oh my god. holy shit. deez nups. the entire buttering-up of seeing lassiter happy the whole episode only for the shules event at the end..? the look on shawn’s face is horrible. just seeing the moment where he realizes that nothing he ever did was good enough for anybody; that his life and choices in life aren’t worth the effort he put into them. where no matter how much good he does- how many murderers he catches; he’s a failure above all else. it’s a direct parallel to his relationship with his dad; the way that he has to choose profession or love and neither way is a good option. where love sculpts you into an ugly vision of self where you only live to please others; and profession offers you joy but only at the expense of never being able to be yourself. shawn doesn’t win in either of these scenarios and he can’t because there’s no way to. no matter what happens after this episode; I don’t think shawn will ever be fully redeemed as a concept; as a character? sure, they need to keep the plot moving. but as a person? in real life that kind of thing doesn’t just disappear after a couple of filler episodes, it lingers and reminds you that people love you until; until they meet a part of you they don’t like, until they figure out a part of you that they didn’t want to. and it’s your fault for being broken; it’s your fault for having that part; that indescribable part that even you aren’t too sure you’d like to share. but they see it, and all the time before that is only until.

have i mentioned how much i hate how they handled the break up resolution in season 7? because oh my god i hate it i fuckingg hatebit so much

they get back together off screen, shawn doesn't change or grow in any way, all the teust being built back up happened off screen, j just like decided she didn't want to know how they really solved cases like ????

so so so unsatisfying i hated it

the beginning was so good, the way she found out, her response to being lied to and gaslit, him explaining while they danced together, her saying she needed time to be emotionally vulnerable w him again and then they hook up, the conversations aboit how they both feel, shawn tryong to impress her with his detective skills like it could have been so good but ahawn never fickign changed or improved himself it makes me want to scream

idk why but I was convinced that 7x01 was the episode where juliet finds out shawn isn't psychic and they break-up. but it is not. and I have no idea when that happens now.

objectively true that psych s7 is possibly the weakest season in terms of average episode cleverness in the first half but i am actually convinced that thats what makes the shawn is lying reveal scene 38393 times more one-hit KO unrecoverably devastating

im rewatching psych and i got to the episode where juliet finds out and like... i can't help but think this whole thing could be avoided if jules didn't believe in shawn wholeheartedly, like if she knew he wasn't psychic and was just him being stupid but let it happen anyway cause it gets results or if she was even a little more skeptical and listened when lassie said he wasn't psychic but jules was just a little too green at the start of the series and too sweet and trusting and so she believed shawn when he said he was psychic even with lassie constantly saying he isn't and i just.....idk man it's just a testament to juliet's character that she was completely blindsided by this reveal and that even though she had everything she needed to put it together she didn't until she couldn't ignore it anymore

Bonkers lines about love that they put into innocuous movies and tv with no warning make me go insane. An incomplete list. Add yours.

“I love you” “I know” Empire Strikes Back 1980- an obvious but still bonkers line. Probably where it started.

“I love you” “I know” 2x6 Epidemiology, Community 2010- how they got this in there between Troy and Abed will haunt me forever and I love it.

“I love you” “It will pass” 2x6 Fleabag- another classic but come on. I knew they said this and it still hit me like wet cement, sticky, messy, probably not coming off easily or anytime soon.

“I think I already died before you got here, but I woke up when I heard your voice” “Needy sobbing” Jennifer’s Body- may or may not be the prompt for this list because wow, that line hit me like a train. I’d heard a lot about the movie and even so many gif sets but that scene was something else. One of the better teen romances and a beyond tragic death scene? That movie really does have it all.

“I love you” “I’m sorry” 5x17 The Outcast Star Trek: Next Gen- the final exchange between Riker and J’naii almost had me crying. An apology for someone loving you??? What is more heartbreaking

“What do you say we’re doing?” “I call it very close talking” 2x9 Bounty Hunters! Psych- I mean come on. I can’t not include Psych in this. If you know me, you know I’m not a huge fan of Shules but this line right here is another level. If they had kept this energy through their relationship, I could have been a lot more on board. As it is, I think this scene and their break up in Deez Nups are their two best scenes.

“With the ogre I married”- Shrek 2- this set my standard on another plane. Her voice, his willingness to change completely, their shared “flaws” forging them into a stronger couple…

That’s all I have for now but add yours. I’m in the mood and want to see what makes you go crazy.

so I’m watching s7e7 (Deez Nups) and Shawn just gave his jacket to Juliet, and for a split second at the end of the shot, it looked like she had found something in it. and combined with the way he kissed her hand at the ceremony after Lassiter kissed Marlowe’s hand……

anyway just for the record, I’m predicting now that the ring is in there 👀👀👀

Psych Fanfic: Immersion Therapy

Juliet is still reeling from Shawn’s betrayal. It’s been weeks since their breakup, and just as she’s trying to pick up the pieces, a dangerous criminal from Shawn’s past escapes prison. Juliet is suddenly forced to confront old wounds and work with the man who broke her heart.

As Shawn grapples with resurfacing trauma from the case that had him shot and kidnapped, he’s determined to prove himself to Juliet once more—even if it means reliving the worst moments of his life.

Juliet picked up her mug with both hands, taking a moment to let the warmth seep through her palms. She sat down in her office chair and breathed in deep, the pleasant scent of coffee relaxing her instantly as she tuned out the hustle and bustle of the station around her. Not that the relaxation would last long. Since Lassiter’s wedding two weeks ago, she hadn’t felt calm—just anger and a chest-aching sadness.

Shawn had finally stopped calling. He wasn’t popping by her apartment anymore or showing up at the station. Still, every time someone walked into the station, she found herself scanning for tousled brown hair and familiar hazel eyes, unsure if the knot in her stomach came from dreading his presence—or hoping for it.

She scowled and took a sip of her coffee. It certainly wasn’t because she wanted to see him. He was a liar. More than that, Shawn Spencer, ‘psychic’ detective, had completely, irrevocably shattered her heart. The only decent thing he’d done was stop reaching out when she’d demanded space. If he’d ever cared, he’d give her that much.

Juliet grimaced, recalling the despair on his face when she’d screamed at him, cutting off his attempts at an explanation.

“I don’t want to know!” she’d screamed, even putting her hands over her ears like a child. “I don’t want to know how you lied and tricked and manipulated everyone into thinking you're psychic. I don’t care!” He’d shrunk back as she’d stepped forward, her entire body trembling. “I want you to leave me the hell alone and give me some damn space!”

“Okay, Jules,” had been his whispered response and he’d walked out of her apartment, the backpack he’d stuffed his clothes and toothbrush into slung over his shoulder. 

At least he’d kept his word on that. She hadn’t seen or heard from him since.

The clearing of a throat behind her made Juliet jump and nearly spill her coffee. Juliet swiveled in her chair.

“Detective O’Hara.”

“Chief.” Juliet felt her cheeks burn, realizing that she’d been at the station an hour and hadn’t so much as logged into her computer.

Chief Vick’s lips pressed into a thin line as she scanned Juliet up and down. “I’m afraid I have some bad news.”

Juliet’s heart pounded. Shawn.
