listen, i love harry as much as the next girl right? but i am done pretending that ben wasn't an absolute catch, like look at this cutie
i get audrey cause if this was my boyfriend and the daughter of the woman who tried to kill my mother stole him from me by giving him a love potion i'd be bitter and angry too. anyway, this is my official coming out as a ben girlie.

Mal's real lucky that Ben found the whole "giving me a cookie you spiked with a love potion" thing, cute.
Because otherwise this would've been a very different movie.

i love ever after high and decedants. for very different reasons but yk. however!!!!!
i think most people will agree with me but either way i can and will ramble. Raven Queen is a better character than Mal (mal doesn't have a last name btw? why??)
Mal turns her mum into a lizard, uses a love potion to get with her future husband, and her last movie she completely turns against her home? That is an over simplification yes, but like? honestly theres not much else?? i rewatched the first 3 recently and theres just not much else? she just keeps repeatedly going back to her old ways, then learning the flaws in that. and i understand getting better isn't linear? but repeatedly going back to your old ways then just????? whatever the fuck the 3rd movies arc was? just? no.
raven actually has a complex relationship with her mum, she has some little romance but its not a large part of her, and one of her most interesting arcs is in wonderland when she has to accept both sides of her! she struggles with her destiny, and actually addresses it!!!!!!!!!! she has actual depth as a character, i could actually talk about her for ages! shes s o fascinating, and i love her so much.
i don't know if ill watch decendants 4. im torn on that. but if they want to make the characters a ton better, learn from eah. its so much better

Something I’ve Noticed
So, my boyfriend had gotten me back into Descendants and this is a movie franchise from my childhood
I was just going through some pictures of Mal and I really couldn’t help but piece together from a combination of her appearance as well as well what I remember of her personality from the films and after connecting a few dots I came to a very random realization
Mal is essentially human Uzi before Uzi even was a thing
Adding on to this, I can also see Ben as a human equivalent of N

Descendants except Ben is actually very not cool with the love potion cookies.
But he doesn't release the news. Because he knows how badly it will reflect on the VK's as a whole. He knows they'll all be punished and lose even the fragile hope of ever escaping the island.
Ben won't do that to them. He was always too selfless for his own good. But he's also hurt and afraid for the first time he's been with Mal.
She looks confused and he almost laughs.
"What? Did you think I'd be okay with this? I humiliated myself infront of everyone, I've lost my girlfriend and the trust of my friends because of you."
Ben shakes his head so this was karma.
"You played with me. Just like everyone said you would. I didn't believe them because I wanted to give you a chance."
Lot of good that did him.
"I won't tell."
That suprised her and he smiled. All polite and professional and she flinched at the sight of it. They'd all grown accustomed to Ben's real smile.
"I'd be sentencing every VK to ever exist. No one else would get the chance if this got out. So no need to curse me, or whatever it is you want to do."
"I wouldn't curse you" said Mal and it hurt more than it should that he didn't believe her.
But why would he? He had no reason too. Ben simply smiled again and left. He told Audrey a lie, grovelled and apologised, a prank gone wrong and he was so sorry.
He was even if it wasn't his fault.
Ben moved out the way when Jay tried to put an arm around him. He focused on Doug whenever Carlos tried to speak to him. Made an excuse when Evie made herself known.
And steered clear of Mal at every turn. Eventually Mal told them all what transpired and to their suprise they shared her feeling of guilt.
They'd never cared how their actions would affect others. Maybe it was because Ben had been the first person to truly see them. To see not children of villian's but children.
The mission didn't feel as important now. Disappointing their parents didn't seem nearly as bad as knowing Ben may have just given up on them completly.
He had treated them as he treated everyone else. He was a safety net in an unfamiliar world, warmth when they'd only known cold.
That net was gone and they had no one to blame but themselves.
And Ben was still protecting them by hiding the truth. He could've had them hunted down and imprisoned but he chose to leave them free.
Oh sure he kept an eye on them, but it was to ensure they wouldn't hurt anyone else. Ben didn't care they'd hurt him, like the true hero that he was.
... Maybe it was time they returned the favour and protected him too.

Every time I think of twst next gen and think of characters based on the Decedents character, I remember first seeing the second and third movie and finding out that Mall (daughter of Maleficent) and Uma (Daughter of Ursula) had beef before the events of the movie.
And it's like playground beef that escalated through their childhood. Mall even nicknamed Uma "Shrimpy" so thinking about how Malleus's kid and Azul's kid would interact is fucking funny to me. So their whole dynamic is similar to Leona's and Malleus's.
This is even funnier because I thought of Leona's kid being bff's with Malleus's kid (Kinda like how Mal and Ben or like Kovu and Kiara)
