I read this perfect, angsty (with a happy ending, of course) Zimbits Christmas fic for the Deck the Haus fest. I love it so much, I'd been thinking about recording it for at least six months, so I'm thrilled I had a good excuse.
[Podfic] Merry Christmas, I'm Yours
written by @doggernaut
It takes Jack only a couple months after graduation to realize he's in love with Bitty.
It takes him almost 20 years to actually do something about it.
(Or, five Christmases Jack and Bitty spend together.)
Listen! T, 2 hours, 16 minutes Read! 27k words

Fic Author Self-Rec Meme!
Thanks @sweatersinthesummer for tagging me! Choosing my 5 favorite fics is so difficult because I am simultaneously very hard on myself and very fond of all of them 😂
suddenly this summer it's clear || Check, Please! || Nursey/Dex
I’ve been overwhelmed (in a good way!) by the response to this fic. It was a labor of love and Im very happy with how it ultimately turned out! It’s probably the funniest thing I’ve posted? At least I was giggling to myself the whole time I was writing it 😆
maybe tonight (the stars align) || Check, Please! || Nursey/Dex
I wrote this for Deck the Haus 2022 and I’m proud of how it came out. It’s not as silly as what I usually write (although it has its moments!) but I really wanted to explore feeling a bit lost after college now that the thing that defined you (hockey in this case) is no longer in your life.
compilation error || Check, Please! || Nursey/Dex
My first NurseyDex fic after obsessing over them for months! It’s loosely based on something that happened to me in college, plus, as a software engineer in real life, it was very fun to project my coding woes onto Dex 😂
on a night like this || Schitt's Creek || David/Patrick
There's only one bed but make it ✨magical✨ - I had so much fun with this one! I'd been wanting to write a magical spin on an "only one bed" fic for a year before I ended up writing this, and it turned out even sillier than I imagined!
we've got these days of summer || Schitt's Creek || David/Patrick
This was the first fic I wrote after an unintentional 8+ year writing hiatus, so it has a very special place in my heart. It also led to so many friendships and an incredible, supportive community that I will forever be grateful for ♥
Not sure who has already done this, but I will tag @swiftlythebest, @thesleepyskipper, @hullomoon, and @dinnfameron!!

AO3 Wrapped
Tagged by @the-lincyclopedia
(I’m assuming this is meant to be for this year—2022.)
Works published: 9 (one fic—written for Deck the Haus—technically isn’t public yet, but it’s included in my current stats)
Word count: 99,978 (technically, Pucks and Recreation—which is by far the longest fic I posted this year—was written last year but I didn’t post it until January)
Hits: 13,336
Bookmarks: 258
Most popular by kudos: Pucks and Recreation
Most hits: Pucks and Recreation
Longest: Pucks and Recreation
Shortest: This Woman’s Work
Most comments: Pucks and Recreation
Fic that made you cry: Hmm … I’m not sure if any of my fics made me cry.
Fic that made you smile: All of them. Every fic I wrote was something I wanted to read, so every single one of them has something that makes me happy.
Gifts: Received: 3 / Given: 0 (I feel like that can’t be right … but I do have three WIPs that are gifts.)
Collaborations: If you count Pucks and Recreation, which was my Check, Please! Big Bang fic for last year that didn’t post until this year, then that’s my only official collab. It featured art by @the-lincyclopedia, @fffuckthelaxbros, and @novva. But a few people made podfics of some of my already-existing works, which was very cool!
Events: Fandom Trumps Hate (that fic should be posting very soon) and @deckthehaus (also still to be posted)
Coming in 2023: Beyond my Fandom Trumps Hate fic, which I’ll begin posting at the end of this month of beginning of January, I’m not really sure. I have several WIPs, but grad school and other responsibilities have cut into my writing time.
Tagging: @wrathofthestag, @weneedtotalkaboutfic, @sweatersinthesummer, and anybody else who wants to play!
#ao3 wrapped#my fic#fic of 2022#really if you don’t count my big fic—and I’m not sure I should since it was written last year—it was a really low output year.

Tagged by @cricketnationrise. Thanks, babe!
(I’m taking all these questions to refer to what’s happened just in 2022, not in my time on AO3 overall.)
Works published: 34

Hits: 8,833
Bookmarks: 94
Most popular by kudos: cut me some slack if i crawl back into my shell
Most hits: The Difference an Evening Can Make
Longest: The Difference an Evening Can Make
Shortest: Come On, Irene (technically Shadow Princess Era is shorter, but it won’t be in a few days)
Most comments: The Difference an Evening Can Make
Fic that made you cry: [Podfic] To Every Single Kid I Used To Be
Fic that made you smile: Lay All Your Love on Me
Gifts: Received: 3 / Given: 3
Collaborations: none officially, but thanks to @cricketnationrise, @jonsaremembers, and @eddisfargo for some helpful beta work/brainstorming help
Events: 2022 Murderbot Diaries New Year Gift Exchange, Podfic Please!, Deck the Haus, and (as a beta) Fandom Trumps Hate 2022
Coming in 2023: hopefully the Gen & Costis fake-journalism piece I keep mentioning. Other than that, who fucking knows? I keep trying to write less fic so I can focus more on original stuff, but that’s hard to stick to because the fic keeps calling to me.
Tagging: @doggernaut, @khashanakalashtar, @hoeratius, and anyone else who wants to play!

Thank you for the tag, @daysarestranger! And thanks for editing this for podfics. 😁
Works Published: 21 (14 solo podfics and 7 multivoices, plus 1 WIP)
Word Count Run-Time: 23 hours 57 minutes (so you could listen to *me* for nearly a full day! 😝)
Hits: 7,991 (but some podfics are attached to fics)
Bookmarks: 97
Most popular by kudos: Peaceful Bliss
(*ignoring those that are also fic: STILL PEACEFUL BLISS, which is wild. Hi, Stranger Things. You are my first big fandom and I'm still in awe of/intimidated by you.)
Most hits: Peaceful Bliss again!
(*ignoring those that are also fic in second place: Shall I Stay?)
Longest: also Shall I Stay? at 12 hours 13 minutes
Shortest: i will share this room with you at 6 minutes 20 seconds
Most comments: The Mechanics of Poetry again! It has a lot of chapters, and there were also a few lovely listeners who commented many times. It always made me smile!! ❤️
Podfic that made me cry: I don't have anything tearjerking for this year, but if you're looking for something truly devastating, there's always last year's To Come Out the Other Side (aka Schitt's Creek MCD)...
Podfic that made me smile: Wellies Always Kiss and Tell ! @thirdeye1234 wrote this fantastic fic, and some friends and I got together to surprise her with a podfic. It was so much fun to collaborate on, and it's the first multi-voice I edited.
Gifts: Wisdom Teeth for Amanita_Fierce, as a just-because gift. Reading Nursey high from the dentist and Dex as his suffering caretaker was very fun.
Events: Please (Don't) Have Snow, a cute little PB&J fic, for Deck the Haus.
Here's to even more podfics in 2023! First on the agenda is finishing my WIP, and then I have an idea for a series... 👀
No-pressure tags: @sunlightsymphony, @thirdeye1234, @n0connections, @b13-maybethistime, @hullomoon, and anyone reading this who wants to participate! Consider yourself tagged!

Secret Santa
@mateoxrafael
At first glance, it was perhaps underwhelming, even for this excessively popular event that is Secret Santa.
There was no wrapping. No box. Not even a proper card. It was an envelope; with nothing else but a single note inside of it.
23/12/2022 - 15:45 - Flight Deck
Instruction. Simple with little explanation. It could be anything. A surprise party with balloons, a getaway trip, a car ride to a spa retreat...Or it could be a prank.
Shall the man decides to follow the instruction, he will find a group waiting for him by the entrance of the flight deck.
"Please come this way," A man with glasses would greet and guide him to a rack filled with clothes. "You must dress into something more appropriate. You will not need to wear your Haus attire." It was nothing exaggerating. In fact, the selections of clothing are simple and comfortable, mostly jumpers, long sleeves, hoodies and tracksuit bottoms. While these items might not be eye-catching, the quality was undoubtedly good, all sourced from high-end designer brands.
A woman came up to him with a trap lines with bottles, offered him to try out a selection of cologne. She explained every each of them and offered suggestion, clearly an expert.
"It's almost time. Please, head outside and enjoy your time, sir."
At 16:00 in exact, a private jet majestically landed on the flight deck. The entire crew lined up in front of the aircraft to greet the man, introduce themselves and welcome the man onboard with a glass of champagne.
"You have six hours." The captain informed him, "Until then, this jet will circle around this area."
The interior design of the jet was modern, split into several sections, including a lounge, a dining area and rooms. The entire space was filled with festivities. Garlands, wreaths and swags. There was even a Christmas tree at the corner, decorated with ornaments that were perhaps...familiar to the man.
Standing next to the Christmas tree, a woman who shared similar features to the man smiled warmly at him. Her eyes shimmered, filled with joy and pride for the man before her.
"Feliz navidad...Mateo."

MLK Weekend 2022 at Bristol Mountain!
Sunday was a Bluebird Day early with the sun hiding how cold it was, then the storm clouds began to roll in.
Monday greeted us with 10-12" in the morning and another 4 to 6" throughout the day!
Liftline Powder and constant Snow (top video) made it one of the best ski days I have had in the Region on Monday!
My son and girlfriend's daughter soaked up the sun on Sunday Before the Storm.
We stayed in Canandaigua, which is truly becoming an exciting place in the winter, not just the summer. We had great food, visited The Lake House and Young Lion Brewery to watch the Bills game.
The mountain had holiday crowds but with all the lifts open and two high-speed quads, there was only 1 lift with a 5-minute wait. We discovered the mid-mountain restaurant at the Morning Star Cafe area, and Wow! it was like a small Austrian or Swiss Waffle Haus halfway up the mountain tucked in the woods. It is ski-in/ski-out and had a great sun deck ( but it wasn't used, too cold Sunday/Monday too snowy) and it must be the place to be in the spring. We had Waffles, sausages, bacon, and hot chocolates and it was the perfect hearty lunch on a cold snowy winter day!
Overall great experience, it felt much closer to Vermont and the Adirondacks than anything in Western NY or in the mountains around Syracuse.
See you on the Slopes sometime soon!

#WMDEDGT am 5. September 2022
[22:00] Heia-popeia.

Welcome to Day 2 of Deck the Haus! We have 5 fics and 1 podfic for you today. Don't forget to leave the creators some love in the form of kudos and comments! Creators, if your work was revealed today, please change your posting date to today so that your work will show up in the most recent Check Please works on AO3. AO3 explains how to change your publication date here.
Without further ado, here are today's revealed works:
*
DAY 2 REVEALS
*
to dance under sparkling lights
[Nursey/Dex - T - 4,293]
“You’re moving to Maine?” asks Chowder.
“Correction, I already moved to Maine,” Nursey admits.
----
The bell over the door jingles and Will almost drops the plate he’s clearing when he glances up to see who’s just arrived.
He quickly forces himself to look away again and finish clearing the counter. He has a job to do, after all; he can’t just stare at pretty customers all night.
*
A Whole Latke Love
[Alicia/Bob, Shitty & Jack, Jack/Bitty - NR - 5,713]
Five Chanukkah mornings of Jack and his parents making latkes over the years, plus the first time Bitty joined them.
*
Keep warm in winter
[Chowder/Nursey/Dex - T - 2091]
It's the Winter Solstice, and Chris is having a very good day. He's got two good boyfriends to help keep him warm from the cold, and a family who loves and supports him. He's got a game and then it's time to celebrate the unity of family and call for prosperity as the days lengthen.
*
Red Robe, Red Ribbon, Red Boxers
[Jack/Bitty - M - 955]
Jack and Bitty get busy on Christmas Eve.
*
Northern Attitude
[Nursey/Dex - G - 5,898]
Dex knew very little about his new next door neighbor. It had been nearly two months since he’d moved in and Dex couldn’t be sure he'd even seen him. Dex was around when he moved in, had even gone over to introduce himself but ended up being introduced to some guy who called himself “Shitty” and offered Dex a beer and a convoluted explanation as to why the new homeowner wasn't actually around on move-in day. From what Dex could gather he had some kind of artsy job that he had to travel a lot for.
But for as forthcoming as his neighbor’s friend had been, Dex had learned almost nothing else about his mysterious neighbor in the months since.
It annoyed him.
*
[Podfic] Merry Christmas, I'm Yours
[Jack/Bitty - T - 2 hours, 16 minutes]
It takes Jack only a couple months after graduation to realize he's in love with Bitty.
It takes him almost 20 years to actually do something about it.
(Or, five Christmases Jack and Bitty spend together.)
A podfic of Merry Christmas, I’m Yours written by RabbitRunnah.

Freitag, 07.
