Last year I started work on a course in reflective practice. As I dug deeper, I realized it had to have a different focus of radically inclusive teaching to get to the critical dimension necessary for any reflective practice to be transformative. So I scrapped that design and started over this January as I decolonized that curriculum to reform it on different ground. It has been hard work, but transformative for me and something I am able to apply to everything I do. If you are a white educator and especially cisgender and male, I implore you to start the journey of becoming an inclusive and anti-racist educator. This applies to the hard sciences as well. No discipline is immune from the harm of dominant and unequal distributions of power that harm students and stymie learning outcomes.
