MS Dhoni Playfully Describes India Star as Addictive: "He is like a drug. If he's around, you'd think why is he here"
MS Dhoni, one of the greatest cricketers in history, is known not only for his on-field brilliance but also for his magnetic personality. During the IPL 2023 season, while leading the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to their fifth championship, Dhoni showcased his unwavering spirit despite playing with a knee brace due to injury. His never-give-up attitude and calm demeanor have made him an inspiration for many.
Recently, at the trailer and audio premiere of the Tamil film 'LGM,' produced by Dhoni Entertainment, MS Dhoni made a witty comment about his CSK teammate Deepak Chahar. Reflecting on their friendship, Dhoni humorously stated that Chahar is like a drug, and his presence can evoke both curiosity and amusement. Dhoni playfully remarked, "If he is not there, you would think, where is he- if he is around, you would think, why he is here - the good part is that he is maturing but he takes time and that is the problem, in my lifetime, I won't see him matured (with a smile on his face)."
This lighthearted remark highlights the significance and influence of Deepak Chahar in the CSK team, with Dhoni equating him to a "drug." While Chahar's development has been impressive, Dhoni playfully suggests that it may take some more time for him to fully mature. Chahar has been a valuable member of the CSK setup, with the team investing a record fee to acquire him in the IPL auctions.
Deepak Chahar, in turn, expressed his admiration for MS Dhoni on various occasions. He recently shared a heartwarming video of their memorable moments together to celebrate Dhoni's 42nd birthday. Chahar also revealed a story about Dhoni's mentoring during an episode of "Breakfast with Champions," highlighting how Dhoni's guidance and support have played a crucial role in his growth as a player.
MS Dhoni's leadership qualities and his ability to nurture and inspire his teammates, even in challenging situations, have made him a beloved figure in Indian cricket. His remark about Deepak Chahar reflects the camaraderie and playful bond they share, adding another memorable moment to their friendship.

Deepak Chahar: ‘For me, this IPL auction wasn’t about the money but about joining the right team’
Deepak Chahar is set to don the Mumbai Indians colours in the next Indian Premier League edition, marking the end of his seven-year stint with Chennai Super Kings. Although he will miss the Chepauk dressing room and conversations with Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Chahar is excited to bowl alongside Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult at the Wankhede Stadium. Chahar’s ultimate goal is to return to the Indian…

Will MI win their sixth title in IPL 2025?
Tumblr media
The 18th edition of the IPL is going to start on March 22. The 5-time defending champions Mumbai Indians will be trying to win their sixth title this season. This time Mumbai Indians included some big names in the auction. While they managed to retain their core team. But will this team be able to win the trophy after 5 years? The team will play its first match of season 18 against its arch-rival Chennai Super Kings in Chennai, and with this, the campaign of Mumbai Indians will also start this year. In this blog, we are going to analyze Mumbai Indians, where we will look at their strengths, weaknesses, best playing 11 and expectations.
Strength: MI looks very strong on paper. Management creates a good squad of Mumbai Indians for the upcoming IPL 2025 edition. The team has a good batting lineup which includes aggressive batsmen like Rohit Sharma, Tilak Verma, Surya Kumar Yadav, and Will Jacks. In the bowling department, the team has the best bowler in the world, Jasprit Bumrah. Trent Boult has returned to his previous IPL franchise after 4 years. Apart from them, the team also has Deepak Chahar, Karn Sharma, Reece Topley, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. At the same time, captain Hardik Pandya will be seen showing his skills in the all-round department, where he will be supported by Kiwi team captain Mitchell Santner and South Africa’s Corbin Bosch. This team also has some good young players like Naman Dheer, Bevon Jacobs, Ryan Rickelton, Robin Minj, Arjun Tendulkar, Vignesh Puthur, Satyanarayana Raju, Krishnan Sreejith and Ashwini Kumar.
Weakness: This team has only 1 specialist wicketkeeper, who is SA’s Ryan Rickelton. If he fails, then the MI management uses 2 uncapped WK batsmen. This team looks quite strong every time, but can they perform well together? Last year, this team had to face a lot of controversies due to the change of their captain. MI finished at the bottom of the table. They could only manage 4 wins last season. Their home crowd was badmouthing their captain, but now the time has passed, and Mumbai Indians wants to show again “why they said 5 times champion”
Best Playing XI: Rohit Sharma, Will Jacks (✈), Tilak Verma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Ryan Rickelton (wicket-keeper) (✈), Mitchell Santner (✈), Deepak Chahar, Karn Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult (✈),
Impact Player: Naman Dhir
Expectations: If this team’s players work together, MI can win their 6th IPL title this season. MI is very strong compared to other teams. It would be a big surprise if this team doesn’t win the title.

[ad_1] Mumbai Indians will have 23-player squad for the next season. (PC: X.com) The Mumbai Indians (MI) had done most of their heavy lifting before the auction, using up Rs 75 crore of their total purse on retaining five players. Rohit Sharma, former captain, Hardik Pandya, the current leader, Suryakumar Yadav – India’s T20 captain – Jasprit Bumrah and Tilak Varma all stayed, meaning that the auction focus was very much on the foreign contingent and finding bowlers to supplement Bumrah’s sublime skills. “We had four of our top 7 in place already, just needed to fill a couple of slots with the right complimentary players,” said Akash Ambani, the team owner, after the two days in Jeddah. “We focused a lot in this auction on getting our bowling combination right and I think we have achieved that at the end of two days of auction.” HITS  Though he’s 35, bringing back Trent Boult could be an inspired move. Back in 2020, he enjoyed his best IPL season in MI colours, taking 25 wickets from 15 games at an economy rate under 8. With Deepak Chahar, once MS Dhoni’s go-to new-ball bowler, also drafted in, MI potentially have a new-ball attack that could hoop it around corners in most conditions, leaving Bumrah to do his damage in the second half of the innings. Chahar has played just 18 games in the last three years though, and keeping him fit will be of paramount importance. MI have also taken a punt on Afghanistan’s Allah Ghazanfar, who could be the next mystery spinner to keep an eye on. MISSES  There was a time when Lasith Malinga and Kieron Pollard were cornerstones of MI’s title-winning sides. The present overseas contingent lacks that quality. Ghazanfar, South Africa’s Ryan Rickelton and New Zealand’s Bevan-John Jacobs have not played in the IPL before, while Will Jacks, Reece Topley and Lizaad Williams have barely made a dent in the competition. Boult has vast experience, and so does Mitchell Santner, but the rest have plenty to prove. They may not need to go spin-heavy at the Wankhede, but at other venues, the slow-bowling back-up for Santner and Ghazanfar doesn’t inspire much confidence either.   Overall Rating: 7/10 Mumbai were always going to be hamstrung at the auction on account of having spent nearly two-thirds of their budget to retain their stars. But they’ve still managed to bring in a new-ball pairing who could be lethal on their home turf, and a young spinner who could potentially make the sort of impact that Rashid Khan did nearly a decade ago. Jacobs is only 22, but his big-hitting prowess has already caught the eye in New Zealand, while Jacks struck at over 175 in the eight games he played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.  Pandya will surely have a more impactful season this time, with the captaincy furore having died down, and Bumrah appears to be better than ever. If Rohit can play as freely as he did in the two white-ball World Cups, MI certainly have the weapons to make a play-off push. To go further and claim that elusive sixth title, however, will need some serious contributions from that untested foreign pack.  Squad Batters: Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Bevan-John Jacobs. All-rounders: Hardik Pandya, Naman Dhir, Will Jacks, Raj Angad Bawa, Karn Sharma, Mitchell Santner, Vignesh Puthur. Pace bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, Lizaad Williams, Reece Topley, Ashwani Kumar, Satyanarayana Raju, Arjun Tendulkar. Wicketkeepers: Robin Minz, Ryan Rickelton, Shrijith Krishnan. Spinners: Allah Ghazanfar. IPL 2024 TEAM STRATEGIES: HOW EACH TEAM PLANS TO WIN
1. Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
The Chennai Super Kings, led by the legendary MS Dhoni, are known for their consistency and calm approach under pressure. In 2024, CSK will likely continue to rely on their tried-and-tested formula of experienced players combined with youthful exuberance. The core strategy revolves around a strong batting lineup, with seasoned campaigners like Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali, supported by the finishing prowess of Dhoni. In the bowling department, Deepak Chahar’s ability to swing the ball and the spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Mitchell Santner will be crucial. CSK's strategy will focus on building partnerships and using their spinners to control the middle overs.
2. Mumbai Indians (MI)
Mumbai Indians, the most successful franchise in IPL history, will once again bank on their star-studded lineup and depth in both batting and bowling. Captain Rohit Sharma will aim to lead from the front, while Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan will look to provide quick runs. The inclusion of overseas stars like Kieron Pollard and Tim David will add firepower to their middle order. MI’s pace attack, spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult, will be a key component of their strategy, focusing on early breakthroughs and effective death bowling. Their all-rounders, particularly Hardik Pandya, will play a significant role in balancing the team.
3. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
With Virat Kohli stepping down as captain, RCB's strategy will undergo a subtle shift under the new leadership of Faf du Plessis. The batting order, featuring Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and AB de Villiers, will aim to score aggressively, especially in the powerplay and death overs. RCB’s strategy will also involve utilizing their fast bowlers like Mohammed Siraj and Harshal Patel to exploit early breakthroughs and maintain pressure throughout the innings. Spin will be vital, with Wanindu Hasaranga expected to be a game-changer in the middle overs.
4. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
KKR, under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, will focus on a balanced approach with a mix of youth and experience. The batting lineup will revolve around the aggressive starts by Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana, while the middle order will rely on Iyer’s stability and Andre Russell’s explosive hitting. KKR's strategy will heavily depend on their versatile bowling attack, featuring Pat Cummins' pace and Varun Chakravarthy's mystery spin. Their success will hinge on effective use of these bowlers to control the game's flow and restrict opposition scoring.
5. Delhi Capitals (DC)
The Delhi Capitals, led by Rishabh Pant, will aim to build on their recent successes. Their strategy will focus on a formidable top order featuring Prithvi Shaw, David Warner, and Pant himself. The batting depth, bolstered by all-rounders like Axar Patel, will be crucial. In bowling, the express pace of Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada will be key to their plans, with spinners like Ravichandran Ashwin providing control in the middle overs. DC will likely focus on maintaining a high run rate while deploying their fast bowlers to make early inroads into the opposition's batting lineup.
6. Punjab Kings (PBKS)
Punjab Kings, led by Shikhar Dhawan, will aim for aggressive batting strategies. With the likes of Mayank Agarwal, Jonny Bairstow, and Liam Livingstone, PBKS will look to set or chase high targets. Their bowling strategy will revolve around the pace of Arshdeep Singh and the spin of Rahul Chahar. The focus will be on exploiting powerplay overs with aggressive bowling and ensuring tight overs during the middle phase to build pressure.
7. Rajasthan Royals (RR)
Sanju Samson's Rajasthan Royals will adopt a strategy of leveraging their top-heavy batting lineup, featuring Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Samson himself. Their approach will focus on quick starts and maintaining a high scoring rate. In the bowling department, RR will rely on the experience of Trent Boult and the spin wizardry of Yuzvendra Chahal to take wickets at crucial junctures. Their all-rounders will provide the necessary balance to both innings.
8. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)
SRH, under the leadership of Kane Williamson, will emphasize a strong bowling strategy. Their pace attack, featuring Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umran Malik, will aim to dominate the powerplay and death overs. Spin options like Rashid Khan will be pivotal in controlling the middle overs. SRH’s batting strategy will focus on Williamson’s anchoring role, with power hitters like Nicholas Pooran providing the firepower towards the end.
9. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)
KL Rahul’s Lucknow Super Giants will aim to make a mark with a balanced squad. The strategy will revolve around Rahul and Quinton de Kock providing strong starts, while all-rounders like Marcus Stoinis and Krunal Pandya add depth. Their bowling will focus on pace spearheaded by Mark Wood and spin from Ravi Bishnoi. LSG will aim to be flexible, adapting their plans according to the match situation.
10. Gujarat Titans (GT)
Gujarat Titans, captained by Hardik Pandya, will focus on all-round performance. The strategy will include explosive batting from Shubman Gill and David Miller, while Hardik himself will be crucial in both batting and bowling. The Titans will rely on the pace of Mohammad Shami and the spin of Rashid Khan to control the game’s tempo. Versatility and depth in both departments will be their key to success.
The IPL 2024 season promises to be a showcase of strategic brilliance, with each team bringing its unique approach to the game. Whether it's leveraging star players, focusing on balanced squads, or employing innovative tactics, the franchises are leaving no stone unturned in their quest for the title. As the season unfolds, it will be fascinating to see which strategies pay off and lead their teams to IPL glory.
