Top restaurants to eat the best idli in India
Tumblr media
Do you love Idli? Want to eat the best idli in India? Then read ahead.
Indians consider idli, sambar, and chutney to be the holy trinity. Contrary to popular assumption, India’s preferred breakfast food is not even native to the country. The preparation of the original recipe is akin to what they call kedli in modern-day Indonesia.
Idlis are loved by Indians at all times of the day, including brunch, lunch, and dinner. For all the good reasons – simple to digest, low in fat, and high in carbohydrates – the round, soft, savory cake has been acclaimed as the “king of breakfast.”
Nothing more could have been provided for us. But the significant preparation required can be a bit intimidating. There are many varieties of these delicious idlis.
The best places to have the best idli in India have been hand-picked by us. Grab one while it is still hot off the dish.
Top restaurants to eat the best idli in India
1.   Naadbramha Idli, Maharashtra
Naadbramha idli from Maharashtra is considered the best idli in India. They have been winning their customers’ hearts for two years now. They offer authentic South Indian flavor in the form of regular idli, thatte idli, and button idli with fresh coconut chutney and hot sambar.
They have outlets in the Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Satara,  and Ahmednagar regions of Maharashtra. They have more than 78 franchises in Maharashtra.
1.   Murugan Idli Shop, Chennai
Aside from Bessie and Marina, the Murugan Idli Shop is something that is amazing in Chennai. Their aromatic idlis, covered in generous amounts of podi (gunpowder) and available at 17 locations throughout Chennai, will excite your palate like never before.
Murugan Idli Shop has endured the test of time, from its first location in Madurai in 1991 to the numerous locations in Chennai today, despite the city has undergone a major transformation. The restaurant offers flavorful paniyarams, a variety of chutneys, and the show-stopping Jigarthanda, a mixture of sweetened milk, ice cream, and sabudana, in addition to the delightful idlis.
2.   Chennai Square, Kolkata
Chennai Square, a vegetarian South Indian restaurant in Kolkata, is said to serve one of the best idlis in India. Along with idli, customers also love the pancakes, dosa, and vada offered at this restaurant.
The friendly staff here displays how much they value their customers. Pleasant service is important to these restaurateurs. The price for dinner here is very affordable. Visitors can savor the welcoming atmosphere and exquisite decor at this location.
3.   MTR, Bengaluru
Bangalore’s geography has been established by Mavalli Tiffin Room for many years. At any hour of the day, throngs of people will gather here to enjoy the iconic MTR Rava idli with alugadde.
MTR, which has a pre-Independence history, depends on its devoted customer base to succeed. The kitchen starts to bustle at three in the morning thanks to a dedicated workforce that includes head cooks and dozens of assistants.
4.   Veena stores, Bengaluru
Veena Stores is the only place you need to go if you are purely an idli store. Veena Stores, which opened as a small spice store in 1977, is now a familiar destination for Bengaluru locals.
Their huge idlis are fluffy and tender, and oddly, sambar is not served with them. Instead, you can anticipate a hot and flavorful pudina (mint) chutney prepared with a pestle and mortar. The Kesari bath, savige bath, and upma are three other dishes on the menu that must be tried.
These are the places to get the best idli in India. For people in Maharashtra, Naadbramha Idli is the perfect destination where they can get the taste of authentic South Indian flavors in Maharashtra. Thus, it is said to be Maharashtra’s No. 1 Idli.
So, don’t make your taste buds wait too long; get the best idli at Naadbramha Idli Restaurant.

The History of Paithani
Tumblr media
The Queen of Silks, an epitome of Royal, a symbol of Beauty and a weave of Elegance- The Paithani! The Paithani is no less than a treasure for a woman. The motifs, intricate designs, meticulous craftsmanship, and the process takes Paithani to the most loved list of traditional wear. Paithani is a must-have for every lady out there, but where did this royal affair start?
When we flip the pages of history, we understand that the origin of this piece of art can be traced back to Satavahana Dynasty, in the 2nd century B.C. Satavahana Empire nestled a small town on the banks of River Godavari, named ‘Pratishthana’. Pratishthana was the capital of the Satavahana Empire under the rule of Shalivahana. Pratishthana hosted a trade centre and was renowned for being an international hub for the sale of Silk and Zari.
Fact- The old city of Pratishthana was named Paithan later. Yes, Paithan’s Paithani. That solves the puzzle of the origination of Paithani. Is that it? When Paithani comes with such complex weaves, how can its story be so basic? It’s not! Let’s take a deeper look into the journey of Paithani through the years!
Four communities mastered the art of weaving Paithani sarees- Shali, Nagpuri, Koshti and Kshatriya. The Peshwas and the Mughals played key roles in making Paithani popular. Aurangzeb even punished some Jamdani weavers to publicize Paithani. He even introduced a unique style- Aurangzebi Paithani. The Peshwas were very fond of Paithanis as well. The Peshwas selected fine weavers and housed them at Yeola, Nashik. Forwarding to today, Yeola is known by the world for treasuring this age-old form of cloth and weaves, and is a hub for all things Paithani!
That was a bit of backstory of our beloved Paithani. Paithani is woven with immense care and love, and it takes anywhere from 2 days to 24 months to weave a Paithani. There is a meaning to every motif, every design that’s adorned by majestic silk. The oldest known Paithani design is of ‘Asavali’. The Asavali motif incorporated vines and flowers. Following that, ‘Akruti’ made its Paithani Fridge Magnets are the newest addition to the Swapnagandha family and undoubtedly, they’ll steal all the limelight when they’re hooked on in your living room and kitchen! These beautiful pieces of house decor don’t only add peppiness to the place but also are incredibly useful! Pack these little members in any gift you are planning to send out, and it’ll make a great New Year gift for your loved ones. They are available in vivid colour options- Silver Paithani Zari, Golden Paithani Zari with contrasting colours, and all this with classy designs all over it. These magnets are the perfect blend of innovation and tradition!
Find this and many such unique gifting items at Swapnagandha Collections. We are located at Nagnath Par, Pune and you can step in to find a wide variety of Paithani products like Paithani Diaries, Paithani Rangolis, Paithani Keychains, Paithani Purses, and a lot more. Look out for our online shop at www.swapnagandhacollection.com and grab the exciting offers you see there! Visit Swapnagandha Collections, visit the world of traditional innovations!
Way to the Paithanis, showing off squarish flowers. Other styles and patterns like Narli (Coconut), Rui Phool (Flower), Kalas Pakli (Petals), Anaar Vel (Grapevine), Kuyri Vel (Mango), Gokarna Vel (Gokarna flower), Tota-Maina or Muniya (Parrot) and swans are widely loved too! As the initial stages of making Paithanis were set near the Ajanta Caves of Aurangabad, the influence of the same is seen in patterns like lotus, seated Budhha and more. The Bangadi-Mor motif that spreads and shines brightly on many Paithanis is a well-thought design that has some significance to it. It represents the ‘Saubhagya’ and completeness of a woman.
A gold and silk saree, or what was called ‘Pattan’ was a saree only produced for the cream layer of the society. It was more like a pride statement than just a piece of cloth. Paithanis seem to have evolved from a cotton base to a silk base, where silk was used in borders and a few other parts of the saree while cotton was utilized in making the body of the fabric.
The evolution of Paithani and its adoption of various styles and trends have indicated a significant change. This age-old style of clothing continues to be a grand fashion statement today as well. Undoubtedly, the tag of being the Queen of Sarees is well suited to this one!

22nd March, 2019
"The Trip"
The day has come. I was finally ready for Nashik. With Chirag volunteering to go with me, I was really pumped up for it.
I woke up at 4:45 am. Brushed my teeth and got ready. Double checked all the documents and woke Chirag up. After registering our biometric we booked a cab to the bus terminal. Took the earliest bus and our journey started.
Up till 8:00 am, I was asleep in the bus. The bus then stopped at a restaurant for breakfast. Being broke, we both decided to avoid it. The rest of the journey was spent listening to songs and talking with my girlfriend while enjoying the scenic beauty.
We reached Nashik by 10:30 am. Booked another can till MUHS and reached there by 11:00 am. After lot of entries and checking, I was finally able to submit my form which was quick to my surprise. Then I had few lateral works which took a little more time because of afternoon sluggishness of people.
By 12:45 pm, our work was done. We clicked a photo for a memory and then took an auto to Nashik. Now the difficult part began, searching for a place to eat. It was lunch time already and we had no breakfast. After a lot of searching and taking help of Google maps we landed up in a place called Jagganath Restaurant. What a lovely place it was! The place was cozy and the food was equally delicious. They served us their special paneer khazaana and butter nun along with chilli mushroom and veg sweet corn soup. We had a great time there. After paying the bill, we went to bus terminal to take our ride back home.
The night traffic was miserable and we had a long 5 hours return journey. During this time, Chirag and I talked a lot with each other. We grew a good bond and the long journey felt little less tiring. As it was already late for Mess, we decided to have our dinner before heading to our hostel. After a lot of debate, it was decided that we would go to KFC. After KFC, we decided to have something sweet and ended up at King of Desserts. One of the best dessert shop I have been to so far. The kiosk was neat and tidy. We had 2 waffles and we got 1 complimentary free as well. The customer service was very satisfying.
Then we explored the Deccan area a bit. The place was very well decorated and acted like a good relief from the fatigue of the journey.
We then took an auto back home and concluded our journey on a happy note and with the arrival of Niranjanan's laptop.
So, this was the story of today.
Time on clock: 2:57 am.
Lesson of the day: This journey could have been very lonely and boring if I didn't have Chirag. You seem to find friends in most adverse of situation. The friend in need is a friend indeed. Chirag proved me this and also one thing I became sure today that someone is going to have my back thorough out my college life and I will have theirs.
Tumblr media
The road taken.
Today's story ends here and untill we meet next time " SAYONARA".
