Producer Navid Izadi Dead After Plane Crash, Still Under Investigation

Producer, DJ and vocalist Navid Izadi has passed away following a plane crash, which also took his mother’s life.

On Sunday, August 5th, the Cessna 414 aircraft they were traveling on reportedly nose dived into a retail parking lot near John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, California. None of the five people onboard survived, but miraculously there were no casualties on the ground.

The 32-year-old producer was closely involved with Wolf + Lamb and Crew Love collectives. He also sang on tracks for PillowTalk, Soul Clap and Deniz Kurtel, to name a few. 

No word yet on what caused the crash, but federal investigators are looking into why the plane crashed so close to its destination.

Eli Goldstein of Soul Clap issued a statement to Resident Advisor:

Navid had a totally unique energy that you can feel in his music, but especially when you spent time with him. He was an old soul, with the spirit of a kid. Always beatboxing, rapping, telling stories, giving hugs, dancing. His vibe was infectious.

Navid always gave so much love, and touched us all so deeply with his music and his spirit, he will truly be missed.

April & Andy's Brooklyn Wedding

On September 1st 2018 April and Andy first saw each other at Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn alongside their bridesmaids, groomsmen, and family (including their doggy!).  All dressed up they gathered to have their photos taken and begin together what would become their wedding day.  Once portraits had been taken everyone made their way to the Williamsburg venue, Marcy North. Marcy north provided a really cool gallery/ vintage loft space for both the ceremony and reception. Large scale sculptures and art by 5TH House , an ‘ever-evolving creative project’ by Deniz Kurtel, were exhibited throughout Marcy North.

April and Andy had their friends who introduced them nine years ago (and are also married!), officiate the ceremony.  Thereafter the music was kicked up by Beat Train Productions and these two hit the dance floor with their guests not too far behind.  The only thing steering people back to the downstairs space was the food (duh!). The Marcy North venue allowed for the Abeetz Pizza Truck to pull right up and flip custom individual pies for each and every guest. Once the cake had been cut it did not take April and Andy long to get back to tear up the dance floor once again and dance joyfully all night as Husband and Wife.

Me interesa tu historia. Sí, la tuya. Pero antes, arrancaré con esta foto que nada tiene que ver con este #mai_writes y que ni siquiera sé si esto podrá calificar como uno, o más bien un puñado de palabras escritas a las 8 de la mañana con dos tazas de café y “Wake me up” de Deniz Kurtel sonando de fondo. Sin embargo, me gusta porque parezco determinada, como si estuviera mirando mis metas. Despertar. Eso quiero. Tic tac tic tac. Todos tenemos sueños, y el mío en este momento está esparcido por el suelo. Necesito recoger sus pedazos y armarlos en una sola cosa no tan deforme. Si no lo hago ahora, pueden pasar días, y luego meses e incluso años de mi vida. No existe un momento perfecto, y si lo seguimos esperando, nunca haremos nada. Por eso, qué esperan? Qué espero? Me apasionan las historias y poder provocar algo en el lector. Se me ocurrió, hace mucho ya, una idea no tan original pero no por eso menos valiosa. Entrevistas, quizás al estilo de Humans of New York, para contar historias como la tuya. Porque en esencia somos tan iguales, y allá afuera hay alguien que siente lo que sentís, sufre por lo que sufrís o tiene la misma manía que vos. Me gustaría hacerle sentir al entrevistado que puede confiarme su historia, para que yo la relate de la manera más fiel. Es como una primera cita, una conversación que se anima de a poco, una química que se construye, una confianza a ciegas y una responsabilidad más grande aún: la de no defraudar al otro. Hay veces que me meto tanto en este proceso que me mareo. Les miro a los ojos, y escucho detenidamente. Dejar la mirada quieta, y concentrar mis oídos, por alguna razón hace que la imagen se me diluya en frente y se convierta en una nebulosa. Aún así, no hay nada más gratificante para mí que el resultado. Sentir que pude plasmar con exactitud lo que me contaron. Palabras que cobran vida como si fueran pequeños hombres de palitos que se levantan de la hoja y montan un espectáculo. Luego de un tiempo de escribir por acá, cada tanto me llega algún mensaje diciéndome que se sienten identificados con mis textos. Ahora, tan solo quiero ampliar mi espectro de experiencias, para abarcar todas las posibles. Podré?
