Lyrics for Decius and his Sweetheart #1

This is a new series where I take lyrics for songs and give (small) explanations for how Decius and/or Trebonius relate to the lyrics. Starting with Francis Forever by Mitski after Trebonius has died. The lyrics will be in Italics and Decius will explain what they mean under them in bold/brackets.

Decius x Trebonius

Now if I have any further updates or ramblings about this ship that are not from the perspective of Decius, they will be put here instead of that other ships post because it was getting too long for my liking.

First of all, I am making a playlist for this couple and so far, I only have six songs, so if anyone has any song recommendations for it please let me know in the comments or my messages. Here are some things to help inspire y'all (and myself).

The vibes: - The six songs I currently have are: I Want You by Mitski, Sailor Song by Gigi Perez, ur so pretty by Wasia Project, Dear Arkansas Daughter by Lady Lamb, I Bet On Losing Dogs by Mitski and Francis Forever by Mitski. - Dynamics I kind of connect to this ship is: bad boy x good girl, the morally grey character who has a soft spot for the innocent character, grumpy/sunshine. - Sad songs are welcome since at the end of the play Julius Caesar Trebonius (and all of the other conspirators) pass away except for Decius Brutus and I imagine he would feel lost without his sweetheart (this is where Francis Forever comes in).

If you have absolutely any recs even if you have no idea what I am talking about, they will be appreciated.

This update is about a complete change in my Decius Brutus shipping. I still like the idea of Casca x Decius; however, I have found a much better companion: Trebonius!

This all started with me and the actor for Trebonius accidentally sharing a chemistry filled glance, that everyone started joking about. Due to this we have expanded a little bit on the characters relationship and pretty much the whole cast has decided that this is the best ship of the play. Now I'll explain how I imagine their dynamic.

As I've said, Decius is a bit of an evil/insane kind of guy and has a lot of experience with violence and manipulation unlike Trebonius who is a sweetheart that only wants the best for everyone and for Rome. They are pretty opposite in their personalities. Trebonius doesn't want to hurt anyone unless it is needed for the better of all while Decius is into violence and believes that it is warranted as long as it benefits him. Decius doesn't hate any of the other conspirators, in fact they are the closest thing he has to friends, but he doesn't necessarily like any of them either... except for Trebonius. He has a soft spot for the girl and finds her kindness and optimism compelling and sweet. I'm not entirely certain how Trebonius views Decius, but she definitely likes him back. She would have a crush on the man and keep it secret, thinking that Decius would view themselves as too different to work.

So, in the show there won't actually be many moments where they interact there is going to be a montage where Decius teaches Trebonius how to use a gun properly. (Similar to those scenes in movies where the dude teaches the girl how to shoot a bow and arrow correctly or that one kathony scene.) I have feeling there will also be a few more chemistry filled glances the characters share sprinkled throughout the play. Then there is the moment when Decius finds Trebonius dead body, he will place his gun down, showing weakness and (maybe) brush her hair out of her face. It will be very sad.

Point is a really like this ship and have many ideas for it and the characters dynamics.

I need someone to ship Decius with, or even Artemidorus. Even if they are characters who never canonically interact within the play (for example my Benvolio and Paris ship). I need to find someone to ship them with because shipping Shakespearean characters is part of my obsession with them. If I have no on to ship them with my obsession is lessened. PLEASE!

If anyone can find something please tell me! I am desperate.

I imagine that Decius would call Trebonius "sweetheart" as a nickname. He'd probably use other nicknames but "sweetheart" is his favourite and at first Trebonius would blush every time, but as if became more frequent and they became closer and closer she would grow used to it and just smile whenever she heard Decius call her that.
