Today was the day you debuted, you sat at your desk going through your slide show, letting the viewers get to know you;

" As you know from my lore, I am another mob boss. " You said with a smile looking at your character reference sheet before looking over at the chat;

Chat: ChairKun223: Luca's rival right? What's that like YVT/N?

You couldn't help but smile at the question, adjusting yourself in the chair you hummed softly thinking about a good response,

" I admire him, he and I are polar opposites. He's always smiles. I know when to be serious when it counts. He views his work as play. " You said trying to sound bitter. The image of your golden retriever like lover popped into your head and you had to fight back a fond smile to stay in character for your debut.

You spent the next hour going through the rest of the slide show and talking to chat. Finally ending, your door flung open and your chair was spun around before you were grabbed up off the chair and spun around in a tight hug;

" YOU WERE SO POG BABE! " The one and only Luca Kaneshiro beamed hugging you tight and spinning you around. Your laughs echoed in the room hugging him back.

Despite being rivals in your lore, you were the blond mafia boss's lover and you had been with him long before you debuted, hell you've been together long before HIS debut. He adored you and you adored him. It was hard not to, his puppy like personality and his sense of humor. You two just clicked. Of course your friends and co workers knew about your relationship with Luca and they fully supported you, you hadn't made your relationship public so neither the Lucubs or your community knew about you and Luca.

" Thank you my love! I could hear you watching my stream in the living room. " You said with a cheeky smile, causing him to blush ever so lightly. He set you back down on the floor and he place a soft loving kiss on your cheek.

" I wish we didn't have to hide our relationship! The Lucubs would be so happy that we're together! " Luca whined and grasped your shoulders shaking you lightly.

" I know, me too but gotta make the lore seem real ya goof. " You replied holding onto his wrists as he shook you lightly as not to hurt you.

The next year was full of so many fun collabs with Luca and other streamers. You always had so much fun with the other NIJI EN members. Spending time with them both on streams and outside of streams. You remembered being a simple viewer at one point, watching the NIJI EN talents and wishing you could do what they do and be apart of their world (Little mermaid reference XD ANYWAYS-). And not long after Luca introduced you to Tazumi san, you were given an opportunity to audition and be apart of NIJI EN which you jumped at right away. When you were accepted, Luca was over the moon. He couldn't stop talking about it for days and he even helped you get a model commission and helped you write your lore.

There came a day when you organized a goose goose duck collab, wanting to do another collab with language switch ups, You invited Ike, Ver, Vezalius, Enna, Mika, Nina and Reimu and Luca wanted to tag along and watch the game in VC, you being the sucker you are, agreed to let him sit in. And of course you assigned each a language, You would be sticking with Japanese, Ike had Swedish, Ver had Korean, Zali had French, Enna had Chinese, Mika had Indonesian, Nina had Russian and Reimu was given Spanish. Since you had watched the other collab the language switch up was used in, you knew this was about to get chaotic but you were also incredibly excited. Everything was set up and stream started;

" Alright~! Hello everyone! So as you can see, we're doing another goose goose duck stream with the language twist, so would everyone like to introduce themselves in the languages they were given? " You asked with a smile, Ver deciding to start out;

" Hi everyone, my name is Ver Vermillion, I'm speaking in Korean! 안녕하세요 여러분! 내 이름은 Ver Vermillion, 저는 한국어로 말하고 있습니다! (Hi everyone, my name is Ver Vermillion, I'm speaking in Korean!) "

Ike jumped in straight after Ver,

"Hello everyone, I am Ike Eveland, a Virtual Novelist from Nijisanji EN and part of Luxiem! And one more time, I am talking Swedish. Next was Nina,

Then came Mika,

Enna chimed in,

Now Reimu jumped in,

And finally you gave your introduction,

And of course no line of introductions would be complete if Luca didn't chime in to introduce himself,

" HIIIIII GUYS! I'm Luca Kaneshiro! I am just gonna be spending some time in the VC while my game downloads and if it finishes before the collab is over, YVT/N said I could speak backwards so I'm not completely understood, POGGGGGGGGG!!! " He said happily causing the rest of the people in the collab to snicker at his enthusiasm.

" Right~! With introductions out of the way, let's get the first round started! Good luck everyone~! " You beamed as the game began.

And of course, as expected, it was complete chaos. There was zero understanding between anyone. You were walking around trying to find a task before stopping, seeing Enna and Nina having some sort of stand off but not understanding a word either woman was saying.

Within a few rounds, Luca finally was able to join into the fun. The new round started, You ran past Ver being chased yelling in Korean by Ike who was yelling in Swedish but of course you didn't understand what either of them were saying. Before running into Luca who was standing over a dead Enna,

" LUCA! 殺しましたか Enna!? (LUCA! Did you kill Enna?!) " You said backing away

" Tahw?! I nod't dnatsrednu tahw ruoy gniyas TVY/N! (What?! I don't understand what your saying YVT/N!) " Luca stammered out, barely able to get through a sentence.

Hearing Luca struggle at getting a sentence out backwards was enough to cause you to snicker,

" 体の上に立つ Luca! 他に誰が殺しただろう Enna?! (Your standing over a body Luca! Who else could have killed Enna?!) " You said quickly going to report Enna's body.

⚠️ EMERGENCY MEETING ⚠️

" 私は見つけた Luca 立っている Enna's 体! (I found Luca standing over Enna's body!) " You spoke out

" Nina jagade mig! (Nina was chasing me!) " Ike called out

" Мне показалось, что я вижу Ike убей кого-нибудь, чтобы я последовал за ним (I thought I saw Ike kill someone so I followed him) " Nina said trying to be heard over the wave of voices

You could see your chat going nuts over the complete chaos this collab was. No one could understand each other and communication was just dead in the water. As the round went on, people were voted out and in the end, the goose ended up winning and the goose turned out to be Ver. Back in the lobby, voices rung out and everyone was finally able to understand each other, everyone was laughing. Luca walked over to you and spoke,

" BABE! I TOLD YOU IT WASN'T ME THAT KILLED ENNA! " He yelled, faking being hurt

It took a second to realize what Luca had said but when it registered, you looked back to your chat.

Chat: Chairkun223: DID LUCA JUST CALL YVT/N BABE?! YVT/NSimp: OH MY GOD Luca'sJacket44: ARE THEY TOGETHER?! LucaxYVT/NOTP: AWWWH~!

Your jaw hit your desk and you couldn't help but nervous laugh,

" L...luca, we're still live. " you said, your eyes still glued on your chat

" What? What I say? " He asked before he looked at his own chat and realized his mistake.

Both chats were going wild with questions and people squealing over the fact that YVT/N and Luca were a couple. It took a few seconds before the others in the collab realized what happened since you and Luca had gone silent. The rest of the collab was filled with you and Luca trying to go the rest of the collab without looking at the chats, each time you ran into another person in the collab, you could only assume they were teasing you since you couldn't understand a word being said.

The end of the collab came, everyone said their goodbyes and you said goodbye to chat, Luca ran in and hugged you apologizing for outting the relationship during the collab and of course you reassured him that it was okay.

From then on, Luca made sure he was incredibly loving even in streams, he was shameless in letting chat know how amazing he thought you were and how much he loved you.

Everyone, thank you so much for coming to the Shonichi performance. I am Yuzuka Rei from Flower Troupe. (Everyone, thank you so much for coming to the Shonichi performance. I am Yuzuka Rei from Flower Troupe. (removes hat) Because I can’t see everyone’s faces, so I took it off. I’m so happy to see everyone today. We received so much energy from the enthusiastic applause. All of us Flower Troupe members felt so alive on stage as we worked hard together. Thank you so much.

From January, we started from the Takarazuka Grand Theatre and now we finally start here in Tokyo Performances "MAYERLING” “ENCHANTEMENT – A Luxurious Perfume–". Even though we were nervous in January in the Takarazuka Grand Theatre, in the Tokyo performances, it is already spring. Therefore in this warm and friendly season, we hope to deliver a gorgeous play and show. So we hope that you could come to watch our performances every day, please continue to support us.

For the play, the premiere is 1983 and in the year of 2023, it is the 40th anniversary. This is a famous musical with history, and now that Flower Troupe members can take on the challenge to perform this, it is difficult, but we’re grateful and feel honoured for performing it. Even though it may be difficult to shape these characters, yet we’ll value the script and do our best in studying the roles and characters till the Senshuuraku. Therefore please continue to support. Thank you so much for your support.

各位，非常感謝大家來觀看今天的初日公演。

我是花組的柚香光。（摘下帽子）因為看不到大家的臉，所以就摘下來了。今天能見到大家真是太開心了。熱烈的掌聲給我們帶來了巨大的能量，我們花組生一起們在舞台上一起努力，感覺自己充滿了活力。所以非常感謝大家。

從一月開始，我們從寶塚大劇院開始，現在我們終於在這裡開始了東京公演「梅耶林」「ENCHANTEMENT–華麗的香水–」。雖然一月份我們在寶塚大劇院很緊張，但在東京公演中，已經是春天了，所以在這個溫暖友善的季節裡，我們希望能傳遞一場華麗的劇與秀，所以希望大家每天都來看我們的演出，請繼續支持我們。

關於劇的話，首演是1983年，2023年是40週年，這是一部有歷史性的名作，現在花組的來挑戰演出，雖然是很不容易，但是我們很感恩，也覺得很榮幸。雖然塑造這些角色可能很困難，但我們會珍惜劇本，努力研究角色和人物，直到千秋樂努力表演。感謝您的支持。

[Yuzuka Rei’s Shonichi Speech 初日ご挨拶2️⃣]

2079 seats…There are 2079 seats in the Tokyo Takarazuka Theatre as you are seated right now. While we’ve been in a long while that it’s not possible to have all the seats filled, but today finally we can embrace the day where all of the theatre is fully seated. Therefore I’m so overwhelmed in my heart, that I feel so grateful that my heart feels like bursting. Thank you so much! 

Thank you. When I became the Top Star in my beloved Flower Troupe in my debut performance “Haikara-san ga Tooru”, the theatre was only seated with half or even less audience members. And there’s been so much going on and that’s how we spent the time with everyone. We’ve had a no-audience performance before and there’s so many unforgettable moments during this period. But then the audience has been supporting us unfailingly and today – FULL-HOUSE! (applause) Thank you, thank you so much!

It’s 3 years since we have a full-house and seeing everyone today really makes my heart want to burst! Thank you so so much! And more than anything, I remember everyone’s thoughts for us and I want to thank those audience who came here to this Shonichi performance, me including all of Flower Troupe members such as the graduates, everyone are also heartfelt thankful for you all. So thank you! We will carry this thankful heart till Senshuuraku and we will all do our best, thank you all so much!

BTS’ Suga Electrifies UBS Arena As He Kicks Of His First Solo Tour

“Once you come to a BTS concert, you can’t go anywhere else!”

Suga boldly joked in BTS’ 2021 FESTA video. The same statement can be totally true for his own solo concerts. The BTS rapper and producer brought the house down in the first two shows of his D-Day world tour at UBS Arena in Belmont Park, New York, on April 26th and 27th, 2023. He’s the first member from the wildly successful K-Pop group to embark on a solo tour after the group announced they would be pursuing their own projects before going into the South Korean military. His performances spanned his whole career and were packed with ferocious and emotional moments that are to the fullest degree, unforgettable.

Carried by dancers with the background of harsh thunder and sights of a storm, Suga was laid down peacefully in the middle of the elaborate stage. The traditional strings of “Haegeum” prompted him to jump up into an explosive set and there was no backing down from there. His prolific rap song “Daechwita” echoed with its thumping trap beats and the crowd sang back to him, affirming that he was indeed a king and a boss. The next track, the eponymous “Agust D” confirmed it wholeheartedly. As “give it to me” played over, segments of the stage rose slowly and flames erupted from beneath—starting a remarkable entrance into the tour.

After the roaring first four songs, the star of the night introduced himself. “I’m Suga or Agust D or Yunki,” he said with a grin, referring to his stage name, alter ego and real name. The three names differentiated the unique parts of his musical path, but the concert chronicled them all together under one roof. He stepped back and performed “Trivia 轉 : Seesaw” on an acoustic guitar decorated by the other six members of BTS—a little memento to take on the road from his core group and to perform one of the beloved songs from the Love Yourself era.

As more parts of the stage rose up to the ceiling, Suga took the audience to several cozy nooks that were just unveiled and performed the chill and relaxing track “SDL” on a lounge chair. He harked back to two different eras of Agust D with “People” from D-2 which seamlessly transitioned to “People Pt.2 (feat. IU)” from his latest album D-Day. His debut full-length album was released five days before the tour started. Still, the crowd sang in a unifying chorus for both songs with the former asking “Why so serious?” and the latter decorated by IU’s delicate vocals.

It steadily flowed to “Moonlight,” a song that travels the inner workings of his mind and the pursuits of writing a song. He reflected in the catchy hook, “A lot changed in my life, but / That moonlight is still the same.” The pensive moment is halted by “Burn It (feat. Max)” where inferno was inevitable and his raps and verses were quite literally, fire.

Though the concert was incredibly distinct from a normal BTS concert, Suga devoted a chunk of the concert to his raps within the group’s discography. “Interlude: Shadow” mimicked the music video where he contemplates his life as an idol and the hidden darkness of fame. “The moment I’m flying high as I wished / My shadow grows in that blasting stark light / Please don’t let me shine / Don’t let me down, don’t let me fly,” he sang after stating he wants to be a “rap star,” “rock star” and a “king.” A medley of “BTS Cypher Pt. 3” and “BTS Cypher Pt. 4,” sans his rap-line mates j-hope (who just joined the military) and RM, sparked endless vibrancy. It led to the undercuts of the threatening “UGH!” and the highly coveted unreleased track “Ddaeng.” The momentum heated up for “HuH?! (feat. j-hope)” which the text in the background screen aggressively imitated the vigor of the lyrics “What the shit, do you know about me?”

The energy settled afterward when Suga stood up to the mic stand, but not without loud barking from ARMY. His face was puzzled and simultaneously entertained. (He later asked the crowd, “Did someone train you guys?”) He walked down the stairs to perform a “familiar and not familiar” song on a grand piano garnished with a bottle of whiskey and water. “Life Goes On,” a song originally from BTS’ 2020 album Be, was reworked and revolved around Suga’s verse on 2023’s D-Day. “Life goes on,” he repeated until ending with a beautiful suspended glissando outro.

It’s actually a poignant introduction to a clip of Suga’s documentary Road to D-Day where he meets his musical hero Ryuichi Sakamoto, who passed away weeks before the album’s release. The Japanese musical genius worked on “Snooze” with Suga and also features Woosung of The Rose. The chords Sakamoto plays on the piano reverberates when Yunki performs the song live and his passion for music and storytelling is clearly on display. Yunki honored his legacy with a simple phrase on a black screen, “I wish you peace in your long journey.”

Venturing into the more vulnerable tracks “Polar Night” and “AMYGDALA,” Suga’s stage increasingly unravels as he reveals more of his personal struggles on the path to fame. The ground floor was entirely in flames as he sang, “What didn’t kill me only made me stronger / And I begin to bloom like a lotus flower once again.”

As he walked into the first song of the encore, “D-Day,” his stage was completely gone and only had a few platform props to make him visible beyond the crowd. He climbed up a small elevated stage and waved to every corner of the arena in “Intro: NEVER MIND,” before being surveilled by dozens of cameras surrounding him in the last song, aptly titled “The Last.” He gave his all while shouting the lyrics, “My pride which I thought I had given away / Has turned into self-respect/ My fans, keep your head high with pride / Because who can do it like me” before a spruce of flares shot up into the air and immediately the house lights flashed on, and he was walking confidently away from the mic and the crowd. And with those steps going off stage, he cemented his place as one of the best and most captivating K-Pop producers and performers to date.

Megumi Ogata: Thank you for having me.

Part 1: The manga that changed my life!

Introducing the "bible manga" that deeply influenced her to the point of changing her life. We delve deeply into "turning points in life" and "personal experiences".

Manga Vible: What bible manga will you be introducing?

Megumi Ogata: I would like to pick up "Yu Yu Hakusho" because it is the work of my starting point in this industry.

The hero Yusuke was involved in a traffic accident in order to save a child and dies. But, he wasn't supposed to die. His death was in vain. He was told that if he went through some trials, he could be revived, and that's how he came back to life and became a spirit detective. From there, the story gradually turns into a battle manga, typical of Jump.

But, in the anime, this beginning was removed, so it abruptly became a battle anime. My role only begins when there are fights, so I've always had this image of a battle manga.

Manga Vible: I would be very happy if you could tell us how you first came across "Yu Yu Hakusho".

Megumi Ogata: It was the first work I auditioned for.

I was quite nervous to I read it. When I was told I would be playing the role of Kurama, I didn't know what kind of work it was at first, so I went to buy that week's issue of JUMP magazine.

But, on the opening of the "Yu Yu Hakusho" chapter was "Youko Kurama" and I thought, "Is this Kurama!?".

I was amazed to think I would be playing such a scary-looking person. I went into Yu Yu Yakusho from a state of surprise.

Part 2: Yu☆Yu☆Hakusho is so popular that...

An unexpected incident took place!!

Manga Vible: How popular did you feel Yu Yu Hakusho was in the society, at the time it was decided to be animated?

Megumi Ogata: I heard later that it was an extremely popular work.

The first occasion I learned about it, is a highly personal story.

I got married very early on, before my debut, and when I moved from stage acting to a voice acting agency, my schedule changed drastically, it was a mess. My then-married partner got mad. Then, one day we had a fight.

He said: "If you can't get involved in any work that will make you "germinate" as a voice actor within a year, you should quit being a voice actor! Quit your agency and become a housewife. However, if within a year, you get some major role, let's get divorced."

I was like, "Oh, I see, I get it". Then, the next day, I got a phone call saying, "You got the role of Kurama".

When I said, "I passed the test", my partner at the time, who was a Jump reader, left the next day and never came back.

That's when I understood how popular it was.

Yu Yu Hakusho is a very popular work. He knew that the role I got was very popular. So, he said "Goodbye", and left me. I got into this work with the thought: "It's so popular".

Before recording Yu Yu Hakusho, I made sure to read the whole volumes. I only started working after properly reading them.

Part 3: Ogata-san reread it and noticed the "modern-ish" of Yu☆Yu☆Hakusho.

Manga Vile: Were there any parts that you felt were attractive that other works don't have?

Megumi Ogata: It's just really amusing.

Togashi-sensei is a genius.

I think there were parts in "Yu Yu Hakusho" where the teacher's way of drawing and the way he structured the story changed rapidly, and I thought that was interesting as well.

In the latter half of the story, I was like "What is going on?". Somehow, I was trying my best to understand it. Togashi-sensei has a radical side, so when I was involved with Yu Yu Hakusho, I felt like I was desperately trying to keep up.

I read the manga once more for this interview. In the beginning, the story starts like a royal road (T/N: in the classic way of a battle shounen), but then it turns into a battle of wits. That's what's so interesting about it.

I think it's a very modern-ish manga, to the point where it feels like I'm working with current animation.

The way sensei's mind has evolved and changed during those years is amazing. Including that, Togashi-sensei is like a genius. I think he really is an inborn manga artist.

The characters were also very fascinating, not only the main character team, but also the antagonists were all wonderful.

A lot of "Yu Yu Hakusho" CHARACTER SONG ALBUMS were released, and they sold over 250,000 copies. The ones with only the enemy characters singing sold 80,000 copies. The enemies are all fascinating that there were so many people who wanted to hear the songs they sing. I think that the sales numbers is like proof that wonderful characters were created.

Part 4: Portraying Kurama

Joy and Conflict

Manga Vible: Kurama was played by Ogata-san, how did you capture his character and personality?

Megumi Ogata: It was really difficult.

He's a very multifaceted character. But more than anything, the most difficult of all was the idea that, on the inside, he's actually a person who's lived for hundreds of years, but on the outside he's a good-looking high school student. It's a very mentally demanding role.

However, it was my debut work and I was still young, so it was really difficult to say whether I could express him myself.

The more I read the manga the more I thought:

"He's not a newbie like me. Isn't he a character who would be better played by a more accomplished veteran?"

I thought that would be difficult to express.

Sometimes, we say superficial things, or even pretentious things. But, in his case, he doesn't say those things just to try to look cool, a lot is said intentionally and with great significance.

If you end up playing him in a superficial way, the character would instantly lose his charm.

In what way can I put this? It was very difficult to figure out how to grasp his underlying emotions. Therefore, it was really awkward to play his lines.

But, I recorded the new animation a few years ago, and I thought I was Kurama now.

Every time, I was trying my best to make it work while overreaching myself. After 25 years or so, I felt like I've finally gotten used to it and could be the Kurama I really wanted to be. I'm glad I did it.

Manga Vible: Are there any impressive scenes or lines that convey Kurama's character?

Megumi Ogata: I think there are so many that I can't even tell which ones. He's a man who thinks a lot when he talks, so I think it's more important to consider the feelings behind the words he's choosing to use.

I bit off more than I could chew when I played all those lines, but I wonder if I've fed off all this hard work.

Up until the Dark Martial Arts Tournament, he was just a handsome (ikemen) character in an ordinary battle manga.

After that, there were a lot of lines where he sounded like a staff officer/adviser. I remember that tremendously.

Manga Vible: The more you read it, the deeper it gets?

Megumi Ogata: The more I read it, the more I think Togashi-sensei is a genius!

Part 5: "Yu Yu Hakusho" is the starting point of Megumi Ogata

Manga Vible: What did you learn from Yu Yu Hakusho?

Megumi Ogata: "Yu Yu Hakusho" is the basis of who I am today. I think it is no exaggeration to say that I learned everything from this work.

Well, the biggest thing for me as a voice actor was that the sound director at the time was very sensitive to false acting, regardless whether you were a newcomer or a senior actor.

He's the one who told me, "You don't really believe that, do you? There's no need to affected lines. It's useless if you're not in tune with the character."

Because he constantly told me those kind of things, they became the foundation of my work.

I thought being a voice actor was all about being "kuroko", so why are there so many events? And why do I have to publish a photo-book?

T/N: Kuroko are stagehands in kabuki theater. They wear all black, head to toe, in order to imply that they are invisible and not part of the action onstage. Similarly, voice actors, unlike other actors, don't show their face to the public while working.

I was able to build the basis of my current occupation by being involved in this work. It's no exaggeration to say that "Yu Yu Hakusho" was the starting point of everything.

It's all thanks to Togashi-sensei.

Manga Vible: As it is already the 30th anniversary of this work, what kind of people would you like to see reading "Yu Yu Hakusho" now?

Megumi Ogata: Of course, everyone who was reading JUMP back then, but I hope that everyone who has not yet come in contact with Yu Yu Hakusho can read it. It's a work where you can really see the evolution of Togashi-sensei, and the true value of his work. I think it is very interesting!

Even those who have only read current manga, you can enjoy it just as much as the others. There are also various famous quotes scattered throughout the manga that will make your heart tremble. It has so many classic parts. And, I think it's a work that will really cheer you up when you read it. By all means, I hope you will come into contact with it.

For those who have read it a long time ago, I hope you will read it again in commemoration of the 30th anniversary. I think you will enjoy it together with your own memories of that time. It also means looking back on various things.

Yu Yu Hakusho is my starting point, it is the starting point of all of you who read it, and it is a work that has a lot of tips for everyone in the future.

“Aw, that's my girl,” Yunho lay beside you, then pinched your cheeks.

He laughs so hard. “By the way, do you want to go out for dinner with me?” asked Yunho.

“Yes I want. I'm very hungry. I haven't eaten anything today,” You answered.

“Well then, let's go!” You both laughed.

The two of you arrive at your favourite restaurant down the street. “It's strange,” said Yunho.

“Strange why?” You asked.

“The restaurant always full. Why is it empty right now? It looks dark too,” He looks confused.

“Oh, I forgot. Before we go inside the restaurant, you need to wear this,” You tiptoed, then covered his eyes with a piece of black cloth.

“Hey, I can't see anything!!!” Yunho panicked.

“Relax, baby. I'm here, holding your hands,” You hold his hand, then walk slowly into the restaurant.

Then, I open the door and give everyone there signal to get ready on their position. “Where are we? Are we safe?” He asked.

“We're safe. I will open this cloth, but do not open your eyes until I tell you to open it, okay?” said you.

“Oh, okay then,” Yunho nodded.

“On the count of three, please open your eyes. 1 ... 2 ... 3!” You shouted.

Right when Yunho opens his eyes, everyone shouts, “Happy birthday!”

“Well, it's true that I told Hongjoong to booked the whole restaurant, then I asked for their help to decorated this place, and I also told my family your favorite foods so they will know what food should they buy when you come to my house,” You answered.

“Oh my, I'm so lucky to have you, Sweetie,” Yunho hugs you so tight, then he kisses all your face.

“Yunho, it tickles!” You laughed so hard.

“Okay, okay, I'm sorry, baby,” He laughs, then closes his eyes and blows the candle.

“YEAAYY!!” Everyone clapped their hands.

“Now cut this cake, and give the first slice to someone you love the most,” said Seonghwa.

“Of course he will give it to his girlfriend,” said Wooyoung.

He's right. Yunho gives the first slice to you. “Whoa, I don't know this cake would taste so good,” said Yunho while he ate the cake.

“You know what, Yunho? Your girlfriend is the one who made this cake,” said Yeosang with full mouth.

“I don't know you can make this cake ...,” Yunho looks surprised.

“Actually, your mom is the one who taught me how to make this cake,” said you.

“I love this cake so much! Thank you for making this small party. Thank you for making this cake, and thank you for everything, Darling. I love you so much,” Yunho hugs you again, then kisses you on the lips.

“Jeong Yunho really is the luckiest man in the world,” said San.

I’m going to put some thoughts about MCCP Pink Parrots under the cut (not all are positive, so if you don’t want me to be a party pooper please don’t read)

I know people (*cough* Twitter) have issues with this team because they’re all Cis Het White Males and one made a “lesbiophobic joke” five years ago or something. I agree that it’s probably better to “split the clout” to uplift other creators, especially with three (3) Clout People in the same team (unlike the infamous Pink8 which only had Two Clout People), but I understand why Scott made this decision.

This team feels almost specifically made to hype people up, and the combination will attract people to watch and donate, thus raising more money. While representation is good, I think money raised to practically help people > representation this time. Because this is a charity Pride stream, not just a Pride stream. Raising money is the focus here. Famous cishet white male allies can raise a lot of money. Money can help people. These are all facts whether you like it or not. And if you want to see more LGBTQA+ creators in MCC, support them. If you don’t like a certain creator, don’t watch their team. The end.

Don’t know too much about the other three, but I think Grian is good at hosting charity streams. I’ve watched his Love Tropics stream with Iskall (2019?), the first SOS Africa stream with Ren (2020), the MCC 9 stream (2020), and the second SOS Africa stream with Ren, Bdubs, and Scar (2021). Throughout the streams, Grian is consistently respectful and humble. He urges his viewers to donate by patiently talking about the cause in simple terms (since he knows a lot of kids watch him) but without being patronising. Grian also loves putting numbers into things people can measure (eg. How many hot meals can this sum of money buy, if everyone watching right now donated $1 we can reach our goal). Grian also knows his privilege and mentions he’s just a well off guy playing video games in a comfortable place. When Ren thanked him for supporting his fellow South Africans, Grian replied with “we’re all human”. So I believe Grian will spend a lot of his MCCP stream urging viewers to donate, reading out donations, appreciating donations, etc etc. Grian knows his influence and knows how to use it for good. Someone on Twitter mentioned Grian seemed like the type of person to skip this MCC to give more slots for other creators, and I agreed, but then Grian probably thought he could use his influence for good (considering he had MAJOR success for all his past charity streams).

So all in all, I do think this team can raise a lot of money for a good cause. I am okay with this team. But personally I still have some slight issues that probably don’t matter much, but I need to get them out because it’s been eating me alive. All of these so-called “issues” have to do with fanbases, not CCs. Just because I don’t like part of a CCs’ fanbase doesn’t mean I don’t like the CC.

1. This team will probably intensify the “Grian Is The Only Hermit” phenomenon.

A lot of famous CCs only seem to know Grian out of everybody in Hermitcraft (despite False being in every MCC since debut except the non canon ones). They are somewhat akin to the “Grian Only Hermitcraft Watchers”/ “Grumbo YouTube Stan Army”. There’s nothing wrong with knowing Grian only, or only watching Grian, but most of the times the gigantic population of “Grian Only Stans” will neglect Literally Every Other Hermit (except maybe Mumbo). Even when Grian teams with hermits. Hermitcraft fans are mostly used to this bullshit, and they just nicely try to introduce Grian Only Stans to other hermits (which works most of the time).

So to Techno and Wilbur’s fans (I assume Jimmy’s fans are quite familiar with Grian), they’ll go “omg Grian!! Builder!!! Hermitcrafter!!”. This will introduce a bunch of people to Grian/ Hermitcraft (which is great!) but it has a good chance of evolving into the good ole “Grian is the only hermit that matters” thing. Simply because of popularity.

I actually wanted False-Grian-Techno-Wilbur, because Techno and Wilbur actually know False. Techno of course acknowledged her in Dodgebolt, and False and Wilbur have a surprisingly long history of trolling/ annoying each other (from MCC5-9). Wilbur notably trolled Yellow8 and Blue9 by covering up the letters on their uniforms (both hermit teams WITHOUT GRIAN), and when Grian ignored Wilbur around MCC7 Battle Box, Wilbur chose to annoy False instead. False in return seems to notice Wilbur a tiny bit more than general MCC participants (another one she notices is Fundy), such as being amused/annoyed when he overtakes her in Ace Race and gleefully cheering when Wilbur falls.

False is probably the hermit/ hermit adjacent sans Mr Golden Boi Grian with the most “connections” to SBI, Techno and Wilbur know her (Techno forgot about her in MCC 11 but whatever), and she can deal with the three clout people. Which brings me to the next point.

2. Jimmy Solidarity my beloved…

Naturally, Jimmy has already been neglected because he’s the only one who doesn’t have a lot of “clout”. This is different from the last megaclout team Pink8, because Michael and Burren could “lack clout” together. This time, Jimmy doesn’t have anyone with a similar popularity with him. Red10 made me a little more concerned (viewers have pointed out he seems a little bit neglected by the rest of his teammates, especially during DB when they were shittalking Jimmy’s friends).

CCs wise, they will probably/ hopefully be nice and kind (I say hopefully because I cannot trust anyone from DSMP other than HBomb), everyone will get along, no one will be excluded, everyone is happy.

The toxic fans will probably be rabid towards Jimmy (by extension Grian) if they make even a slight mistake, which is why I’m worried about putting a small/medium sized creator with the BIG BIG creators. But, eh. Toxic people will be toxic no matter what. This isn’t an issue exclusive to Pink Parrots.

3. Clashing attitudes?

Hermits and their friends advocate arrow split. Techno does not. What will happen if this team gets to Dodgebolt? Previously, Grian has always been on “arrow split” teams and greatly enjoyed them. Scott has taken care to put people with similar attitudes together. Now what? I have hope that they’re all mature and can compromise, but eh. Grian is strongly against arrow funnelling and calls it not-gentlemanly. I feel Techno will probably let Grian have a few shots since this is a for fun MCC, but what if they get teamed again for some competitive MCC? They’ll probably work it out, but what might their fanbases think?

To conclude, big fanbases = big benefits + big problems. This is not exclusive to Pink Parrots. In fact, I think this is probably the best mix of builders and clout people for this scenario (I personally do not want to see False-Puffy or Ren-Dream). Techno and Wilbur’s fanbases are already the nicer part of the DSMP fanbase.

The most important part is raising money of course, and the silly “issues” I mentioned above don’t mean anything in comparison. Why care about online matters when the money can help people in the real world?

That being sad, I was just a tiny bit salty and I had to get this out. Nonetheless I’m happy about this team, will definitely be interesting (selfishly hope they don’t win because Twitter will be mad a team of cishets won). Anyways, if you’ve read up to here, thank you for reading my ramblings.

A biography

Act 1. “Draw the Curtains!”

Maria Lea Carmen Imutan Salonga or more famously known as simply “Lea Salonga” was born on the 22nd of February, 1971 in Ermita, Manila. She was born to her father, Feliciano Genuino Salonga and her mother Ligaya Alcantara Imutan and became a sister to her brother, Gerard Salonga. Mr. Feliciano was a naval rear admiral and a shipping company owner. For her first six years in life, she lived in Angeles City before moving to Manila. She was a kid who loved to sing with dreams bigger than the Earth itself.

Her childhood was already part of the opening act of her life’s play as at the early age of seven, she made her professional debut in the musical “The King and I” in 1978 with Repertory Philippines. A Filipino theater company. After “The King in I”, she managed to secure the title role in her next play “Annie” and acted in the play in 1980. By the age of 10, she was able to record her first album “Small voice” in 1981 and it was well received by the masses as it was certified gold here in the Philippines. She also made left and right appearances in various plays such as “The Fantasticks” and “Paper moon” from 1988 and 1983 respectively. Her early childhood was full of acting and theater as that’s what she loved doing. She was a performer at heart.

Throughout the 1980s, Lea Salonga was steadily gaining popularity as she was featured in many television projects from GMA radio television arts. She was a child actress at the time and following her first album’s success, she was given an opportunity to host her own television show and this was named “Love, Lea”. Lea also made appearances as a member of the cast for a teen variety show “That’s entertainment” hosted by the late German Moreno. Because of her amazing acting skills and innate talent for it, Lea received multiple awards from FAMAS (Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences) and Aliw awards. The latter awarded her three times for three consecutive years for being the “Best Child Performer” of 1980, 1981, and 1982. Talk about consistency! 

By 1988, Lea released her second album simply entitled “Lea” and in that same year, she finished her High School Education) at O.B. Montessori Center located at Greenhills, San Juan, Metro Manila. Lea also attended an extension program by the University of the Philippines College of Music that trains musically talented children and teens in Music and stage acting.

Act 2. “The Opening Act”

At the age of 17 years old, Lea auditioned for the role of the main character in the play “Miss Saigon” named “Kim”. In her audition, Lea chose to sing “Boublil” and “On my Own” by Claude-Michel Schonberg from the play “Les Miserables”. Because of her amazing singing ability, she was asked by the audition panel to sing “Sun and Moon” which impressed them. At the age of 18 in 1989, Lea was picked to play the role of Kim in Miss Saigon’s debut production held in London.

Lea Salonga was able to win the “Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical” in 1990 because of her successful performance as Kim in Miss Saigon. This made her one of the world’s youngest winners of the award which was a feat on its own. Also in the same year, she performed a homecoming concert in Manila named “A Miss Called Lea. In the following year, Lea won multiple awards from Theater World, Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk from playing the same role in Miss Saigon’s play on Broadway. In the 1992 Disney animated film “Aladdin”, Lea became the singing voice for our beloved Princess Jasmine. In 1993, she achieved yet another feat of becoming the first ever woman of Asian descent to be awarded a “Tony Award”. 

Act 3. “To The Center Stage!”

 “Les Miserables” has been one of the most well known plays worldwide and in 1993, for the broadway production of the play, Salonga played the role of “Eponine”, the daughter of the Thenardiers. When the 65th Annual Academy Awards happened in Los Angeles in the same year, Lea performed as Jasmine in the song “A Whole New World” along with Brad Kane. In the awards show, the song won a deserving, Golden Globe Award! With the help of Atlantic Records, Lea was able to release her self-titled international debut album. In 1994, she was able to partake in multiple musical theater plays in the countries Singapore and Philippines. She took the roles of the witch in “Into the Woods” and Sandy in “Grease” to mention. 

By 1995, Lea Salonga went back to the US to bring to life the role of an 18-year-old Vietnamese American adopted child named “Geri Riordan” in the television film “Redwood Curtain”. She proved herself to be still a busy woman as at the same year, she went back to the Philippines to act in the film “Sana Maulit Muli” along with Ariel Aquino Mulach or more famously known as Aga Mulach. Through this film, she was able to get her second FAMAS nomination as “Best Actress”. 1995 was also the 10th anniversary of Les Miserables and so, Lea flew all the way back to London to play Eponine in “Les Miserables: The dream cast concert” held at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall.

1997 was the year when Lea Salonga started making recordings and she started that off with her album entitled “I’d like to teach the world sing”. This album was well received by the Filipino people as the album reached gold sales in the Philippines. This album was then followed by the 1998 album “Lea…In heart” and the 2000 album “By heart”. These two albums were able to reach Platinum sales multiple times in the Philippines. 

In 1998, she again collaborated with Disney and became the voice of the Disney animated film character “Mulan” and the singing voice of the same character in the film sequel “Mulan II” in 2004. Lea moved to New York City, USA where she purchased her apartment at the age of 28 and owned it until 2013. In the same year, Lea participated and performed at a tribute concert held for Cameron Mackintosh entitled “Hey, Mr. Producer: The musical world of Cameron Mackintosh.” By the years 1999 and 2000, Lea played the role of “Sonia Walsk” in the “They’re playing our song” musical.

Throughout the years of 2000 to 2003, Lea Salonga continued on making multiple appearances in various kinds of platforms from TV shows, musical and nonmusical theaters, and films which led to her appearances in multiple awards shows as well. By the 10th of January, 2004, she married the love of her life Mr. Robert Charles Chien whom she met in “Flower Drum Song”. The same year, she also performed her all-Filipino concerts entitled ”Songs from Home” which made her win the “Entertainer of the year” award from Aliw awards.

Act 4. “The Climax”

2005 was the year when Lea Salonga reached international status as she started to tour the world. She conducted her first US concert tour and in the same year, she managed to perform to a sold-out crowd at Carnegie Hall. Because of her international ventures, Lea was awarded with a “Golden Artist” award from FAMAS. In 2006, she performed for the closing ceremony of the 15th Asian Games held in Doha, Qatar with the song “Triumph of the one” at the Khalifa Stadium.

Lea then proceeded to release her first studio album in 2007 entitled “Inspired” which gained popularity and got platinum sales in the Philippines. She was also awarded by the former president Gloria Arroyo with the “Order of Lakandula” for using her abilities to the benefit of the Philippines and its people. Lea made more appearances on the theater scene with the return of Les Miserables, Broadway on Broadway, Stars in the alley, and more.

By 2008, she became a columnist for the Philippine Daily inquirer. She wrote her column “Introducing: Lea Salonga, writer” and from then on, started writing more and more columns. Lea went on to do singing performances throughout 2009 with her appearance in the 95th anniversary special of Iglesia ni Cristo singing the song “Bayan ko” and the concerts “Lea Salonga…Your songs” for the 20 years of “Miss Saigon”.

Following her singing performances, Lea made an appearance as a celebrity judge for the show “Avon Voices”. Speaking of being a judge, she also became one of the judges to sit on the judges panel of the 60th Miss Universe 2011 held in Sao Paulo, Brazil which happened at the 20th of September, 2011

Lea Salonga continued on making more concert appearances as in 2013, she was part of the Lincoln Center’s American Songbook Concert Series. She also played as a mother in the concert performance of “Ragtime”. In the same year, she started her concert tour in the Philippines “Lea Salonga: Playlist” which was done to celebrate her 35 years of hardwork and dedication in show business. 

By 2014, she went back to making judge appearances to “The Voice” and “The Voice kids”. Throughout 2014, she continued touring around the world with multiple concerts. She made an American television appearance in 2016 with “Crazy-Ex Girlfriend” and another for the international premiere of “Fun Home” as Helen Bechdel in Manila.

Act 5. “The Curtain Call”

Lea Salonga’s career has been going smoothly even until the present. With her steady amount of appearances in the theater scene for the past 4 years, it proves that Lea has made her mark in the theater scene as a whole which she worked hard for since age seven. She’s currently living with her family and has a daughter named Nicole Chien. This year, Lea is planning to embark on another world tour on the 6th of April, 2022 entitled “Dream Again” which will start in North America. 

To many theater kids, Lea Salonga is one of the many theater actors and actresses that these kids can look up to. She’s the perfect example of one who’s passionate about their dreams whatever it may be. Once a small town girl, now one of the big names of show business, Lea Salonga is a woman of passion, pure talent, and dedication to her craft. A true performer.
