Time machine.
Getting together with a college roommate can feel like getting into a time machine. That’s especially true if you are able to unearth clothing that goes back as long as you’ve known each other. Such was the case today that included wearing a vest that dates back to the late ‘80′s and a similarly longstanding friendship.
The Banana Republic olive green distressed leather vest was purchased at the Gap Outlet in Kentucky, just across the river in Cincinnati (this was a “real” outlet - more of a warehouse than today’s retail stores housed in an outlet mall). We both bought the same vest back then for something around $5, although this one seems to be the lone survivor. The tag is a good indication of just how old it is, dating back to when BR was more about pith helmets than wear-to-work garb.
The rest of the outfit is a bit of a mish-mash of items, starting with the snake-print long sleeve tee from the Altuzarra capsule collection for Target ($20). The Rock & Republic jeans are from Kohl’s and while the receipt is MIA, they were likely found on clearance for about $20 (not that it matters much given the low prices of each of the other items in the outfit). The shoes came from Macy’s and were found on clearance for a very reasonable $12. It all works well enough for a Sunday afternoon spent reminiscing about the good old days and looking forward to what is yet to come.
