summary. it was the hottest derry, maine has been. after a quick trip for ice cream, you convince the losers to take a small dip in the quarry. you all meet up later that day prepared and bike the way there, ready to feel the refreshing water coating your skin.

the sun was relentless, beating down on derry like it was trying to burn the small town into nothing. the ice cream in your hand had already melted half down your wrist, and you watched as the losers struggled to finish theirs before it became a complete disaster.

you couldn’t help but laugh as richie dramatically groaned, holding out his cone. ❝ i swear, if this thing gets any messier, i’m throwing it in the trash. ❞

❝ you wouldn’t dare, ❞ you teased, knowing full well richie would probably shove it in someone’s face before wasting it.

you sat on the curb of the ice cream shop, legs tucked beneath you as you felt the heat radiate off the sidewalk. derry wasn’t usually this hot, but today was different, and your friends were all trying to keep cool with their sticky, melting treats.

eddie sat beside you, carefully licking at his cone like it was a mission he had to complete without any error. his eyes darted over to richie. ❝ you do realize you’re supposed to eat it, right? not just complain about it? ❞

richie grinned, messy and smug. ❝ oh, eds, you know me so well. ❞

you wiped the drips of ice cream from your wrist, turning to look at the group. ❝ it’s too hot to sit here, ❞ you sighed, squinting against the sunlight. ❝ we should do something fun. ❞

stan raised an eyebrow, always the practical one. ❝ like what? the pool’s too crowded. ❞

you huffed.

❝ the quarry, ❞ you suggested, the idea hitting you like a breath of fresh air. ❝ it’s perfect! we can cool off, and it won’t be packed with people like the pool. ❞

there was a brief silence as everyone considered it. bill was the first to nod, his face already flushed from the heat. ❝ sounds good to m-m-me, ❞ he agreed, looking around to gauge the others.

you squealed, kissing his cheek all in good fun. ❝ thank you, thank you, thank you bill! i knew you would agree. ❞

he smilled softy placing his hand where your lips touched his face gently.

ben smiled softly, wiping sweat from his forehead. ❝ yeah, i’m in. we just have to be careful. ❞

❝ oh, come on, ben, ❞ richie groaned. ❝ it’s not like we’re jumping off cliffs. we’re just gonna swim. ❞

❝ actually, that’s exactly what the quarry is, ❞ eddie corrected, looking mildly horrified at the thought of jumping into the water.

you nudged him lightly with your elbow. ❝ it’ll be fun, eddie. we’ll just float around in the water, i promise. ❞

❝ if they do end up doing so, i’ll just accompany you regardless! ❞

he sighed, but there was a tiny smile tugging at the corners of his lips. ❝ fine, but if i get an infection, i’m blaming you. ❞

you laughed, standing up and dusting off your shorts. ❝ deal. let’s meet back up later. we can bike there together. ❞

later that day, you found yourself biking down the familiar path to the quarry, the warm air rushing past as you pedaled alongside your friends. richie rode beside you, tossing out jokes every few seconds, his glasses slipping down his nose as the wind whipped through his hair.

❝ so, y/n, ❞ he said, leaning closer with a smirk, ❝ if eddie starts panicking, you’re on distraction duty. ❞

he didn’t have to tell you twice.

you grinned, swerving playfully to avoid a rock in the path. ❝ oh, don’t worry. i’ve got it covered. ❞

you arrived at the quarry, parking your bikes in the usual spot. the shimmering water below looked so inviting, and the heat of the day made the idea of jumping in even more appealing. you quickly peeled off your shoes, giggling as the others did the same, some more enthusiastically than others.

you were sporting a cute red gingham ruffled swimsuit underneath a pair of old jean shorts.

eddie lingered by the edge, eyeing the water nervously. ❝ this … looks a lot higher than i remember. ❞

richie rolled his eyes, already halfway to the ledge. ❝ that’s because you’re standing up here like a loser. come on, eddie, don’t be a wuss. ❞

you shot richie a quick look, gently tugging eddie toward the water. ❝ ignore him. he’s just showing off. we’ll take it slow, alright? ❞

eddie nodded, still not convinced, but trusting you enough to step closer.

ben, stan, and bill were already easing into the water from a lower point, avoiding the jump. you followed suit, dipping your toes in and shivering as the coolness spread up your legs. it was freezing at first, but the relief was immediate, making you sigh in contentment.

❝ oh my god, this feels amazing, ❞ you murmured, wading in deeper.

eddie, with your help, finally stepped in, wincing as the cold water hit his skin. ❝ it’s so cold! ❞

❝ don’t worry eds, you’ll get used to it, ❞ you assured him, giving him a small splash. ❝ just float, and you’ll forget all about it. ❞

as soon as everyone was in the water, it turned into a game of splashes and laughter. richie, of course, was the loudest, egging everyone on as he swam circles around you and eddie, trying to start a splash war.

❝ you guys are no fun, ❞ he teased, pushing his glasses up as he slicked back his hair.

you giggled, splashing him lightly. ❝ maybe we just don’t want to get our hair wet, ❞ you shot back playfully.

richie scoffed, clutching his chest dramatically. ❝ y/n, you wound me. ❞

the rest of the afternoon passed in easy joy, the cool water providing the perfect escape from the oppressive heat. you floated on your back at one point, letting the sun warm your face while the water kept the rest of you cool. you could hear the others splashing and joking around nearby, the sound of your friends’ voices mixing with the soft ripple of the quarry.

eddie floated beside you, eyes closed and content. ❝ thanks for making me come. ❞ he said quietly, barely audible over the splashes.

you smiled softly, turning your head toward him. ❝ anytime, eds. ❞

as the sun began to dip lower in the sky, you all reluctantly made your way out of the water, the air now feeling cool against your wet skin. you wrapped yourself in the towel you’d brought, sitting on the rocks to dry off as the others did the same.

richie flopped down beside you, shaking his wet hair like a dog. ❝ so, y/n, think you could survive a summer in derry without us? ❞

you glanced over at him, grinning. ❝ not a chance. ❞

you reached for beverly’s hand, accepting your touch of affection returned the favor and giggled along with you.

to turned to the losers and furrowed your eyebrows and smiled a bit as a small amount of heat rushed through your face. flustered.

❝ thanks for coming with me guys, i love you all so much. ❞

Okay guys, I need to share my FAVORITE fanfiction of all time.

So, we all know that James McCavoy played Charles Xavier and Bill Denbrough (It). Well, imagine if the two characters were actually the same person ?

We go through the X-Men movies with Charles not remembering anything about Derry, and then, BAM he receives the call from Mike, telling him to come back to take care of Pennywise.

(And I love the fact that Charles is actually his middle name but he refuses to go by it)

Cherry on top ? It’s a Cherik fic with Moira being the best of friends (and a f*cking badass) 🤭

I’ve probably read it like 3 times since August and it is still my favorite fic ever !

Poly losers club: Bill finally standing up to his dad for his real family the losers.

*if you want to picture how angry Bill is, and how the losers calm him down. Watch this YouTube video. James Mcacovy is brilliant here. I love picture young adult Bill getting angry like this*

Bill finally standing up to his father for everything. He stands in front of the other losers. Not afraid. He's faced scarier things. His dad is nothing.

Bill: Y-you don't get to ju-udge m-my choices. You don't get to judge them!

Bill gestures to the other losers behind him, they all stare at Bill in wonder, awe, and also how hot he is. But also worry for him because they never seen him this angry(not since Bill and Richie's fight) , and at his father no less.

Mr Denbrough, his tone judgmental(Mrs Denbrough standing behind him, nervous but silent): Bill this isn't normal! Having this close a bond with your friends isn't normal. I'm just concerned.

Bill eyes go cold: C-concerned! Yo-ou haven't gave a shit about me in f-fucking years! Not since Georgie died!

Mr Denbrough fully angry now: Do not talk to me that way young man! Now you listen-!

Bill snaps and pushes his father back away from him, hard. Causing the other losers to gasp.

Bill: NO YOU LISTEN! You were never there for me when Georgie died! We never talked about it! *Bill starting to tear up, but still angry.* You never talk about him. You just want to forget. Just like everyone else in this town.

Mr Denbrough starts to tear up but still angry. So has Mrs Denbrough. But she still says nothing.

Mr Denbrough: Bill!

Bill interrupts his father. He doesn't care anymore: Y-you have no idea w-what I've b-been through. *points to the other losers*. What we've been through. They're t-the only ones who have b-been there for m-me. The only ones! So to me they're my family! YOU DON'T GET JUDGE MY FAMILY!

Bill: And I dont have to stand here and hear it.

Bill turns around to leave with the other losers, who all started piling into Richies car when Bill turns around.

Mr Denbrough moves forward and stops Bill from leaving. He grabs his arm hard and hurting without realizing it. He's too deep in his anger. Bill freezes at the touch. Cold stone still.

Mr Denbrough to angry to care what he says: So you're just going to leave with these freaks? We know all about what you kids get up to! You know how much the town talks about the disgusting things you-

Bill doesn't let him finish, red fills his vision. Quick as a flash he turns around and punches his dad in the face. Breaking his nose. His dad curses, falls on his ass and holds his bleeding nose. Mrs Denbrough screams in shock.

Bill makes a move to jump on him(angry undesirable words of protective fury spilling out of his mouth)and continue hitting his father, but several different arms grab a hold of him to stop him. Bill doesn't hear what any of the other losers are saying. He just hears a high pitched rining in his ears and red in his vision. His blood burning hot. What finally calms him down is the sight of Mike standing in front him.

Mike cups his cheek gently and smiles, though theres worry in his eyes: Hey Big Bill. Hey. Calm down, look at me ok. It's alright. It's alright.

Bill starts to calm down. Breathing slow soft breaths. He keeps his eyes on Mike. Several of the other losers are hugging him.

Mike smiles, than kisses Bill soft on the mouth( kisses him in front his parents, where all of Derry and god can see. Being brave and not caring). Bill kisses him back softly. He feels his anger seep out of him. Finally calming down.

Mike moves away from the kiss, than leans his forehead against Bills: We are going to leave now ok? Ok Big Bill?

Bill nods, than he feels others move away from the group hug. Ben boldly hugs him around the middle, picks him up like he weighs nothing. All but drags him to Richies van. Bill doesn't look back.

Mr Denbrough and Mrs Denbrough: BILL! COME BACK HERE!

Ben brings him into the back of the van where Beverly sits, gets Ben to lean him on her lap(she runs fingers throughhis hair to keep him calm and comfort him). Stan's up front with Richie whos driving. Mike and Eddie both get into the back behind them.

Richie starting the car, lets him moter mouth run: Nice seeing you again Mr And Mrs Denbrough. You better get that nose checked Bill's punches hurt like a bitch. Though I never had any personal experience with that.

Stan in front with Richie, who puts a hand on his shaking wrist: Beep Beep Richie. Just drive ok.

Richie does. Driving the car away. All the losers hear one last angry cry of Bills name. But Bill doesn't turn back to look. No one does.

887 words a small one since I wanted to write something after rewatching it

I'd always known bill had a stutter ever since we were little kids he had one bug I really didn't mind it. it's not like he can really do anything about it so I don't know why people make fun of him all the time.

he asked me to come over and help him say sentences and shit?.. I don't know but as his girlfriend I guess it's my duty.

I really didn't mind since I would be with him anyway. we spend like every living second together, and we always had but the only difference now is the relationship.

"bill!!" no response. I heard his mom yell something about him being in his room from the kitchen though so I just decided to go up.

as I walk to his room I can hear his faint voice from inside it trying to pronounce sentences without stuttering.

wasn't going so great.

"he t-thrusts his fist againsts the p-posts- dammit!" I opened the door and smiled at him as I came into view by the doorway.

"I was calling you! your lucky your mom said something or I would've left" I know I wouldn't have but I just said it to get my point across.

I went over to sit on his bed as well closing the door behind me with my foot, I plopped down next to him.

"sorry y/n I'm d-doing something." I look down at the little flash card he has in his lap and read it to myself in my mind before reading it out loud.

“He thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts?" I mumble out confused and then remembered why I'm here in the first place.

"does this really help?" I ask taking the card out his lap and holding it up. "that sounded mean but I'm just wondering" flipping over the card to see nothing on the back before flipping it back over and handing it to bill.

"I d-dont really know I try it b-because my mom told me a-about it." he says before crumbling up the paper and aiming it towards the trash.

"hey no bill I wasn't trying to make fun of you or anything if you want to practice it then we can practice it." I sprung up from the bed and walked over to grab the piece of paper once again.

"it's stupid I w-wish I never had this s-stutter" I could tell it was dissapointing for him as I got up and saw him leaned back, laying on his bed now.

I walked over a laid beside him slightly pushing him so I could get space as he got the memo quickly and moved over himself.

even though he wasn't turned to me I turned towards him and started talking again "I think your stutter is cute. it doesn't bother me or anyone else so it shouldn't matter but I know you can't help the way you feel."

he turned over and gave a light smile with a slight tint forming on his cheeks "I'm f-fine with it m-most of the time. just when bowers and his g-gang say stuff."

"yeah I can get that." I added lastly before it went silent for a couple seconds as we just stared at eachother.

"bill bill!" we hear a little voice from outside the door come in and I realize it's georgie coming In all excited.

he saw us on the bed and bill groaned before sitting up "what's w-wrong georgie?" he asked in a slightly annoyed tone.

"hiya georgie." sending a little wave and smile I greet him with a more happy tone than his brother has.

"oh. sorry bill" he said sheepishly standing there with one leg behind his other and his head slightly pointed down.

"and hi y/n!" this time with a more excited tone much like before.

"I a-always tell you to k-knock!"

"be nice bill" I say flipping over so I'm sitting next to him on the bed and slapping his shoulder lightly at his tone.

"I just wanted to see if you could play" he sounded like he had a more saddening tone to his voice but I smiled at his words.

"it's alright georgie can I play?" I ask happily trying to get him to cheer up maybe if he hears my cheerful tone.

"your g-gonna ditch me y/n?" I hear bill say but I pay no mind to it as I see georgie smile in excitement.

"yes yes! of course you can!" "let's go then yeah?" I reply back and I see him nod happily.

I turn back to bill and kiss his cheek before grabbing georgies hand. "let's go!"

we run off and I hear another groan behind me and I look back to see bill getting up and trying to catch up to us.

"don't be such a debbie downer!"

You hummed quietly as you pushed against the wheels of your chair. Approaching your best friend’s driveway was the only way you could hang out with him, seeing how inaccessible his front door was. If you thought too hard about it, it didn’t give you the best feeling in the world, so you tried not to.

You saw him sitting on the floor, sketching in his notebook somewhat mindlessly. Upon hearing your quiet hum, he flipped a few pages ahead to a blank one. Looking up at you, he squinted from the sun shining in his eyes but smiled.

“H-Hi (Y/n). You’re the f-first to get here so we can wait for everyone else.” He said, standing up and moving to the couch his dad had put in the garage a few months ago. He realized how much more inclined he was to hang out there now that he was friends with you.

His parents were lovely, but he started to pick up on the sudden stiffness and overall negative feelings you had when they said certain things. About how they were sorry and glad Bill was so kind, which he was. It was one of his greatest qualities, but it was as if they only thought he was your friend because he was so kind.

“That’s alright. What were you drawing?”  You asked casually, backing your chair into the space of the wall that was just the right fit. You remembered when he moved aside a table so he could sit next to you. It was one of the moments that made you feel your heartbeat in your stomach, as he so often did.

“Oh, n-n-nothing. Just practicing shape l-language for objects.” He replied, sitting on the cushions in a way that made it easier to look at you. 

“Really? What are you trying to learn to draw?” You asked. He shrugged.

“Nothing in p-p-particular. I just think it’s a g-good skill to have.” He replies, closing his sketchbook and setting it aside. You smile and nod.

“Do you know when the other Losers plan on joining us?” You asked leaning on the arm of your chair.

“Right now.” A voice called from behind. You looked over your shoulder to the garage entrance, watching Richie, Eddie, and Stan enter. You smiled and waved, which only Stan returned. 

“What are we doing here? You never told us.” Eddie says, sitting on the far end of the couch. You were never sure why, but he always seemed much more tense. You could come up with a few reasons, but they weren’t good ones, and you hoped those weren’t the case.

“J-J-Just a movie night. I made popcorn and st-ocked the drinks.” Bill replied. You begin to self-propel toward the fridge in the far left corner of the room. You looked inside, seeing mostly cokes and water. You opted for the latter.

“Plus, if we run out, we can hop on (Y/n)’s wheelchair. They’re basically a bike.” Richie says with a snicker, placing both his feet on the back of your chair and causing you to become unsteady. You yelp in surprise, immediately swatting him off. You turn your chair to face him, a look of panic on your face.

“What the fuck Richie?” You shout. He raises his eyebrows.

“What?” He asks, lacking a single modicum of self-awareness. You’re so flustered and upset that you find it difficult to articulate your feelings. Bill stands up from the couch, stepping between Richie and yourself.

“Y-You can’t say shit like that Richie!” Bill exclaims, his ears turning red from anger as they always did.

“Why are you guys freaking out?” He asks, raising his arms in exasperation.

“C-Comparing (Y/n) to a bike? You don’t get why that’s f-f-f-fu-fucked up!?” He shouts, finding it harder to speak due to his anger.

“No? It was a good thing. Bikes are cool and they’d be helping us to the store.” He replied. 

“It’s fine Bill. Don’t worry about it…” You mumble, trying to maneuver around him.

“N-no (Y/n) I am w-worried about it,” Bill says, turning to look at you. There was a look in his eyes that made you feel warm and safe. 

“They said don’t worry about it so I think-“

“Fuck off Richie!” Bill yells as he whips his head around to stare at him, not a stutter in his voice. Richie backs away with his hands up in surrender.

“Whatever dude.” He mumbles, sitting next to Eddie on the couch.

You were thankful Bill was so quick to defend you, but the confrontation still made you uneasy and guilty. You wheeled your chair out of the garage and onto the driveway, stopping when you heard Bill coming after you.

“Where are you g-going? Are you ok-kay?” He asks, walking by your side. You sigh and stop wheeling yourself forward. You say nothing at first trying to figure out how to put your thoughts into words. Bill walks in front of you, so he can see you while you talk, a simple gesture but something so thoughtful.

“You’re the only one who treats me… Well, normal… Richie always has something to say, Eddie avoids me like he’s going to catch something and I just… I hate it.” You mutter, folding your hands in your lap. Bill sighs as he crosses his arms.

“I w-wish there was more I could do. I t-t-tell Richie all the time to quit his shit but he-“

“It’s not you Bill. You do more than enough. Sometimes it feels like you’re the only person I have in my corner.” You say, looking up to meet his eyes. He smiles, his eyes holding that same shine that made you feel so warm and safe.

“Y-You know, that’s exactly how I feel.” He replies. You tilt your head in confusion. Bill rubs his neck bashfully before shrugging. 

“You’re the only one who ever t-tells them to stop making fun of my s-st-stutter. Sometimes it feels like y-you’re the only one in my c-corner.” He replies. You smile, a warm glow rushing to your cheeks.

“We can be in each other’s corner.” You reply, giddily grabbing his hand. It takes you a second to realize what you’ve done before pulling back.

“S-Sorry I was just-”

“No! It’s okay!” He grabs your hand again, this time intertwining your fingers. “I l-like being in each other's corner.” 

“Pinky promise?” You ask, holding out your pinky. He chuckles and locks his pinky around yours.

“P-Pinky promise.” He replies.

“Now let’s go watch the m-movie. If Richie says anything else I’ll j-just kick him out.”

“Since when are you Mr. tough guy?” You ask with a giggle.

“S-Since I had to be in someone’s corner. I-it’s a tough job you know.”

you froze, your face heating up faster than a kettle on a stove. ❝i — it’s nothing! i didn’t know you were coming up!❞ you stammered, frantically trying to pull off the bow.

eddie, ever observant, stepped closer, his eyes scanning your makeup. ❝wait, you did this?❞

you nodded, chewing on your lip nervously.

❝it’s … really good,❞ eddie said softly, a small smile forming.

❝yeah,❞ beverly added, tilting her head to examine you. ❝you look amazing.❞

you blinked, taken aback. ❝you don’t think it’s weird?❞

❝nah,❞ mike said with a shrug. ❝it’s cool. different, but cool.❞

richie grinned, recovering from his initial shock. ❝dude, you look like a doll. in a good way.❞

you felt your cheeks burn. ❝stop.❞

stan, standing by the door, gave a small nod. ❝it’s not what we’re used to, but it suits you.❞

you swallowed hard, the overwhelming mix of embarrassment and gratitude bubbling up. ❝thanks, guys. i just… didn’t think anyone would understand.❞

ben smiled gently. ❝we’re your friends, y/n. you don’t have to hide anything from us.❞

bill stepped forward, his stutter barely noticeable. ❝y-you look h-h-happy like this. th-that’s all th-that matters.❞

richie clapped his hands together dramatically. ❝okay, okay, group vote — who thinks y/n should dress like this all the time?❞

you groaned. ❝richie, i swear —❞

everyone laughed, and the tension broke.

eddie nudged your shoulder. ❝but seriously, you don’t have to be embarrassed. we like seeing this side of you.❞

you glanced around at their smiling faces, feeling a warmth spread through you. ❝okay, but if anyone tells anyone outside this room …❞

richie threw his hands up. ❝scout’s honor!❞

and as they settled into your room, cracking jokes and asking questions about your style, you realized that maybe, just maybe, being yourself around them wasn’t so scary after all.
