The #United #States is the land of glory and #capitalism, full of hopes and dreams. Many die to live here; many would die to live here, and the worst part in all of this; the children are travelling alone. #American journalist, Sonia Nazario spoke today at Mount San Antonio College about her book, "Enrique's Journey," a Honduran boy looking for his mother eleven years after she left her family to find work in the U.S. She talked about #big #data analysis she used to write the story, and it hit home, my mother was deported three times from #Mexico back to #Guatemala by Mexican immigration, which is a public service, not a law enforcing organization.
In 2016, over 200,000 #central #americans were detained at the U.S. border.
"Out of an abundance of caution," the U.S. Department of Health and #Human Services (HHS) expanded their faculty to admit unaccompanied #children (UAC). The Refugee #Resettlement program added over 500 extra beds; reason being that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the HHS both recorded an increase of UAC and family menage's being arrested adjacent to the southwest border.
In 2014 Obama approved $750 million in aid for Central America after more than 68,000 UAC were detained. Majority of the children came from El #Salvador, #Guatemala and #Honduras. #Savethechildren #Trainbandits #Family #ImmigrationIssues #DemoTHEWALL
