Okay okay, going through my knowledge of ac rogue when I remembered that shay was likely raised by his aunt (as I've not seen any mention of his mother, only that his father was a sailor who died) so herea my take, what if Desmond was thrown a ways back when shay is still a child and takes the place of shay's Aunt?

I'm looking at this like female des just being a absolute menace (albeit a caring menace for shay's sake) by teaching him things any assassin is trained for, like freerunning? Aunt des is only a few rooftops away standing close by making sure her nephew isn't going to fuck up and hurt himself while giving him pointers and correcting him, but as time goes by with Aunt des teaching him these things it just becomes a bonding experience for them. A way to distract him or to calm him down whenever it gets to be too much for him. Liam? Liam just the poor unfortunate soul who got dragged into the mess by being shays best friend, and gets to witness just how much of a menace aunt des is. But he gets to learn as well because let's face it, he probably found it very interesting after a while.

Liam: shay- what are you doing up there?! Get down!

Shay: I'm fine Liam, I'm just trying to catch up to aunt des! She ain't gonna let me get hurt

Desmond peeking over the edge of the roof to confirm she is indeed close by to help when needed: oh hello Liam lovely day we're having today, how are you?

Liam: how are you so casual about this?

Once shay is grown up it goes from his aunt des being the silent freerunning menace to shay becoming the silent freerunning menace, I can just picture the look Achilles has when shay first joined Liam to become an assassin and the man just breezes through training with ease.

Achilles: you have assassin training already yet you said you've been doing this for years...who taught you?

Liam: his menace of an aunt, that's who

Now, I could be wrong but I'd like to think shay is mildly protective of aunt des when he's questioned about his training as she's the only living relative of his still around. He does notice later that the training he's doing at the homestead is exactly what his aunt taught him, which leaves him reeling with emotions and more questions then the other's have.

But i also think des would be someone who could balance shay out a little bit, she acts like a piller for him at times. Often having had fallen back to the memories of her ancestors when training him.

From what I can gather, Shay lost his father when he was 16 (or 15 if the ship went down before his birthday in November). His aunt took care of him before he joined his father in the sea and the database noted:

Shay returned to New York and spent his days wandering from one tavern to the next, starting one brawl after another.

So, this meant, that Shay didn’t return to his aunt after his father’s death. But we can twist this a bit. Aunt Des is still the person who takes care of Shay when he was young while his father was out in sea. Maybe she is Shay’s biological aunt or maybe she’s just this quirky woman that his father knew and trusted to take care of Shay. Either way, this gives us a chance for Des and Shay to develop as half-aunt-nephew and half-mother-son. Shay would have a closer relationship with Des than he did with his canon aunt and he’d learn to freerun from her.

BUT, because Des is a big supporter of ‘oneshot strikes’, Shay didn’t get a reputation as a brawler because his aunt looks always disappointed when he fights for the dumbest reasons. This would mean that his father wouldn’t take him aboard the ship at 8 and he would continue to live with Aunt Des. Maybe when he's 14, his father would suggest he joins the crew and Shay goes with him but always visits his aunt any time he gets (and asks Liam to keep an eye on her). So when his father died, he went back to Des who helped and grieved with him.

I honestly think that, in this scenario, Liam and Shay wouldn’t even become Achilles’ Assassins. After the death of Shay’s father and when he's ready to move past his grief, he’d stay with her and Liam would tag along and they would form their own Brotherhood.

Might even become sorta tense allies/rivals with Achilles’ Brotherhood…

Unorganized Notes:

Shay will definitely be protective of his aunt and Liam will be too. To them, Des is more or less like a second mother figure.

Des has complicated feelings for Achilles because of his Bleeds. On one hand, she respects him, on the other hand, Des doesn’t agree with some of his choices. Because of this, they can’t really become one Brotherhood.

Achilles believes Des is from another Brotherhood, probably one of the European Brotherhoods. Des just goes with it.

Des would make contact with Kaniehtí:io after she’s sure that Haytham Kenway has left the village. Shay and Liam end up like older brothers to Ratonhnhaké:ton because of this.

Due to being in different Brotherhoods, Shay and Liam’s relationship with the Colonial Assassins are different. They both don’t like Achilles because they feel that he’s sometimes rude to Des. Hope and Shay have a more… tense rival flirting thing going on (which Shay is adamant is not true, no matter what Liam says) and, dear god, don’t let them near Gaultier. Just… don’t.

Shay doesn’t like Haytham in this one. Especially if we add in the misunderstanding that Des’s complicated feelings for Haytham (which is because of his Bleed) is because Des has feelings for Haytham and Shay does not approve of that. It’s all one big misunderstanding, that’s for damn sure.

Shay is loyal to Des both as his mentor and only living family member. As the person who pretty much raised him, Shay trusts Des with all his heart which hurts because he knows Des is hiding a lot of things from him.

. I am Puerto Rican, we are of British heritage mainly Scottish but we are a mix of Carib Indian, African, Taino, Spaniard.

. I’ve visited California, Colorado, Georgia, New York, South Carolina, Texas, and Tennessee. Cali definitely left the biggest impression on me as I used to visit there every summer. I also got my first job, drivers license and car there :)

. I would not mind, in fact, I would love to live near a a river or lake. If I don’t have one near, I will for sure build one.

. My favorite childhood show would be Powerpuff Girls, & That’s so Raven.

. Favorite candy.. Oh man my sweet tooth is bad lol I love sour candy, especially SweetTarts. I love Coffee and Dulce de leche (caramel) flavored ice cream.

. Being a mom is challenging as there is no manual to this haha but it’s so rewarding & fulfilling. Being a single mother comes with hardships but I love that she is all for me & I am able to raise her the way I wish I was raised. We do yoga together, I always ask what’s on her mind, what she dreamed about, I give her independence, I spoil her, we dance together, and I hope we can meditate together soon. I pray everyday she sees how hard I try my best <3

Some people love you more than you know, some people think of you, some people see you in a bright light, some people would rather die than see you die, you don’t want to die you just seek shapeshifting, yes all that, also, ‘don’t be afraid’ but I keep repeating this one since so long...

No kiss. fine morning F42 ½° at 7 ¾ am - then out at ¾ hour till 8 ½ - went for Charles H- found he had been set off ½ hour ago - then with old Charles H- looking at 2 compasses for measuring coal - the best (as good as can be made) with long and short legged frame 3 guineas to me - 3 ½ guineas to other people - he has a rain guage ready marked to 1/100 part of an inch - did not say the price - his own rain gauge is marked to the 1/1000 part of an inch - 5 inch of rain fall here last month - very fine morning- Richard Woodhead and his son (met them at the entrance gate) gone up to rail Mark-Town’s road off from Greenwood’s and Pickells’ land - breakfast at 8 ¾ to 9 ¾ - reading chitty and thinking what to do about Mr Jeremiah Dyson - at my desk at 9 ¾ - then to 12 had written and sent off by George the following note to ‘Messrs. Parker and Adam, solicitors, Halifax’ - ‘Shibden Hall Friday 13th March 1835 - Sir - Mr Adam will have told you what passed yesterday - but it occurs to me, that, before taking any other step whatever, you had best write to Mr Jeremiah Norris to acknowledge the receipt of his note of yesterday - and to inform him that I do not think that the mere tender of toll to the gate-keeper, more especially with reference to the time and manner of this tender, can be fairly considered all that is necessary to constitute making and proper satisfaction for the grounds of complaint I have alleged - and that I have instructed you to ask from Mr Jeremiah Norris an early and clear answer to the question, whether Mr Jeremiah Dyson is, or is not, willing to pay the compensation demanded as toll, and also, and at the same time, to pay the law-expense incurred by me in claiming the said compensation so demanded. I am sir, etc etc A. Lister’.

[need to think about it] - sat looking into Chitty and writing copy of a handbill to be printed giving notice of the trouble and expenses Mr Jeremiah Dyson had put me to and that if he or any other person attempted the line in future he should be prosecuted without further notice. Went down to A- at 2, she had come for me to shew proof (from the case state to Mr Alderson for his opinion respecting the Bailey Hall road) of the conveyance by her sister of all her sister’s property to Captain S- 27 and 28 February 1831 - done by lease and release and secure enough - we were in the midst of our astonishment and talk whom Mr Bradley came about 2 ½ to tell me his good fortune in being entitled in right of his wife to above or thousands pounds by the death of her youngest brother - Mr B- has taken the necessary measurements at Northgate but will be from home next week about his money business and I

gave him till next Monday week the 30th instant for finishing his plans - congratulated him very heartily on his good fortune - Off with A- at 3 ½ to Cliff Hill - walked with her to the Crownest paddock stile and then returned to speak to Holt who was with the 2 Manns measuring the length of drift there would be from Mytholm dam-stones to Coffin Lane bridge end - drift 240 yards long - would get out of the wood about midway between Breakneck cottage coffin lane bridge - would be 5 yards deep below the surface of the wood - would want a vent hole every 40 yards the last to be always filled up as soon as another made - told him to settle about price and get it begin as soon as possible to work shifts ie night and day - anxious for the Pump pit to be set a going as a sale pit as soon as possible - Holt thinks it will take at least a 12 month - the Tilley holme vent-pit to be let alone till the drift is driven up to it, for this will take the water off it which we have been frightening with - the pit sinking was agreed for 6/ per yard but on account of having so much water must mend the price - not agreed how much - this pit is 9 yards 2ft deep and is at the upper bed which is whole coal - the youngest Machan will be of age on Monday - H- will come to Shibden on that day and bring me plans from 3 wheelwrights of a water wheel - from Shay of Ovenden and Bates of Ripponden, and Bates of Sowerby bridge - to talk over Mrs Machan’s coal on Monday - said I should be glad to have it - but it seemed to me not quite so necessary as I thought it at first - to which H- seemed to agree - said Mr R- could not get much of it from George Naylor’s fields extended too far - I said I thought R- could not get more than 25 acres of S. Hall’s coal to which Holt quite agreed - mentioned to him Walsh’s share in the coal of the waste - he said Walsh had spoken to him about hit but he Holt had forgot to tell me - W- wants to sell - Hinscliffe got £60 for his share from Mr R- Holt thinks he can buy Walsh’s for me for £30 - told him to name the bargain for me if he could, at this price - then off again at 5 ¼ for A- dawdled about the Cliff Hill land till went into the house at 5 ¾ and sat 1/2 hour - home at 7. A- had told her aunt all about her sister’s making over the property to Captain S- and about her own A-‘s will and heard about her aunts’ the long and the short is she thought A- had left all she had to me and so she Mrs. AW had the next thing to cut A- out for it neither she nor Mrs Sutherland to be executors but Mr W. Priestley A- pleased by saying she had left all to Sackville nothing yet settled about me but if A- did not marry should probably stay with me and we should mutually give each other a life estate in all we could Dinner at 7 ¼ - coffee - wrote the last 45 lines - ½ hour with my aunt till 10 ¼ pm at which hour F46° very fine day

Des's new life was simple, as simple as it could be if she were honest. She's spooked her brother a few times, not on purpose, of course. But now with a six year old boy under her feet she's definitely gotten a dose of her own medicine whenever she turns around to see just him and his friend liam, who was now an unspoken member of her newfound brood. Blinking des looked at shay with a raised brow "I didn't hear you or liam" she says taking note of their excited-proud-mildly embarrassed body language as shay gave a smile that made her heart melt right to her soul and leak from her very pores.

"Just like you taught us!"

It was official, des adored her nephew. Isu be damned if anything happened to the small ray of light that life blessed her with, she swore she was partially retired but in truth she was a liar and she knew it. She knew half of shay's story, that he became a traitor of the brotherhood and hunted them to near extinction here in the colonies yet a part of her always- always felt she had a half truth, a fae lie. Seeing shay as he was now and raising him, she knew Achilles and his assassin's were at fault somehow and the fate shay and subsequently liam had due to them would be avoided if she had anything to do or say about it.

Grinning in return, she ruffled his hair lovingly as she gave liam a pat on the head before resting her hands on their shoulders. "And I'm very proud you took what i taught you, the both of you to heart." The pride in her voice wasn't hard to miss, it never was.

"Now, do you two wanna try something i was making? It's sweet and i personally think you'll love it"

Originally, the woman would've cursed the isu and their machines for bringing her back, but now? Des was happy and loved her newfound family, so small blessings she concluded. Small blessings.

Part of the Desmond gets reborn as Shay’s aunt idea

Aawww. This is so sweet.

If I may suggest that the reason why Desmond learned of Shay’s betrayal is because of a memory of Ratonhnhaké:ton and Achilles talking.

A small memory that remained in Desmond’s mind because it was the last conversation Ratonhnhaké:ton had with Achilles.

Achilles warned Ratonhnhaké:ton the pitfalls of being a mentor, how it was a lonely place to be, with no one beside you to support you.

Desmond could feel the grief and the guilt in Achilles’ words.

No.

Ratonhnhaké:ton could feel what Achilles wasn’t directly saying.

It was a warning.

He was trying to make sure Ratonhnhaké:ton wouldn’t make the mistakes he made.

And Desmond right now?

She’ll make sure Achilles doesn’t make a similar mistake this time.

Even if it means dragging him off the mentor role by undermining his authority.

- George being the first one (other than their grandparents) to realize that the twins are disabled and accommodating their needs (teaching them BSL, letting them speak Welsh when they have trouble with English, etc)

- Henry quickly learning to leave Evie alone if she looks stressed

- Henry giving Evie certain kinds of flowers when she’s having sensory overload because he knows she finds the smells calming

- Alec getting confused when the Fryes end up going nonverbal in front of him and resort to using BSL
