"Excuse me?" The scroll she was pouring over rolled up when she looked at him. At the moment, she was translating a particularly nasty scroll of Akkadian, and she didn't feel evil doing that, but she was sure he knew about something.

"Unless you elaborate, I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about. I guess there's gotta be something, but you're being awfully cryptic about it, Aether."

She re-unrolled the scroll and glanced back up at him with scornful, amber eyes. Not that she knew him well, but she discerned he had some damn gall interrupting her while she worked.

‘Remember to smile!’

Kit stared at the small post it note on the fridge. Squinting her eyes as she took a good look at it. There were no words to really describe the words written on the small piece of paper.

The shifter slowly pulled the piece of paper off the fridge, careful not to rip it. Kit was very careful with things that were given to her, even things as simple as a sticky note meant the world to her. Especially if her friend took the time out of his busy day to think of her. Looking at it one more time a small smile pulled at the corner of her lips. The note did what it said it would do. It reminded her to smile.

Shedding

You are losing yourself, bit by bit. Your own skin is peeling away, m ths forming out of it as you shed more of yourself. Your breaths birth hummingbirds and doves as they abate, your fears turning into savage things of teeth and claw. How much more of yourself will you have to grate away until you fit the mold you set yourself today? How much more will have to go tomorrow? How much longer until you've shed too much of yourself - until the pieces you left by the roadside are more than what little you have left?
