SCREAM. hi. i genuinely do not know yet, im still waiting on my first prototype to arrive and i have zero experience selling merch so it'll be a while, bear with me! current (tentative) plan is to do a kickstarter to make sure i break even bc i very much cannot afford to manufacture a bunch of charms that aren't gonna sell, so in theory preorders would happen via kickstarter and leftover sales would go up on another site (probably etsy? tbd) after the kickstarter finished assuming we reach the goal. currently I'm planning to price them at somewhere around $15 apiece before shipping, which, at the current manufacture price, would mean i only need to sell 16 to break even (but that's not factoring in shipping costs which i'd have to figure out once the prototype comes in and i can confirm its weight & how i plan to ship it, and this is assuming my first prototype comes out absolutely perfect which i doubt will happen.) all of this is pretty far in the future tho bc the manufacturer im looking at rn takes a good 20 days to even ship the goods after manufacture, and my prototype hasn't even actually been made yet. i will def let yall know as things progress tho!!!

i've finished the demo! do you think the last scene will change depending on origins? there is a possibility like alchemist would be more link to leander. it's advertised as a dark gothic romance novel for mature audiences but i think since the game is nowhere near finish, they cannot put an age rating on it yet.

oh, i didn't realised you could add additional items to your tier, i'm new to kickstarter so i have no idea lol. that's good but i've heard the cost of the shipping is pretty expensive too.

ais might be the true route for the game like with other otome games, you have to play the characters in certain order to reach the final/canon ending/route.

there are character sheets??? i feel like mhin is a character that grow on you and leander is the ideal one to start with and vere, you either love or hate him.

really? i thought ais intro was intense esp with that soundtrack! his music theme is the most memorable one. if there are changes, hopefully they will just add more piercings to sen or something like that considering she already have a nose ring.

ah geez, i didn't expect the new final fantasy vii figures (the new bring arts of the og designs) were gonna be this tiny. i sorta expected them to be more like the play arts kai ones, esp since they're only $20 cheaper. but they're like the size and width of a play arts kai's leg. i guess i shoulda looked at the listing dimensions, but idk dude. for a $130 (preordered, before se overpriced shipping), this is a bit ridiculous. isn't any bigger than those 90s extra knights figs.

don't get me wrong, i'm still glad i bought it? or i guess "i still def woulda wanted it" is more accurate. like they're 10x nicer than older og design figs. it's the quality the orig ff7 characters deserved. but still, fuck dude. i know i got ripped the fuck off. even tho it's og tifa.

on toppa all that, this is the longest i've waited on a preorder fig. i feel like it was 3 years. square even switched websites in that time (i have a sneaking suspicion i got charged twice, but it was so long ago...). like imagine waiting three years and potentially paying almost $300 for somethin barely 5 inches tall. i ended up preordering barret from the same set, from a dif place way closer to release, for like $80? but that still seems like way too much. even for squareenix, who are the kings of overcharging for their merch, this feels scammy. btw, big surprise the figs come with an nft (that i nor anybody else wanted), so maybe that's part of the grift idk.

anyways i still love the fig itself, even if it's small. but it's a massive ripoff if you buy it from se directly. before i was considerin maybe trying to get one or two more from the set, but fuuuck that dude.

Eventho I don't exactly have the finances for it at the moment I'd love to see Danny Phantom merch from you (I know you did a few things a while back? Or I might be misremembering). But in general, I feel like it's a great idea to the 2000s internet nostalgia vibes I see in your furry merch. Just dial it up to 100 with that stuff. There is a huge resurgence in interest for specific early 2000s/2010s internet subcultures and I feel like you, as someone who has an emotional connection to that era, could produce some great merch based off of that! No idea how feasible it is, but I feel like making small custom acrylic charms and adding them to kandi style bead bracelets could be an interesting idea (Semi related: did you know you can buy glow in the dark beads? I'm obsessed with them). Sparkle animal stickers using pride flag color palettes are also something that is likely to sell, and something I think you might have fun designing. Also, this is just a very personal opinion and not necessarily a suggestion, but I personally really love buying edgy stickers and pins on etsy? So if you ever feel like taking a step away from cute furry merch to sell something with blood and monsters with sharp teeth and claws and fucked up anatomy, know that there's a market for that :P I know regardless of what you choose to create and sell it's gonna look phenomenal tho!

ok re: cosplay stuff--im def gonna let go of some things because I dont have as much of an interest in it anymore, and not as much drive because id rather focus on my art or writing or buying merch and stuff... I def am gonna still do it at cons but probably not a ton.

I weeded out about half of my wigs I want to part with for sure. Some it was kinda hard (like N Harmonia’s wig) but its for the best... I may still buy some more wigs but itll be by a case-by-case thing instead of holding onto every cute wig I see and hoping Ill find someone to cosplay lol. tho rn I am looking at a cute grey one (for yuri petrov whos outfit is basically just reigens lol) and a blond one (very useful for DC cosplays)

I may see about my costumes but most of them its less sell and more retire. 

i know for sure im keeping my jjba ones (johnny, giorno, narancia), allen dgrayman, kate bishop (tho i need to fix her up), jason todd (still a wip but lol), and reigen. minerva and juno become best friends after a night when both of them were working a super late shift and they just ended up talking for hours. they talked abt minerva's culture on Five and how it compared to growing up on Earth and juno heard minerva's battle stories (some valiant, some regretful) and minerva learned all about how juno got into the forestry service, and the two of them just really click

also i firmly believe that, on her planet, minerva is funny as hell, it's just 1) learning Earth humor and 2) realizing that, while on Earth she is seen as exuberant and loud, most people on minerva's planet were just that energetic

duck, aubrey, and thacker, whenever they're all on earth together, always get lunch together to hang out. they then either go to the cryptonomica (even thacker bc, even if he never met ned, he still has respect for him and really feels like he wouldve liked the guy) or amnesty lodge

mama tries to keep it on the down low but, when she knows thacker is coming back to earth, she keeps a little personal countdown bc she misses her best friend a lot

hollis, keith, and jake are all best friends again and jake is the #1 holleith supporter

hollis and aubrey become best friends and hollis takes her out on their motorcycle and they absolutely get the whole "now listen here, bring her back in one piece or else" talk from mama

while travelling together, the quell becomes even more curious abt thacker's life and, kinda like a juno-esque situation, she's really inspired by him

aubrey is unsurprisingly really into halloween and dani, even tho it's not a sylvan holiday, celebrates it with her and they come back to earth to carve pumpkins and decorate with the folks left at amnesty lodge

also some domestic headcanons i have just bc i love domesticity: aubrey and dani adopt sylvan twins and their sylvan forms are what we would picture merfolk like? like with the more webbed ears/hands and gills and sharp teeth but also arms and legs (with fins on them). it also seems implied that duck and minerva have kids but im still putting thought into their domestic sphere bc i dont bs domesticity

kirby, aubrey, dani, hollis, jake, and keith all become a fun little group

fun little group B is duck, minerva, dr drake, leo, and juno. basically chosen club +1 bc they all love juno

mama and thacker are on their own and also roam everywhere bc they're just like that

i think reputation era had her best merch but i honestly didn’t really like the red or 1989 era merch besides the fact that she always did album blankets (i have the red album blanket and i would go to war for it).

you can kinda see the transition from 1989 era to reputation era where she made merch that was more wearable as everyday clothes in the reputation era while the 1989 era was more like a “PLAYERS GONNA PLAY PLAY PLAY PLAY” situation

Not to get political, but generally just curious as a non american as to how you feel about the elections going on. I mean its everywhere here in Canada so I can only imagine how crazy it is there. Majority of ppl here are def feeling the Bern tho lolll I wanted to buy his merch and even donate but couldnt cause he cant accept outside donations. so apparently P5R just usurped P4G and is now the best selling Persona remake/remaster/whatever; how do ya feel?

Dunno why I didn’t see this, phone’s not giving me updates it seems. ;w; Anyway.... Short Answer: Meh, I really don’t care, I’m more interested in Scramble/Strikers numbers. Long answer tho....(gonna be long, not a rant just I’ve had A LOT of thoughts about sales numbers since P3/5D’s and PQ2′s releases).

I’m not surprised, I mean it’s a remake on a mainline console, combined the fact that it was popular too (I’ll come back to this when I talk about the other Persona games but for now put a pin in that). But there are two things I’m more interested in, 1) P5R’s lifetime sales, and 2) Scramble/Striker’s numbers.

1) Will possibly show how many newcomers we’ve retained. And I’m interested in that because....P5 sold a few million right? If Atlus can retain that that’d be amazing! We won’t know till the Western releases tho. But if it doesn’t, and sells say.....as much as P4G’s life time sales, then....all P5 did was retain the hardcore original audience, it didn’t win over as many new people as we thought it did. Which isn’t a failure, but it’s.....a crude way to say it (sorry I just woke up words are hard), it’s that P5 isn’t as really as hot shit as we all thought it was (and it probably just sold well due to timing and crazy marketing). 

2) What I REALLY want to know is P5S’ sales tho, even more than P5R’s. Since I think that might indicate P5′s standing if it’s as much as a fan favorite as P5 vanilla′s sales show. And it might be the first time we have a clearish answer without any other possibility being the reason for sales numbers. Lemme explain, P5R might do well because is a mainline game instead of a spinoff (but it could do meh compared to P3P and P4G in terms of lifetime sales due to the new comers not wanting to rebuy the game for whatever reason: Same console [which is a double edge sword, PS4 is popular but also people might not want to buy the same game for the same console twice], not worth the price, not enough new changes in their eyes). P5D did poorly, but is it because it was just bad, was it cause of the shitty DLC practices, was it because it didn’t have a lot of content (aka no real plot like P4D)? We don’t know. PQ2? Was it cause it was bad, was it cause it was released on a dying console (as opposed to PQ1 being released at the peak popularity of that console), was it on a console that P5 was it released on, was it cause it featured P3/4 cast and it was aimed at P5 audiences who have no idea who those people are? We don’t really know (this one is probably the dying console tho, which means could it have done well/better if released on the Switch instead?). Did both do bad cause they weren’t really sequels (both technically take place during P5 so yeah)? But P5S? It’s releasing on two very popular consoles, and it’s set as a sequel, so far doesn’t look like there’s a lot of scummy practices going on, actually looks like it has content (so if there are some scummy DLC practices, at least that’s not the ONLY thing you can think about, like with P3/5D). It has A LOT going for it in terms of a spinoff, that even non hardcore/new fans can get into. And I want to know what kind of impact P5 left on the fanbase as a whole and so far it’s not doing so hot spinoff wise (maybe anime too, when the anime was still in the middle of it’s run it wasn’t doing as hot as P4′s first anime or P3′s movies....at least sales wise I found, but that was in the middle maybe it got better), merch sales are probably doing fine tho (since they keep announcing new things). So to me P5′s......all over the gd place. 

tldr; I think P5S will show us a decent idea on how P5 as a series is doing compared to P3/4, it started off strong with it’s main game but has struggled with it’s spinoffs which might be because of other reasons than people just being “meh” on it. P5R will be a good chance to see how many people stayed. 

Now let’s look at the other games. You should know, considering hurdles P5 didn’t have (except maybe P3P, but on the other hand it probs could’ve excelled more on a home console), the modern day Persona games (Tadashi/Old games got screwed and I’ll explain but it’s probably for the same reason as PQ2, or at least for P2EP) did well despite these hurdles, well both original and remakes but I’mma focus on the remakes (all you need to know about P3 Vanilla and FES and P4 vanilla is that they were both released post PS3 and/or towards the end PS2′s life cycle and still did great).

Now P3P probably had the easiest, released during a very popular time for the PSP, and it ended up selling better than EITHER of it’s two PS2 counterparts Life to date (now if you cheated and combined Vanilla and FES, then yeah P3P sold 80,000 less than those two/all their versions, but that’s 2V1 and it’s still amazing how well it did).There was def an uptick in sales, maybe it was all newcomers or maybe it was half old and half new people, but it still resulted in more people buying it than it’s original (which is why I still wanted to talk about it despite it not having the same hurdles as P4G). 

P4G however, that’s where the biggest hurdle comes in (and why I really bring this up). The Vita. A console that sold peanuts compared to the PSP, PS2, PS3, and PS4. No, less than peanuts. 10/15 Million compared to the 80-150 million the other 4 ranged from. I mean yeah a million is a lot, but now you need to market to those million, no, you need to get people to BUY this console first (it was released roughly when the Vita dropped). You need to convince people to ditch their PSP, for a console that isn’t backwards compatible, for this semi-obscure Japanese title. But god damn it did, it almost got all it’s sales from the PS2 back. Hell it exceeded it’s original run L-t-D if you don’t count “The Best” re-releases (Vanilla’s cheaper re-release sold more than P4G’s cheaper re-release). I don’t know if these are also new people, or all hardcore fans, but it did really damn well! It got people hyped and it got people to buy this game AND console! (tho I wouldn’t be surprised if it was at the sacrifice of poor P2:EP, may you rest in peace ;w;). And that was a BIG hurdle for it to overcome! 

Like P3P and P4G really make me wonder how well they’d do with a real remake on the PS4/PS5. Like a port would probs do well, but imagine if they actually improved the graphics and changed/added new things, I think it’d sell about as well as P5 vanilla. 

P5R’s biggest hurdle is justifying itself as a full price game remake on the same console. But like FES could do that (so I think P5R’s outlook is fine, no real hurdles like P4G had to go through)....and just for fun cause I hate myself (jk I dunno I just wanna see if I can take a guess at JPN’s possible sales based off of numbers of past re-releases). And FES’ first week compared to it’s vanilla is 10% higher than Royal, but Royal has more units sold obvie, FES sold about 80% the total the vanilla did, Royal did 70%, L-t-D for FES was 78% not counting cheaper-re-releases, 82% counting re-releases...but I think that’s because P3 Vanilla didn’t have a re-release cause of FES. If I use that as a base.......P5R’s numbers (going off of the graphs from Personacentral like this one and of course the P5R one, which I think are all Japanese sales). If P5R follows a similar patter to FES’ sales %.... I’ll give P5R 72%-82% of Vanilla’s sales (including the cheaper re-release), and we’re looking at maybe L-t-D sales of Royal ranging from about 334,955 to 381,476 units sold. 

If Royal follows a similar pattern to P4G however (cause P5R is more similar to FES and P4G, I’ll do P4G’s too for fun, but I won’t do P3P’s). So there are two life to date numbers, one before factoring in P4/P4G’s re-releases and one after. Before P4G sold about 111% more than vanilla, after re-releases it sold about 96% of Vanilla’s total units. So a low ball and high ball of Royal with P4G’s % would be.....446,606 to 516,389 units sold. 

So combining those two together, I predict (aka this is a theory that I wanted to do for fun for WHATEVER reason, made by someone that JUST woke up and trying to get my math out as quickly as possible, maybe if I have time next week I’ll go back and check my work....I’m very busy this week sadly ;w;) P5R’s L-t-D (pre- cheaper re-release)sales to be somewhere to be 334,955 to 516,389 for Japan. 

But that’s Japan, Japan it feels like they’re more willing to re-buy games on the same console, the West might not be as inclined tho (if we re-buy something, it’s because it’s on a different console). So while P5R could sell about as well as Vanilla did in Japan, I dunno so much about the west. 

tldr; P5R did about as well as I thought in Japan, but not sure about the West. Some number predictions for P5R. If P5R does poorly in the West it could be because it’s was released on the PS4 instead of a different system. P5S I think will give us a better idea on how P5 is doing as a franchise compared to P4.

(also I should note, I prefer vanilla P4 over P4G, there’s some good stuff in P4G, but 1) I prefer Tracey Rooney as Chie, I prefer her down to earth approach more, and 2) there’s some things in P4G that ruins my enjoyment and outweighs the new positive stuff. I like all the remakes barring the guy who directed P4G/P5R, I haven’t finalized my thoughts on P5R yet tho. I do like Kasumi more than Marie tho just on a personality level, still thinking over how they handled her tho. A LOT HAPPENED TODAY…

i knew the sweet hot merch was dropping today because it’s good old bandcamp friday. what i did not know was that there was gonna be a lovely fresh single paired with it.

i also stumbled upon DEFS. i searched for RJM on youtube which usually has brett domino as the first result. but it didn’t this time, it had RJM come up first with a different pfp, DEFS.

i was a bit confused then absolutely FLABBERGASTED by the fact he’d only gone and done a leave the door open cover. not to mention the fact it was by this so called “DEFS”.

so this project has been going on for a while now and somehow it’s gone completely under my radar which is a bit embarrassing.

the point is im part of the DEFS party now!

it’s come at such a perfect time for me. i was watching old rocco la bête videos and tried seeing if his website was still up and it wasn’t. which was a shame. i felt kinda sad that RJM wasn’t really doing much for the “madinverse” per se. back then it seemed like all these crazy characters were knocking about and had all their own social media pages, websites and songs. but at the minute it’s only really brett and rob doing stuff given c-bomb has been inactive for ages. turns out i was WRONG! (btw im excluding APPLZAFT because there wasn’t really a persona attached the project)

this character seems c-bomb adjacent in terms of /character/ with the spiky hair, big glasses and brash tone. also with the whole “PRE-EMINENT. POST-PUNK. SHEFFIELD.” ordeal. okay now listen, i don’t know anything about music so i can’t tell you what genre this is or who he may have been inspired by. the only punk i’ve listened to extensively is stuff by the tuts. i guess i know punk from lady parts too but YEAH OKAY SO THE GENRE IS PUNK!!

c-bomb had a “political song” (mutha nature) but it wasn’t really punk-esc (yeah he’s EDM but i mean in terms of lyrics). but DEFS is very steamroller, the track not the album. honestly it’s overall very on brand for RJM if you think about:

motifs but i’ll spare you. i’ll be mainly talking about so sue me! first of all, when i found out the difference between initialisms and acronyms a few months ago i was blown away. i told everyone i knew but he’s taken it a step further and put it in this song.

he talks about the mundane and how it continues until the world ends. which is why i said it’s similar to MOTRC (when’s the earths just dust and dying embers), fireball (if we’re ever in the middle of nuclear war) and trees (will someone tell me how it’s going to end // how much time have we got to spend). the things he lists at the start (will they just go on forever) is so perfect. i love weird stupid stuff like that, things that i’d like to ask if they’d go on forever are: ipads, the bachelor, oodies, starbucks, wordle and liquid eyeliner. he does a similar thing in blackberry: am-dram phantom //!road race on tandems // …overpriced candles // … reaching out the fandom.

after the silly stuff he actually says some serious stuff. after a quick google apparently punk critiques “pop culture and conventional society” which is basically what happens. societal issues being the monarchy and the working week (anti-capitalist yet some how just released a song call buy stuff! lol i know it was ironic. plus im supporting a *smaller* artist directly not doing a haul off shein.)

tbh i can’t understand some of it because i’m terrible with these things and maybe also a bit because of his accent i’m sorry.

back to the acronyms, i feel like he always has to add someone sciencey. in this it’s lasers, previously (most notably on steamroller the album) it’s been mentions of acrylamide, dysprosium with opposing magnetic charge, hydrogen peroxide, bituminous coal. funk also has similar stuff with ngc4945 which actually has NASA in it. i just love the physics lyrics. even tho i do not understand physics and it was my second worst subject i adore mentions of supernovas, black hole entropy, thousand watt incandescent bulbs, the earths curvature and the hippocampus.

okay i went really off topic. but anyway there’s a little skit part after that which SCREAMS alistair green (i was gonna say alastair campbell that would be very wrong). not that RJM hasn’t done skits before, but this one reminded me a lot of mr alistair green rather than stuff he’s done as brett.

it’s also good just to see him scream!!! go girl let it all out.

there was obviously a reason why he hadn’t mentioned this project on brett domino or RJM (at least i don’t think did? maybe he said something on instagram i gave no idea) and i’m not gonna pretend to know that reason. regardless i’m glad he’s having fun with it. it seems that way anyway! he’s mentioned through c-bomb that sometimes it feels like you gotta produce “content” for “the man” and that some people say his political stuff is “not what they signed up for” so having this be completely seperate from BDT and RJM makes sense. i’m glad he’s able to say and do the things he wants to say that he can’t necessarily say through brett.

i love what’s he’s doing and i don’t care how he does it. it’s his art. social media (and the algorithm) is a bitch and whether or not it positively impacts creative work is still being debated.

bonus: as someone who’s trans queer and asian it’s so fucking amazing that my favourite artist is involved politically (in a good way aka not a right wing nut). i think a lot of people can relate to this actually. (shoutout to those who’s favs are political satirists)
