Dengue (break-bone fever) is a viral infection caused by the Dengue virus, which is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected female mosquitoes (Aedes aegypti). These dengue mosquitoes generally bite during the daytime (both inside and outside the house). It has been observed that these mosquitoes are most active during dawn and twilight. Symptoms show up only after six to ten days after being bitten by an infected mosquito. ReadMore

As the committee chairman on health and solid waste management and together with our #BrgyDist19 council, we are always reminding our residents and constituents about #Dengue prevention as we regularly apply Antimos around our vicinity in line with our monthly Pentakasi. Since 2010 I have randomly given out commercial mosquito repellants though I was never a fan of its smell or the feel of it on my skin. I’m A+ and mosquitoes love me, so I have no choice. But this time I am thankful for the opportunity to be able to create my own skincare to help combat and do my part when we are in a state of calamity. Mao ni gi ingon way pugsanay, pero way balibaray... (ug di ka gusto mamatay!) sa tinud-anay. 👉 Get your #BugOff Citronella lotion stick from @savonormocana #dengueoutbreak #allnatural #bugoff #ormoc #citronella #diy #skincare #lotion #savonormocana #MariaOilbularya (at Ormoc City) https://www.instagram.com/p/B0YnpnKpMVq/?igshid=1re1li19qt2c9

Turning Ideas into Solution
Tumblr media
The group has created a BMC regarding a device that can kill small insects, specially mosquitoes. For we believe, that dengue is rampant in our country for years up until now, and yet nobody has ever found a solution that can stop the said disease. “Prevention is better than cure.” So our business will be about creating a device that can kill mosquitoes before it attacks you. Unlike most mosquito repellents, this device won’t give off smoke or foul odors, which is suitable for people who's prone from cough or asthma.      With these ideas we have, and the hypothesis we’ve created, we need to validate the problem we’ve thought about by interviewing several people, in order to verify if mosquitoes are really still a problem in the community.      The group then had interview in a place not far from the school to save transportation fees. We interviewed around Lapas 1 - Sto. Nino, Lapasan. We were able to interview about 10 people; by which we classify 5 people who doesn’t have stable ways of earning, while the other 5 people have.  We asked them about what certain problems they encounter in their household, and of course their first answer would be about financial problems. But when we asked about the problems they encounter with their community, their answers are most likely; flood, rodents (rats), transportation noises, and above all, mosquitoes. So, we then confirmed that mosquitoes are still a problem in the community. We also inquire about their ways of preventing mosquitoes. Aside from cleaning their household, and their surroundings, most of them said, they’ll spray mosquito repellents but complain about it’s odor. Other say, they’ll put on  a mosquito coil; it is a mosquito-repelling incense, usually made into a spiral, and typically made from a dried paste of pyrethrum powder. In which they whine about the foul-odored smoke it gives off, and it’s big possibility to start a fire. Others go in a common way most of us people use-- Mosquito nets. but you can’t put mosquito nets all over your home. The group then took the opportunity to ask about the possibility of them buying the device we will create, in which they answered, if it is affordable, they WHY NOT? they also said, many students have inquired about these things but they haven’t heard from them again. They are expecting results and are excited whether this device is really useful or not.
