enjoys surveying the neighborhood from a window seat in the study, where he can bask in the sunlight and keep a watchful eye on the surroundings.
Trinkets and Artifacts:
Family Heirlooms: Throughout the home, shelves are adorned with family heirlooms and magical artifacts—a crystal ball passed down through generations, a set of rune stones used for divination, and framed photographs capturing moments of joy and adventure shared by Aiysha, Catalina, and their children.
Character of the Home:
Historical Charm: While the house shows signs of age, it has been lovingly maintained and updated over the centuries. Aiysha and Catalina take pride in preserving its historical integrity while infusing it with their own magical touches and modern comforts.
Miscellaneous:
Architectural Style: Their home is a charming Victorian-era townhouse with a distinctive turret and bay windows, reflecting the historical architecture prevalent in Sune’s Harbour. The exterior is adorned with climbing ivy and colorful window boxes filled with flowers.
Interior Design: Inside, the home boasts high ceilings, intricate woodwork, and stained glass windows that cast colorful patterns across the floors on sunny days. The decor blends modern comfort with vintage charm, featuring plush furniture upholstered in rich fabrics, homemade/thrifted rugs, and an eclectic mix of artwork and artifacts collected from their travels.
Magical Accents: Aiysha and Catalina have integrated magical elements throughout their home, such as enchanted candles that flicker without a flame and a small, well-tended herb garden in the kitchen window sill that always blooms regardless of the season.
Pet-friendly: The home is designed to accommodate their pets—Loki the black German Shepherd and Salem the black cat—offering cozy corners, scratching posts, and comfortable beds scattered throughout. There’s also a designated area in the backyard for the pets to roam and play.
Family Heirlooms: Displayed prominently are family heirlooms passed down through generations, including a vintage mirror that is said to have once belonged to a powerful witch in their lineage, and an old spellbook with handwritten notes in the margins from ancestors long gone.
Home Office and Study: Aiysha’s home office doubles as a study for both her apothecary work and magical research. It’s filled with shelves of jars containing various herbs, potions, and spell ingredients, alongside antique books on witchcraft and alchemy.
Connection to Nature: The backyard features a small enchanted grove with a stone pathway that winds through it, leading to a serene meditation spot shaded by ancient oak trees. This is Aiysha’s favorite place to unwind and connect with nature’s energies. Catalina takes the twins out after full moons to look at the stars.
Community Involvement: Their home often serves as a gathering place for friends, fellow witches, and neighbors during festivals and celebrations, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie within Sune’s Harbour.
Security Measures: Being aware of Fenrirswood’s mystical nature, Aiysha and Catalina have installed protective charms and wards around the perimeter of their property, ensuring privacy and safety from unwanted magical intrusions.
Seasonal Decor: Throughout the year, the home undergoes seasonal transformations with decorations that change with each solstice, equinox, and Sabbat. This includes wreaths made from local herbs and flowers, and seasonal altar arrangements.
Aiysha and Catalina’s home in Sune's Harbour is not just a place to live but a sanctuary that reflects their deep connection to Fenrirswood’s rich history, their magical practices, and most importantly, their loving family life with Leonardo, Marisol, Loki, and Salem.

The way his aura writhes in the instant before Tyrian collapses gives her warning enough to catch him halfway down. She kneels, lowering him carefully to the ground; but though he rouses a little—stirring with a low, fretful murmur—the toll of exhaustion and more than a week without food claim their due, and he doesn’t fully wake.
Lips pursing, she scoops him up instead.
(It’s difficult to gauge his weight; Salem remembers the peculiar surprise of discovering how strong she became after the pool of grimm than she does the limits of human muscle and bone. Tyrian is larger than her even without considering the four feet of armor-plated tail, but in her arms he feels no heavier than a child.
Concern flickers, hot as a candle-flame.)
She slips inside without a sound and carries him swiftly through the labyrinthine corridors of her home—feeling calmer with each step, more settled, more sane, sharp edges and fault-lines smoothed by the ancient heartbeat of her horde. The words will not return to her so easily, but Salem thinks she might count that time in hours now, instead of days.
If she’s fortunate, Tyrian will sleep that long.
But she’s never liked to rely on fortune.
The greenhouse, Salem decides, is a safer choice than his room. He’s never set foot in it before, tucked away as it is in the back of the house where she lives; so he can’t possibly have upsetting associations with it. Besides that, it’s peaceful.
…and he’d grown up on a farm.
In accordance with its designation as part of her personal quarters, the greenhouse is ascetically furnished: bereft of seating, with shelving for her tools and a long block of granite to serve as a worktable at the center. But she’s never bothered to pave the ground inside, choosing instead to build up layers of soil as deep as her forearm over the natural bedrock, and moss carpets the open spaces between the vegetable beds. There are… worse surfaces to rest on.
Salem sets him down near the potatoes, careful of his tail as she arranges him on his side. For a moment she just kneels beside him, uncertain, before unclasping her cloak and draping that over his shoulders. It isn’t cold in the greenhouse, but neither is it exactly warm, and he is dressed for Vacuan heat.
Then, leaving the seer in the corner to watch over him, she hastens first to the kitchen to collect an assortment of… whatever seems promising that she might be able to coax a mouthful or two into him, and then to her study for paper and pen.
He doesn’t know what’s wrong, if it’s something he did or said, if her throat seems to be closing up on her words because of him or because of this place-
(it’s you it’s you it’s you it must be you)
-but she says “not you,” forces it out, even, and then she squeezes his hand and says no more.
He had begged her, earlier in the night, to find words when it seemed impossible to do so. He won’t beg her now, but the hand she isn’t holding onto does reach and withdraw, because he can’t decide if to touch her again will make it worse.
Yes - whether she’s angry at him or not, he did bring this on, he must have.
And then - she casts him a helpless look.
With everything she’s told him, he can’t bear to see such a look on her face. Couldn’t have born it before, either, but had she not sat at his side and allowed him to touch her and had they not given each other a chance to speak?
He does it, after all, the only thing his own scattered-panicked-desperate mind can think to do, and closes his other hand over the one of hers at his wrist, as if to shield her hand between his. The only comfort he feels he can provide.
…And when she pulls him through the door into Evernight, it’s like being shot.
He isn’t surprised that she didn’t bring him to where Cinder is. Salem was shrewd, probably knew of his killing intent. So, it isn’t not being in Vale that has thrown him so - it’s being in Evernight specifically.
Of all the places she could have taken him- does she truly expect him to want to eat or sleep here, where so much had happened?
(when you’ve put your home in a person, places become a haven for their ghost)
Every first with Arthur had been here. Every time he’d needed to be doctored, it had happened here. Every kiss and sigh and hold and “You will eat, Tyrian” and “Tell me what’s wrong, Tyrian” and “Are you cold, Tyrian?” and every absentminded attempt to unwind his braid and every stroke of “such a beautiful tail, Tyrian” - it all hits him with such force that he stumbles.
What little time they’d had on the journey to Atlas - what little time they’d had in Atlas - it all paled compared to how many memories were here, in this place of firsts. In this place where he’s sure Arthur’s room still sits untouched, haunted by the ghost of his presence. In this place where he’d never know Arthur’s quiet again.
Tyrian doesn’t say a word, the shock finally sending his body to its limit - his tail uncoils and drags limp along familiar ground for a moment, and then he drops in a dead faint.
