Beautiful unloading day this past weekend at @monocacyriverpottery ... the waves of pots coming out of the 3-chambered noborigama revealed beautiful results and an exceptional firing overall. I always love the atmosphere on unloading days, when we gradually unveil the fruits of our collective labor, and experience the shared discovery of our transformed creations once they are all spread out on the tables bathing in sunlight, beckoning to be handled and inspected. This moment when we discover our own and each other’s work sparks discussions with peers and draws out our curiosity, a feeling reminiscent for me of the inner child manifesting. Very happy with my work this time and impressed and inspired by the work of my peers as always. It’s the nature of wood firing to be both unforgiving and generous, at times brutally revealing the weaknesses in our work, while sometimes blessing us with unimaginable gifts. Looking forward to sharing more pictures of the process and results. Aujourd'hui je defourne les créations des élèves...des pots, des portes savons, des décorations de Noël, des cocottes... Autant de porcelaines qui vont faire le bonheur de leurs créatrices. Au labo de Corinne, de multitudes mains jouent avec la terre pour la transformer... c'est tellement magique...je suis si contente de voir mes élèves progresser à chaque fois un peu plus. Loin d'être académique c'est un atelier où chacun et chacune s'exprime... quelque soit leurs motivations.
