jay kuronuma was only twenty-one when he first disappeared. although he was the wagakashira/underboss of the kuronuma clan, he shirked his duties frequently, instead opting to focus on his passion for music.

when minato kuronuma, oyabun of the clan, went to prison, everything went to hell, and nothing was ever the same for jay again. although jay had no love at all for his father, he was still protected under minato's reign of terror and ruthlessness. jay even then turned a blind eye to a clan that, at least for the moment, was solely on his shoulders. he considered to pursue his own dreams. his own interests with the idea that he could one day find a way out of all of this. find happiness.

of course, as most do, that dream died on the same day he was sold by one of his own trusted enforcers, ryan yamamura, to the rival inagawa clan. and so too did jay, and the world as he knew it.
