#dear sweet fuck this guy in my program is like the canonical version of a development economist#well intentioned white dude who comes across smarmy af and like he is spiritually wearing a bow tie at all times#and like I'm sure he will get a prestigious academic job. the paper seems good enough. but he's so obnoxious in seminars#like one of those guys who just loves the sound of his own voice#and gives off the vibe that he does not listen to anyone#including the people in the country he studies#like i hope i am wrong but his vibes are just big white savior/performative ally energy#dispatches from grad school
