"I don't think that it's weird." Delilah reassured, head shaking. "Putting yourself out there, at any age, is terrifying. Believe me. And it doesn't get easier."
Which perhaps wasn't the soundest advice, but it was the truth; at least in Delilah's experience.
"But I will say that the hardest part is the showing up, which you've already done." She pointed out with a shrug. "If nothing else, you look good and get a decent meal out of the whole night. Maybe a funny story to tell."
And maybe, just maybe, leave with something more than that. Delilah wasn't holding her breath on it, but she imagined she had quite a few more years on the woman next to her to be the appropriate amount of cynical about this whole thing.
She blew out a breath as she contemplated her answer. "I'm torn between someone closer to my daughter's age than mine, my ex boyfriend, or...the owner of the Golden Hour Lounge."
(Though there was nothing outright horrid about the thought of a meal with Cassius, other than the knowledge that she would never hear the end of it.)
"So quite a wide net of worst case scenarios, unfortunately. But maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised." Or maybe just only mildly disappointed.

"Oh, I have no idea." Ariel frowned a little at the thought of that. Not that the question was an offensive one; she hadn't really thought about it, always hoping for the better-case scenario. Because hoping for the best case would be absolutely ridiculous. "Is it weird that I'm dreading it? Like, the idea's cool and all, but maybe I made the wrong choice by signing up for this."
Then again, at least everyone was getting something out of this, and a nice dinner was totally worth it... most likely. "What about you?" She asked the woman curiously, focusing her attention on her rather than the nervousness that was threatening to take over her. @delilahcarreno
