American-born driver Kay Petre, 1924 Delage, 10.5 litre V12-engined Land Speed Record car, Brooklands. Kay had large wooden blocks strapped to the pedals to allow her to operate them. In 1935 she took the Ladies Land Speed Record at 134.75mph in the car.

A Winning Delage

We are at Donington Park for the running of the Tourist Trophy race on September 3, 1938. Seen above is the Delage D6-70 entered and driven by Louis Gérard. He won this 100 lap race, a distance of 503 km. in just under 4 hours and 32 minutes with a winning margin of just over three minutes. Unusually, the Delage seen above had been initially prepared for racing whereas most versions of this model…
