TIPS TO PROTECT YOUR TEETH FROM SUGARY FALL TREATS
Fall is in the air, which means plenty of great-tasting fall treats and snacks. Many of these things are packed full of sugar which is not good for our teeth. Sugar helps feed the bacteria in our mouth which then creates this sticky substance, called plaque.
If the plaque is not removed, it will slowly eat away at the protective enamel layer on the teeth. Once the enamel is gone, tooth decay continues until the tooth is infected and we have a cavity.
Another issue that occurs when plaque is not removed, is it slowly starts to harden and turn into tartar, which is also known as dental calculus. Tartar cannot be removed through normal brushing and flossing.
If you want to avoid having your fall treats and snacks wreck your beautiful smile and create cavities, we recommend using the following tips:
1. Brush your teeth twice a day and floss once a day. Don’t skip your regular dental oral care habits. Sticking to your routine will help keep plaque off of your teeth and reduce the risks of dental decay.

It is okay to eat candy and other Halloween treats as long as you have a plan in place.
Tip #1: Limit Snacking on Sweets
Letting your child snack all day on the pile of candy they got is not a good idea. It is also not a good idea to constantly snack on other sweet treats. If you do, you will have a buildup up bacteria that creates plaque, as well as acids that eat through the enamel on your teeth.

AT HOME DENTAL CARE TIPS WHILE SHELTERING IN PLACE
With dental offices closing for non-essential and non-emergency care, amid the coronavirus pandemic, at-home dental care is vital to ensuring proper dental health and maintaining your beautiful smile.
Tip #1: Don’t Apply Excess Force When Brushing
Apply excess force when brushing is not good for your teeth. Doing so will damage the outer protective enamel layer and could lead to cavities. It is better to use a gentle force and move the toothbrush in round circular motions.
