The MTNN fandom is so small and we basically all follow each other already, but now I'm kinda interested to know some more specifics if anyone will humour me.

If you're a fan, please do tell me how you got into it and whether you read the manga or watched the anime first and all that. I truly do want to know :)

MTNN full anime is on the internet archive with subs btw if anyone wants to go down memory lane (or try a pretty fun series all in all)

It was fan subbed in 2007ish so warnings for dated humor/ableism “joke” subs but the manga is also getting a retranslation and scanlation on mangadex as well! If you want content warnings for the manga itself please let me know since it’s VERY large but honestly if you enjoy the first few episodes you’ll probably enjoy the manga. It diverges very early so it’s an almost completely different experience.

Guys go watch Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro (Demon Detective Neuro) (or Supernatural Detective Neuro idk there’s many translations for the show name) now it’s literally so good. It’s made by the creator of Assassination Classroom, it’s a detective show, and there’s demons and cool shit happens. At the beginning it’s more one off episodes but then around episode 9? Idk as soon as Phantomtheif Sai/X is introduced the plot picks up and there starts to be a story.

I will not negotiate. Go watch it now. It’s good. And I need this fandom to grow so it gets an official dub and official sub

I am immensely curious about where the second half of this summary comes from since thaaaat was not what the fight was about. Spoilers below

Neuro was a troll and pretended that he's never heard of KochiKame, called it boring (or "it must not have interested me"), and then told Korosensei to fight him if he didn't like Neuro's opinion. THAT'S when the art style shifts to a page of KochiKame as Neuro and Korosensei reenact the scene from volume 57 as Kankichi Ryotsu and Toden Hoshi, respectively. Nagisa remarks that Neuro must actually love KochiKame since he's doing a panel-for-panel, line-by-line recreation of the scene, and Yako confirms that he sure does. In the end, Matsui (through Neuro) gives a heartfelt speech about how hard Akimoto must've worked and yet still has the energy to want to move forward after the series, congratulates him on finishing KochiKame, then says he'd be honored to see him again in Jump.

I saw a couple of people saying that Alastor reminded them of Neuro, from his manga Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro (or mtnn), and, yes I totally agree, and I used to be such a fan of this manga, that i could even make an analysis with important panels and compare it to our deer demon and possibly predict an arc for him.

but there is something else that I haven't seen mentioned, and is that like Alastor, Neuro also has a business partner as a detective, who he both mentors and learns from and eventually acknowledges as his equal: Yako Katsuragi

And it's great for an inspiration for radiobelle/charlastor, whether your prefer it to be a romantic or platonic relationship.

In fact, there a whole mini-arc where she gets fed-up and leaves Neuro as his assistant, and while we are briefly fooled into thinking Neuro is unbothered, we quickly learn that this is not the case, at all.
