So hey, hallo, it's me your local ghost!

I'm a hobby writer and artist with lots of silly thoughts and random fixations. This is one of my multiple blogs, but it's kinda the only one I'm really active on.

I mostly use he/him and they/them pronouns.

I will try my best to answer quickly and draw some silly doodles of the characters answering, it's great fun for me :3 (and I just have to talk about them and my thoughts)

I mostly post art and asks, occasionally headcannons and short oneshots. I am not a native english speaker so I will make mistakes, hope you understand! I am also still very much trying out different things for my art style so it will change occasionally.

I'm currently pretty deep in the creepypasta fandom and fixated on the Slender Brothers if ya couldn't tell already haha. I'm also very deep in Marvel and slowly working my was through several movies and series, it's fun honestly. My birthday is on november 12th and I turned 16 last year. ^^

I tend to use tone indicators, usually when I'm unsure if what I mean isn't clear for the one I'm adressing. Anyways, list of some of my tone indicators that I don't often see these used or use them myself wayyy too often.

Anyway whenever depression gets the vest of me I will stop posting art as much, but luckily those periods aren't too long or at least not too bad for long (got that behind me lol). Also might have autism, it runs in my family and my therapist said that it's pretty likely I have it too.

Humor is a great defense mechanism just as over sexualizing yourself, I take no criticism thank youu /j

Also random fun facts about myself because I can't be a normal human being:

I ate a lot of weird things as a kid, like "how tf did I survive??" Kind of weird stuff. Glowstick liquids and buttercups being just 2 examples.

Thought I was trans for a while, dismissed that thought for like 2 years until I realized recently that it was, in fact, true.

I have over 1000 hours on the sims 4, no I don't recommend it. Now I gotta get back to finding a better mod to kill my sims with!

I seem to attract a lot of people with abusive families and/or that are trans. I don't know where y'all getting all of those vibes from, but y'all are welcome here ♡

My personal favorite (I may be biased as it was my first introduction to his music) is The First Step—I love how crazy & desperate the vocals get near the end, feels like I can release some pent up emotional frustration by listening to it vicariously. Although 2econd 2ight 2eer is also high on the enjoyment list alongside Euthanasia (but that one is so sad narratively…tugs at my heartstrings until they collapse out of my chest). Good stuff

EVERYONE LISTEN UP, THIS IS IMPORTANT!

I'm going to talk about the history of Tumblr, the current state of Tumblr, and why you should get out.

And you can call me a hypocrite, sure. But as an artist who depended a lot on commissions and art sales, I only came back to Tumblr because this is where the audience and active fandoms are. If it weren't for that, I wouldn't be here.

So, you've probably heard people calling tumblr "the queerest place on the internet". Probably more ironically that sincerely, lately. But the reason for this is that, at one point, it was true. Tumblr was synonymous with gay shit, all over the internet. That was this site's reputation. To the point that what the right wingers call "woke" these days, used to be called "tumblr shit". Tumblr was the BIGGEST resource for LGBT+ communities, information, advice and connection. That was here, on this site. Ask boxes thrived with friendship and fun games, artists got regular commissions and their work was shared. And, as much of a cliche as it may be to say this, Tumblr was a 'safe space'.

Then everything changed in 2018. I don't know how many of you were here for that, but that's when all this started. That's when we had porn bots. They'd start reblogging random posts, adding pictures of straight up porn. Naked people, straight up fucking. No tags, no warnings. Just uncensored porn and those stupid "click here to fuck me" captions. They were everywhere, constantly. And staff did nothing about it. No moderation, no kind of adding verification or new accounts. They just let the problem fester. Why should they care? Until they were threatened with being kicked off the app store, at least. Then they moved to do something about it.

So, instead of pulling together a human moderation team, or temporarily limiting new accounts, or doing any kind of intuitive policing of these spam bots, they just decided to make a blanket ban of all NSFW content, the enforcing of which would be carried out by AI bots. This, as you can probably guess, was a monumental failure. Anything that remotely looked like naked flesh was tagged as mature (a particularly infamous example features a picture of sand dunes being tagged as mature). And perhaps most tellingly of this failure, it didn't get rid of porn bots.

What it did get rid of though, was artists. Myself included. I was a mature artist. I had a NSFT sideblog. I sold commissions, I made money. It wasn't exactly career level, but I made enough that commissions helped me to eat when all my money went on bills. Then that was gone. Even SFW art wasn't entirely safe, because if the bot decided that your art had too much "skin" in it, you were flagged. (And at the time, I drew a lot of Jojo art, so I was screwed on that front.) So I had to leave. To find a new site where I could post my art, and try to continue selling commissions. The problem with this? Only a handful of people followed me offsite. I had roughly 300 followers on here. About 5 came with me to twitter. And then about 2 came with me to pillowfort. I had lost everything. Artists all over lost their following, lost their support, lost their income. All because people couldn't be bothered to boycott their funny fandom website.

But that wasn't all. Because now staff saw they had an opportunity. This bot they had created, was going around flagging anything mature, sometimes outright deleting posts or banning blogs that were too 'NSFT'. So... What group is often inherently seen as NSFT or sexualised? Yep, you guessed it. The queer community. And so that's what they did. They struck it all down. The biggest LGBT community on the internet, and they used the "porn ban" excuse to start flagging and deleting blogs. Never touched the nazi blogs, or the white supremacists, or that one blog that would doxx gay people in homophobic countries. Nope, they were left alone. But the most prominent, notable and well known queer blogs were gone. And again, the majority of the userbase was ok with this. They stayed.

I left this site for 5 years. And I tried to make it work elsewhere, I really did. I went to twitter. But over there nobody retweets work, nobody comments on your art. I only had like 2 regular supporters. I haven't gained followers in YEARS. Literally the only reason I still post to twitter is because Airdorf retweets FAITH fanarts. I tried going to pillowfort, which is honestly like a BETTER version of Tumblr. But, it was empty. Nobody was there. I even offered to give out free invite links to pillowfort so other people could join up too! Nobody ever responded to me. So I gave up. After 5 years with almost no interaction, almost no commission sales. No friends, nobody to talk to, nothing to do, nowhere to go... I came back here. And interaction is so much better (even though it's still a struggle to get people to actually talk to me). But I hate being here because I know what this site is like.

Also I know how complacent people are. The things they did back then, they're still doing now. Flagging trans women as mature, straight up banning them for no reason, spreading around campaigns of hate. Its STILL happening. And you're all still here sitting "oh this is awful, this website is transphobic" and then go back to reblogging memes. I saw a poll recently that asked what people would do if tumblr closed down or kicked them out, and the majority answer was just "give up social media completely" and it's like, really? There are plenty of alternatives out there. Artists and creators, and LGBT activists and whoever have been BEGGING you to join us, but you just wont. People would rather sit in this sinking ship till it goes down than make the leap and follow us into the lifeboats.

And I'm saying this again now because there have been talks about tumblr making a deal with midjourney. Because they want to feed all our art, our selfies, our hard work into the AI slop machine. So history is repeating itself again, and once more artists will be begging you to please come with us. Please get off this site. Please come to a place that isn't actively trying to get rid of us.

Me... I'll be staying here as long as I'm able because this is the only place I have any kind of audience. But if you can, if you care about friends, if you care about artists, if you care about queer people. PLEASE come with us. If the worst comes to it, then I'll be leaving for pillowfort. Please, PLEASE come with me. I have invitations, I can send you one so you can join. Send me a message and ask me. Just please, don't die with this place.

thinking about how I got into tf2 is so hilarious because it was one big string of events I might’ve talked about it before but I forgot

big post warning- I didn’t mean to write this much

it all started about 2-3 years ago… I was watching Minecraft brainrot when a matpat video about Minecraft(maybe it was another thing idk I assume it’s Minecraft) was in my recommended to me. This, friends, was the turning point in my life that possibly saved my childhood. I watched matpats videos until falling upon one about undertale. It fascinated me, who was this sans the skeleton and his brother papyrus? I slowly became obsessed with undertale… my very first fandom. I watched so many undertale comic dubs that it was probably unhealthy. This eventually led to deltarune. Dear god I was the worst spamton simp. But slowly, ever so slowly, the hyperfixtation started to fade away as I discovered Pinterest. Voila. Scp. I see funny plague doctor man and I think he’s interesting. I watch scp memes but the hyperfixtation fades quickly. One fateful day, chikn nuggit appears on YouTube sharts. I fell in love with it immediately. Truly wonderful. But alas, after watching all the episodes 3 times over, with no new content, it too faded away and became a distant memory… I go back to Pinterest, and rediscover scp. Now instead of being more into the scps themselves, I become a doctor fan… Dr iceberg was my favorite, until I discovered alto clef. I am not kidding when I say I have read almost every single page on the scp wikidot with clef tagged on it. Up until now my hyperfixtations had been lasting for up to 2 months at most(except for undertale I think that one was 6 months) but there was so much content on the wikidot that it fueled my hyperfixtation. That’s when, one fateful day on Pinterest, I discover these wonderful Microsoft paint drawings. I fall in love with them immediately. But I cannot find the original artist because the asshole posting them didn’t link them. But my friend who was also in the scp fandom at the time discovered a silly animation with the same art style, I looked at the channel and discovered their tumblr. I found all their doodles and they were so wonderful and amazing. During this period, I had felt like my hyperfixtation was slowly disappearing, but these doodles saved it. Until… one fateful day… they posted hlvrai au art. At first I paid no mind. “Ah. These are funny.” Is what I thought. Then I ended up really liking how the characters were designed, so I decide to watch hlvrai. At first, I am doodling the funny parts as characters from scp. Then I realize I really like hlvrai. I go to tumblr and I start looking at the tag. Yes. These are wonderful characters. This marks the end of the second scp phase. One fateful day, as I am scrolling the hlvrai tag, I come across a link. To AO3. I have never heard of ao3 before. It is a fanfiction about Benrey and Gordon falling in love. I read it. I love it. I look for more. I discover the fanfiction “human resource violation.” Truly wonderful and completely irrelevant to what im saying. I discovered ao3 from hlvrai. Soon later, I discover what being trans is. I realized that I may be trans. Wonderful. What else will I discover from hlvrai? Valve. Half-life. Portal specifically. I love these games. They are so fun. I play portal, and I go onto Pinterest to find art. And that’s when I see this silly little creature with a gas mask. Its name, Pyro. I immediately fall in love with this little creature. But I still love hlvrai. But the hlvrai hyperfixtation is old, and I am fascinated by this “pyro” and the other 8 “mercenaries” so I draw pyro. I put the drawing in my phone case. Wonderful! I am now in love with tf2. But that isn’t it. At first, I just scrolled Pinterest, but I didn’t really like it that much. So I decide to go back to tumblr.

That’s when I discover from a post that there are videos made by valve about the mercenaries. I watch all of them and expiration date and end of the line. I fall in love with these sfms. And also scout. I love scout a lot. I kin him, and start drawing him. That’s when I discover speeding bullet. Amazing name, and I love them. I read a few fics about them on ao3 and this is also when I discover that ao3 tf2 was not the same as ao3 hlvrai. When I’m scrolling on tumblr, I see a post about a series called team neighborhood. Still one of my favorite series. I watch it. And now there’s more tf2 related videos on my yt fyp. Amazing! I watch all of them. One day, im on tumblr again when I discover something interesting. Painis cupcake and freak fortress. I think this is fucking hilarious and I find out there’s a whole page of all the freaks on fandom. I have watched nearly all the videos. This is when I start noticing soldier more and how awesome he is. I have literally never been hyperfixtated on a character like soldier before. The earlier ones were all twinks. I think soldiers really funny, so I look for more content.

I get interested in boots n bombs. I love boots n bombs. I don’t want to ship red soldier with anyone because I still really like red solly and Zhanna, so I decide to make ocs for helmet party since at the time I wasn’t sure about multi shipping, and helmet party seemed interesting. Now, the birth of my literally favorite ocs ever, honeysuckler and honeysuckle. I get hyperfixtated on them and now they have a whole plot line made up in my head and I decide to make more OCs. There is an entire au now. Then, as I would like to call it, the dark ages. I still liked tf2, but I just didn’t really feel hyperfixtated on anything. That’s when I rediscover freak fortress. Yippie! All is well and a few months go by. I realize this is my longest hyperfixtation yet (7-8 months now) and now I’ve kind of settled down with tf2. I think one of the main reasons I’ve been hyperfixtated on tf2 for so long is because of all the content. Freak fortress is a whole other thing with a shit ton of series, and then there’s sfms and series like team neighborhood. But this literally could have taken a completely different turn if I didn’t watch that one matpat video. Also the person with the silly mspaint doodles liked overwatch, so I could’ve become hyperfixtated on overwatch instead and could’ve despised tf2.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I don't always respond to comments, since I usually leave that task to my co-writer (and partner in crime) Tibby. It's the most convenient way to do it because we both collaborate on most of the fics I post and they're much more comfortable with responding to comments.

But if it's a solo fic, then I can usually manage to work through my anxiety and respond to anyone who's kind enough to leave a comment because I genuinely love getting feedback, and seeing people enjoy my work really inspires me to keep writing!

Uhhh... That's gotta be my newer oneshot, Free Fall. It's a SoapGhost fic and a rewrite of the ending of MW3 (Yeah, you know the scene).

7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I've got a few (cause I'm a sucker for a happy ending) but the one I'm gonna go with has to be The Goal Isn't To Live Forever (It's To Create Something That Will). It's a part of the list above and it's currently one of my only completed, multi-chaptered fics.

8. Do you get hate on any fics (Art)?

Unfortunately, yeah. I recently got a particularly rude comment accusing me of using chat ai to write my Geraskier fic, even though it was first published way back in 2020, before chat ai was even a thing that people used regularly.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yup. I usually stick to my comfort zone and write M/M stuff.

Though, in my longer fics, the smut isn't really the main focal point so I tend to keep it pretty tame.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Oh boy. My co-author has actually got me hooked on a crazy rare pair to the point where we wrote a whole fic for it (and are working on the second in the series). It's a Daryl Dixon/Dean Winchester pairing set in the TWD universe.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yup! Someone reached out to me and asked to translate my FNaF: SB fic into Russian.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Sure have, but only with one other person.

14. What's your all-time favorite ship?

Omg, no! I have to pick!?

Well, if forced with a gun to my head, I supposed I'd have to say Rinch (John Reese x Harold Finch from the TV series Person of Interest). I love the show and the characters and the story and the world building. It's just a pairing that I will always keep coming back to no matter how many other ships/fandoms I fall into.

15. What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

My KiriBaku x Among Us crossover fic. The main page, where I had planned out the entire fic, was accidentally deleted and I don't know if I'll ever recover from that since I'd have to rehash the entire rest of the story from scratch if I decided to one day come back to it.

However, that being said, I'm still holding out hope that I'll randomly get a burst of motivation for the story. Who knows.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I'd say my strengths are writing angst, witty banter, and transition paragraphs (since my co-author often gets stuck going on tangents and writing really detailed scenes so they often ask for me to make a segue in order to get us to the next plot point, which works out for everyone).

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

My weakness is definitely in-depth, detailed scenes, hands down. It's kinda embarrassing, but my writing can sometimes lack the descriptive, engaging language necessary to make the story/situation/characters interesting (especially when it's decidedly not a writing day) and it often reads like boring exposition.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I am not fluent in anything other than English, but that doesn't exactly stop me from relying heavily on google translate in order to use other languages in my fics, especially if the character that I'm writing for prefers another language. Take Miguel O'Hara for example, who is canonically bilingual.

The same kind of goes for accents too. I try my best to emulate how the words would sound if the character was actually speaking while writing dialogue. Take for example my SoapGhost fics, where both characters have a thick, distinct accent.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Unofficially (as in never posted): Vampire Diaries.

20. Favorite fic you've written?

Jeez, another difficult question. Um... I'm gonna go with What Is Meant To Be (Always Finds A Way), for several reasons.

It was the very first fic that I posted to my ao3 account.

It was the first multi-chaptered fic that I'd ever completed.

I managed to finish and post the final chapter on my birthday (which was a pleasant surprise).

I love it so much that my co-writer and I are actually currently in the midst of lovingly revisiting/revising the entire fic to make it even better!

Life Update

First I wanna say, that seeing a bunch of artists posting new art (I presume you guys are "refugees" from the great unknown) is a fantastic jolt of happiness in my soul and it's really making me feel inspired in a way that I haven't for... quite some time.

And that bit is more what this post is about. The lack of inspiration and such is not due to the fandom or tumblr or My Boys Whom I Love Equally and I Can Prove It.

In May 2022 I got laid off from the job I had for 4 years. After several months on unemployment and fruitless job searching, I decided to give it a rest and just take as much time off as I could. I did some contract work during the winter, but this past May, I went back to work full time.

Fellas. It's rough. However, this whole experience did really throw into sharp relief what I actually want out of life: autonomy. And time to do whatever the hell I want. To not have to show up and be anywhere on someone else's behest for any length of time, much less 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.

This particular job is very meh, but I'm not too fussed about it (other than the people kinda suck to spend 40 goddamn hours a week with) BECAUSE

the lease on my apartment is up at the end of this month, I gave my notice and I will be moving. No I'm not telling you where, if you can guess that's fine and if you know you know. I'm doing this to further my education in my field.

It's scary af. I do not have really enough money to move, I currently have no housing or job set up in the new city. I have Manda. I have to pack. I have to clean this place, I have to work 40 goddamn hours a week, and everything is just stress. Stress all over the place.

The point of this is not to get sympathy from anyone or words of encouragement. The point of this really is to just say thank you to everyone who follows me, especially to my mutuals. You guys mean so much to me. This blog and this little corner of the internet I've hollowed out for myself from which I can watch all of you do really cool things, say funny shit, and reblog memes that I just.... do not understand (LOL) is so important and special to me.

I'll never regret coming back to Hetalia, I'll never regret making this blog, and I'll sure as shit never regret spending an indefensible amount of time on My Boys Whom I Love Equally. They bring me joy. This blog ultimately brings me joy... and so do all of you.

LEGENDS CON RETROSPECTIVE

COSPLAY THOUGHTS

I suffer from specialist little boy syndrome. every local con i've gone to, i've been the only mara jade. HOWEVER. i knew that there would be multiple maras at legends con. and i was right

when i saw barbara hambly was going to speak at legends con, i knew i was going to have to cosplay callista. because i suffer from specialist little boy syndrome.

this is my own interpretation of callista, based on a combination of several official art pieces that i just didn't vibe with tbh. i do what i want

BUT in retrospect. if i ever decide to work with this type of vinyl again. please shoot me

anyway. a few people recognized me. i probably shouldve asked for a photo with barbara hambly but i chickened out.

i'm glad fandom is starting to reevaluate callista. because the misogyny present in some of those older fics? woof

also: new definition of hell unlocked: sitting trapped in a lightsaber sales pitch while your wig cap crawls up your head underneath your wig and you have to sit there nodding politely while trapped in a sensory nightmare

CONVENTION THOUGHTS

pretty tight. lotta good panels

got the unofficial guide book for dark horse star wars writers. some stuff thats applicable to fic some stuff not. vv funny to see how many of its rules the new canon violates tho

also some panels that were actually sales pitches

also some panels that couldve used some audience q&a rather than just prepared questions, but who knows what guests stipulate

i recognize that with every con there will always be some panel overlap, but the 15 minute overlap specifically felt a little harsh. day-of it wasn't as much of an issue bc of last-minute reschedulings

artist alley was a little bare, but it was a first con, things can only go up from here. shocking the places that supernatural merch can creep into tho

SOCIALIZATION THOUGHTS

i shouldve come out of my shell more. or cajoled a friend into making the thousand-mile drive with me.

i might have made more friends if i had gone to cantina night but i don't drink so idk what the vibe wouldve been

i did end up meeting a tumblr mutual for breakfast in burbank proper and that was fun

to make up for not making friends day of i have been following everyone whos posted in the legends con tag. from my main which has a cring url so who knows if they know i was there

HOTEL THOUGHTS

i wish i had checked out the hot tub but i didnt see the sign for where it was until i was checking out. i thought the only pool was outdoors and (see photos above) me and outdoor pools don't mix well

this is a very white trash and/or dean-coded thing to say but every hotel room should come with both continental breakfast AND a microwave

staff were vv nice but also i did feel silly walking around in my costume in the fancy lobby during an actual like. work convention

CONCLUSION

one of the organizers informally speculated that the next legends con might not be until spring/summer 2025. if thats the case, good, bc it means my body will have forgotten what it was like driving from green river utah to burbank in one day (do not recommend)

Hi, reddit people. I hope you're encountering more friendly people than douchey people.

There's a shit ton of useful and thorough guides that provide instructions on how to use the site. This is more of a "shit that's good to know, in no particular order" type of guide

Random thoughts:

💠 Profile: put whatever you want, as long as you put something. It's up to you what you want to share. Just practice common sense internet safety.

💠 People have some really, um, interesting names here, many NSFW. Personally, I think it's hilarious to reblog deep social commentary from someone with a porny name, but if you're concerned about having that on your blog, maybe make sure to check.

💠 I'm sure some of you are old enough that maybe you were on livejournal and are still mourning its loss. I miss it too, especially for fandom. Your best bet at recreating some of that experience is to find creators you like (many fic writers include their Tumblr on their ao3 profile or fics) and following and interacting with them here.

💠 You can either comment on or reblog posts if you want. Some people seem to have *opinions* as to whether it's better to comment or reblog but it sort of seems like a generational divide. I decide which one to do based on how much I want to add and if it's particularly interesting, well thought out, and/or funny.

💠 A lot of people talk about how likes are useless, but I personally think it's a YMMV type of thing. For a while I tried to keep my likes limited to things I wanted to save, since you can't save posts here unless you bookmark it on your browser. But I also tend to like personal posts or reblogs from mutuals as a mark of support. Yes, you should reblog art to boost the artist's exposure. And no one does what they should do every time and I'm sure artists still like getting likes even if they'd prefer reblogs.

💠 Some people have started putting DNI (do not interact) in their info on their blogs and may get mad if you reblog from them. Sometimes people reblog stuff that you like and then you find out that you strongly disagree with their politics/beliefs etc. No one sensible expects you to vet every single person you reblog and if anyone puts up a fuss, you can probably safely ignore them unless they report you for abuse. I've never heard of that happening.

💠 You can contact people two ways: asks and messages. Asks have a word limit and if you go past it, will broken up and may be sent in reverse order. Asks also allow you to be anonymous. People can reply publicly or privately. If you want it to stay private, you should probably state that. If you are anonymous, obviously the response can only come publicly. Messages are essentially chats. A lot of people are cool with getting messages, but I personally am too awkward to use them except with mutuals. (But I'm totally cool with getting them, if you are so inclined)

💠 Mutuals: some people follow others back everytime, some never do. But there's a funny thing where we (tumblr people) get deeply attached to mutuals even if we've never had an actual conversation beyond a comment or two. It's a thing, but a nice thing.

💠 There are a couple famous people hanging around. They're great and surprisingly good at tumblr. Be cool.

💠 Blaze posts are relatively new. You can pay like $10 to have your post shown to people like an ad. Some people use it to advertise their etsy or personal store site, but plenty of people also post pictures of their pets or reminders to drink water or hopes that you have a good day. I usually enjoy them but they're fairly unobtrusive if you don't.

💠 Because there isn't much of an algorithm here, ads can be really random and really strange. You can get rid of ads entirely with a paid account. I think that includes blaze posts but I'm not positive.

💠 Tags here are weird. They fall into a few categories:

🔹 Subject tags: fandoms, music, sports, current events, medical or psychological conditions, history, science, etc

🔹 Warning tags: they're obviously not required, but they're not hard to add and are really important for a lot of people. Sometimes they're posted as "cw: warning" or "tw: warning" but sometimes it's just the warning itself. Just do your best. If you see something tagged "unreality" it means that what you're reading isn't real, but may be presented as if it is. This is (to the best of my knowledge) a warning for people with delusional disorders. It's also generally acceptable to request that someone add a content warning.

🔹 Personal tags: people come up with tags they use on their own blogs for categorization. Some of them are pretty clever. If something is just tagged "personal" then it's considered rude to reblog unless the poster says it's okay.

🔹 Conversation tags: I've been here for ages, but I still don't know the origin of "talking in the tags." Whatever the reason, we do it a lot here. Sometimes it's a quick reference or quip, sometimes it's a dissertation. The longer the tags, the more entertaining they tend to be. If you see a screenshot of tags, that means that they have undergone "peer review"and deemed important or funny enough to be moved into the post itself. It's a high honor.

So I made another art book. It's not a companion piece for Second Head but it does lurk behind it.

I collected the EnGaGeMeNt for SH (up a date), removed all user names, and categorized each piece according to patterns presented or random observations or just my feelings regarding it. And then I bolted the book shut.

There is one personal copy. This is not a commercial product (that's weird) nor for profit (that's weirder). There will never be another. The master files are deleted. I make no claims to others copyright, even as this is a derivative, transformative work of artistic intent. Provided I am fortunate, I will never open this book again.

Take-aways from the categorization: We say 'cool' a shockingly high amount. People are so nice, I needed five different colors of tabs to mark all the 'nice stuff'. There were a lot more people unfamiliar with 'grew a second head' than I expected.

You know, this was going to be a drastically different project. I was coming off a bizarre couple days, after thousands of people came to call. I'm a child of sloth and habit; I don't truck with this many people. On top of being- Well, let's describe it as 'misunderstood'. I was feeling overwhelmed. Helpless. Angry, if I'm honest.

But as I went through all the comments and tags and- charts, I realized it wasn't as bad as I thought. Isn't that funny? Reading people's personal history was really quite nice. I remain impressed by some of y'all's fucking gall but most folks were just as confused as I was. The human condition, I suppose.

Should it need said, I don't enjoy explaining to strangers I'm not the thirty-first stupidest person presently on Earth. Nor do I enjoy realizing I simply have to give up that pursuit in order to not go nuts.

I researched the phrase 'grow a second head' with the intended use-case Before I spent weeks on a book about it. I cannot, Can Not believe my fellow travelers thought I'm digging through fucking Rick and Morty incest fics without doing Any diligence. I am not That type of troubled.

(Of course, that doesn't change the fact that my first known introduction to the phrase was, Yes, fanfic. Only Grace Jones can step me, stranger.)

Ultimately, I decided that the research wasn't relevant to the project as presented. 'It's the repetition' I thought. 'Folks will get it' I thought.

And thusly- Twist- I Am the thirty-first stupidest person on Earth to people who have immediately forgotten me. Now, obviously, no matter how clear I thought I was, I did not communicate appropriately, given the repeated misunderstanding. After all, I'm Still, To This Day, Even With The Updates, getting folks explaining 'it's not from fanfic'. But it is wild. The response was, in of itself, mimetic in a way. A project about repetition and propagation and yeah, imitation, in culture did- This. It's very nearly a fucking larf. Har. Har.

That's why Here is my little artist's statement. In a separate post. With my feelings of disappointment, vanity, bewildered annoyance, my personhood. And over There are the pictures. The signified and the signifier, detached. Throw the CONTENT in one way and run in the other. It's not even that people were 'mean' or 'ignorant'. They were absolutely not. I can't stress that enough. There's simply too much. We must hoard our full attention for our highest joys. We live like this now.

This is a lot of words for Tumblr (historically, a failure point) yet this whole thing is For Me. I'm having a good time. This isn't a problem. Argentina, it's cool. I'm simply working through art-school-based solutions to my feelings. Is this shitty? I don't know. But dot dot dot. If I Did go Joker Mode, I assure you it would be Cesar Romero.

I like drawing in a cartoony style! I have a bunch of original characters both tied to existing media and completely new.

Currently I sign my art with the tag "foglag_". I chose this username because I think it encapsulates how I feel a lot of the time.

I'm also moderately involved in the Tableturf community. I was briefly a competitive player, but now mainly help out behind the scenes and with spreading the word about the awesome but overlooked game mode that I am Definitely Very Normal About :) the funny squares make my 3 braincells ping together and create seratonin, okay

the one who deactivated and gave up spn because they became catholic: this is former spn blogger carrotfricker. they made all sorts of cool graphics, then got religion and left the fandom. They still have a main blog where all they post is nature art. general fandom consensus is that it was catholicism that did them in, but all I can find in the archived pages is references to an unspecified branch of christianity. maybe some other people who followed them more closely know for sure it was catholicism though.

Wincest Nancy: nancylou444. one of the the ringleaders of a particularly annoying group of wincesties. if you're on here long enough without blocking her she WILL appear in your notes unless you block her, i haven't done that because i think it's honestly kind of funny and i like complaining

the one who deactivated after writing a "diverse spn fic" that was just racist: princesshamlet, who decided to make supernatural suck less by turning everybody into different minorities whether they knew what they were doing or not. In their own words, they were "a white person writing nonwhite characters who has spoken to people of the identities they want to represent". And by "spoken to" they meant they used POC for ideas and information, didn't give them anything in return for their time and energy, and also didn't even listen to them most times. Not going into detail because it really doesn't need to be spread around again but basically everything they put in this fic was heinously racist, homo/transphobic, and misogynistic on the same level with the original show or worse. And apart from the racism, they were also just a really bad writer. After getting called out by fans of color on their racism they did not apologize or delete but tried to defend what they did in various ways. Like saying that other fans of color had told them what they wrote was fine, or bringing up that they're a jewish lesbian, or trying to claim that they were third culture. The "#down with big ph" tag became a thing since it was really clear they weren't sorry and had no intention of even trying to make up for what they did. Eventually they did give up on being defensive, deleted the fic and apologized multiple times badly, then deactivated. For awhile someone had claimed the blog url and turned it into this

the one who wrote the "jared padalecki is a physical and sexual behemoth" post: Former j2/wincest blogger go-diane-winchester. This is the person behind banger posts such as "hellers have so many different ship names because they're a psychotic cult" and "misha collins is a scam artist who chose his name because it is gender confusing and he wants to use that to tap into the liberal community" but mostly for this post. I think they did have some valid points about misha collins acting way more progressive than he is but it's really undercut by the fact they think j2 is better than him and that they use their bachelor degree knowledge to write sentences like "He can barely top his wife, let alone Jensen Ackles."

whoever sent me an anon ask saying they want to fuck eric kripke: if you hang around the spn fandom long enough people will start sending you asks about how hot they find the creator of spn. or at least they will if you're me. i love the fact that someone looked at my blog and went "yeah she'll appreciate this, this is a safe space to admit i want eric kripke carnally." if you guy ever want to tell me things like that on anon go ahead, the worst that's gonna happen is i put you in a poll like this.

the prolifer who wrote fic where the winchesters homeschool jack*: prolifejackkline. a christian (protestant) prolifer who was in the spn fandom, they're still around but under a new url and they don't really blog about spn anymore, but like a true protestant they did discover zionism though. at some point they were writing a fic where the winchesters homeschool jack, i believe it was also a baby!jack fic. I know this existed and several other people have said they remember it too but i can't find it anywhere online so it may have been deleted.

AI training statement

I don't usually do text posts on this blog, much less random rants.

Anyway, Tumblr recently decided to do a Business Move where they sold image data to AI training companies.

First, I was like "Ha ha ha ha HA! Tumblr really is a good source for that stuff." I mean, this blog of mine is deliberately an outlet of mediocre photography.

To be perfectly clear: This blog is my outlet for publishing photos that i've deemed neat. They're not necessarily my best work. Some may be excellent like that. Some may be good. Some may be not. Many indeed may be not.

So I was kind of torn about this. Should I keep opted in to this shit? Contribute to the eventual model collapse where people ask AIs to generate good pictures with tags "Nikon D780", "Stylistic", "black and white", and end up with random nonsense?

Another thing was that I actually believe in open sharing of my work, and I really don't mind people reblogging my stuff or even sharing my work elsewhere (with proper attribution/back links).

But I ended up disabling the third-party sharing.

Why? Well, primarily, because I didn't consent to that in the first place.

Also, second thing to consider:

I was actually reminded that this thing was a thing when I was watching Super Eyepatch Wolf's The Bizarre World of Fake Video Games. One Tumblr blog mentioned by the author had disappeared. Commenters said that that could have been due to Tumblr's AI policy change.

OK, so there are art blogs in Tumblr that take art much more seriously than I do, obviously. And they might not even be aware of this policy change.

Dammit.

So:

Granted, whatever AI company is foolish enough to download Tumblr data is going to get a whoooooole lot of incomprehensible nonsense shit, outright Content of Halfassery, and Weird Nerd Shit, and go "whoops! Didn't mean to add any of that!"

But they might catch an occasional bit of brilliance.

Without them knowing it.

Tumblr did a booboo. The usual way websites do this stuff is to recognise that users have the ultimate rights under copyright laws, and that the websites ask limited rights to do whatever they need to do to operate technically, and whatever exceptions there are are specified explicitly. Tumbrl's TOS already tried to cover their butt:

You also agree that this license includes the right for Tumblr to make all publicly-posted Content available to third parties selected by Tumblr, so that those third parties can syndicate and/or analyze such Content on other media and services.

An example of what it means to "make all publicly-posted Content available" to a Tumblr partner for distribution or analysis would be licensing the Tumblr "firehose," a live feed of all public activity on Tumblr, to partners like search engines.

...and despite that policy change, this thing was not added to the "examples". The examples are just about things that you expect Tumblr to do as part of third-party integration, like analytics and search engine stuff. Not stuff like, oh, agreeing to send all of the data to AI companies, and adding opt-out feature afterwards. Funny how that works!

Maybe it's high time Tumblr clarified this particular part of TOS. I'm not a lawyer, I'm a software developer nerd an an an amateur artist, I've learned a lot about intellectual property stuff as a consequence, but this stuff is still murky and Tumblr just straight up deciding to "donate" content to AI companies without users' explicit consent is straight up wrong.
