I’m going to write something so based off my own experience.

Modern au

The forest was hushed, with only a slight breeze swaying the leaves nestled in the ground. Birds flew lazily above the canopy, and the ground was wet with early morning dew that had yet to be-

“Arransewes, udshastye!”

Oh right.

Today was the day the nerds were out.

From either side of the wood the groups clashed into one another. The man at the head had another’s tucked square under his arm.

“And will you beg?” He shouted at the man as he kept the others arm pinned beneath his chest. The warlord flailed, trying in vain to escape the arms of the dreaded pirate.

“What right have you on my turf, HAVE AT THEE!” The larger man’s elbow met the pirates solar plexus with a fevered swing. The pillager buckled beneath the impact, stumbling sideways before he extended his blade, clutching his side.

“You best watch what moves you make.”

“You’re a strange elf indeed, Captain Degroot. Perhaps me and my boys have underestimated you.”

The man snapped his fingers as a murder flew overhead. Tavishes head craned back, and he stared at the flock of birds. His pupil contracted, looking further past it.

His head snapped back into place with a wicked grin. His laugh sounded as if he pulled it from the depths. They racketed off the trees around him, causing the group of war forged to step closer around their leader.

The man looked concerned.

“What are you laughing at you loon?! Your crew turned tail, you’re alone with us now.”

“Alone!” The elf laughed, drawing out his cadence.

“Oh boy, you don’t know alone.”

In a moment the birds swooped down.

A myriad of shouts came from behind Tavish as he clutched himself. His smile was wicked as the watched his crew ambush the warlords fleet. They yelled back as they attempted a retreat.

Tavish watched as the crows swept down and encircled a man far behind, hidden in the shadows. His tattered robes fluttered around him, revealing a pristine suit beneath. His eyes are darkened and the crows stopped around him.

“Out of character for a moment,” Tavish said with awe. He pulled his phone out to snap a picture and looked down in adoration.

“How the hell do you control them like that?” He asked flabbergasted, moving closer to show the man the picture.

The smaller man excitedly shook off his hood, revealing the sweetest looking guy under. “Oooh! I look so eerie, you really wanna know how I control them?”

Tavish watched his hand move into his satchel and procure a recorder as well as some seeds.

“Food motivated. These little bugs only listen to me and my music if I feed them before and after or they’ll peck at my ankles.”

He threw some in front of himself and held the other half in his palm. He took another handful and emptied it into the cupped palms of Tavish.

His eyes widened as one of the female crows landed on him and started to chow down. He surprised a chuckle as the motions tickled him.

The sounds of crunching came towards them again, and the spirit of the game came back to the two.

With a determined gaze they both got back into position, transmorphing into Captain Degroot, and a Mysterious Druid.

As a haunting tune played on the Druids wooden recorder the crows followed slowly, matching Tavishes pace as he rolled his head through a stretch.

This time he’d be ready.
