Studio PBP Reimagined by Moonwoodhollow I love Del Sol Valley, it's a great world that unfortunately offers very little when it comes to the prebuilds, which is why I always steered clear of it, except for building in the less glamorous neighbourhood. When a lovely person commissioned me to rebuild Studio PBP in an Art Déco style I was a bit intimidated at first but thanks to the absolutely incredible Bioshock CC-Set (1|2|3) by @surely-sims, @doctorsimcraft and @lumenniveus I was able to recreate Studio PBP as a lounge/bar/nightclub worthy of Del Sol Valley and its celebrities. I hope you'll enjoy this build and escape to the roaring twenties with your sims!

Art Déco is one of the best-known architectural styles of the first half of the 20th century and originated from Jugendstil, Cubism and a few other art and architectural styles (Wiener Secession, Avantgarde, Futurism to name a few) in the latter half of the 19th century. While it's a global architectural style, there are a few regional differences, but for Studio PBP I concentrated on mostly US-American Art Déco buildings and used a somewhat less playful style for the facade that is still very bold. Since Art Déco was also hugely influenced by Ancient Egyptian art and architecture and Mesopotamian Architecture, I added some 'Egyptian' details to the lot in the forms of columns, sphinx and statues. There's so much more to write about this multi-faceted gorgeous architectural style, but this is meant only as a small introduction and to set the mood for the build:

So what do you get?

Studio PBP Reimagined is a 40x30 lot best placed in Del Sol Valley in the Starlight Boulevard neighbourhood. The lot is currently set as a bar lot but is playtested for the lounge and nightclub lot type as well. Currently, everyone regardless of their celebrity status can visit the lounge, if you'd like to change this you'd need to change the entry doors on the first floor. The lot consists of 3 floors and a huge outdoor pool area where your sims can lounge or swim. The first floor is designed to host the Starlight Accolades, whereas the 2nd floor is the bar area of the lot, where your sims can sip cocktails, and hold clandestine business or affair meetings... I won't judge! The 3rd floor is the nightclub portion of the building and is perfect for dancing the night away!

Uses items from the following packs: looks best with almost all packs. But a tip: take a look at the build in the gallery and click on the packs to see the items I used from that pack, it will also look good with fewer packs, as in without the kits.

Hey, finishing the mansion means I have every lot in Del Sol Valley rebuilt in the save file. That's nine residential worlds AND the two rental worlds (not Batuu) that I have finished! My goal to rebuild them all is coming along. Slowly.

Too bad they add worlds to this game faster than I rebuild lots 😒

I got bad news 😟

My Sims 4 was saved to my external hard drive and that hard drive recently got corrupted. I took it to a repair place and it would cost wayyy to much money to retrieve the data. Everything is gone 😢. I have learned a big lesson about backing up my files in another place. I knew this but of course I didn't think it could happen to me.

I plan to recreate my characters from the Macfreeling Royal Family save. Unfortunately we must say goodbye to Life in Del Sol Valley and My Legacy Challenge.

I am going to take some time to grieve this loss before rebuilding the Macfreeling Royal Family.

Winden Palace, Windenburg, 5:12pm

Isabella: She really is just a darling little girl, Heidi, great job.

Adelheid (Heidi): Thank you, Isabella.

Isabella (Bella): Please, all my friends call me Bella, you should too.

Victor: Can you two shut up? The men are trying to work here.

Bella: And the women are trying to talk. Take a break from that anyway, it’s time for tea.

Victor: I can’t take a break! Have you been reading what the media is saying about me? I need to come up with a plan.

Bella: I heard most people think better after they have food to fuel them.

Victor: I don’t want the damned tea, Isabella! Now hush!

Bella: You better not try to talk to me like that again, Victor. I’m not gonna sit meekly by and obey your every order, dressed up like I’m in the goddamn Handmaid’s Tale- no offense, Heidi, dear.

Heidi: …None taken? I think...

Bella: I’ve lived a whole life before you decided to marry me, a whole life as a businesswoman and a single mother so I will absolutely not take any bullshit from you, Victor.

Victor: I am your husband! I am your Emperor!

Bella: And I am telling you to sit down and join us for tea. Austin.

Victor: Austin is busy helping his father fight back against the traitor that is your son.

Bella: Austin is your son but Antony is mine? Very nice, Victor.

Victor: Are you paying attention to our position in this war? They have stolen my conquered lands. They have stolen one of my wives, two of my heirs, and two granddaughters. They defame my name in the press, claiming false reports of losing the people’s trust. I’m about to have a full-scale riot on my hands and then your son goes behind my back and treats with the enemy! I need a big move that will remind the people of the power behind the Lofton name, and to rebuild my empire!

Austin: You could try to retake some of the lands they took from you- Sulani, Tartosa?

Victor: That makes it just feel like a childish game of tug-of-war. I need a big move, Austin. Big. 

Austin: Go for one of her allies- Willow Creek, Oasis Springs, Del Sol Valley-

Victor: Brindleton. It’s perfect. Their ships are down here, in the South Sea, protecting the island nations from recapture. While they’re distracted, I could sail North, around Komorebi, and attack from the West. They’d never expect it!

Isabella: What about Komorebi?

Victor: What about them?

Isabella: They’re trade partners with the Empire, don’t you think they’ll try and stop you from passing through their ocean?

Victor: They’ve declared neutral in this war, they won’t attack. At most they’ll notify that Simsdom bitch about our location there, but by then it’ll be too late. Brindleton’s king is a 15 year old boy still in school, and is being governed by his geriatric mother. It’ll be easy pickings. And then I’ll have a foothold in the North East to invade Granite Falls and further into the Empire, where the borders aren’t as protected. She can’t fight a war on two fronts.

Isabella: I think it’s a bad idea.

Victor: I don’t care what you think.

Smith-Grunt

Jill Smith (83) - Buck Grunt (82) (After this, Jill and Buck passed away. Little did they know that their small house would be moved into by three young girls, determined to solve the Strangerville-mystery...)

Jill and Buck were quite young when everything began happening.

Buck had fought with his father and brothers since he was a kid. At the age of 16, he moved out and over to Jill’s. They were soon high school sweethearts and were busy being teenagers when things started happening over at the lab. They heard rumors that the Beakers (they were so creepy) had held a boy there, and their own children!

Not long after, Jill’s brother Johnny and Ophelia left. It was years later that she heard from them.

And then Olive disappeared. Maybe it was an omen?

Just as Jill and Buck welcomed their daughter Lyla - their Strangetown just went up in flames. Something happened over at the lab - killing the Beakers, Buck’s father and brothers Tank and Ripp; and Jill’s uncles Pascal, Vidcunt and Lazlo. 

Leaving only Jill's parents and younger cousin Tycho.

Grief struck over those who were still alive.

And they couldn’t stay, the air was too polluted. So Jill took her aging parents, her husband, her cousin and her daughter and moved. They named the place Strangerville and hoped to rebuild something here. They welcomed baby Notzo not long after.

Buck Grunt

It was perhaps a weird twist of fate that he too ended up in the military. But honestly, where else to find a job after everything had changed?

And maybe it was a way to honor his dad and brothers. As much as they had fought over the years, they had still been family.

Buck had to focus on his own family there for a while. Jill's cousin Tycho wasn't doing too great after the death of her father and uncles. And with Lyla and eventually Notzo, they had their hands full. Sure, Jill's parents tried to help, but they too weren't doing too great.

Jill built them a home, but Buck was then the one who managed to focus on the here and now. He took a job, raised the family and was a stability to Jill when she couldn't stop her mind for trying to find answers.

Sometimes, Buck figured, there were none to be given.

And so he had raised the kids, gone to work and tried to start over. Though he had to give it to Jill - those weird plants that started showing up around 25 years ago did freak him out a bit. And yes, he too had noticed how people acted so strange now and then...

Jill Smith

She's old, but that doesn't stop her. Lately, Jill has realized that even though everything had seemed like it ended in Strangetown, something new is happening here in Strangerville. Or is it connected?

When they moved here they had to build from the ground. People moved here from all over SimNation - most came from Del Sol Valley or Oasis Springs (as they are the closest areas). People who weren't afraid of the new and unknown.

The military had come too of course. Those first years they passed outside Jill and Buck's home almost daily - Jill assumed they had to see what had happened over at Strangetown. Jill and Buck had to give testimonies, but over the years the talk of Strangetown stopped.

However, it was as if Strangerville inherited so much of Strangetown. Here she found herself once again surrounded by scientists and military personnel. She understood that a new lab had been opened. She tried to figure out what they did, but both she and Buck found their questions unwelcome.

And she didn't like that Roswell-family. Now Ted was Mayor, after his father's passing. But both Senior and Junior had something to do with that lab over there. Sure, Ted had only been 19 when the spores came, but Jill was certain he knew more - and probably knew something about why that lab closed...

And then, new scientists had shown up, and with them the conspiracy theorists. She had to give it to them, and their online forums - there was a lot of theories and sometimes some good facts to be found there.

But now she has to rest. She is old, and she knows she probably won't live to find all the answers she's looking for.

Hi there!

Time for another update - and another change in plans. The reason is, of course, the new pack that will come out next month! I am looking forward to it, which may be because the German name is more fitting than the English one. If I had to translate it back to English, it would be “From Hobbies to Business”, which is exactly what’s in the pack description. The ability to turn a hobby into a business. Of course, the new opportunities call for some changes! Well, and my lack of experience with California does, too.

Coldwater moves to East Coast

During my research for this save file, I discovered that I can’t deal with California in the majority of my worlds. This is why I decided to move Coldwater, which will comprise Willow Creek, San Myshuno, Newcrest and Ravenwood to the East Coast. The New England states have a lot more in common with Europe, especially when it comes to historic architecture. And I won’t have to deal with the earthquake-dependant impact on architecture, which is also a win for me. During this relocation process, I decided to move Chestnut Ridge to Kentucky, so it will also be more towards the East Coast.

To explain my reasoning with architecture a bit more, let’s talk about this, first.

Climate

The first thing I want to talk about is climate. Not as in climate change, but as in climate zones. I live in a Temperate Zone, so this what I am familiar with. California, on the other hand, has five major climate types which I would have to take into consideration. New England, on the other hand, has a climate that is similar to the one I am familiar with - snow in winter, warm in summer. With the Atlantic ocean influence, I can imagine these conditions far better than I could with California! Think about things like rainfall, temperature, building materials and so on. And, most obvious, the roof pitch!

Earthquakes

While New England also has these, they are far less frequent than they are in California. This does have an impact on architecture, like building materials or even basements. In New England, I can easily put a basement on a house, without breaking the charm of the region. This is something that you would also find in Europe, especially in Germany, so this is something I am familiar with.

A wise person once said “The difference between East Coast and West Coast in the US is larger than the difference between Sweden and Italy” - and I think this is correct. While I still have Oasis Springs, Del Sol Valley and San Sequoia reflecting California, I will be more happy with the move. And so will my boyfriend, who is the main person I am building this for.

The Change of Planning

Of course, this means I also have to think about the change in planning for my different city parts. Let’s walk though the architectural styles of Massachusetts, where I want to locate Coldwater from now on. Of course, the city would have a longer history, dating back to the early 18th century. This will leave me with a variety of building styles to choose from:

Colonial Revival

Besides these styles, there are of course some more modern builds, following the 1950s. But I want to keep them to a minimum and focus more on the historic structure first. This also means, that I have to think about the history of the different parts of Coldwater before I start rebuilding what needs to be rebuilt.

Willow Creek

First, I will have a look at Willow Creek. This will remain one of the oldest parts of Coldwater, with a founding date approximately around 1680 - 1700.

Foundry Cove

Foundry Cove, however, was a later addition. In the early 19th Century, there was a Window Factory here, which went bankrupt in 1945, following the war. Today, the former factory has been transformed into a night club with some more adult additions in the upper stories, while one of the former buildings has been transformed to the laundromat/apartment you’ve seen before. This is a building I will keep. The Garden Essence lot will have two townhouses as residential rentals, while the remaining part of this lot will become a small market place/park for the community in this part of town. The transformed factory will be on Bargain Bend, while the Laundromat/Apartment will stay on Streamlet Single. The Daisy Hovel lot will also have row homes, which were constructed for the factory workers and serve as rentals today. This will leave us with the Crick Cabana lot, where I will place the house of the former Foreman of the factory as a Georgian style starter home. The building materials in this district will be Brick and Stone, to pay attention to the fire risk from the factory when the houses were constructed.

While I am at this part, I will also take a moment of time and think about the degree of furnishing. While a Georgian Home has space enough for up to 6 sims, I want to have it as flexible as possible. Therefore, I decided to build residential rentals fully furnished, while empty houses for sale will only come with a kitchen and bathrooms. This keeps the prices as low as possible, and will allow you to furnish the house as you like. For my boyfriend, however, I will create a fully furnished version, since he will have a mod to increase starting funds. And he would otherwise start deleting windows. I know him!

Courtyard Lane

Courtyard Lane, the northeastern Part of Willow Creek, will still contain a Micro Home on the Rindle Rose lot. I will, however, try to build one in a colonial style, which was popular in this region until well into the 1950s. The other builds will all be Residentials, including a small farm on the Brook Bungalow lot. Stylewise, I will stick with the Colonial Revival and Shingle Victorian styles, dating the construction of this neighborhood to the late 19th until mid 20th century. Most of these builds will be suitable for families with up to 8 sims, but those which I leave empty will be just furnished with a kitchen and the bathrooms, as stated above.

For the farm, I will create a space for a small farm shop on the lot, where cooking, fruits and vegetables, as well as meat, can be sold. This, as well as the laundromat, will play well into the functionality of the new pack, so I am pretty excited to build this.

When it comes to building materials, I will stick to siding options and shingles with some stone in this part of town.

Pendula View

Pendula view comes with 4 lots I have to build. I think, I will again stick to a certain timeframe when these houses were built, and pick from the respective building styles present in this timeframe. Since Pendula View is one of the oldest parts of town, I will build Georgian and Federal houses here, and maybe add a Greek Revival into the mix. Most of these have been in one family for centuries by now, so the lots will show some sort of Generational Wealth attitude, even if we are not talking “richest of the rich” here. I still plan to build a restaurant here, probably on the ground floor of a Georgian, which has been split to maintain the building and keep it in the family.

Sage Estates

The two lots of Sage Estates will belong to the wealthiest families of Willow Creek. They have been around since the founding of the city, and they love to show it off. Therefore, both of these will feature a Georgian build, in case of the larger one, including stables and extensive landscaping. Magnolia Blossom Park, which I will just include here, will still be a park and it will still have the small café in it.

Crawdad Quarter

Last, we have Crawdad Quarter. This is the “Business area” of Willow Creek. While I will put three families in here, they will all live above their shops. I will also keep the Library/Café combo planned before. When it comes to building styles, I think about some sort of Colonial or Federal builds, with the shop space planned during construction.

With all this out of the way, I will now gather floor plans and other things I need, and start rebuilding. Probably, these things will go much smoother now.

it's because of the lot i placed them on. the tiny park lot in del sol valley is bugged. again. so now i either have to rebuild that entire area in another world or completely rewrite the opening of the ep. :/

...and if i just canceled the series atp what then! this is grey! gorgeous grey! wth happened to him??? why did he just randomly get the del sol valley face bug??

Supernova Apartments is under new management at Vacuous Green

Eight unit dingbat-style apartment.

The Supernova Apartments got its name because it was known as the place where stardom goes to die. Celebrities moved here after the movie deals and advertisement opportunities dried up and they resorted to desperate measures to regain popularity. But, the new owners is hoping to change this perspective. After a PR revamp that deserves an award of its own, he’s managed to snag a few of Del Sol Valley’s top stars as new tenants and is making a start on giving the place a new face. The new amenities also help: maid service and an on-call butler, on-site dry cleaning, new gym equipment, massages available by appointment, and a naturally heated pool. Sure, the word supernova means star death, but when we look  up at the sky, those same ones shine the brightest, and so will Supernova Apartments, at least, after the last bit of renovations.
