Writing Your Story: Chap. 15 - Time Of Our Lives
Tumblr media
Summary: Sam, Dean and Castiel gather after Raelyn’s death to remember her as she had wished for them too. Each of them taking turns reading their letters from her. Months later, Dean receives a copy of Raelyn’s last Supernatural book from her agent. Characters: Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, Castiel and Raelyn Nichols (OFC) Pairing: Dean X Raelyn (OFC) Warnings: Angst Word Count: 2867 A/N: *dodges objects being thrown at her* I know quite a few of your are upset about Chapter 14. It is where the story led me to write. I hated writing it as much as you all hated reading it. We have only ONE CHAPTER left where I am hoping you all will enjoy the ending because I wrote it on a whim after writing this chapter. The song is “Time Of Our Lives” by Tyrone Wells and the lyrics are in bold. I highly suggest you listen to the song because it’s great. This chapter will be equally as hard for you as the last and I am sorry.  As always this is unbeta so all mistakes are mine. Likes, comments and reblogs are splendid and I will love you doubly for them! Enjoy!
Catch Up Here: Writing Your Story Masterlist
Sam and Castiel stood outside Raelyn’s bedroom looking in on Dean sitting on her bed. “What do we do for him?” Castiel asked. Sam shook his head, “The only we can, Cas. Give him time.” Sam pushed Castiel gently towards the library leaving Dean in her room. It had been three days since he held Raelyn for the last time. Three days since she took her last breath. Thinking about her lying in his arms, lifeless, brought fresh tears to his eyes. Dean had hardly left the bunker or her room since she died. He had not said a word to anyone but slept in her bed and looked at the pictures she had taken during their weekend trip. Each picture she had a brilliant smile on her face that made his heart skip a beat. A smile he would only see in pictures now and never in person. Dean wiped his eyes when he heard a knock on the door frame.
Sam walked in, “It’s Eric, he says it’s important.” Dean cleared his throat and took the phone from Sam, “Yeah.” Eric voice was sullen, “Hello Dean. I’m sorry for your loss.” Dean gritted his teeth trying to keep his anger at bay. “Thank you. What can I do for you?” Eric explained that a few days before Raelyn had died she sent her Will and Last Testament to a lawyer in Chicago. Raelyn had named Eric the Executor of it. “Dean, could I meet you in Lebanon tomorrow to give you what Raelyn left you in her Will?” Dean swallowed the lump in his throat. “Sure, Eric there is a diner called Jiffy Burger. Meet there at noon tomorrow.” Eric agreed and their call ended. “Everything okay?” Sam asked. “Apparently, Raelyn sent her Will and Last Testament a few days before she died. Eric is the Executor and has something that Raelyn left me. I’m meeting him tomorrow.” Dean said grabbing the bottle of whiskey off her nightstand. “Do you want me to go with you?” Sam gave Dean a sympathetic look as he hardened his expression, “No.” He went back to looking at the pictures in his lap as Sam silently walked out.
As soon as Dean walked into the diner memories of Raelyn flooded his mind. He saw Eric sitting at a table with a laptop bag. “Eric.” Dean said shaking his hand. Their waiter took their order both only ordering a drink and Eric pulled out a stack of papers. “Raelyn requested that you make all decisions concerning her burial. She left you specific instructions in this envelope.” Dean took the envelope seeing his name in her handwriting. “Next, she is transferring all her royalty deposits in this account for you. I have a copy of her death certificate so you can take over ownership of it. Since Wayward Sisters just came out and with Raelyn’s death we’re imagining that book sales will be higher than ever before. You should expect around $6000 for royalties.” Dean’s eyed slightly bugged out, “I don’t even care about the money. You know that, right?” Dean said as Eric nodded. “Yes, we would all rather have her than not, especially me.” Dean knew Eric and Raelyn were close friends and the fact that no one knew the truth of what happened to her was killing Dean.
“There are a few papers I need you to sign concerning the royalties before I leave today. Finally,” Eric pulled out three hardcover books, “these are for you, Sam and Cas. I’m hoping you know who those guys are.” Dean nodded taking the books in his hands. “This was her last manuscript submitted right after her trip to Santa Cruz. She wanted you three to have the first three copies off the printer. There are three extra pages at the end of the book that she requested for your copies only.” Dean ran his hand over the cover as tears came to his eyes. The title of her book was, ‘Time of Our Lives’ the same title of their song. “It’s a beautiful book and is going to be release on Raelyn’s birthday this upcoming December. We are also releasing a press statement concerning her death at the end of this week. Morgan is holding a memorial service as well in Chicago.” Dean nodded looking up. “I know she called me about it. I don’t know…” Eric nodded as he knew how Dean felt. “Once you sign these papers then we are all finished.” Dean signed what Eric needed and they walked out together.
Sam and Castiel were waiting for Dean when he came back to the bunker. “How did it go?” Sam asked as Dean set everything Eric gave him down on the table. “Fine. I have to go to a bank next week to transfer ownership of an account Raelyn set up for us. She transferred all the Supernatural royalties over to us.” Sam sat there in shock and then chuckled. Dean looked at him perplexed, “Why are you laughing?” Sam stopped seeing the pain on Dean’s face. “Even though she’s gone she is still trying to take care of us by giving us honest money.” Dean thought about it and he started to laugh softly along with Sam and Castiel. “Dean, what are the books?” Castiel asked as Dean handed one to each of them. Sam smiled looking down at the book, “Her last manuscript.” Dean nodded and whispered, “The title is the name of our song.” Sam placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. Finally, Dean opened the enveloped for him. He asked for Sam and Castiel to stay as he read it.
“Dear Dean, If you are reading this then my plan was successful and I’m so sorry. During our last night in Santa Cruz, Chuck visited me in my dream. He told me the only way for Raymond to be killed is if I died as well. I guess because of our Supernatural blood the whole twin connection was amplified. One could not live without the other. I knew you, Sam and Cas would not let me go through with it so I had to leave you all with no goodbyes. I never wanted to hurt any of you and I’m so sorry I did.
You should have received a copy of my book. Please read the dedication and letters in the book during my funeral. I would also like you to play our song in the background. I want you to give me a hunter’s funeral. When you burn my body also burn my laptop because if I was going to be attached to any item it would be that. I backed up everything to my external hard drive in my room. I know I wasn’t a hunter but I don’t want to take any chances of being stuck as a ghost. My body should still be at the morgue and I want you to make the arrangements for it. I want you to burn my body in my favorite field where we looked up at the stars. For the love of Chuck do not burn the whole field down.
I know this will be hard on you. You have never dealt with loss well. Promise me, you won’t drink yourself into a pit or make any rash decisions. I did this so the people I loved the most were going to be safe. No matter what, this was how it had to end. Dean, the months we spent together have been the best of my life. Our weekend together in Santa Cruz is my heaven and I’ll be waiting for you in our hotel room. Just don’t come too soon because you still have work to do. I love you, Dean Winchester. Love, Raelyn PS: Tell Sam and Cas that I love them too.”
Dean looked up at Sam and Castiel who both had tears in their eyes. That is when Dean’s dam burst opened. He held onto the letter weeping openly in front of his little brother and best friend. He had lost a lot of people in his life and the pain he would feel he was always able to deal with. Losing Raelyn, his soulmate, was like losing part of his heart or air to breath. Now he knew what his father had felt when their mom had died. The anguish he felt and having no support to lean on but his bitterness for revenge. He felt Sam’s long arm around his shoulder and Castiel was standing behind him with his hand gripping his arm. In that moment, he was thankful for having people around him who he could rely on to help him through this. Dean composed himself and looked up at Sam and Castiel, “I don’t think I can go to the morgue and…” Dean could not finish the sentence. “Do not worry. I will go and take care of everything.” Castiel said as Dean nodded his thanks.
Two days later, Dean, Sam and Castiel traveled to Raelyn’s favorite field just as the sun was setting. Dean and Sam gathered wood piling all along a platform they had constructed. Castiel was given the task to make sure the fire would not spread any further than the pit they were creating. As they placed the last few pieces of wood in place Dean’s stomach started to churn. He took a moment, standing by the Impala, to collect himself.
A warm breeze whipped around him and suddenly he felt a wave of calm flow over him. He looked up at the sky the first few stars starting to shine bright and he could not help but think of Raelyn. “Dean, we’re ready.” Sam said as he nodded. Dean opened the back door of the Impala where Raelyn’s body was wrapped in a white sheet. Sam helped him getting her out of the back seat and then Dean carried her to the pit platform. Tears slipped down his face as he laid her down. The three of them stood together each throwing a burning branch onto the pit watching the fire spread quickly all the way around. Dean pulled out her book as Sam started playing their song through her Bluetooth speaker.
This is where the chapter ends A new one now begins Time has come for letting go The hardest part is when you know All of these years, when we were here Are ending, but I'll always remember We have had the time of our lives Now the page is turned The stories we will write We have had the time of our lives
“This book is dedicated to three special men in my life. To show them that they can have their pie and eat it too. To my angel friend who guarded me from harm. My unofficial big brother, who was always my sounding board. Always there with advice and support. Finally, to my pretty boy, you are my everything and I love you.” Dean read out loud and then passed the book over to Castiel. He flipped to the back of the book where his letter and a picture of the two of them was.
And I will not forget The faces left behind It's hard to walk away From the best of days But if it has to end I'm glad you have been my friend In the time of our lives
“Cas, what can I say dear friend. Our friendship started off rocky, but in the end, you became one of my best friends. My favorite memory is when we met at our favorite diner in Chicago. You had just come back from the Big Empty and I couldn’t believe it was you. You told me that you annoyed a Cosmic Entity to come back to Earth. I remember thinking in that moment that not only were we the perfect friends but how much I took you for granted. From that point forward, I made more of an effort to be a better friend to you. I’m sorry I took you for granted and don’t let them do what I did. Be your quirky, lovable self and please for the love of Chuck, watch some movie with Dean and read a book Sam recommends to you. You have to keep up with your pop culture references. Stop by and see me some time. I will have a beach chair there for you. Oh and Cas, keep your eye on Dean. Keep him safe from others and especially himself.” Castiel passed the book to Sam who flipped the page to his letter and a picture of him and Raelyn in the library.
I'm glad you have been my friend In the time of our lives We say goodbye We hold on tight To these memories That never die
“Sammy, you finally got to be a big brother to someone even if you didn’t realize it. You are an amazing big brother. You are extremely protective, loving and supportive to those around you. Sure, you can be stubborn at times but I think that’s just comes with the last name. Sam, don’t think that you can’t have a life and hunt as well. There is no either or for you or your brother. Saving people, hunting things, the family business also includes your life. Don’t be afraid to fall in love. Don’t be afraid to live your life. You are going to lose people close to you, but let those losses give you strength to love others just as those who are gone loved you. Sam, stay close to Dean. Don’t allow him to push you away. Rely on each other in this hard time. You are the glue that will keep the three of you together. I love you, big brother.” Sam wiped away the tears coming down his cheeks with the back of his sleeve. He handed the book to Dean. He gazed at the fire for a few moments before flipping the page to his letter. He saw a few pictures of him and Raelyn together from Santa Cruz. Taking a deep breath he read his letter.
Where the water meets the land There is shifting in the sand Like the tide that ebbs and flows Memories will come and go All of these years When we were here Are ending But I'll always remember We have had the time of our lives
“Hi pretty boy. From the moment I began writing the Supernatural books I knew you would impact my life the most. I felt connected to you even when you were just a character in my favorite book series. I would have never believed that I was meant to be with a man who is as strong, brave and hot as you are. I always felt I was never going to be good enough for you. You deserved a woman who was fearless, who was strong, who could turn heads when she walked into a room. I never believed I was that woman until you. You showed me how strong I am. You showed me how fearless I am. You showed me how the only head that matter to turn and look at me was yours. You took every insecurity, every insult, every bad moment from my past and washed them away with your love for me.
Dean, I know you blame yourself. It is because of you I had the strength to save all my loved ones and there are not enough ways to say thank you for that. You protected me, taught me, loved me until the very end. Now, for the hard part. You and I are soulmates. We were meant to be with each other, but there was never a certain length of time set for it. Don’t wallow in your grief. Lean on Sam and Cas. Allow yourself to cry, but also allow yourself to laugh. Most of all, allow yourself to love again. You have so much love pent up inside of you that you have to let it out on someone.
I will always love you and I know you will always love me, but don’t let the memory of me hold you back. Just like I told Sam, you can have a life and hunt. You would be doing the world a disservice with the Winchester name did not get passed on to the next generation of hunters. Remember, I’ll be waiting for you in Santa Cruz. I love you so much, Dean Winchester.” Dean closed the book holding it to his chest. He wept quietly as Sam pulled him and Cas together under his arms. The three of them stood there listening to Raelyn’s song until the fire started to die out and the stars were shining bright.
We have had the time of our lives Now the page is turned The stories we will write We have had the time of our lives And I will not forget The faces left behind It's hard to walk away From the best of days But if it has to end I'm glad you have been my friend In the time of our lives

Writing Your Story: Chap. 1 - Took You Long Enough
Tumblr media
Summary: When Raelyn Nichols was approached to continue writing the Supernatural series she never knew how her world would one-day flip completely upside down when she meets the characters from her books the famous Winchester Brothers. Characters: Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, Castiel and Raelyn Nichols (OFC) Pairing: Dean X Raelyn (OFC) Warnings: All the fluff. Word Count: 2621 A/N: Alright ladies and gents, here is the first chapter of my first ever series! I’m incredibly excited and scared pantless. If you find any mistakes please let me know, since I edited this chapter roughly around 2AM EST. I will be updating this series weekly probably on Saturday. Let me any thoughts and opinions you have on this including constructive criticism (all hate can be deposited into your local trash can). Above all, thank you for reading what I write and for all the support. Tagging A Few Lovelies Who Inspire Me To Keep Writing: @waywardbaby @rosethesupernaturalhunter @carryonmywaywardcaptain @anotherwaywardsister @ladywinchester1967
Raelyn Nichols smiled as a mom took a picture of her daughter with her. “Thank you, Miss Nichols.” The little girl said. Raelyn smiled sweetly at her, “You’re welcome.” Raelyn sighed as she sat back down behind her booth. Raelyn’s rise to stardom was unusual and no one knew the true story except for Raelyn, a special angel friend and Chuck Shirley, as known as, God. Chuck was a fan of Raelyn’s novels and asked her to continue writing his series Supernatural. At first, Raelyn, thought it was a joke but once Chuck revealed his true identity who could say no to God. The last three years, she had been cranking out books every six to eight months. Now she did book events along with comic conventions taking pictures and signing autographs.
“Raelyn Nichols?” Raelyn looked up from her phone into the stunning olive-green eyes of the gorgeous man from her dreams. She smiled at him, “Dean Winchester, took you long enough to find me.” He looked at her dumbfounded as his younger brother came up behind him. “Ah, Sam Winchester. Well, now that the Scooby gang is all here I’m assuming you found out that I am writing Supernatural. Can this conversation wait until after the convention? I am kind of working here.” Sam looked to Dean just as dumbfounded. “How do you know about us? Our lives?” Dean’s voice was stern and husky. His voice was just as Raelyn had dreamed it would be.
“Look, I promise I will explain everything to you pretty boy. I’m not running or going anywhere. Here,” Raelyn handed them all access passes, that had been meant for her best friend and her boyfriend, to the convention, “you can go anywhere within the convention. There is quite the spread of food back in reception if you both are hungry.” Dean perked up a bit as Sam looked over to him rolling his eyes. “You will meet us in the reception area as soon as you’re done.” Sam said as Raelyn looked behind the taller Winchester. A line was forming behind them, “Yes, I’m not going anywhere. Chuck told me one day you would find me. That day is today. Now go before my line gets any longer.” The brothers looked behind them seeing quite a few people dressed as them and with Supernatural books in their hands.
Sam and Dean stepped to the side and watched Raelyn as she talked with fans, signed books and took pictures. Sam decided to go walk around the convention since he had never been to one before and saw a few Star Wars actors he would love to meet. Dean couldn’t bring himself to move from Raelyn’s booth. There was something about her that instantly drew him into her. She was beautiful which is obviously what caught his attention first. She had long wavy chocolate brown hair, tall curvy body and porcelain skin. The two features that made Dean weak in the knees were her brilliant forest green eyes that bore into him like no one ever had before and her soft full rosy lips just begging to be kissed.
He watched her interact with fans as she would smile for pictures and even posing ridiculously with some of them. She glanced over to him and motioned for him to come over behind the booth. She pulled out a stool from under her table and patted it. “Sit. I’d rather you sit here and chat than stand there and stare.” He chuckled as he sat next to her. Another fan came up, “Wow he looks just like Dean in the books. That is exactly how I pictured him.” Raelyn laughed as Dean shifted uncomfortably. “I know, me too, that is why I picked him as the winner of a local contest. He won the chance to be with me all day. He’s one of my biggest fans.” Dean gave her a pointed looked as the teenage girl looked to him with admiration. “Wow, you’re so lucky. Would it be okay to get a picture with the both of you?” Dean started to shake his head but Raelyn tugged on his jacket. “Of course, you can, Robert here would be honored to take a picture with you.” Raelyn dragged him in front of the table and the fan stood in between them. Emma, convention worker assigned to Raelyn, took the picture and the fan hugged them both before walking away. Dean was chuckling as they sat back down and no one was at Raelyn’s booth. “So, how long are you usually here at these conventions?” Raelyn looked at her phone, “I’m usually here for three days, Friday thru Sunday, all day. I’ve got another hour or so before I can pack up. A lot of fans are starting to leave now so I may be able to leave early. Why? You got a hot date?” Dean smirked, “Yeah, I do. I have a date with a good-looking author who knows more about me than I do her.”
Raelyn felt her cheeks burning. “Why Dean Winchester are you flirting with me?” She looked at him above her black rimmed glasses. She watched as a devious smirk came across his handsome face. Seeing Dean Winchester in her dreams or visions was one thing but him in person was a whole another story. His sandy brown hair looked soft and his broad muscular body was hidden under layers of denim, cotton and flannel. She watched as he ran his large hands over his muscular thighs driving her crazy. However, it was his eyes, his olive-green steal your soul eyes, that made her lose all train of thought. He noticed her sizing him up and his smirked turned into a smile. She was staring at his lips now as he ran his tongue over the bottom one trapping it under his teeth. Her eyes got wide and he saw her breath hitch. “What if I am, Raelyn? Is that okay with you?” he asked as she fidgeted with her hair twirling it between her fingers. “I wouldn’t hate it, but I’m not really your type.” Dean looked down at his hands nervously quickly being reminded why he was there next to her in the first place. “You really do know everything about us, huh? Every thought or feeling we have?” Raelyn sighed, “I can’t read your mind if that is what you’re asking. But yeah, I know pretty much everything about you two. Including that you tend to go after ladies who a few sizes smaller than I am and wear more provocative clothing.” Dean’s smile faded as he ran his hand through his hair. “Yeah, I’m not really a great guy when it comes to having something more than a one-night stand.” Raelyn looked at him about to say something when he spoke again, “Probably best if you just stayed away from me, Raelyn.” He got up walking away from her table. Raelyn sighed as another fan approached her. Raelyn finished up the last few autographs and pictures then she packed up her personal items walking towards reception.
Raelyn found the brothers sitting at a table waiting for her. Sam was holding a few pictures that were autographed as Dean was giving him a disapproving look. She walked up to them, “Come on. We can go back to my place and talk. It’s warded against… well everything so it’s safe there.” Sam and Dean followed her outside where it had started to rain. “Well, where’s your beautiful Impala at? I don’t feel like walking in the rain even if it is only a few blocks.” Dean pointed across the street and she smiled seeing the car. “Oh Baby, you are more than I could have ever dreamed.” She said admiring the car. Dean could not help the smile on his face as she admired his pride and joy. “She’s unlocked.” He stated simply as they all got in. As he drove down the street, Raelyn was humming her praises to his Baby. Her humming was driving him crazy. Sam turned to her, “Do you need a moment alone with the Impala?” Raelyn looked up at Dean through the rearview mirror, “Sure, just park it and leave it running. I’ll be done in ten minutes.” She laughed as she watched both men’s shocked expressions and subtly smile on Dean’s face. She directed them to her condo and lead them up to it. She sat down her bag and curiously watched Sam and Dean look around her home. “You have quite the collection of comics and memorabilia.” Sam said in awe as he looked over her collectables. “Thank you, I am quite the nerd. So, please make yourselves comfort.” Raelyn went into her kitchen to grab a couple beers from her fridge for Sam and Dean. She also grabbed a bottle of whiskey and a glass for herself. She walked back into her living room seeing the boys had taken off their jackets and were sitting on her couch. She handed them the beers and then sat in her favorite chair pouring herself a drink.
“Before we get this started we need one more person to join us.” She picked up her phone and sent a text message. A couple of minutes later, there was a knock on her door. “Come on in!” Raelyn shouted. A tall man came walking in with dark brown hair and blue eyes like the ocean wearing a trench coat. “Cas?!” The brothers said at the same time as Raelyn chuckled loving it when they spoke in unison. The beautiful angel nodded as he sat on the couch next to Dean. “You two know each other?” Dean asked looking pointedly at Cas. “Yes, Dean I was asked to watch over her when Chuck left. How did you two find out about Raelyn?” he asked as Dean scoffed. “Claire found her books online and then passed it along to us. Better question is why didn’t you tell us about this?” Sam asked. Raelyn poured herself another drink as Dean whispered over to her, “You got another glass?” She snickered getting up and getting him one.
In the kitchen she could still hear all of them talking. As she walked back out she poured Dean a drink and then shut them all up, “Alright! Let’s just get this over with.” The three men looked up at her and nodded. Dean downed his drink and quickly refilled it. “Start from the beginning, Raelyn.” Sam stated as she settled into her chair. “I knew Carver Edlund or Chuck Shirley from different conventions and our agents were from the same company. Anytime we would talk he would mention how he loved my novels and I equally loved his.” She paused for a moment taking a drink. “A few years ago, he showed up here and asked if we could talk. He explained he was leaving for a while and would love it if I would continue writing Supernatural. Of course, being a huge fan, I agreed and he had all the rights transferred to me. That is when he told me the truth about the books.” Raelyn poured another drink for Dean when he finished the second one. “He was God, the books were real life events, Sam and Dean Winchester were real brothers saving people and hunting things.”
Sam scoffed, “What made you believe him?” Raelyn chuckled thinking back on the day that changed her life forever. “He touched my forehead and suddenly I saw everything that had happened in the books. I saw your lives from the day you were born. He showed me his true face bright light and all. He told me that I would have dreams of what I needed to write. Kind of like Sam’s premonitions but not as painful and no psychic powers.” She noticed Sam flinch and Dean gave him a weary look. “Look, I didn’t ask to have all of this. I thought I would just be writing a series of books based off his notes not the real-life tales of ghostbusting. I know I wouldn’t want someone knowing my entire life story and airing it out to the world.” Dean turned towards her, “Then why do you continue to write the books?” She sighed finishing her drink and setting the glass down. “The main reason is because God… literal God told me too. I think it’s important to follow what he says, don’t you think? Also, your story brings a lot of hope and inspiration into millions of lives who believe they are hopeless and meaningless to this world. I believe if my books or your story can impact one person’s life then it is worth continuing to tell the story.”
“How did you meet Cas then?” Castiel smirked slightly as she chuckled, “It was a rough start. At conventions I have some enthusiastic fans which Cas thought were trying to harm me. First time, I ever saw him, he ran off a bunch of fans that were cosplaying as demons.” Castiel shrugged slightly, “I followed Raelyn for weeks before then. I believed she was in danger and did not know humans would dress up for fun as demons.” Sam and Dean started laughing. Raelyn loved seeing them laugh since most of the time she only witnessed them fighting or hurt in her dreams. “Are you working on a new book now?” Sam asked as he finished his beer. Raelyn looked from one brother to the next and shook her head, “Not currently. I am just promoting the current book ‘Tombstone’ which was a bitch to get titled since there’s a movie titled that as well.” Raelyn nervously looked up at the three men to see if they bought her lie. Castiel was the only one looking at her curiously but Sam and Dean took her word for it. “So, now what?” she asked. Dean stood up stretching his tall, muscular body. Raelyn bit her bottom lip admiring the way his muscles contracted as he moved his arms above his head.
“Now, we leave our numbers for you and if you have any more dreams then you call us.” Dean took out a piece of paper from a journal he kept in his jacket pocket. He wrote his and Sam’s numbers down handing it to her. Briefly, their fingers touched and she felt an electric current run up her arm. A wonderful chill ran down her back and looking up she could see he had felt it as well. His eyes wide and darken as he gazed down at her. He opened his mouth to say something but simply trapped his tongue between his teeth driving Raelyn crazy. She shook her head slightly as Sam cleared his throat, “Alright, well we should get going.” Raelyn followed the brothers to her door waving goodbye and closing it once they were down the hall. She took a deep breath in and slowly released it as she leaned up against the door. “Raelyn, why did you not tell them about writing a new book?” Castiel asked as she cleaned up the boys’ bottles and glass. “No one should know too much about their own future especially the Winchesters.” She looked sternly at her angel friend, “You won’t tell them about it as well. You know how they will react and there is no need to add fuel to the fire.” Castiel nodded apprehensively. “Good, now pop out here so I can take a shower, write and go to bed.” With a whooshing sounding Castiel was gone and Raelyn settled herself at her desk. She powered on her laptop and pulled up her newest manuscript entitled, “Wayward Sisters”.

Writing Your Story: Chap. 14 - One Without The Other
Tumblr media
Summary: Raelyn has a dream of how to kill Raymond and she devises a plan to end things once and for all. After spending an amazing weekend with Dean she finishes her manuscript dedicated to the Winchesters and Castiel then emails it to her agent. All that’s left for her is to figure out a way to carry out her plan without Sam, Dean and Castiel stopping her from what she has to do. Characters: Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, Castiel and Raelyn Nichols (OFC) Pairing: Dean X Raelyn (OFC) Warnings: Angst/Slight Fluff Word Count: 3020 A/N: *takes deep breath* Okay, this is a big chapter and even thinking about it has me tearing up. This chapter and the next were the hardest to write. I was constantly having to stop and take a moment to get over my own emotions under control. Remember there are still two chapters left after this one to read. As hard as it will be for you to read it was hard for me to write. Italicized parts are Raelyn’s dream. As always this is unbeta so all mistakes are mine. Likes, comments and reblogs are splendid and I will love you doubly for them! Enjoy!
Raelyn looked out at the ocean from her beach chair. The sounds of the waves relaxing her body. All around her were families enjoying the perfect Santa Cruz weather. A shadow enveloped her and she looked up to see who it was. “Chuck?” she asked uncertainly. He snapped his fingers and another beach chair appeared next to her. “Hi Raelyn, mind if I join you?” He took a seat and slipped on a pair of sunglasses. Still in disbelief she looked over at him as he took a drink from a fruity looking drink with a colorful umbrella in it. “I’m dreaming, aren’t I?” Chuck nodded at her, “Yes. Though I have to say this is much better than the dreams you have been getting.” She scoffed, “No kidding, you think? Did you know about Raymond?” Chuck set his drink down and remained silent. “Chuck?!” He nodded slowly. “Yes, I knew about Raymond. He is the reason I am here. Raelyn, you’re the only one who can kill him.”
Raelyn’s eyes snapped opened. She looked around to see she was still the hotel in Santa Cruz. She looked over to see Dean sleeping peacefully and tears sprung to her eyes. He bare chest was rising and falling in even deep breaths. His hair was extra wild from their love making the night before which brought a smile onto her face thinking about it. After a few more moments of watching him sleep she grabbed his button-down shirt putting it on and slipping quietly out of bed. She made a call for breakfast to be brought up to them. She grabbed her laptop powering it on and bringing up her manuscript. After her dream she felt an urgency to finish her manuscript as soon as possible. She heard Dean stirring just as she was bringing in their breakfast. She grabbed a piece of bacon and went over to the bed. He was leaning against the headboard rubbing the sleep out of his eyes adorably.
“Hey pretty boy. Bacon?” she held a piece for him. He leaned up grabbing the piece with his mouth and pulled her down onto the bed. She was giggling as he hovered over her. “Hmm, that was good but I think I would rather have something else rather than bacon.” He leaned kissing her and she tasted the maple and saltiness from the piece of bacon he ate. “You mean I rate higher than bacon, eggs, pancakes and coffee that is waiting for you?” She heard Dean’s stomach growl as he lifted his lips from her neck. Raelyn chuckled at his conflicted expression but when his stomach growled again she pushed him up off the bed.
“Come on, let’s eat so the food doesn’t get cold.” He helped her off the bed with a pout, “Okay, but I’d much rather being eating…” Raelyn smacked his shoulder as he grabbed her around the waist walking behind her. “Dean Winchester!” He shrugged as they sat down at the little dining table in their room. “What? Just being honest.” He wiggled his eyebrows at her while smirking. She shook her head while laughing as they both began eating their breakfast. “So, what would you like to do today?” Dean asked as they were cuddled up on the couch watching a rerun of Dr. Sexy MD. Raelyn thought back on her dream.
“What do you mean I’m the only one who can kill him?” she asked as Chuck watched a family playing in the sand. “I can see why you love it here. Weather is gorgeous, the view is amazing and happiness everywhere.” Raelyn sighed in frustration as Chuck rambled. She snapped her fingers in front of him grabbing his attention. “Sorry, I don’t mean to be rude or disrespectful to you but we’ve been looking for a way to kill Raymond for months. So, if you know of a way it would be great if you told me.” Chuck smiled at her proudly. “No need to apologize. I guess I am stalling because I want you to enjoy this moment you’re having in this spot. Enjoy the happiness you’re feeling. The love of your soulmate.” Raelyn bit her lip nervously as she felt her cheeks heat up. Chuck began to snicker, “Raelyn, don’t be embarrassed about you and Dean being together. I have been rooting for you two since I created you both.” She looked down at her hands in her lap as Chuck sighed. “Raelyn, I want you to know that even I did not see the full outcome of what is going to happen until now. Part of the reason I created free will was so I could not see every outcome. You know, to keep things interesting.” She chuckled, but noticed his sad look as he stared down at the sand.
“Raelyn? Hello, Raelyn?” Dean was waving his hand in front of her face. She shook her head, “Sorry, I guess I kind of spaced out for a moment.” She smiled up at Dean as he softly laughed. “No kidding, so what do you want to do today? We don’t have to check out until three o’clock.” Raelyn looked around the room and then up at Dean whose attention was on the TV. A new wave of tears flooded her eyes as she watched him laughed. “I think I just want to stay in and relax. Watch bad TV, take a nap, eat room service again.” Dean looked down his eyebrows wrinkling in concerning. “Raelyn, is everything okay?” He asked as he took his thumb wiping the tears running down her cheeks. She sniffled and quickly wiped her eyes, “Yeah, everything is perfect Dean. I’m just happy being here with you.” She slipped her arms around his waist and laid her head on his chest. She felt his chest rumble as he mumbled, “Woman and their crying when they’re happy so confusing.”
For the rest of the day, Raelyn and Dean lounged around their hotel room. While Dean was taking a nap before they started their drive back to the bunker Raelyn worked on the last few chapters of her manuscript. She poured herself another glass of whiskey before hitting save one final time and downed the glass. She powered down her laptop and glanced over to Dean sleeping on the bed. After packing up all their stuff she laid down next to him. She began kissing his chest and he stirred a little. Her lips traveled up to his neck leaving open mouth kisses over it and she smiled as he groaned.
He had not shaved since they left the bunker and his stubble tickled her lips as she kissed his jaw down to his soft full lips. She straddled his hips and looked down as he peeked open his eyes. His large hands roamed over her bare thighs as he smiled up at her. “Something I can do for you sweetheart?” he chuckled as she leaned down kissing him deeply. She pulled back slightly her lips just hovering over his, “Yeah, you can make love to me again.” She looked into his lust filled eyes and his lips came up to hers as he rolled her over onto the bed.
Over the next two days Dean and Raelyn drove back to the bunker only stopping in Utah again to sleep. Dean had set her Bluetooth speaker on the dashboard so Raelyn could spread out across the front seat which she did. She would have her back against Dean’s side as his arm rested across her midsection while he drove with his other hand. His fingers would drum against her stomach to the beat of the music and she would let out a small giggle when he would tickle her.
They were almost to the bunker when their song, as Dean had claimed it to be, came on. She had switched positions at their last pit stop and now had her feet resting on Dean’s lap as she leaned against her door. She looked up when she heard Dean starting to sing their song. “Where the water meets the land. There is shifting in the sand like the tide that ebbs and flows. Memories will come and go, all of these years. When we were here are ending, but I'll always remember.” The lyrics hit Raelyn hard and hearing Dean sing them was overwhelming. Flashes of her dream came to mind as he kept on singing.
“What does this have to deal with Raymond?” She asked Chuck as he turned towards her. “I tried to steer Raymond onto the right path, but somewhere along the way he just fell down the wrong path. I wanted you both to live long lives. To find happiness and love just like all my other children, but Raymond’s path directly effects your path.” Raelyn could not help but notice the guilt in Chuck’s voice. “We’re connected more than just a twin thing, aren’t we?” Chuck nodded, “You two are opposites. He is evil. You are good. His choices of becoming what he has reflect the choices you made to be you.” Raelyn was starting to get a clearer picture of why Chuck was beating around the bush. “You’re saying there can’t be one without the other. I have to kill him because in the end we cancel each other out.” Chuck looked up at her nodding. “In order for Raymond to die you must die too and by each other’s hands.” Raelyn sat back with a heavy sigh.
Sam and Castiel greeted them in the library of the bunker. “Wow, you both look so tanned and relaxed.” Sam commented. She smiled as he hugged her. She excused herself to her room to unpack. She could hear Dean telling them all about their weekend together. As she was finishing unpacking, Castiel came into her room. “I’m sensing something is wrong with you.” Looking down at her laptop she chuckled. “Nothing is wrong Cas, I promise.” He stared at her for a moment and she gave him a big smile. “I’ll join you guys in a moment and show you all the pictures I took in Santa Cruz with the camera you got me.” Castiel smiled giving her quick nod and walking out of her room.
She pulled out her journal with her pictures in it and she looked over the last three entries she wrote. Tears slipped down her cheeks and she quickly regained her composure. Grabbing the pictures, she went back out to the library with a smile on her face. The four of them sat around eating pizza, drinking and laughing all night. Raelyn sat back as Dean laughed at Sam’s cosplay as a Storm Trooper during St. Louis Comic Con. Castiel telling them of his visit with the Wayward Sisters helping them track down more of the creatures that came through the rift from the bad place. She quietly committed this memory in her head knowing that in the next few days everything would change.
The next couple of days Raelyn spent holed up in her room editing her manuscript. Thankfully, Morgan was available to beta read it. Once she received it back from her she sent it to Eric with the strict instructions for it to be printed as is. He was slightly confused on why but he told her that he would do as she wanted. She had also gone into town with Dean saying Eric had sent her some papers she needed to notarize and mail back to him. On Saturday night, a week since Dean and Raelyn had been in Santa Cruz, she cooked them all a huge dinner. She had bought a grill putting it right outside the garage and she grilled up steaks and some vegetables. She also made homemade mashed potatoes, salad, rolls along with an apple pie and cherry pie.
Sam, Dean and Castiel had walked in the bunker from meeting up with Jody and saw the feast on the library table. “Raelyn?” Dean called out as she walked in with the last pie setting it on the table. “What is all of this?” Sam asked as he walked around the table. “I wanted to do something nice for you all. The three of you do so much for me and honestly the world. The least I could do is cook you a feast to enjoy.” Dean looked down at the pie as if he may start crying. “Go wash up and then we can eat.” Sam and Dean fought their way to the kitchen sink as she laughed at them.
Castiel stuck back looking at Raelyn strangely and then following the boys. They all enjoyed a large dinner and Dean had nearly ate a whole pie by himself. After the boys had cleaned up everything, they all decided it was time to sleep off all the food they had ate. Dean was asleep within minutes of laying down next to Raelyn. Once she knew he was in a deep sleep she slipped from his grasp and got dress. She looked down at him one last time and kissed his forehead gently as not to wake him. “I love you, Dean Winchester.” She whispered and left before she lost her nerve. She looked around for Castiel as she approached her car and saw him nowhere. She drove out of the garage and jumped on the highway heading east.
She had just hit Kansas City when she need to stop for gas and something to drink. She was stepping out of the bathroom when Castiel popped in front of her. “Jesus! Damn it Cas!” she yelped as they stood outside. “Raelyn, what are you doing here? Sam and Dean will be wondering where you are.” She pulled Castiel into the bathroom with her and locked the door. “I can’t tell you what I’m doing. You just have to trust me.” She said as Castiel frowned. “You’ve figured out a way to kill Raymond. You’re going to do it yourself, but why?” Raelyn shook her head as she grabbed the object in her back pocket. She pushed her back against the tile floor.
“Cas, you can’t tell Sam and Dean what I’m doing. I’m the only one who can kill Raymond.” Castiel gritted his teeth, “No Raelyn. Sam, Dean and I can help you. You have to trust us and tell us what you’re doing.” Castiel stepped towards her, “I’m sorry Cas.” She side stepped revealing the sigil she drawn in her blood on the wall. She hit it with her bloody hand and Castiel was blasted away. “You’ll understand one day. I hope.” She whispered as she tossed her phone into the trash can and left the gas station.
Raelyn pulled into her old driveway. The for sale sign still posted in front of the mailbox. As she parked in the driveway she looked at the house it seemingly bigger than she remembered. She picked the lock, thankful for Sam teaching her how to do so and walked into the living room. She sat down in the middle of the room taking a cleanse deep breath and closing her eyes. She remembered what Chuck taught her in her dream for reaching out to Raymond. As she sat there perfectly still in the dead of night she repeated the same thought in her head. “Raymond, meet me at home.” She felt his presence before hearing his chuckling. “Well, well color me surprised.” His dark tone filled her ears as she opened her eyes seeing him leaning up against a wall.
She stood up as he pushed himself off the wall. “You knew. You knew this whole time, didn’t you?” she asked as he nodded. “Do you want to die? Is that why you have been baiting me?” Raymond smiled wickedly at her. “I knew either way, no matter what, I would win in the end. Either we would kill each other ending everything or I would kill everyone in your life and essentially killing your soul right out of you where you would want to die.” She glared at him as he continued to laugh. “You see, I was going to drive you to our death one way or another. No matter what, we were both going to die.”
Raelyn pulled out her gun pointing it at him as he did the same. They circled one another seeing who would react first. She heard a familiar rumble driving up to the house. “Scooby gang is here now. Are you going to chicken out now that lover boy is here?” She hardened her stare at him as the front door busted opened. “Raelyn! Stop, please!” Dean yelled as Sam and Castiel were right behind him. “I’m sorry Dean. I’m so sorry.” She said as tears streamed down her cheeks. She turned her head looking at Raymond in the eyes and gave a short nod. Two simultaneously gunshots went off and Raelyn felt an instant burning pain in her chest. She fell backwards and could hear Dean yell out her name.
She looked over to Raymond whose eyes were closed and a small satisfied smile was on his face. “Raelyn! Raelyn?!” Dean’s panicked face filled her vision as she began to cough gasping for air. “Dean…” she rasped as he applied pressure to her chest. “Sammy! Call an ambulance!” He yelled out. “Dean.” She said again this time it was harder to get out his name. The metallic taste in her mouth was making her gag and she was starting to feel light headed. “Raelyn, you can’t leave me. We’re soulmates and we’re supposed to have a long life together. Hey! Hey!” She felt him smacking her cheeks and she opened her eyes. She looked longingly into his dark green eyes. She placed her hand on his cheek, “Dean, I love you.” Raelyn’s hand slipped away from his cheek and her eyes closed. The last thing she heard was Dean’s sorrowful wail, “No! Wake up! Damn it, wake up! Raelyn… no, I love you too.” With that everything around her was gone.

Writing Your Story: Chap. 12 - I Need to Know
Tumblr media
Summary: Sam, Dean, Raelyn and Castiel are all at their wits ends researching how to hunt a demon/djinn hybrid. One bad lead after another is causing them all to snap at one another. Dean decides that he is going to take Raelyn out of town for a special getaway. Characters: Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, Castiel and Raelyn Nichols (OFC) Pairing: Dean X Raelyn (OFC) Warnings: Angst/Fluff Word Count: 3096 A/N: A little angst before an incredibly fluffy chapter. After this chapter there is only four chapters left for Raelyn and Dean. As always this is unbeta so all mistakes are mine. Likes, comments and reblogs are splendid and I will love you doubly for them! Enjoy!
“Where are you boys now?” Raelyn asked as she sat at her desk. “Just made it to Oklahoma City and we’re stopping for the night.” Dean said as she heard him getting out of the Impala. Him and Sam were coming back from another dead-end lead in Texas. “You’re sure the guy didn’t know anything about Raymond?” She heard the motel door shut as Dean sighed, “Yeah, stunt demon number three didn’t know anything about Raymond’s demon. The only thing he said was the demon who Raymond has riding shotgun is a son of a bitch.” Raelyn sighed. The boys and Castiel had been running down leads to get information on Raymond. Earlier in the day, Raelyn had checked in on Castiel who was somewhere in Canada speaking to a heavenly contact of his who equally had as much information as the demon the boys talked too.
“How is your mystery novel coming along?” Dean started chuckling as Raelyn groaned. “Never mind, sorry I asked.” Raelyn looked up at her manuscript that was only half done when writer’s block smacked her in the face. “I’m sorry, everything I’ve been writing has been crap and I’m frustrated.” Dean was saying something to Sam about grabbing dinner, “I’m sure what you’re writing isn’t crap but I could be a little more reassuring if you let me see it.” Raelyn snickered, “Nice try pretty boy. I’m going to try to get back to it. How about you Facetime me a little later because I’ll probably be in the same spot glaring at my computer screen.” Raelyn narrowed her eyes at the paragraph she had rewritten a million times over the last hour. “Okay sweetheart, I will talk to you later. Don’t shoot your computer.” She laughed as she ended their called and went back to writing.
After an hour, Raelyn let out a frustrated grunt as she saved her file and shut down her computer. She decided that it would be a good time for her to get out of the bunker. Grabbing her purse and keys she walked to the garage to drive into town. Raelyn pulled into her favorite diner, Jiffy Burger, sitting in her favorite booth. Her favorite waitress, Jordan, was working and brought her a chocolate milkshake. “You know me too well, Jordan.” She laughed sticking her pen in her ponytail. “How are you tonight Raelyn?” Raelyn rolled her eyes as Jordan slowly backed away. “Got it, bacon cheeseburger with extra fries coming up.” Raelyn smiled, “Jordan, you’re a saint and I love you.” Raelyn looked around the diner at all the customers. Her favorite thing to do when she was frustrated with her writing was to go into a restaurant and people watch. She would create stories for every person or group she saw. Raelyn pulled out her notebook she kept in her purse and began writing down the stories that came in her head.
A shadow cast over her notebook and she glanced up gasping. “Hello Raelyn.” She stared into the light blue eyes of Raymond as he sat down across from her. Before Raelyn could speak, Jordan walked over with her order. “Here you go. What can I get for you handsome?” Raymond looked up at her and gave her his best charming smile. “Just a Coke, please.” Jordan’s cheeks turn pink as she walked away. “What are you doing here?” Raelyn asked in a hushed tone. He stole a fry off her plate and threw it in his mouth. “I haven’t bothered you in a while so I wanted to pop in on you. You have noticed that I haven’t been in your dreams at all, right?” Raelyn sat back folding her arms across her chest, “Yes I’ve noticed. You didn’t answer my question, what are you doing here?” Jordan came back with his soda, “Thanks beautiful.” He winked at her causing her to giggle softly as she walked away. “Like I said, I wanted to pop in on you. However, where you’re staying at I can’t just pop in. Quite some powerful warding around that bunker.” Raelyn narrowed her eyes trying to keep her panic off her face.
He chuckled at her, “Don’t worry Raelyn. I’m not here to hurt you or kidnap you again. Brute force is not the way to go about this and I learned that the hard way.” Raelyn smiled thinking of the beating Sam and Dean had given him. “Raymond, get to the point. I don’t have the patience to deal with your mind games.” He took a drink of his soda and leaned forward. “I suggest you gather some patience because messing with your mind, messing with your feelings, messing with your new friends and pretty boy toy is on the top of my to do list now. So, get ready Raelyn because I’m going to have so much fun with this.” He threw a five-dollar bill on the table and got up. “Have a great night sis. I’ll see you soon.” She watched Raymond walk out as Jordan walked over. “Wow, he’s hot. Who is that?” Raelyn sighed, “My brother and trust me he is not a good guy.” Jordan walked away looking disappointed.
“That son of a bitch!” Dean yelled as the four of them were sitting in the bunker. “Dean…” Castiel said as Dean looked at him annoyed. “What? He knows where she’s at! He threatened her! We need to take care of him like yesterday.” Raelyn was silent as Dean ranted and Sam placed his hand over hers. “Are you okay?” he asked. When she looked up at him the dam broke from the tears she was holding back. “No, I’m not okay. I need to know this is all going to end. I need to know I’m safe from him. I’m freaking terrified to go to sleep!” Dean knelt beside her his hand cupping her cheek. His thumb wiped away the tears on her cheeks. “As long as I’m around you will always be safe, I promise.” She nodded squeezing her eyes shut. “We will find a way to ice this S.O.B. and you can go back to writing novels and working conventions. Until then, trust me…” Raelyn opened her eyes as Dean looked up at Sam and Castiel, “trust us that we will let nothing happen to you.” Dean stood up pulling Raelyn up with him and wrapped his arms around her. She nestled her head against his chest as he rested his cheek on top of her head. “I trust you. I trust you all.” Sam walked over wrapping his arms around them. “Come on Cas, you’re in on this group hug too.” Dean motioned as he pulled Castiel into the hug as Raelyn giggled.
The next three weeks Sam and Raelyn stayed in the bunker researching online and ordering books online for them to read. Dean and Castiel were hunting down leads from demons across the continental United States. Raelyn put all her focus on researching demons and djinns not working on her manuscript at all. She looked up when she heard Sam groan. He was leaning back rubbing his eyes, “I need a break. How about we go out and grab some pizza or something?” Raelyn shook her head, “You go ahead. I’m going to keep reading through these articles.” She looked back down at her laptop until Sam pulled it away from her. “Sam, give me back my laptop.” Sam shook his head, “Raelyn you have been holed up in the bunker for weeks. You’re hardly sleeping or eating and when is the last time you worked on your manuscript?”
She looked at him pointedly and sighed. “Sam, please give me back my laptop so I can read through the articles I found in order to find a way to KILL my DAMN brother!” she snapped. Sam flinched as if she smacked him and pushed her laptop back to her. He got up and not saying another word walking towards the garage. She felt bad for snapping at him but she wanted this all to be over with and so far, none of them had found anything. Raelyn heard Sam come through the bunker door. She was in her room with the door shut laying on her bed. “Raelyn, I grabbed some food for us. It’s in the kitchen if you want some.” She heard him walk away. She laid her head down on her folded arms and soon her eyes were too heavy to keep open.
“Raelyn. Oh, Raelyn-n.” She looked around not seeing anyone else around her. “Hello?” she called out and then she heard his devious laugh. She hid behind a sofa that was in the room and she patted her pockets to see if she had her phone with her. “Damn it.” She whispered. “Come out, come out wherever you are.” He said in a sing song voice. “You can’t really hide from me, Raelyn. I’m inside your head.” The room came in a little clearer and saw it was her childhood home. She was in her living room she looked around from the back of the couch and saw him. Taking a deep breath, she stood up and faced Raymond. “I’m dreaming, aren’t I?” she asked as he nodded. “Yeah, but doesn’t make it any less real for you. You’ll try to tell yourself that it is only a dream but your emotions will take over. Your fear will consume you and you’ll react. The best part is that you’ll never know when I’ll come to you. Every time you close your eyes to go to sleep paralyzing fear will take you over. Eventually, you’ll think you’re going crazy and you’ll never trust yourself to sleep. I can’t wait to see you in such a panic state. For now, though…” Raymond stepped to the side revealing Sam tied to a chair. “Sam!” she yelled as Raymond pointed a gun to his temple. “Bye, bye Sammy-boy.” Raymond pulled the trigger and Raelyn lunged forward screaming. Blood was everywhere as his body slumped forward. “See, I told you. You would react and now you know what game I’m playing. See you soon.”
Raelyn shot up from her bed sweating. She rushed out to the library seeing Sam on his laptop. He stood up worry filtering over his face. “Raelyn, what’s wrong?” She rushed over to him as tears fell down her cheeks and hugged him tightly. “Whoa. Hey, what’s going on?” He asked as she started sobbing into his chest. They stood there for several minutes as she cried until finally she calmed herself down. Sam sat her down in a chair and quickly went to grab her a bottle of water. After taking a few sips, she spoke, “I had a nightmare.” Sam sat next to her and she explained what happened in her dream. Sam ran his hand through his hair letting out an uneasy breath. “Raelyn, you can’t be afraid to go to sleep. Trust me, from personal experience, you need to sleep. What usually helps after you’ve had these nightmares.” A small smile spread across her face, “Dean. He has come in and slept next to me.” Sam nodded grabbing his phone. “Hey Dean, you and Cas better come back to the bunker as soon as possible.” Sam paused looking up at her. “Raelyn had another nightmare and she needs you.” Raelyn looked down at her hands an enormous wave of guilt washing over her, but Sam was right. She needed Dean.
When Dean had heard all about the dream he decided that Castiel could go out talking with demons while him and Sam stayed behind at the bunker. The guilt on her felt like she was carrying a sumo wrestler on her back. She was more determined than ever to find answers on how to kill Raymond. Dean was sleeping next to her every night and so far, she had not had a nightmare. She enjoyed waking up to Dean each morning. She always spent a few minutes watching him sleep. His chest slowly rising and falling. His soft lips slightly parted and his tongue resting between his teeth. One morning she started counting the freckles that decorated his nose and cheeks. She only got to forty before he woke up. Her favorite moment though, was when he first woke up and opened his eyes. He slowly would open his eyelids revealing his gorgeous shiny emerald eyes. He would blink a few times and then rub them while yawning. Then he would look over giving her his traditional smirk and say good morning. The only part of her day that she looked forward to, was lying in bed next to Dean in the morning. After that, she would dive head first into her research and the fear, the guilt would all return a little heavier than the day before.
“Anything?” Dean asked as he kicked his feet up onto the table. It had been two weeks and still nothing. “There is nothing on demon hybrids. We could use try dipping the demon blade in lamb’s blood and see if that works.” Sam suggested. “See if it works? See… if it works?” Raelyn looked up hearing Dean’s angry tone. Sam shrugged, “It’s the best shot we have.” Dean slammed his fist down on the table, “Damn it! We ain’t got time for ifs and maybes! We need answers now!” Sam slammed his book closed, “Yelling and demanding answers isn’t helping Dean. I don’t see you coming up with anything either.” Sam raised his voice slightly out of frustration. They started arguing with one another until Raelyn could not take it anymore. “Both of you SHUT UP!” They turned towards her at the same time and she packed up her laptop and books she was reading from. “Neither one of you are helping the situation and frankly I don’t want to be around you guys arguing. I’ll be in my room… alone! Now I will come back out here when you both have decided to be adults again or an hour has pasted whichever comes first.” Raelyn left the brothers stunned in the library as she went to her room slamming the door.
“Hello Raelyn.” Her eyes snapped opened and she was back in her living room tied to a chair. “Raymond.” She sighed as he walked behind her. “Damn it, I fell asleep.” He snickered and leaned down his hot breath on her ear. “Yes, you did and I am so happy you’re here.” He walked around standing in front of her holding a knife. “I want to test something and I do hope it works.” He took his knife and run the blade across her forearm. She hissed as the pain traveled down to her fingertips. “Son of a bitch!” she yelled out as he sliced up her cheek. “If my theory is correct, you will wake up bleeding and hurt.” Raelyn gritted her teeth growling as he chuckled. “Let’s pick this up a little bit, shall we.” Raymond walked out of the room and brought back a tied-up Dean. Raelyn gasped seeing Dean’s face all bloody. “De-Dean?” she stammered and he lifted his head as Raymond sat him down in front of her. “Raelyn, don’t be scared. I promise we will get out of here.” She felt tears welling up in her eyes. She knew it was only a dream and her Dean was safe in the bunker. Seeing him in front of her beaten and bloody was playing tricks with her emotions. She squeezed her eyes shut and whispered, “Wake up, Raelyn. Wake. Up. Now.” Raymond’s laugh filled her mind, “Do you want to wake up? Do you really want to wake up?” She opened her eyes and nodded. “Okay then, remember you asked for this.” Raymond stood behind Dean grabbing a fist of his hair pulling back his head. Dean groaned and started to struggle against his restraints. Before she could say anything, Raymond drew the knife across Dean’s neck slicing it completely open.
Raelyn screamed, “NO! DEEANNN!” As she sat up in bed Sam and Dean came rushing in. Dean sat on the bed pulling her into his lap holding her. “Shh, Raelyn you’re okay. It was just a nightmare and he’s not here.” She rested her cheek on his shoulder and winced as it stung. She looked down at her arm and saw blood trailing down her arm. She looked up at Dean wide eyed as he realized she was bleeding. “What the hell? Sammy, go get the first aid kit.” Sam left the room returning quickly with the first aid kit. He began to clean up her wounds as Dean held her rubbing her back as Sam had to stitch up the cut on her arm. Once he was done, Sam sat on her computer chair and asked, “Raelyn, how did you get these cuts?” She felt numb as her nightmare flashed in her mind. “Raymond. He said he was testing a theory to see if he harmed me in my nightmare if I would be hurt in real life. Apparently, the answer is yes.” Dean held onto her tighter, “This changes things a lot.” She nodded with a defeated sigh.
As Raelyn and Dean were laying down to go to bed he slipped his arm around her waist pulling her closer to him. “Dean, I’m okay. I know you’re worried, but really I’ll be fine.” She turned in his arm to face him. She kissed the tip of nose as he chuckled softly. “Let’s go away this weekend. Just you and me. No research, no manuscript, just a fun weekend away from everything.” Raelyn smiled, “A weekend alone? Together? Dean Winchester are you trying to get into my pants?” She started to giggle as his face burned red. “How dare you? I am a gentleman and would never try…” He trailed off seeing her knowing look, “You’re not believing a word I’m saying, are you?” She shook her head. “Seriously, I think a weekend out of the bunker and away from everything would be great for all of us. You and I can sneak away to somewhere while Sam and Cas can do whatever they do for fun.” Raelyn thought about it for a moment and nodded, “Under one condition.” She said as he propped himself up. “We go on a date of my choosing since you promised me we could.” His beaming smile was answer enough for her and they settled down into the bed for the night.

Writing Your Story: Chap. 6 - Masquerade Gala
Tumblr media
Summary: Raelyn must make an appearance to a Masquerade Gala to promote the Supernatural books. Dean accompanies her to the Gala and she runs into a mysterious suitor who literally sweeps her off her feet.   Characters: Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, Castiel and Raelyn Nichols (OFC) Pairing: Dean X Raelyn (OFC) Warnings: Fluff, Angst,  Word Count: 3750  A/N: I hope yall are ready for some adorable boyfriend Dean in a tux. As always this is unbeta so all mistakes are mine. Likes, comments and reblogs are splendid and I will love you doubly for them! Enjoy!
Raelyn stepped out of the dressing room as Sam was sitting in an oversize chair in the department store. “Wow…” Sam’s eyes traveled her body in the dark forest green gown. “Is that a good wow or a bad wow?” She asked as she twirled around and Sam let out a low whistle. “Good wow. Great wow. That’s the dress, Raelyn.” Seeing Sam’s beaming smile, she looked in the full length mirror and gave herself a once over clapping her hands in approval. The floor length gown had a halter top with a bit of a collar. The green color made her dark green eyes pop out and her porcelain skin shimmer. She liked that it was not too low cut in either the back or front but showed off just enough skin to be sexy. The simple A-line cut of the skirt showed off her hourglass figure perfectly. She went back into the dressing to change into her regular clothes and said, “Sam, thanks for coming with me to dress shop. I just don’t trust Dean to give me the truth on what looks good on me.” Sam chuckled. “No problem, Raelyn. I had fun hanging out with you today.” She smiled walking out of the dressing room and Sam snatched her dress out of her hand to pay for it. “Oh, come on, Sam. I can pay for it myself.” He shook his head, “Nope. I feel like an older brother sending his little sister to the prom. Remind me to give Dean a threatening talking too before you guys leave.” Raelyn started laughing as they walked up to the counter to pay.
Raelyn had her duffel strap over her shoulder and her arm up in the air carrying her dress as she walked into the garage. Sam walked over grabbing the dress from her and laid it in the back seat on top of Dean’s tux so it would not get wrinkled. She set her bag in the trunk next to Dean’s bag. “Got everything?” he asked as she went over her mental checklist and nodded. “Yeah, I’m good to go.” Dean shut the trunk and walked to the driver’s side getting in. Sam opened the passenger door for Raelyn and once she was seated he shut it leaning in through the window. “Be careful and drive safe.” He said as Dean nodded to him. Raelyn smiled at him, “Always.” Sam chuckled and tapped the top of the Impala as Dean started the engine. Raelyn waved as they drove out of the garage and Sam closed the large doors. Raelyn was looking through her bookbag nestle between her legs on the floorboard. She pulled out her Bluetooth speaker and set it on the seat between her and Dean. He glanced down at it and back up at her. “I don’t want to spend six hours with my headphones on being rude. Figured I would play my music for the both of us.” She gave him a cheesy smile as he chuckled. As she browsed her playlists Dean spoke up, “Play your favorite song for me.”
Raelyn sat for moment thinking and then started playing Fitz and The Tantrums ‘Hand Clap’. Raelyn started singing and clapping along to the song as Dean was laughing. Raelyn loved seeing Dean relaxed and happy. He had one hand on the steering wheel while the other was resting out the open window. His smile was breathtaking because it was genuine. Over the next several hours they listened to music, talked, stop and ate at one of Dean’s favorite burger places in on the border of Kansas and Colorado. They pulled into the hotel parking lot in the late evening and seeing Dean’s face as he walked into the hotel suite was hilarious. The gala organizers had given Raelyn a complimentary suite with a large living area, bedroom with a king size bed and a jacuzzi bathtub that was calling her name. Dean walked around the room in awe and immediately flopped down on the sofa. “Man, this place is amazing. Motel rooms will never be the same.” She chuckled as she set her bag on the bed and hung her dress up on the back of the bedroom door. As Dean ordered room service for dinner, Raelyn took a long bath and let the jets in the tub relax her aching muscles. When she walked out in her pajama shorts and oversized t-shirt hearing Dean on the phone.
“Sammy, you should see this room. There’s little mints on the pillows and the bed is memory foam.” Raelyn rolled her eyes and answered the door when there was a knock. A small cart was rolled in by a waiter and she signed for the food giving the waiter a tip in cash. She lifted the larger dome to see a bacon pizza that smelled delicious. She then lifted the second small dome to see a large chef salad with two sides of ranch dressing. “I know you don’t like eating greasy food all the time so I also got you a salad. Did I do alright?” Dean’s voice startled her but she looked up at him as he took a slice of pizza and bit into it. She nodded picking up the salad and dressing heading towards the sofa. They sat in silence eating until Raelyn’s phone rang. “Hey Eric.” She watched Dean look over to her and cocked one eyebrow up. “Just wanted to make sure you got into town. Isn’t the room amazing?” She chuckled, “Yes, the room is amazing. What time do I need to be up and presentable by?” She asked as Dean was now tilting his head to one side. “The hair and make-up team will be there around three o’clock tomorrow so be showered and ready by then. I also need to know your date’s name.” She looked over to Dean, “My date’s name is Dean Wesson. I should mention that he likes to lead a private life so no pictures please.” She listened to Eric groan, “Fine, but then you have to walk the red carpet by yourself then.” Now it was Raelyn’s turn to groan. “That’s fine Eric, now I would like to go and finish my dinner and go to sleep.” She ended the call with a small growl. “My agent is a pain in the ass but he is part of the reason I am successful.”
Dean let out a small laugh, “Dean Wesson, really?” She rolled her eyes as she took a few more bites of her salad. “What was the whole thing about pictures?” he asked as she got up putting her bowl back on the tray. “There is a red carpet entrance that is filled with press. Normally, the ones who are invited walk the red carpet, talk with reporters and pose for pictures with their dates. I always walk alone because I never like being linked to anyone. A man in your line of work doesn’t need any publicity.” She turned to see Dean was deep in thought, “What?” she asked. “I’ll walk down with you. I don’t care about my pictures being taken. Hate to lose an opportunity to show off how a grunt like me could possibly get a woman like you.” She opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out. He had rendered her speechless. “Anyway, we should probably go to bed so we can well be rested for tomorrow. I’ll take the sofa.” Dean started to pull out a pair of sweatpants to change into from his bag. Raelyn walked up to him and hugged him taking him completely off guard. “What is this for?” he chuckled. “For being understanding and going with the flow of everything. So, basically just being you.” She smiled up at him as he blushed. As he was in the bathroom she crawled into bed leaving the door open so they could see one another but as she laid her head down on the fluffiest pillow she had ever felt she drifted off to sleep.
Raelyn tried to move but felt her hands bound behind her. She looked around but everything was blurry and there was a long ringing in her head. “Come on, wake up so I can see the panic in your eyes.” Hearing the familiar gravelly voice her eyes snapped open. She tried to scream but was unable to. She saw a body lying in front of her. Judging by the length of his body and long sandy brown hair she was looking at Sam. Raelyn looked around the room and saw Castiel in a corner trying to get back up but the Hooded Man punched him repeatedly causing him to fall back into the corner. She screamed into the rag that was tie around her mouth. “Stay down angel boy. I would hate killing you earlier than I had planned.” He looked over to Raelyn and she heard him snickering. “Ah, she’s awake. Fantastic, now the real fun can start.” He cuffed Castiel to a drain pipe that was near him and Castiel struggled against the restraints. “They have angel warding on them so no popping off.” The Hooded Man stated as he tied Sam’s hands behind his back and his feet to together. “Now, wait right there so I can get this show on the road.” He walked out of the room and Raelyn vigorously tried to push the rag from her mouth and down on her chin with her tongue and lips. Once it was below her lip she looked to Castiel, “Where are we?” Castiel had blood covering majority of his face and his voice was cracking as he spoke, “An old house near Kansas City. Raelyn, I should have known. I should have warned you.” She heard the Hooded Man coming back. He was dragging an unconscious Dean into the room who was bound at his hands and feet. Raelyn looked up into the pitch black hood only seeing electric blue eyes. “This… this is for you Raelyn.” He seethed as he brought out a jagged knife. Dean was coming to as he laid facing Raelyn. Tears streaming down her cheeks as the Hooded Man stood behind him bring the knife down into Dean’s chest. “Raelyn, I…”
Raelyn shot up screaming and sobbing. “Raelyn! Shh, Raelyn it’s okay. I got you.” Dean was holding her as she cried into his chest. After a few minutes she finally calm down. Dean got up to get her a bottle of water and a washcloth. She took a few sips of water as Dean carefully wiped her forehead and cheeks with the cool washcloth. She closed her eyes and leaned into his touch trying to slow her rapidly beating heart. “Another nightmare?” She nodded taking a deep breath. “Do you want to talk about it?” She looked up into his worried eyes and she flashed to seeing him being stabbed. She shook her head as tears began prickling at her eyes again. “Okay. You don’t have too. I will just be right on the couch if you need me.” He went to get up but she grabbed his arm. “Please stay.” Her voice was just above a whisper but filled with anxiety. Dean nodded as he climbed into the bed next to her. They faced once another and he gently ran his fingers through her hair. The repetitive motion helped Raelyn to relax enough to fall back asleep. The only thing she dreamed of was fields of endless shades of green.
The next morning, Raelyn woke up to Dean already being up, showered and dressed. He was acting like a kid on Christmas morning getting her up and dressed. She pulled a beanie down over her hair and was dragged by Dean out the door. The walked around downtown Denver getting brunch at a local hole-in-the-wall restaurant. They went on a tourist buggy ride that took them to a breathtaking overlook to see the mountains. Raelyn was staring off when she heard a familiar snap of an iPhone camera taking a picture. She slowly turned to Dean who had taken a picture of her and his red cheeks gave away his guilt. She laughed and stood in front of him with her own camera in selfie mode snapping a picture of the two of them. The tour guide offered to take a picture of them in front of the mountain and Dean pulled her into his side with his arm around her shoulders. Around two o’clock they came back to their hotel to relax before the glam squad came to make Raelyn into a real girl. They were sitting on the sofa at opposite ends watching a movie on tv. He would glance at her and when she would glance at him he’d turn his head quickly his cheeks turning pink.
Promptly at three o’clock Maxi and Drea came waltzing into the room like they owned the place. Maxi pushed Raelyn into the bedroom to start getting her ready while Drea fussed over Dean. His terrified face was the last image she saw as Maxi closed the doors. “So, when did you meet Mr. Dreamboat?” Raelyn loved Maxi but she was always nosey. “We meet a few months ago. He is just a friend and doing me a favor by escorting me to this event.” Maxi scoffed as she began to work on Raelyn’s hair. “You keep telling yourself that he’s just a friend, but from the few moments I saw you two in the same room he wants more.” Raelyn gave her a pointed look through the mirror and Maxi held her hands up, “Okay, okay I’m shutting up. I think I’m going to keep your hair simple tonight. A light curl at the ends and down with a longer swoop bang.” Raelyn smiled nodding as she sat back and enjoyed being pampered. Soon after Drea came in to do her make-up. “Your man in there is stubborn but I wore him down.” Raelyn smacked her forehead, “Oh jeez. First, he is not my man, he is just a friend. Secondly, what did you do to him Drea?” She chuckled as she started applying a light foundation on Raelyn’s face. “I did his hair and put some product in it. Really, I could have been worse but you would have thought I was killing him.” Raelyn was full on laughing now thinking of Dean putting up a fuss about having products in his hair. Drea always raved to Raelyn about her perfect skin and how she never had to use too much make-up on her to glam her up. “It’s women like you that put me out of business. Okay, now go slip into your dress.”
After a thousand compliments from the girls and a few touch ups. Raelyn stepped out of the bedroom ready to go. She looked around the living area to see where Dean was when he came walking in through the door. He stopped suddenly when his eyes landed on her and she stood motionless seeing him in a traditional tux. “Oh yeah they’re ‘just friends’.” Maxi and Drea said at the same time as Raelyn rolled her eyes at them. “Thank you for making me look like a girl. You can now leave to gossip all about me in your own room.” Raelyn said as Dean opened the door for them, “Goodnight ladies and uh, thanks for the hair gunk.” Drea winked at him as she passed him. Once they were alone in the hotel room an awkward tension started building between them. “I was going to pour myself a drink would you like one?” he asked as she nodded. She admired him as he grabbed a bottle of whiskey and two glasses. The tux fit him perfectly showing off his muscular body but especially his broad shoulders. When Raelyn looked up to his hair she realized why Drea was so proud of herself. Raelyn had confided in them one time that she was a sucker for guys with a fauxhawk and she had styled Dean’s hair just as so. Dean handed her a glass and held his up, “To a night of shining a spotlight on an amazing woman.” Raelyn clinked her glass against his.
A limo was sent to pick them up and Dean acted like the perfect gentleman helping her get in and out of the limo, holding her clutch and hooking her arm in his. When they approached the red carpet a tall African-American man came up to them. “Damn Raelyn, you are going to knock the socks off of these reporters. You must be Dean. I’m Eric Collins, Raelyn’s agent.” The two men shook hands and Eric guided them to the beginning of the red carpet. “Dean, you’ll stick back here with me for a few minutes while she answers some questions and then get ready to be blind for about an hour after all the flashes.” Dean chuckled nervously but then smiled down at Raelyn, “Knock ‘em dead.” She smirked up at him and made her way through the reporter line. Raelyn answer questions about her current novel and teasing about her new novel coming out later in the year.
As she approached the last reporter she saw Dean waiting for her talking with Eric. “So, Raelyn, what do you feel is behind the success of the Supernatural series?” Raelyn smiled at the reporter and glanced over to Dean thinking of all the amazing and tragic events in his life. “I believe the series is successful because the characters are relatable. Even if monsters are not real the emotions and decisions Sam and Dean go through are relatable to everyone. They inspire people all around the world to always keep fighting and that they are never alone in their personal battles.” Raelyn thanked the reporter as she stepped over to Dean and they followed Eric to the photographers. Dean slipped his arm behind her with his hand resting on her hip as camera flashes started going off like crazy. They smiled and posed for a few minutes as people yelled to get their attention. Dean leaned down and whispered in her ear, “My cheeks are hurting and I really think I’m going blind.” Raelyn started giggling as they walked off the red carpet and into the venue. There was a check-in table where Eric gave them all their names then they were directed to a table with a bunch of masks. She picked a simple black one for Dean to wear making him sexier and more mysterious than he already was. There was a forest green mask with a feather on the side that she put on and when she faced Dean she watched him suck in a quick breath. She blushed and hooked her arm with his.
They mingled with a few of her acquaintances from the publishing company who handled her books. They sat at a table with Eric and a few others from the company and chatted as they ate an incredible steak dinner. Dean seem to easily chat with anyone which she admired. Suddenly, she felt a chill run down her spine as if she was being watched. She slowly glanced around not seeing anyone and she shrugged off the feeling. Once the dinner portion was over the President of the National Writers Association made a short speech and then a live band started playing while people danced. A few songs in they played a slow song and Dean stood up hold out his hand, “Care to dance with me?” Raelyn bit her bottom lip and nodded. He led her onto the dancefloor and put his hand on the small of back while he held her other hand slowly swaying them from side to side. “Don’t laugh but I never really danced with anyone before so I’m sorry if I step on your toes or something.” Raelyn chuckled, “You’re doing great Dean. Honestly, you blend right in with everyone as if you were more a part of this world than I am.” He rested his cheek against her ear pulling her closer to him. Raelyn could feel his body tense up slightly as he was about to say something when a gentleman tapped his shoulder.
“May I cut in? I’m a big fan of Miss Nichols.” The gentleman asked as Dean glanced down at her to see if it was okay. She shrugged and then nodded, “Take care of her because I’ll be back for her.” Dean said as he let the man cut in and walked off towards the bar. Raelyn looked up at the man seeing his light blue eyes shine through his lacey black mask. He seemed familiar to her and she was becoming more uncomfortable by the second in his arms. She looked around for Dean and could not see him anywhere. “He is preoccupied and won’t come to your rescue.” As soon as she heard his voice she began to tremble. She felt a piercing pain in her lower back as he pressed a sharp object against her. “Who are you?” she asked as he smiled down at her. Raelyn was starting to have the feeling a déjà vu rising in her. “Not yet, Raelyn. You’ll find out soon enough. You will watch your perfect world crumble and then you will feel the same as I have.”
She knew what was going to happen next, but she could not look away from his eyes. They flashed an electric blue then glossed over to pitch black. “This is all because of you, Raelyn. You are to blame for my life, for my decisions and ultimately for our deaths.” He seethed as he held her arm tightly. She could feel it starting to bruise leaving his hand print on her porcelain skin. “Stop it, please. What did I ever do to you?” she begged and she could feel his body tensing up with anger. “Everything. You did everything to me and I hate you.” He started to drag her towards an exit and no one around her was paying attention to her distress. She went to yell for Dean but the man put his large hand over her mouth, “Shh. This will all be over soon.” He dragged her out the exit door as she struggled against him. The next thing she felt was an intense pain across her face and then everything went black.

Writing Your Story: Chap. 11 - Another Book, Really?
Tumblr media
Summary: Raelyn sends her finished manuscript to her publisher to start getting ready for the release of it. She begins writing her next book that is a little more personal to her than the Supernatural series. The only person she tells that she is writing a new book is Sam.
Characters: Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, Castiel and Raelyn Nichols (OFC) Pairing: Dean X Raelyn (OFC) Warnings: Fluffiness, Big Brother!Sam Word Count: 2360 A/N: This is one of the shorter chapters, but I felt it was important to highlight Sam and Raelyn’s friendship. I love the idea of Sam getting to be an older brother because I think he would be great at it. I did have a hard time writing Sam so I hope I do not disappoint any Sam girls. As always this is unbeta so all mistakes are mine. Likes, comments and reblogs are splendid and I will love you doubly for them! Enjoy!
Raelyn walked through the bunker door carrying several grocery bags. “Need some help?” Sam asked from his spot in the library. Raelyn glared down at him, “Nope, I’m good. I minored in Pack Mule while get my English degree. Yes, come help me!” Sam chuckled at her sarcasm. “I think Dean’s snarky attitude is rubbing off on you.” He stated as he met her halfway up the stairs to grab a few bags, “Raelyn, did you buy everything in the grocery store?” He asked as they made their way to the kitchen. “Yes, yes I did.” She rolled her eyes, “I had to take the opportunity of Dean not being here to get healthy food instead of hearing him whine about it.” Sam laughed nodding. Raelyn and Sam put away the groceries and then went back to the library. “Did Dean check in yet?” Sam shook his head as he resumed his original position sitting with his legs kicked up on the table. “No, last I heard he and Cas were still following up with Donatello.” Raelyn sighed as she checked her email on her phone. Dean and Castiel had left a few days earlier to get the prophet, Donatello, so he could read the Demon Tablet. They were hoping there was something about how to open a riff into the Alternate Universe.
Raelyn clicked on an email from her agent and gasped excitedly. “What’s up?” Sam asked as Raelyn bounced in her chair. “My agent just sent me the approval for my newest novel!” Sam threw his head back sighing loudly. Raelyn pursed her lips together, “What?” Sam looked over to her, “Another book, really? Aren’t you tired of writing about our lives?” Raelyn set her phone down and reached over closing Sam’s laptop. “What’s going on with you lately? Your sour mood makes lemons jealous, now split it.” Sam looked down at his hands in his lap. “I don’t want to talk about it.” Normally, Raelyn would not push the issue but Sam had been like this since they went missing and she could not take it anymore. “Not good enough. I have given you space and have tried to keep Dean from pestering you about it. You need to talk about it because if you keep bottling it up then you will explode.” Sam sighed as his shoulders slumped over. “You’re right which is annoying.” Raelyn chuckled, “You love me and you know it. Come on, I know just the spot to go to. Perfect for sharing a bottle of whiskey and talking.” Raelyn jumped up and grabbed Sam’s hand leading him towards the garage.
Raelyn drove them to the open field Dean had taken her to on their redo date. Since then they had gone there quite a few times and it had become her favorite spot. She grabbed the blanket she kept in her trunk for emergencies and Sam grabbed the bag with the bottle of whiskey. They sat down and drank a couple glasses each of whiskey before Sam was ready to start talking. “Last year when we lost mom and Cas, we had Jack. I knew Jack had special powers to help is get mom back. I had a plan that I could focus on while I pushed back my grief. Now, Jack is stuck in the same world as our mom and we have no idea how to get either of them back. I feel lost and defeated.” Raelyn poured another glass for him. “Yet, you know of a spell that can open a riff and you know of the person who can read said spell from the Demon Table.” Sam scoffed, “All true, but something will happen where it doesn’t work and we are back at square one again. I’m just tired of always being the one who is hopeful. I just don’t have the energy for it anymore.” His words tore into her heart. The one thing she loved most about Sam was that he always had faith. He always saw the glass half full. There was always a light at the end of whatever dark tunnel they had to fight their way through.
“Sam, if anyone can relate to how you feel it’s me. You can’t give up hope though. You have to focus one thing that gives you the slightest feeling of hope and then build upon that. You can’t focus on the big picture or the end goal. Take it one step at a time.” Sam’s hazel eyes were misty and she reached out squeezing his hand. “What is one thing that you can focus on that can be the foundation?” Sam stretched his long legs out and leaned back on her elbows. “I have Dean and Cas and you in my corner always looking for answers. Always having my back.” Raelyn smiled sitting cross legged on the blanket. “Then focus on that for now and then add little moments of hope on to it. We’ve always got your back.” Sam gave her a small smile as they sat there for a little while longer.
Raelyn over the next few days, while the brothers were focusing on finding the ingredients to the spell, began writing her newest manuscript. She had sent her latest Supernatural manuscript back to her publisher for a final work up and artwork for the cover. Her newest manuscript was not a part of the Supernatural series, but a standalone title that was going to be based off her own life experiences. She pitched the idea to Eric when she was in Chicago and he got approval for her to go ahead and start writing it. As Raelyn was writing up character information and outline her story she felt a pair of strong hands start to rub her shoulders. She closed her eyes and let her head fall forward with a small groan.
“Whatcha working on, doll?” Dean’s husky voice only slightly registered in her mind as his hands working the knots out of her shoulders and back was overwhelming every sense she had. She grunted as he chuckled, “Raelyn?” his hands stopped and she glanced behind her. “Hey, I was enjoying that.” Dean swung her chair around to face him. “I could see that, but sometimes I like it when you actually answer me and not just grunt at me.” Raelyn raised her eyebrows at him. “When did we do role reversal here where you’re the chick and I’m the dude?” Dean sat down holding his stomach while laughing. She loved when he would laugh like that. He just let himself go and laughed with his whole body. It was something so innocent and rarely happened so when it did Raelyn always sat back and admired him. “I am working on character and plot outline for my new manuscript.”
Dean wiped a few tears from his eyes from laughing. He gave her a curiously look as he calmed himself down, “You actually plan out what you’re going to write before you write it?” Raelyn nodded, “Yeah, why do you seem so confused by that?” Dean shrugged. “I always just thought you wrote whatever came to mind and then BAM!” he clapped his hands together loudly, “you have a book.” Raelyn shook her head as she put it in her hands. “Sorry to disappoint, but that’s not how it works. I plan it all out first and then I slowly build a whole world around the basic outline.” Raelyn showed him an example from one of the Supernatural novels. She pulled up his character in the book showing him the basic outline she had for him. Then she pulled up his character’s plot throughout the book then how that plot would overlap with Sam’s plot and the overall plot of the book. She looked up at Dean who was looking at her in awe.
“What?” she asked. “You make it seem so simple and effortless to build a whole world around two people. I just find that amazing.” Raelyn shrugged, “I have always had a vivid imagination and it helped that my two characters are actually live people who I can talk too.” Dean was reading over her shoulder the notes she made about him. “Yeah, but you wrote all of this before knowing us. Yet, you perfectly describe Sam and mine’s personalities. That is a talent to be able to read people who you have only heard about.” She smirked at him as he rested his chin on her shoulder.
“It’s not a talent, not really. I can relate to both you and Sam in a variety of ways. What makes this series so popular is the fact that the two main characters are relatable to people. They go through real life struggles everyone else goes through just with a pinch of monsters. For people reading these books, they are inspired by the trials of the Winchester Brothers and rejoice when they overcome said trials. You and Sam think that you guys are nothing special but a couple of roughneck hunters, but you’re not. You, unknowingly, inspire millions of people around the world through these books. More importantly, you inspire those who are around you all the time including other hunters and sometimes monsters. So, really, I’m not reading your personality. I write how I perceive you and Sam. These novels are Sam and Dean through my eyes with a little help from Chuck with a few details.” Raelyn turned her chair again to face Dean and was surprise by him kissing her. His mouth hungrily moved against hers as his hands went up into her hair. When he pulled away resting his forehead against hers she slowly opened her eyes, “Wow, what was that for?” she asked taking a deep breath. “For being you.” She laughed softly as he stood up in front of her.
“So, show me the outlines for your new manuscript.” Raelyn shook her head, “Sorry pretty boy, I can’t do that. I would have to kill you if I did and I kind of like having you around.” Dean looked down at her sticking his bottom out in a full pout and his green eyes went into puppy mode. She shook her head vigorously, “Put your puppy eyes away and that damn pouty lip before I bite it.” Dean’s jaw dropped as she started laughing at his reaction. He leaned down his lips just above hers, “What was that?” he asked as he stuck his lip out again. She brought her hand up the side of his face running her fingers through his hair to the back of his neck. She barely opened her mouth and brought his bottom lip between her teeth gently nibbling on it before she brought both hands to his chest and pushed him back onto her bed. “I said I would bite it. Now leave me be so I can get some work done.” She looked at Dean’s flustered bright red face and chuckled. He stood back up and let out a loud sigh mumbling as he walked out, “Damn woman will be the death of me.” Raelyn felt bad for not sharing her manuscript idea with Dean, but she wanted him to read it once it was finished. She wanted him to see it as a whole and not in pieces. Other than herself only a few people at her publishing company, Eric and Sam knew anything about it. She remembered telling Sam about it when they had drove out to her favorite spot.
“Now, that I have spilled my guts to you I think turnabout is fair game.” Sam said sitting up on the blanket. “What do you mean?” she asked genuinely not knowing what he was talking about. “You’re writing a new book?” he asked and she sighed looking away. “It’s not a part of the Supernatural series. It will not have you and Dean in it… directly.” Sam gave her a questioning look. Groaning she explained, “I’m going to be writing a fictional book, with all fictional characters, based off my own life experiences. The main character will be female based off me and the other two characters with be males based off of you and Dean. I’m leaving out the monsters, Chuck and the evil twin brother parts.” Sam laughed, “Good idea. What will it be about then?” Raelyn closed her eyes leaning back on the blanket letting the sun warm her skin. She peeked over to Sam from one of her eyes and then closed it again, “It will be about life. Building a life that a person could be proud of, making new friends, falling in love and all the twists along the way.” She looked over to Sam to see a sad smile on his face. “A normal life.” He whispered as she nodded. “Yeah, a normal life.”
One thing Sam and Dean talked about more than anything and especially after a bottle of whiskey was having a normal life. Many times, they expressed how they would never have a normal life with wives, kids, white picket fences. How their lives would end bloody one way or another. She could not help the sadness she felt when she heard them talking about how they viewed their lives. One day, as Sam and Dean were out getting some supplies she decided to print off comments from fan sites about how the characters “Sam and Dean” had inspired them. She taped them throughout each of the guys bedrooms. Stories of how these characters helped them through their depressions, divorce, death, communicating with a loved one, to quit their addiction and so many other stories. She had closed the door to her room when they came back to the bunker letting them find their rooms on their own. About an hour later she found them both outside her door and the swooped her up in to a big group hug. Both of them simply saying thank you. Just like then Raelyn wanted to give them a little slice of a normal life in the only way she could which was creating a whole world just for them.

Writing Your Story: Chap. 3 - Drinking Games
Tumblr media
Summary: Dean takes Raelyn to a bar to get to know her better and after many drinks they get into a heated game with high stakes. Characters: Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, Castiel and Raelyn Nichols (OFC) Pairing: Dean X Raelyn (OFC) Warnings: Fluff… oh the Fluff Word Count: 3020 A/N: This chapter was a lot of fun to write. I hope you all love the banter between Dean and Raelyn. This is unbeta so all mistakes are mine. Likes, comments and reblogs are marvelous and I will love you forever for them.
Raelyn did not get too far before she heard quick footsteps coming from behind her. “Raelyn! Raelyn wait, please!” She heard Dean shout. She stopped not turning to face him as he caught up to her. “Hey…” he softly said as he stood in front of her. She stared down at their feet and gravel, “What do you want Dean?” She watched him take a step back and looked up at him. He was the perfect height for her where she could fit just under his chin. “Why don’t we go down to this local bar I found. We could grab a few drinks and talk.” He sounded sincere in his offer but she had dreamed of enough of his hook-ups that she knew she would be setting herself up for heartache. Raelyn began to shake her head and walk around Dean when he stepped in front of her blocking her escape route. “No future talk. No soulmate whatever. Just a few drinks to get to know you since you know everything about me.” She took a chance looking up at him and her resolve faded. “Alright.” She said following him back to the Impala.
Once they were seated at a table in the bar each with a beer, Raelyn could feel herself starting to relax. “This place reminds me of my regular bar back in college.” Dean chucked looking around the place. “Where did you go to college?” She set her beer down and ran her finger around the rim of her glass. “Northwestern University in Evanston.” Dean seemed to want to ask something but looked slightly embarrassed to ask, “What?” she prompted him. “I haven’t heard of too many universities before other than the few Sam applied to when he was college age but I have heard of that one. You must be smart to go there.” Raelyn laughed, “I don’t know about that. I earned my Masters in English Literature from there.” Dean scrunched up his nose slightly in disgust as Raelyn continued laughing. “I’m sure you have no use for someone who has a degree in English.” Dean shook his head, “Actually, at times, it could be handy to have someone who has read a lot books. That is why Sammy is the brains and I’m the brawn.” Dean flex his arms as Raelyn threw her head back in laughter.
Raelyn and Dean talked a great deal about her growing up in Missouri. They traded a few of their favorite things. Raelyn realized they had a lot more in common than she thought. It had been a long time since she enjoyed getting to know someone. Even though she knew a lot about Dean already the things she learned about him sitting in that bar were immeasurable. A comfortable silence fell between them as Dean was watching the baseball game on a tv above the bar. She made mental notes of how other people acted around him. Any female was drawn to him like a magnet and the men were either impressed or jealous by him. As their waitress came back, Dean held up two fingers and she flashed him a big smile. “Do you ever get sick of women throwing themselves at you?” Dean puckered his lips thinking, “Sometimes I do. I don’t know I guess since I’m older I get tired of the one-night stands.” His answered surprised her which apparently showed as he smiled at her. “Believe it or not, Raelyn, I have thought about the whole settling down and having a family thing. There are hunting families out there, but being a Winchester is different. We hold a huge responsibility for this world and explaining that to anyone is difficult. Hell, you’re probably the only normal person who would understand that.”
Raelyn was surprised by his honesty and now a question was burning on the tip of her tongue. She noticed Dean staring at her, “Spit it out, Raelyn.” She ran her tongue over her bottom lip as she gently bit it. She heard Dean suck in a breath as his eyes were fixed on her mouth. “What do you think of this whole soulmate thing?” Dean’s eyes moved from her lips to her eyes and she swore he was looking deep inside her soul. His bright green eyes were shining and dare she say even hopeful, but his words sliced through her like a knife. “I don’t believe in fates or destinies. We all make our own choices rather it is with saving the world or who we want to spend the rest of our lives with. If we don’t want to be with one another then we don’t have to be.” She tried to not let her disappointment show, but she could not help to slump back into her chair. The waitress returned with two shots placing them in front of Dean. “Thanks sweetheart.” He said winking at her and Raelyn felt her heart dropping to her stomach. Dean slid one of the shot over to Raelyn and she downed it immediately. “Miss? Could we have a couple of more?” Raelyn asked deciding that drinking her unwanted feelings away was better than marinating in them.
After a few more shots, Raelyn saw a pool table open up. “Come on, pretty boy let’s play some pool.” Dean shrugged as they stood up walking over to the table. “I don’t play unless they are stakes so what are we playing for?” Raelyn giggled at the thought running through her head but shook it out. “What do you want to play for?” she asked. Dean took a moment to think as he racked the balls up. “Do you have any more conventions or appearances to make in the near future?” He asked as Raelyn grabbed a pool stick. “Um, no. I’m not scheduled to do anymore appearances for a while. Why?” He walked over grabbing a stick for himself. He was standing extremely close to her and his scent was invading all of her senses. Leather, whiskey and faint smell of cinnamon. “If I win then you come stay with Sam and I at the bunker for a while. Help us research and see what it is really like living the glamorous life of a hunter.” Raelyn’s body trembled ever so slightly at the thought of being around Sam and Dean for an extended length of time. “Okay and if I win?” She asked as the jukebox had started to play a song loudly. Dean leaned down, his lips grazing her neck right below her ear sending shivers down her spine. “You win, then I take you out on a date of your choosing. We’ll see if there is anything to this soulmate thing.” He leaned back slightly to look into her eyes and she leaned up closer their noses almost touching. “You’re on pretty boy.”
They decided to play two out of three to make it fair. The first game, Dean had dominated over Raelyn which was exactly what she wanted. The many nights with her college friends playing pool she learned how to hustle overly cocky players. She observed Dean as he would line up his shots and decisions he would make about particularly difficult shots. He was good, probably one of the better players she had ever gone up against. The second game, she barely won and she was nervous that she was going to lose though really with these stakes she was a winner either way. Raelyn racked the balls as Dean stood at the other end. She was terrible at breaking so she allowed him to break which could work for or against her. She watched as he leaned down aiming his stick at the cue ball. He looked up at her giving his best cocky smirk to her. She rolled her eyes in response while on the inside slowly melting to mush. Damn, he was good at making her complete and utter gooey mess. It came down to each of them have a couple of balls and the eight ball. She knelt down to see if she could make sure she could make her shot. Dean leaned over slightly smiling as he watched her line up her shot. She sunk the first ball but missed on her second and that is when she knew he was going to clear the table.
Dean had his chest puffed out as they returned to their table. “Did you see how beautiful that eight ball went into the corner pocket?” He boasted as Raelyn finished her beer. “Yes, Dean I saw it. Now you get to have me staying at the Bunker and I will just take all kinds of notes to put in my next novel.” She did not realize what she said until she saw Dean’s jaw drop. “So, you are writing another novel!” He exclaimed as she got up from her chair. “I’m going to go use the restroom now. Be back in a bit.” She heard him chuckling as she made her way to the ladies’ room. When she was seated in a stall she heard two other women come in. “Did you see that gorgeous hunk of flannel?” Raelyn stifled her laugh making a mental note to put that in one of her novels in the future. “I know! What is he doing with that woman? No way, a man like that can be satisfied with a girl like her. Did you see what she was wearing? Don’t get me start on how big she is.” Raelyn’s smiled faded as she listened to the women go on about her clothes and looks. She waited until they left the restroom before coming out of the stall. Raelyn was used to people judging her and they had only said the words she had thought a million times over in her head. She was not the type of woman that could hold Dean’s attention or desire. That harsh realization hit her like a ton of bricks. She splashed water on her face and watched as her tears mixed the droplets of water running down her cheeks. Taking a deep breath, she squared her shoulders back and walked out of the restroom. As she rounded a corner she heard one of the women talking with Dean and sitting in her chair.
Dean looked up as you were approaching the table. “Babe, you’re back. I was just telling this lovely lady here all about our getaway road trip we are taking.” Raelyn smiled as she stood next to Dean’s chair. “Oh yeah?” Raelyn placed her hand on Dean’s shoulder as he slipped his arm around her waist. The woman’s expression was priceless as she gawked at them. “Yeah, I was telling her as soon as you got back we were heading back to the hotel.” Dean wiggled his eyebrows suggestively as she giggled. The woman stood up, “Well I should let you get on your way.” She walked around the opposite side of Raelyn leaning down and whispered, “If you get bored with her give me a call.” She set a business card on the table while walking away. Dean stood up placing a few bills on the table leaving the business card on the table and returned his arm around Raelyn’s waist as they walked out. As they passed the woman and her friend, Dean whispered to Raelyn, “I’m sorry for this…” Raelyn was about to ask and then she felt his large hand smack her butt firmly jolting her forward. Raelyn turn around to give him a piece of her mind but then watch the woman’s face turn red in jealously. As soon as the door to the bar shut she smacked his shoulder. “That is the only time you are getting away with smacking me on the ass, Winchester.” She huffed as he stopped to catch his breath from laughing. “Did you see her face though? Oh god… that was great. I haven’t had that much fun in years.” Raelyn relaxed slightly chuckling finally at the whole scene. Dean settled down and as they approached the Impala, “You know what because I had so much fun with you. I think we should go on a date of your choice.”
Raelyn looked up at him surprised. “Dean, you don’t have to go out on a date with me just because you feel bad for those women in there saying things about me. I’m a big girl and can handle it.” Dean started to speak but she held up her hand, “Let’s just go back to the motel and see what Sam and Cas are up too.” Raelyn quickly got into the Impala before Dean could say anything. He sighed defeated and got in the car as well. When they returned to the motel Raelyn’s car was gone and Sam was alone on his laptop in the room. “Where’s Cas?” she asked slightly panicked that he took off with her car. “He went back to your condo to grab some of your things for you. I told him to wait for you but he wanted to be helpful.” Raelyn sat down chuckling as she put her head in her hands. “Freaking angel…” she muttered. She picked up her phone quickly dialing Castiel’s number. “Hello Raelyn.” He answered. “Cas, don’t worry about going into my underwear drawer. I will just buy new ones. Same with my bras… just grab shirts and pants.” Raelyn paused as she glanced over to the brothers who were both snickering. “It does not bother me to see your undergarments. Like you, I find you pleasing to look at.” She let out a frustrated sigh. “Cas, why are you even packing my stuff?” Castiel was silent for a moment, “When you left with Dean I looked out the window and saw a hooded man watching you. I think he may be some sort of demon.” She caught Dean’s attention as her eyes went wide and her mouth made a small o shape. “Are you sure?” She asked. “No. I would rather you stay with Sam and Dean to keep you safe. Is there anything else you need from your apartment that I could bring?” Raelyn rattled off everything she needed to Castiel and ended the call.
“Raelyn, what is it?” Dean asked his tone stern. “Cas, saw someone watching me when we left for the bar. A man in a hood who he thinks may be a demon. He wants me to stay with you two so I’m safe.” Raelyn rubbed the back of her neck as the brothers had a silent communication going on. “Raelyn, we will protect you, no matter what we are up against. First thing tomorrow, we will get you officially initiated into our Scooby Gang.” Dean said as he pulled down the collar of his shirt revealing his anti-possession tattoo. Raelyn snickered as she stood up turning her back towards the boys. She lifted her shirt up revealing her back where at the top of her spine was her anti-possession tattoo. “Beat you to it already. The moment Chuck and Cas told me all about monsters I went and got one.” She pulled her shirt back down and turned to see Dean biting his lower lip. “Smart idea.” Sam said as he averted his eyes back down to his laptop.
When Castiel returned to the motel, Raelyn was curled up on Sam’s bed resting her eyes. She could not get herself to fall asleep. Castiel came in with a duffle bag and bookbag filled with items. Raelyn hugged the angel and kissed him on the cheek causing a shade of pink to rise in his cheek. “Thank you, Cas. I will go and see if there is an extra room available.” She was getting ready to walk out when Castiel stopped her. “I think it would be best if you stay in the same room as Sam and Dean. I do not want anything to happen to you and I need to go check a few leads on this hooded man.” Raelyn looked at Castiel as if he was crazy and pointed to the beds, “Cas, there are only two beds and no couch. Where am I supposed to sleep?” She had turned towards Dean when she heard a whooshing sound. “Damn it Cas!” She yelled out. Dean chuckled as he grabbed her duffle bag, “You can sleep next to me. I’m a heavy sleeper so don’t worry about waking me up.” He set her bag on the opposite side of his and suddenly her stomach was fluttering with nerves. “Fine. I’m going to shower and get some sleep if possible.” Raelyn rummaged through her bag grabbing what she needed and headed into bathroom.
She leaned against the sink trying to calm herself down. Her body was coiled so tight her nerves were shot. She started the water getting it as hot as she could possibly stand and then let it cascade over her entire body. She thought back on the last couple of days and how her life had really flipped upside down. Chuck had told her that monsters might come for her but the hooded man and the whole soulmate thing with Dean was a little much for her. After washing her hair and body she let the water run over her until it turned cold. Putting on her pajamas she gathered her things and walked out to see Sam’s back facing her as he was laying on his side. Dean was sitting up on his side of the bed flipping through TV channels. “You know, I could just sleep on the floor.” She said putting it things away in her bag. Dean shook his head, “I really don’t mind sharing a bed with you. Who knows, maybe we will both get some sleep.” He flipped off the TV as she climbed into bed next to him. They laid with their backs mere inches from one another. “Goodnight Raelyn.” He whispered making her smile. “Goodnight pretty boy.” The last thing she heard before drifting to sleep was his soft laughter.

Writing Your Story: Chap. 10 - You Should’ve Listen to Me
Tumblr media
Summary: Sam and Dean get a lead on Jack, the Nephilim and go in search of him. Raelyn tries to convince them to not go or to take her along since she knows everything that will happen. Raelyn and Dean get into a major fight and then the brothers end up missing.   Characters: Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, Castiel and Raelyn Nichols (OFC) Pairing: Dean X Raelyn (OFC) Warnings: Angst/Fluff Word Count: 2950 A/N: As you can tell this is from the “Wayward Sisters” episode with Raelyn added into it. As always this is unbeta so all mistakes are mine. Likes, comments and reblogs are splendid and I will love you doubly for them! Enjoy!
“Have you heard from Cas at all?” Dean asked as the three of them were sitting in the library. It had been a few weeks since Raelyn and Dean had run into Raymond in Chicago and Raelyn had been pushing herself looking for a way to kill him. The brothers had been splitting their time between looking for Jack and helping Raelyn. She glanced up from the book she was reading watching Dean leaving another voicemail for Patience Turner, a teenage psychic they had met months back. “He said he was working a lead in Tucson on Jack. He calls in like every other day.” Sam said frustrated. Dean groaned as he plopped down in his chair. “I just want a break in something rather that is finding the kid or how to kill the hybrid.” As if the universe had been listening to him, Sam’s phone rang. He put it on speaker, “Jody, what’s going on?” Sheriff Jody Mills was a friend of the brothers and fellow hunter in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. “Hi boys, I think I may have a lead on your missing kid.” Raelyn put her book down as Sam and Dean listened intently to Jody. She tells them of a man whose eyes were burnt out in Bismarck, North Dakota. “I just sent you a picture of the description the wife gave. Is that you kid?” Dean’s eyes lit up, “Sure is. Thanks Jody.” Dean got up out of his seat heading towards his room as Sam and Jody chatted some more.
Raelyn was having the feeling of déjà vu again, but different than from her nightmares. When it hit her as to why she quickly got up and rushed to Dean’s room. He was packing his duffel bag with clothes as she barged in. “Don’t go.” She said slightly out of breath. Dean looked up her confused, “Why not? We finally got a lead on the kid after months of jack with a side of squat.” He continued to pack his bag as she tried to figure out a way to convince him to stay. “Dean, this is exactly how my next Supernatural novel starts. I know what is going to happen.” Dean stopped for a moment setting the clothes he had in hands on top of his bag. He walked over to her running his hands down her arms gently. “Nothing is set in stone. Sam and I have proved repeatedly that we make our own destinies. What you saw, what you wrote may not happen. I can’t let this lead on Jack go. Sam and I have to follow it and I know that scares you.” Raelyn sighed nodding. “Dean, I don’t know… what I would…” He pulled her into his arms wrapping them around her. “Raelyn, I promise you we will come back. We always come back. When I get back you and I are going to have the redo date, okay?” She looked up at him and nodded as he leaned down gently pressing his soft lips against hers.
Raelyn watched as Sam and Dean drove off in the Impala. She walked back to her room and tried to focus on finishing her newest set of rewrites from her publisher. After a few hours of struggling to work on her manuscript she decided to go down to the shooting range and let off some steam. As soon as they came back from Chicago, Dean started training her how to handle guns, knives and to fight. He wanted her to be able to protect herself though he always reassured her that she would not need to because he would always be there. She put on her noise cancelling headphones and picked up the Glock 19 loading the clip into it. She took the safety off and aimed down at the target. The first few shots she missed the target but the next few after she hit center mass.
She felt her phone vibrate in her back pocket and quickly switched the safety back on. She set it down and picked up her phone. “Hey Sam.” She heard Dean ordering food in the background. “Hey Raelyn, we are stopping for the night in Sioux Falls. Just wanted to see how you were doing.” She chuckled as she unloaded the clip in her gun and set it back in its case. “I’m alright. Just spent some time down in the range since I got frustrated at my manuscript.” Sam snickered, “Please don’t tell me you shot at your manuscript.” She heard Dean in the back saying, “She what? Sammy, give me the phone.” She listened to them bicker and laughed as Dean wrestled the phone out of Sam’s hand. “Sweetheart, I know you have struggled with your writing but no reason to shoot at it.” She was laughing even harder now. “I wasn’t shoot at my manuscript. I was shooting at targets, but now that you mention it I wouldn’t mind shooting my manuscript.” Dean started laughing now. “Don’t shoot your manuscript. So, how’d you do with the target?” She pulled the target sheet forward so she could see it better, “Four solid shots center mass.” Raelyn could just see the proud smile on his face when he spoke, “That’s my girl! Raelyn, we have to go but I will chat with you later, okay?” She said goodbye and pulled the target sheet off.
She walked into Dean’s room and taped it to his wall circling her best shots. As she was about to leave she saw his closet door open. She looked inside and saw his flannels hanging up. He had a red and black buffalo pattern flannel that was her favorite that was hanging up. She took it off the hanger and slipped her arms in the sleeves and brought the collar up to her nose. Even though it was clean it still smelled like Dean. She kept the shirt on as she turned off his light and closed his door walking across the hall to her room. About an hour later Dean Facetime her as she was in bed writing in her journal. “Hey pretty boy all settled in?” she asked setting her phone up on its stand as she continued writing. “Yeah, all cozy at The Falls Motel. Raelyn, are you wearing my shirt?” Dean chuckled as she felt her face heat up. “Uh, maybe…” she said looking over at her phone to see Dean biting his bottom lip. “Hmm, looks much better on you than on me.” Raelyn rolled her eyes, “I beg to differ. What’s the plan to find Jack?” Dean explained what their plans were for the next day and Raelyn settled under her blanket listening to him talk. His husky baritone voice lulled her to sleep and the next thing she knew it was the next morning. She checked her phone seeing a goodnight text from Dean and decided to leave him be since she knew he would be working throughout most of the day.
For most of the day she was able to focus on her manuscript with only a few interruptions. Sam had texted her letting her know they found Jack and would call later with everything that happened. Around midnight, Raelyn was starting to get tired and she still had not heard from Sam or Dean. She texted them both and called Dean with no answers. She knew if Dean would sometimes Facetime her in the wee hours of the morning so she decided to go to sleep and put her phone ringer on loud. She woke up the next morning and checked her phone to see nothing from Sam and Dean. Trying to keep calm she decided to take a shower and eat breakfast before trying them again. She paced around the bunker waiting for them to call her. Finally, around five o’clock in the evening, Raelyn went into Dean’s room and looked for anything with Jody’s phone number in it. She found an old address book with her number and called her.
“Sheriff Jody Mills.” She answered. “Sheriff Mills, my name is Raelyn Nichols…” before she could get anything else out Jody spoke, “Raelyn! I’m so glad you called. Dean told us all about you when he was here. Have you heard from him or Sam recently?” Raelyn sat on Dean’s bed her knees suddenly weak. “No, that is why I was calling. I was hoping you had heard from them.” Jody sighed, “Not for a few days. Look, one of the girls I looked after, Claire Novak, is on her way here to help us look for Sam and Dean. Just stay at the bunker and I will call you as soon as I know anything.” Raelyn stood up walking into her room. “No, I’m coming up there. I can be of help.” She heard Jody chuckle, “Dean said you could be stubborn. Seriously, we have a whole group of hunters up here to look for Sam and Dean. I will save your phone number and you have my word I will call you with any information.” Raelyn sighed defeatedly. “Okay. The moment you know of anything…” Jody reassured her she would be the first person she called. Now Raelyn laid on her bed panic filling her entire body. That night she tossed and turned afraid to go to sleep in case she would miss a call from the boys or Jody. In the back of her mind she thought maybe Raymond could have something to deal with this but somehow, she knew he did not. It was well past four in the morning when she finally fell asleep.
The next couple of days were torture for Raelyn as she had not heard anything from Sam and Dean or Jody. She was getting ready to say screw it and drive up to Sioux Falls when her phone rang showing Dean’s number. “Dean?!” she answered. “I’m so sorry Raelyn.” Was all he said and she felt tears spring up. “You should’ve listen to me! What happened? Are you okay? Did you find Jack?” she was rambling. “I know, you’re right I should have listened to you. Sam and I will explain everything once we are back to the bunker. We are getting ready to leave Jody’s now. Just so you know, I told her not to call you when they found us. I wanted to call you myself so you could hear my voice and know I am okay.” Raelyn let out the sob she had been holding in. She tried to calm herself down but a few days’ worth of stress and panic was now flowing from her eyes. “I’m so sorry, sweetheart. We will be home soon I promise and you can kick my ass as soon as I get there.” She let out a small laugh, “You better believe it that I’m going to kick your ass. Be safe coming home.” Raelyn sighed a breath of relief after hanging up the phone with Dean.
When Sam and Dean got home, things were different with them. They both were a little more defeated especially Sam. He was staying in his room a lot more and sleeping throughout the morning. One morning as Dean was making pancakes Sam came walking in with someone on speaker phone. “Donna, tell Dean what you just told me.” Dean listened as Sheriff Donna Hanscum explained how her niece had gone missing and she needed help. “Donna send us the info and we’ll be there.” Dean said as Sam ended the call. Sam went back to his room as Dean sat down next to Raelyn. “I know it’s only been a week since we went to an alternate reality, but Donna is family.” Raelyn held her hand up, “Say no more, you need to go and help her. I will be fine. Just check in with me.” Dean kissed the top of her head, “Thank you for understanding.” She nodded as he left the kitchen. She said goodbye to them in the library as she worked on her research on Raymond. Dean checked in with Raelyn everyday he was gone.
About a week after they returned, Dean came into Raelyn’s room one afternoon as she was looking over her convention schedule coming up for the next year. “Hey, do you have a moment to talk?” he asked. She looked up from her laptop and nodded. Dean sat down on her bed, “I was wondering if you would like to go out on a date this Saturday night?” Raelyn smirked as she leaned back in her chair, “Would this be our redo date?” He chuckled, “Yeah it could be our redo date, but also, I know Valentine’s Day was kind of a bust so I would like to make that up to you as well.” Raelyn started laughing as Dean nervously rubbed the back of his neck. “A bust? You were under a love potion spell and obsessed with a skinny witch.” Dean let out a groan as his head hung low. “Well at least I didn’t marry her unlike Sam who ended up marrying super fan Becky.” Raelyn doubled over laughing remembering when she read that in the Supernatural novel. “Alright pretty boy, we can go out on a date on Saturday.” The bright smile on Dean’s face melted Raelyn’s heart. “Awesome! Be ready at six o’clock.” Raelyn nodded as she turned back around to her laptop. She heard Dean shout out a loud yes as he walked through the hallway causing her to giggle.
Late Saturday afternoon, Raelyn started getting ready for her date with Dean. Not knowing what they were doing she decided on a simple pair of skinny jeans with her knee-high boots. She wore a simple olive-green blouse and pinned back her wavy curls so they were over her right shoulder. She decided not to wear any make-up except for a bit of lip gloss. She grabbed a black sweater as she heard Dean knock on her door. She opened it to see him holding flowers, “Miss Nichols, for you.” She took the variety of carnations, daisies and pink roses. “Thank you, Mr. Winchester. I need to find a vase for these and put them in water before we leave.” Dean followed her to the kitchen where she found a container large enough for the flowers that would work until she bought a vase. As she put them on the table in the library Dean held out his arm to her. “You look beautiful tonight.” She blushed giving him a once over, “Not too bad yourself, pretty boy.” Dean was wearing his black jeans with a white under shirt and a dark maroon button-down shirt. However, it was his shoes that she noticed the most. “Dean, are you wearing Converse?” He looked down at his traditional black Converse and wiggled his foot. “I wanted to see what all the fuss was about with them. You are always talking about how amazing they are so I went and got a pair today.” She pushed up on her toes and kissed his cheek. He smiled down at her, “I guess you approve then.” She nodded as they walked to the garage.
Dean took her to a nice Italian restaurant and then a late showing of Raelyn’s favorite horror movie in a local theater. They were walking back to the car after the movie holding hands and laughing about the movie. “Nothing says romance like Michael Meyers killing people.” Dean said as she laughed. “Hey, we could have seen that Fifty Shades movie because you know hardcore sex is so romantic.” Dean’s face perked up, “Yeah, I would have never made it through that movie. Really, hardcore sex?” Raelyn nodded, “Eh, for the most part. It’s an erotic novel that has sold billions of copies.” Dean hummed his response and as they reach the Impala he opened the door for her. She knew he was curious if she had read the books and just did not want to ask her. “Yes Dean, I have read erotic novels before. Several of them actually.” His traditional Winchester smirk came across his face. “Hmm, good to know.” She chuckled as she got into the car. Raelyn slid over next to Dean in the Impala as he drove back towards the bunker. She was resting her head on his shoulder as his hand was on her thigh. He drove past the exit for the bunker and Raelyn lifted her head. “Where are we going?” Dean smiled, “You’ll see.”
Dean made a few more turns and was driving down a gravel road into an open field. He shut off the car and helped her out of it. He shrugged off his jacket placing it over her shoulders, “Wait here for just a second.” She nodded as he went to the trunk. She looked up seeing an amazing display of stars. She slipped her arms into the sleeves of his jacket and she heard Dean shut the trunk. She smiled when she watched him lay out a blanket for them in front of the Impala. Raelyn sat down first and Dean sat behind her with his legs on either side of her. Raelyn leaned her back against him and he wrapped his arms around her waist. They spent several minutes silently staring up into the night sky watching the stars shining bright. “So, how was my redo date? Did it make up for the worst date ever?” Raelyn looked over to him nodding happily. “Definitely. This has been the perfect date, Dean.” He leaned down and gently kissed her. “Good.” He said and looked back up at the stars.

Writing Your Story: Chap. 8 - Raelyn Taylor Nichols
Tumblr media
Summary: Raelyn tells Sam, Dean and Castiel all about the house she grew up in and tells them why the demon specifically wants her. Characters: Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, Castiel and Raelyn Nichols (OFC) Pairing: Dean X Raelyn (OFC) Warnings: Fluff/Angst, Verbal Abusive, Protective/Sensitive Dean (Yes I think that needs to be a warning. All The Feels!)  Word Count: 3048 A/N: This chapter is personal to me. A lot of the verbal abuse Raelyn goes through in this chapter is directly from my own childhood. Some of the comments made towards Raelyn are direct quotes from my father when I was a kid. I feel sharing my experiences is the best form of therapy. As always this is unbeta so all mistakes are mine. Likes, comments and reblogs are humbling and I will love you especially for them! Enjoy!
Raelyn spent the next week in the bunker hardly leaving her room. She was barely sleeping or eating. Sam and Dean would check in on her asking if she wanted to help them research or go out on a supply run. She always declined with the best smile she could muster up. Most nights when Raelyn would fall asleep she always saw Raymond’s face and she would wake screaming. Dean would rush in from his room, now leaving their doors open all the time. He would lay next to her until she calmed down and then she would tell him that he could leave that she was fine. Two weeks after she was taken, Raelyn was passing by the library and overheard Sam and Dean talking about her.
“I can’t take it anymore, Sam. I’m going to go in there and drag her out and drive her far away.” Dean’s frustrated voice broke her heart. “Dean, that’s not the way to get through to her. You need to be patient with her and let her cope in her own time. She will come to us when she is ready.” Her and Sam had many conversations about their own experiences with depression and if anyone knew how she was feeling it was him. “I just feel like there is something else going on with her. More so than getting kidnap by a hybrid monster.” Raelyn took a few steps closer and peeked around the corner. Sam and Dean were sitting at one of the large wooden tables. Their backs were to her and Raelyn watched as Dean ran his hand through his hair. “What do you mean Dean?” Sam turned slightly to face him and Raelyn ducked back into her hiding place. “I don’t know how to explain it. I just know there is something more going on within Raelyn than she is telling anyone. I think Cas knows what it is but she doesn’t want him to tell us. Damn it! I don’t like being left out of the loop and sounding like some dramatic hormonal teenager!” He slammed his fist onto the table causing Raelyn to jump slightly. She decided she had heard enough and walked back to her room.
The next morning, she found the brothers in the kitchen eating breakfast. They had not noticed her in the doorway. “Good morning boys.” She said startling them both. She quietly chuckled as she sat down next to Dean who was eating a bowl of Frosted Flakes. “Well good morning, Missy Miss.” He said to her with his mouth full. Sam handed her a banana and a cup of yogurt, “Nice to see you up and about, Raelyn.” She nodded taking a few bites of her breakfast. “I want to thank you both for not pushing me to talk or anything. I know I haven’t been very social and frankly a pain in the ass. I appreciate you both letting me deal with everything in my own time, so thanks.” Sam gave Dean a knowing look and he snarled his nose up at him. “That being said, as long as you guys don’t have a case, I would like to travel somewhere with you both. There are some things I need to explain and I want to show you a place that is the center point of it all for me. I already called Cas and he will meet is where we are going.” Dean placed his hand on top of hers giving it a gently squeeze. “Anything you need us to do then we are there. When do you want to leave?” Raelyn could feel tears coming up threatening to fall. She truly was appreciative of Sam and Dean being understanding of her and she felt guilty for not telling them the complete truth. “How about in an hour. We are going to St. Louis where I grew up.” Saying it out loud caused nerves in Raelyn’s stomach to start churning.
The three of them drove the eight hours from the bunker to Raelyn’s hometown of Mehlville, Missouri. It was a quiet picture-perfect neighborhood. Raelyn directed them down a windy road to a long drive with a for sale sign up. Dean parked the Impala in front of the three-car garage and the boys looked up gawking at the gorgeous two-story house. They all got out of the car walking up the walkway meeting Castiel on the porch. “Raelyn, you grew up here?” Dean asked astonished as she nodded at him. “Can one of you get us inside?” Sam and Dean looked down at her amused as Dean took out his lock pick kit and opened the front door. Once inside Raelyn looked around room from room memories of her childhood running through her mind. Watching Sam, Dean and Castiel look around was amusing for her as they commented on how amazing the house was. She knew that would be their reaction knowing how they grew up and it was important that they felt that awestruck feeling before she began telling them her story.
Raelyn led them upstairs and into a large bedroom off to the left. There were two large windows facing the backyard. “This was my bedroom.” Raelyn stated flatly. Sam looked out the windows and noticed something odd about them. “Raelyn, these windows don’t open?” She shook her head, “No, they don’t. They are sealed shut so I could never sneak out.” Sam’s expression was hard to read between sad and bewildered. “I wanted you all to see this home, see this town because the way you’re seeing now is how everyone saw it. The perfect little town, perfect little kids, perfect family with the perfect house. I’m going to tell you about what happened behind all the perfection but I needed you to see what everyone else saw before you saw it through my eyes.” Raelyn sat on the floor and the boys all followed doing the same.
“Jeremy and Dana Nichols adopted me when I was a few weeks old. All I knew of my birth mother was that she did not want me and I was never to ask about her. My early childhood was normal and great. I played with the kids on my street, rode my bike down to my best friend’s house and was always home when the street light came on.” Sam and Dean share a sad look between them and she knew it was hard for them to hear about someone having a normal childhood. “When I was ten years old, I began puberty and my dad didn’t quite know how to deal with losing his little girl. I was wanting to spend more time with my mom and friends than with him. He grew jealous and would lash out at me.” The memory of the first time overwhelmed Raelyn.
She could not hear him stomping up the stairs since she was listening to her brand-new Backstreet Boys cd. Their music was the only thing that kept her sane lately. “RAELYN TAYLOR NICHOLS!” Her dad screamed as he plowed through the door. She ripped off her headphones quickly and sat quietly looking down at her hands. “Are you going to sit up here all day, young lady? There are chores that need to be done and your sitting your lazy butt in your room. If you don’t ever move then you’ll always be a pig like you are right now. Now GO!” he yelled at her as she quickly got up walking downstairs. Her dad watched as she mowed the grass in the front and back yards. She pulled all the weeds growing around the house. She only came inside when she had cut a chunk out of her finger and was bleeding. “You should be more careful, Raelyn. You’re not dumb so work smarter not harder.” Once she was done and her mom was home she was able to retreat back to her room, but not before over hearing her parents talking. “Raelyn needs to get her act in order. She has changed a lot over this last year and her grades are slipping. I won’t have a stupid, stubborn, slob of a daughter in this house. That is not what I signed up for when we adopted her.”
“My dad was tough on me to get good grades and to look my best always. As I got older, he became stricter on me.” Raelyn paused to push back to the emotions starting to bubble up. “When I was fifteen I was diagnosed with depression and my dad saw that as a weakness or a flaw. He didn’t understand that chemically my brain wasn’t functioning correctly like normal people. Since I wasn’t living up to his perfect ideal daughter he took it out on me verbally. I had kids in my therapy group tell me how easy I had it with my dad only verbally abusing me and I would get angry with them. Eventually, their bruises would go away and they would not have to see the evidence of their abuse. I’m not saying the physical abuse is better than any other abuse because it’s not. The words my dad would said to me or call me are seared into my mind and I hear them every day.” Dean scooted closer to her and started rubbing her back as tears silently fell down her cheeks.
Raelyn nervously walked into her house after group therapy. Her therapist suggested writing her dad a letter letting him know how she felt when he would call her names. Being thirteen and standing up to her dad was intimidating. As soon as she was seated on the couch she heard her him storming through the house. “How dare you! You, ungrateful pig! How dare you write me a letter telling me how I treat you is upsetting you. How dare you blame your sickness and weakness on me! If you were a better child then you wouldn’t have this issue. Don’t put your flaws on me because if you would just be the way I want you then you would be perfect! But, you’re not! You’re a fat, lazy, spoiled-rotten, worthless piece of trash! I wish I could just take you back to the adoption agency and get a new daughter because your broken and useless!” Raelyn sat there taking her verbal lashing silently. She did not speak a word or shed a tear. Once her dad had left the house to cool off her mom turned to her and said, “What did you expect to happen, Raelyn? You shouldn’t have done that.”
“I vowed after that day that I would never speak of my feelings again.” She looked from each of the three men sitting with her and they all had different emotions on their faces. Castiel looked sympathetic almost like an adorable cat who knew she was upset. Sam had tears running down his face knowing what it was like to have a dad who was always disappointed. It was Dean’s face that shocked her the most though. Dean’s cheeks were red and his knuckles were white from him clenching his fist tightly. He was gritting his teeth and breathing heavily. He was angry and she could not figure out why. She suddenly felt like she was back in the moment seeing her dad’s face red with anger and she began to tremble slightly. “Dean, calm down. You’re scaring her.” Sam said softly as Dean looked over to her seeing her hands trembling. “Please, don’t be mad…” Raelyn’s voice was small like a child’s. “I know I had a better upbringing than most and I am grateful for all they provided me.” She rambled out before he pulled her next to him wrapping his arms around her. “Sweetheart, I would never be mad at you for what that bastard said to you. You are the opposite of everything he ever called you. Just in the last few months of knowing you we all feel that you are a bright light in a dark world and you probably fart rainbows too.” Raelyn started giggling through her tears as Sam and Castiel chuckled. Raelyn looked up at Dean and kissed his cheek gently. She loved the feeling of a few days scruff scratching her lips. “Thank you and no I don’t fart rainbows. Come on, I want to show you all my special spot.”
Raelyn lead them out of the house and through a clearing in the backyard. Behind Raelyn’s childhood home was a large cliff overlooking the Meramec River. “Whenever things would get bad at home I would sneak out here at night with my headphones and journal. I would write and write until my fingers were so cold they would hurt. Eventually, my dad thought I would sneak out to meet boys so he sealed my windows shut but I always was able to sneak out of the house to come here. This place was a reminder that one day I would get out of here and do whatever I wanted to do. This was my place of hope and inspiration.” She explained as they all looked out to the sun setting reflecting over the water. Dean put his arm around her waist and rested his head on top of hers and Sam grabbed her hand holding it gently. “This spot is beautiful just like you are.” Dean whispered bring a radiating smile to her face. They started to walk back to the Impala when Sam ask, “Raelyn, was there a particular reason for the trip down memory lane?” She nodded, “Let’s get to a motel and I will explain.” Castiel rode in the backseat with Raelyn as Dean drove to the nearest motel.
They all settled into the room and Raelyn sat down in front of the brothers. “The man who took me is The Hooded Man from my nightmares.” Sam and Dean looked at one another as if a light bulb had gone off. “That makes some sense, djinn put you in a dream state but how is he infiltrating your dreams?” Sam asked. “I’m not exactly sure but I think it has to do with the connection he has with me…” She trailed off for a moment as the brothers looked at her waiting. “The Hooded Man is my twin brother.” Sam and Dean’s shocked faces were almost funny if she was not also scared to death of their reactions. “I’m sorry, you’re what?” Dean asked as Sam let out the breath he had been holding. Castiel walked over standing beside Raelyn as she told Sam and Dean everything. “His name is Raymond Tyler Carter and he is my twin brother. Apparently, our mother was a drug addict who ended up sleeping with a man who was only half djinn making Raymond a quarter djinn. When our mother gave us up for adoption we were split up. He grew up in a horrible home where he resent everybody who made his life a living hell and that includes me. He is out for revenge which is why he is after me.” Raelyn went on to explain how he was also part demon and how the demon could take over whenever Raymond felt like giving up control.
Sam and Dean sat there stunned for a moment. “How does you being his twin connect with him being in your nightmares.” Castiel spoke up for the first time, “Twins are known for having a special connection or bond with one another. Since Raymond and Raelyn are supernatural twins then their bond may be greater than human twins.” Dean now stood up to pace nervously, “Does that make Raelyn part djinn as well?” He asked as Raelyn shook her head. “I don’t think I am. Raymond asked me if I had any powers because it seems whatever Chuck did to me in order for me to see your lives is affecting Raymond’s abilities to get into my dreams. Everything that happened at the Masquerade Gala, I dreamt about before it happened.” Sam snapped his head up to Dean, “You’re having visions?” Raelyn shrugged as Castiel nodded. “God gave her prophet like abilities but strictly focused on your lives. She can see what has happened and what could happen. At times, it can change depending on decisions made by the people involved.” Raelyn sighed, “That’s why when I was captured the scene played out differently.” Dean looked her silently asking the question he was thinking, “In my nightmare, I saw…” Thinking about it made her stomach roil, “I saw Raymond kill Dean in front of me. He said he was doing it for me because I ruined his life.” She sniffled trying to hold back her tears and Dean sat next to her on the bed. “It’s okay. I’m fine, remember?” She nodded.
Sam, Dean and Castiel started discussing a game plan to take care of Raymond. Even though, Raelyn knew he was a monster who needed to be taken care of a wave of guilt washed over her. She put her head in her hands as all her emotions were overwhelming her all at once. Telling them all about her past and then about Raymond was proving to be a little much for her. “We need to get back to the bunker to see if we can even kill this son of a bitch like we would a full demon or full djinn.” Dean turned around seeing Raelyn slouched over. Castiel placed a calming hand on her back and she sat up, “I’m okay. I promise, I’m okay. Just all of this is overwhelming and the thought of killing my twin brother is bothering me more than I thought it would.” Sam and Dean came to her side crouching down. “We know this will be tough for you and we will try to be as sympathetic as we can but Raelyn…” Sam stopped as she nodded, “I know. He’s a monster and he’s a danger to me and others.” Sam nodded, “Right now, we need information. We won’t do anything without discussing it with you first, okay?” Raelyn nodded standing up as the brothers stood. “Okay, let’s get back to the bunker and see what we can find.”

Writing Your Story - Masterlist
Tumblr media
Overall Summary: Sam and Dean Winchester find out someone is continuing to write the Supernatural book series after Chuck left with Amara. When they meet the author, Raelyn Nichols, everyone’s worlds are turned upside down by a mysterious Hooded Man. Will the Winchesters be able to keep Raelyn safe or will the ending be bloody like they always thought their stories would be? Characters: Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, Castiel and Raelyn Nichols (OFC) Pairing: Dean X Raelyn (OFC) Warnings: Mostly fluff, a pinch of angst, a sprinkling of suspense A/N: This is my first attempt at a series (and I’m extremely nervous about this). I know reader inserts are the popular choice, but I feel like I have a hard time writing those so I chose to write an original character that I hope everyone will enjoy reading. I am going to try and update this series weekly, as long as, I can keep ahead in writing chapters. As I post chapters I will update this masterlist so feel free to reblog the crap out of it. Not that it needs to be said (well because I think my writing is 90% crap) please do you not copy and post my writing as your own. As all writers, I worked hard on this and would love to have credit towards my own work. Headers: All of my headers I made myself but I do NOT own any of the images. I found them all on the Google so if you see an image you know who made it please let me know so I can give proper credit. Thanks!
**I want to say special thank you to a few people who have encouraged me to post my writing on here: @rosethesupernaturalhunter @carryonmywaywardcaptain @waywardbaby
Chapter Listing
Chapter One – Took You Long Enough Summary: Raelyn Nichols meets the characters from her books the famous Winchester Brothers.
Chapter Two – Nightmare (COMING ON: 03/31/2018) Summary: Raelyn wakes up from a nightmare and cannot shake the haunting figure. Calling on her angel friend to help her try and forget the horrible hooded man.

Writing Your Story: Chap. 13 - Only Tonight
Tumblr media
Summary: Raelyn and Dean take a romantic weekend trip to get away from everything dealing with the Hooded Man.   Characters: Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, Castiel and Raelyn Nichols (OFC) Pairing: Dean X Raelyn (OFC) Warnings: Fluff/implied smut/adorable boyfriend Dean (yes it’s a warning) Word Count: 4140 A/N: I hope you all are ready for some adorable, loving, romantic Dean and Raelyn action! This chapter will probably rot some people’s teeth and I’m not sorry about it. After this chapter be prepared for all the angst! As always this is unbeta so all mistakes are mine. Likes, comments and reblogs are splendid and I will love you doubly for them! Enjoy!
When they told Sam and Castiel that they were going to take a weekend trip alone they were more than supportive. “I think that’s a great idea. Cas and I will keep on the Raymond mission.” Dean shook his head. “Sammy, we all need to take a break even if you take one day but go do whatever it is you do for fun. Poetry reading, all night bender playing Dungeons and Dorks, anything fun.” Sam rolled his eyes at Dean as Raelyn chuckled. “Well there is a convention in St. Louis this weekend that I would love to go too.” Dean smacked Sam on the back, “There you go! Have fun with all the nerds.” Raelyn and Sam glared at him as he held his hands up, “No offense. Nerds are awesome.” Raelyn smirked and kissed him on the cheek, “Much better pretty boy.” Dean smiled proudly as Raelyn walked towards her room.
Dean spent an entire day planning out their weekend trip and would not tell Raelyn any of the details. “How am I supposed to pack?” she asked as he was sitting on her bed with his laptop. “I’ll pack for you.” Raelyn turned her computer chair around, “Winchester, you are not going through my underwear drawer.” He glanced up biting his lip in thought and then smiled, “That is a thought, but I will let you pack the undergarments.” He chuckled as Raelyn went back to the article she was reading about the connection between twins. Ever since they all agreed to take a weekend off the atmosphere in the bunker had lighten up. After the last nightmare with Raymond, Raelyn focused on the connection between twins instead of trying to find something on hybrid monsters. Something deep down inside her nagged at her that the answer was more about their connection and not about him being a monster. She ran her hand over her new scar on her arm. Luckily, the cut on her cheek healed nicely without any scarring, but her arm was not so lucky.
On Thursday afternoon, Dean was packing the Impala for their trip as she was packing her laptop bag. The only way Dean was allowing her to bring her laptop was for her to work on her manuscript. She was getting ready to walk out of her room when Castiel came in. “Hello Raelyn.” She looked up as she slung her bag over her shoulder. “Hey Cas, what’s up?” Castiel held out a box with a blue bow on top of it. “This is for you. I know you love to take pictures and the man in the electronics store said this is the popular option.” Raelyn smiled as she opened the box for the Polaroid Snap camera. “Cas, this is amazing. Thank you.” She hugged Castiel as he stood there awkwardly. “Uh, Cas, this is when you hug back.” He chuckled slightly as he stiffly hugged her back. She let go him and went to her desk pulling out an extra micro SD card and inserting it into the camera. “Wait.” She said as Castiel was walking out of her room. She stood next to Cas and put his arm around her shoulders, “Smile!” She pointed the camera at them snapping a picture. The picture printed out and she started laughing. “You look constipated, Cas.” He cocked his head to one side, “I do not feel restricted in any way.” She rolled her eyes as she placed the picture of them on her desk.
“Do you have everything?” Dean asked her as she walked into the garage with Castiel. “Sure do! Look what Cas got me for our trip.” She showed Dean the camera as he smiled down at her. “That’s really cool. Okay, let’s get this show on the road. We have a day’s drive ahead of us.” Raelyn sighed, “A whole day of driving. Jeez…” She hugged Sam goodbye and they took off out of the garage. They had been driving for a few minutes when Dean glanced over to Raelyn, “Will you play your mix playlist?” he asked. Raelyn smiled pulling out her Bluetooth speaker sitting it between her and Dean. “What song do you want to hear first?” She asked as Dean raised his eyebrows at her. She scrolled through until she found the song he always wanted to listen too.
As soon as it started playing she heard him humming along. “Why do you like this song so much?” she asked as she stretched her legs out across the seat resting her feet up against his thighs. “I think of you every time I hear it and that makes me happy.” Raelyn felt a fluttering in her stomach that bubbled up into light giggling. “Wow, Dean Winchester I never thought you would be so sappy.” Dean pointed a finger at her, “Don’t you dare write that in your Supernatural books. This is our little secret.” Raelyn started laughing and leaned forward sticking out her pinky finger, “I promise I will never write about how the great Dean Winchester is just an ole lovable sap.” He hooked his pinky with hers and smiled.
During their twenty-four drive Dean stopped at every little tourist site they passed. Raelyn would take pictures of them with her new camera and place the prints in her journal. They stopped in Utah to sleep for a bit before making the rest of the trip out west. Raelyn repeatedly asked where they were going and Dean would not give her anything. “You’ll see.” Was all he kept saying to her. When they hit the California state line Raelyn drifted off to sleep. A few hours later, Dean shook her shoulder and she slowly opened her eyes. “Come on sleeping beauty time to wake up.” The smell of salt water overwhelmed her nose and the calming sounds of waves flooded the car. She looked out over the dashboard to see the sun starting to set over ocean. She looked over to Dean grinning from ear to ear. “Raelyn Nichols, welcome to Santa Cruz, California.” She jumped out of the car excitedly and ran over to the railing looking out. They were parked outside a nice hotel called the Sea and Sand Inn which was near the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. She watched as people walked up and down the boardwalk and families sat together on the beach.
She felt Dean’s arms wrap around her waist and she leaned back against him. “What do you think?” She turned in his arms interlocking her fingers behind his neck. “I love it, Dean. Thank you.” She pushed herself up kissing him. She felt him smile against her lips and his hands traveled down the small of her back and resting on the back pockets of her jeans. He pulled away from her and gently kissed her forehead, “Come on, let’s get check into our room and plan our evening.” Dean smacked her butt as he let go of her walking towards the back of the Impala. “Pretty boy, what did I tell you about smacking my ass?!” she shouted as he started laughing. “I believe it was in the bar when you told me that would be the only time I’d get away with smacking you ass, but I believe I just did it again.”
He was carrying both their bags as she slung her laptop bag over her shoulder. “You’re lucky I like you and you’re handsome.” He gave her a cheesy smile and laced their fingers together. Raelyn could not believe the beautiful view from their room. Raelyn stepped out on their balcony letting the breeze from the ocean sweep over her. She closed her eyes breathing in the smell of the beach feeling all the tension release from her body. She heard Dean walk out next to her, “So, tonight is your night. Anything you want to do we will.” He rested his forearms against the railing looking out to the ocean, “What would you like to do gorgeous?” She thought for a moment, “A date of my choice?” Dean nodded and she smiled. “Then I know exactly what I want to do.” She bit her bottom lip and looked up at him from under her dark lashes.
“This is not what I had imagine you wanting to do on your perfect date.” Dean said as he went from rack to rack trying to find a bowling ball that would fit his large hands. Raelyn laughed as she found a bowling ball that was the right weight for her. “Consider yourself lucky that I don’t have my own equipment with me.” Dean stopped and looked over at her curiously. “Your own equipment? As in…” She walked over putting the bowling ball on the ball return. “As in I have my own bowling balls, shoes the whole thing.” Dean pursed his lips together trying not to laugh. He put the ball he found next to hers. “Think that’s funny Winchester? Care to wager a bet?” Dean looked up at her as he sat down tying his bowling shoes.
A cocky smirk coming across his gorgeous face, “What did you have in mind?” Raelyn finished putting on her shoes and started putting their names in the computer. “If I win then we go down to the Boardwalk and we play every game they have. Also, ride all the rides I want.” Dean tilted his head from side to side slightly thinking, “Okay and if I win?” Raelyn stood in front of him in between his legs. His hands went up to her hips as she ran her hands through his hair. She leaned down and whispered, “I will give you what you want most from me.” Dean’s eyes went wide as he sucked in a quick breath. Raelyn licked her bottom lip as he stared at her lips, “I’ll make you my grandma’s famous cherry pie.” She started giggling seeing his reaction and stepping away from him. He narrowed his eyes on her, “You’re on.”
Dean was still grumbling as they were walking back to the hotel from a few hours at the boardwalk. Raelyn was blissfully skipping alongside him holding a large stuffed tiger he had won at a shooting game. “You didn’t play fair. If I had known you were a damn professional bowler I would have never made that bet.” Raelyn hooked her arm with Dean’s, “I’m not a professional bowler. I just so happen to have bowled on a league and a few competitions for all of my youth and well into adulthood.” Dean shook his head as they walked up to their room and unlocked the door. Raelyn set her tiger on the couch as Dean flopped down onto the bed. “So, what is the plan for tomorrow?” she asked as she went through the clothes Dean had packed for her.
“Well I figured we would hit the beach for a little while go swimming in the ocean since I’ve never done that before. Relax and then take you shopping for something to wear tomorrow night on our date.” Dean looked over at her as she looked through her bag again. “Dean, you didn’t pack my swimming suit?” Dean looked up at her with a smirk and wiggled his eyebrows. She looked at him seriously as he chuckled, “I couldn’t find it when I was packing so I figured we could go get one.” Raelyn sighed and sat down on the bed. She felt Dean sitting up as the bed shifted. “What’s wrong?” She sighed shaking her, “It’s nothing. Don’t worry about it.” She got up but Dean caught her wrist. “Raelyn, what is it?” She looked down at him, “It’s… I can’t just go into any store and find a swimsuit. I’m not small like normal girls.” Dean got up and walked over to towards her. She was trying hard not to let her insecurities show but by the look on Dean’s face she was failing. She shivered when Dean placed his hands on her hips. “Raelyn, you don’t have to be embarrassed or self-conscience around me. I’m attracted to you just as you are. If you don’t find a swimsuit then we can just buy a shirt and shorts for you to swim in.”
Raelyn rolled her eyes and surprisingly her anger flared. “Yeah because that is exactly what a girl wants to wear when going to the beach with her boyfriend. A baggy shirt and shorts. So sexy Dean.” Raelyn pushed past him going outside on the balcony. She did not know why she reacted so harshly. He was trying to plan a romantic day for them and she was ruining it. Her insecurities always popped up at the wrong times. She heard the door open and Dean’s arms wrapped around her as he rested his chin on her shoulder. He slid his arms back to run his hands across her stomach. She felt his soft lips leaving a trail of kisses down her cheek to under her ear. “Dean…” He shushed her as he continued kissing down her neck. His hands moved down to his hips then slipping under her shirt. His rough hands slid up her curvy sides to her ribs and back down around to her stomach.
As he kissed his way back up her neck he let out a small moan setting shivers down her body. “Raelyn, it doesn’t matter if you’re in a sexy outfit, baggy sweats or a swimsuit. I think your gorgeous no matter what. You’re smart, sassy, funny and one of the most caring people I have ever met.” She sighed relishing in his touch, but she turned in his arms to face him. Dean kept his hands under her shirt running his calloused fingers down her spine. She rested her hands on his firm arms. “Dean, I know I’m not the prettiest girl and I know my personality makes up for it. I just…” His lips came crashing down on hers rough. Pressing his hands against her back bringing fleshed against him. His expert mouth moved against her as she moved her hands up to grip his shoulders. He pulled away taking a few deep breaths.
“It wasn’t your personality that attracted me to you, Raelyn. As much as I would love to be the guy who tells you it wasn’t your looks but I can’t. The moment my eyes laid on your sweetheart face, killer curves and amazing ass of yours I wanted you. At first, I was fine with getting with you any way I could, but then you ran your smart mouth. For the first time I wanted something more and then Cas told us we were soulmates. I knew, I knew he was telling the truth and it scared the holy hell out of me.” Raelyn stared up at him in disbelief. “When I say your beautiful, gorgeous or whatever I mean all of you. Physically and personality you are the sexiest woman I have ever been with.” He slipped his hands out of her shirt and rested them back on her hips. “Dean?” she asked and he nodded. “Thank you.” He smiled down at her and place a chastised kiss on her lips. “Come on, let’s get ready for bed and watch a movie.”
The next morning, Raelyn woke up her head resting on Dean’s chest. Her arm was wrapped around his stomach and her leg was resting across his waist. She looked up at him a couple days’ worth of stubble darkening his chin and chiseled jaw. She gently ran the tips of her fingers along his jaw causing him to shift slightly. His arm tightened around her back and his other hand gripped her thigh. She slowly reached over him grabbing her phone and snapped a picture of him sleeping. “No pictures before bacon and coffee.” She giggled feeling his chest rumble as Dean spoke. “Then I guess we better get up and going.” She went to move and Dean held her against him. “Five more minutes. We’re not in a rush.” Raelyn laid her head back down on his chest for a moment, “You know the sooner you get up the sooner we can go out and I can model off dresses and swimsuits for you.” She watched Dean’s eyes snap open and he flew off the bed leaving her face first in the mattress laughing.
Raelyn could not think of a more fun day she had than spending the day with Dean. They went shopping in the local mall which Dean was stalked by the ladies in Lane Bryant as Raelyn picked out a dress and swimsuit. They had gone into American Eagle to grab Dean a pair of trunks where she learned that Dean had a jealous side from a worker hitting on her. “Back off or I’ll break your nose.” Dean said as he came out of the dressing room scaring the crap out the poor guy. They went back to their room for an early lunch where they changed into their swimsuits. They walked down to the beach and Dean laid out a blanket for them to lay on. “Wanna go in the water with me?” he asked and she shook her head. “I’m going to relax here for a while and read my book. You go ahead.” She watched Dean kick off his shoes and pull his shirt over his head. Seeing him stand there like a model. He ran down to the water and jumped right in.
Anyone who would see him now would never know that he had battled monsters, was a demon for a while, went to hell and saved the world countless times. He was strong, badass hunter who at the current moment was acting like a big kid in the ocean. After several minutes he ran back up to her and she looked up at him over her sunglasses. His chest was glistening from the ocean water and his blond hair on his head shined from the sun. “Raelyn, come play with me in the ocean.” She chuckled at his whiny tone. She stood up and took off her cover-up revealing her royal blue tankini top and black swim shorts. She bent over setting her sunglasses on her book and heard Dean whisper, “Damn.” She glanced over to see him checking out her butt. “Like the view?” She asked standing up. Suddenly, Dean swoop her up over his shoulder and carried her down to the water. “You have no idea, sweetheart.” He swatted her butt making her yelp.
After a couple of hours at the beach and swimming they went back to their hotel to relax before the date Dean had planned. As Dean slept, Raelyn worked on her manuscript out on the balcony. Everything that had happened this trip she wrote in her manuscript to show Dean how she saw him. She knew all of them had low opinions of themselves and she wanted them to see themselves through her eyes. How much she admired their strength, their character and how normal they could be. That having a normal life and being a hunter was possible for them. With her earbuds in and being so focused on writing she did not hear Dean come outside and only noticed when his hand was waving in front of her. She pulled out her earbuds out, “Sorry…” she trailed off her eyes ran down his body. He was standing there in only a pair of red and black gym shorts with his hair sticking up wildly from sleeping. “Stop gawking. Come on it’s time to get ready for our date.” She saved her document and shut down her laptop. “I’ll stop gawking when you do pretty boy.” She got up going inside leaving him chuckling.
After taking a shower, doing her hair and adding some make-up to her sun kissed face she walked out in the black dress she bought earlier. Dean was waiting for her on the couch. “Alright, I’m ready to go.” She said as Dean turned off the TV and stood up. He licked his bottom lip as he approached her. Raelyn could not believe this was the same Dean Winchester who has flannel collection lumberjacks would envy. There he stood in dress shoes and slacks, crisp white button-down shirt with the first few buttons undone and a navy jacket. He twirled a strand of her hair as he looked her over. “Raelyn, you look beautiful in that dress.” She blushed as she leaned up and kissed him quickly. “Thank you. Now let’s go because I’m hungry.” Dean chuckled motioning for her to lead the way.
Dean drove them to a little restaurant a little way down from their hotel. They ordered a bottle of wine and chatted. Raelyn loved that they could chatted about mindless things like ridiculous TV shows that Dean loved like Real Housewives of Atlanta. Dean shared stories about hunting as a kid and funny stories about Sam. They shared food of each other’s plates and shared a piece of pie together. After dinner they walked to a nearby bar that had a band playing. After a few drinks, Raelyn convince Dean to dance with her. The band was playing oldies music from the fifties and sixties which Raelyn loved since Morgan’s dad was in an oldies band since they first became friends. They laughed and danced the night away until the band played their last song.
As they walked back to the car, Dean put his jacket over Raelyn’s shoulders and carried her heels for her. Raelyn woke up as Dean was laying her down in bed. “Hey sleepy head, go back to sleep.” She looked up at Dean and grabbed his hand pulling him towards her. She curled her finger motioning him to come closer and as he leaned down she slipped her hand around to the back of his neck. She pulled him down his lips meeting hers. The scent of salt water and her perfume mixing together. She ran her tongue over his bottom lip and as he deepened the kiss she tasted his last whiskey he drank. One hand pulled his hair gently as the other grasped the back of his shirt. Dean shifted his body hovering over hers for a moment and then softly laying partially on top of her. Feeling his body pressed against hers was comforting and she needed to feel more of him. She tilted her head to one side as Dean started leaving little kisses down her neck. When he kissed the crook of her neck she let a soft moan out and she felt him smile against her skin. Raelyn pushed him up so he was sitting back on his legs and she stood up.
“Raelyn, I’m… sorry if…” She shook her head stopping him. He swung his legs over the edge of the bed and she stood between his legs looking down at him. She leaned down and kissed him for a moment before whispering against his lip, “Dean, I want this, but…” She leaned back as his hands traveled up her back as she started giggling, “You can’t exactly take off my dress if I’m lying on my back.” His smile was contagious and she felt him draw the zipper down her back. Slipping the straps off her shoulders she let the dress pool at her feet. Dean sucked in a breath as she stood there in a match black lacey bra and panty set. Suddenly she felt insecure and she wrapped her arms around her stomach. Dean quickly took her arms and pulled her on top of him. She squealed as she flew forward and bracing herself with her hands on either side of Dean’s head. Her long hair creating a curtain around them. “I told you, don’t be insecure about your body.”
His hands were on her hips and he bucked his against her. She went forward giggling, “Can you feel the kind of effect you have on me?” She nodded feeling her body heat up. He leaned up slightly and her breath hitched in her throat. His lips were barely touching hers when he said, “Raelyn, I want you.” That was all it took for her to press her lips against his. She started unbuttoning his shirt and pushing it off his shoulders. She started giggling again when he flipped her over onto the bed and he sat up pulling his undershirt over his head. He hovered over her as his hips pinned her to the bed. Dean kissed her forehead, the tip of her nose and her finally her lips as he hands started to undo his belt. “Are you sure, Raelyn?” he asked one final time. “More than anything.” She whispered as he kissed her again.

Raelyn was banging her head on one of the tables in the bunker library. Bang. Bang. Bang. Suddenly a large hand block her from doing it again. “Raelyn, are you okay?” She looked up to see Sam’s concerned hazel eyes. “It’s been weeks, Sam. Weeks?! Nothing on if we can kill Raymond, exorcise the demon or anything on how to deal with him.” Sam sat down next to her and push the books that were in front of her behind him. “Raelyn, go take a break. Go work on your manuscript. I know you have rewrites to do.” She sighed rubbing her forehead. Sam was right that she was behind on her manuscript rewrites and Eric was getting annoying about it. “Alright, alright. I will grab my laptop and bring it out here to work while...” Sam cut her off, “No Raelyn, either work in your room with your music obnoxiously loud or have Dean take you out somewhere to work on it. Either way, you are not allowed to sit in the library for twenty-four full hours.” Raelyn gasped and held her hands over her heart. “That hurts Winchester. That is just rude.” Sam chuckled as he pulled her up out of her chair and pushed her towards her room. “Go. Now.” He said as she waved him off.
Deciding that she would get more done in her room than having to try and entertain Dean while working somewhere else she started up her laptop at her desk. She was about to turn on her music when her phone started playing ‘Backstreet’s Back’ and Morgan’s face popped up. “My god woman, it’s like you’ve been gone forever!” Raelyn said as she heard Morgan start laughing. “I know Raelyn, but I have some big news to share with you.” Raelyn sat down on her bed. She figured that Morgan’s boyfriend had proposed to her since they had been dating since sophomore year of college. “Did Nick finally pop the question?” Morgan’s giggling confirmed to Raelyn that was what happened on their vacation. “Actually, while we were in Mexico we got married!” Raelyn snapped up, “You what?!” she shouted just as Dean was passing by her room. She looked over to him as he leaned against the door frame. She was listening to Morgan describe the small ceremony and how romantic it was. “Raelyn, we’re having a reception in Chicago and you have to come. Bring the hunk of a man you had at the Gala with you. I want to meet him and make sure he is good enough for you.” Raelyn rolled her eyes as Dean walked in sitting in her computer chair. “I don’t know if he can make it. He may have to work. Text me all the information and I will make sure I’m there. Just wow, I can’t believe you’re married now. I mean I always knew you and Nick would get married but… just wow. Congratulations.” Raelyn watched as Dean curiosity was becoming hard for him to handle. “Thank you, Raelyn. I’m glad you understand because my parents are having a fit. Anyway, I gotta go but we’ll see you next week at the reception and make sure you prepare a Maid of Honor speech. Love ya!”
Raelyn hung up the phone and flopped back onto her bed with her arm over her eyes. “I’m dying here. Come on, who was that?” Dean was bouncing like a school girl. “That was my best friend, Morgan. She was on a four-week vacation down in Mexico with her boyfriend, Nick.” Raelyn propped herself up on her elbows. “And…?” Dean prompted her. “And… they apparently got married. Which is great and I’m happy for her, but I always thought I would be her Maid of Honor during her ceremony. Go dress shopping with her and plan a bridal shower for her.” Which each thing Raelyn mentioned Dean’s face scrunched up and she started laughing. “At least I get to embarrass her with a Maid of Honor speech at her reception. I will have to go up to Chicago for that and I can stay in my condo overnight since it’s warded.” Raelyn’s phone chimed with a text from Morgan with all the details for the reception. “Of course, she is having the reception at The Metropolitan in the East Room. Next Saturday from five o’clock to eleven o’clock.” She sat up as Dean leaned forward on his knees, “Seems like you will need a date…” She shook her head as she kept reading Morgan’s text. “You don’t have to come with me…” She heard him sigh disappointedly and she glance up from her phone to see him frowning. “Dean, do you want to come with me to a wedding reception? I would assume this would be the last thing you would want to go too.”
Dean nervously ran his hands over his thighs, “I mean you’ll need one of us to go with you to make sure Raymond doesn’t come for you like he did at the gala. Plus, you know I never got to finish our dance and it would be cool to meet your friend.” Raelyn stared at him in shock. Dean’s shoulders slouched down in defeat as he got up and walked towards the door. “I get it if you don’t want me to go. I know I didn’t protect you the last time.” Raelyn got up and grabbed his hand, “First, it is not your fault I was kidnapped. Sam told me how you didn’t stop looking for me and how you fought off Raymond to rescue me. I never once even considered any of that your fault.” Dean looked like a fragile child as his eyes were down cast. Raelyn put her fingers under his chin lifting his head to have his eyes meet hers. “I really thought you wouldn’t even consider going because it’s a bunch of stuffy yuppies and Morgan. I would love it if you came with me and met Morgan even if she is going to grill you about everything in your life. Apparently, even in Mexico they got media news about the gala and saw us together.” Dean smiled at her making her weak in the knees. “I’m sure I can handle her. I was tortured in hell for forty years.” Raelyn laughed and patted him on the shoulder, “You’re gonna wish you were back in hell after dealing with her.” Raelyn turned around as she heard Dean scoff, “I got this.”
Days leading up to their trip to Chicago, Raelyn finished her rewrites making Eric extremely happy and she spoke with Morgan every day in order to help keep her sanity. Raelyn wrote her Maid of Honor speech and practiced with Sam as her audience. Friday afternoon, Dean was getting Baby ready for the trip to Chicago. “Maybe I should come along as well. I can easily do research from Raelyn’s condo while you two are at the reception.” Sam said as he carried Raelyn’s bag. “Sammy, it will be fine. This time I won’t let her out of my sight at all during the party. You stay here keep researching on the whole hybrid thing and the search for Jack. Check in on Cas since we haven’t heard from him.” Sam nodded as he put Raelyn’s bag in the trunk. Raelyn got in the Impala and watched as the brothers had a short exchange as Dean shut the trunk. She waved to Sam as they pulled out of the garage. “Everything okay?” she asked. Dean reached over turning on the radio, “Yeah, everything’s fine. Sam is a worry wart.” Raelyn nodded thinking nothing of it. As Dean drove through the night, Raelyn slept not having a single dream or nightmare in weeks. Raelyn woke up as Dean pulled into her parking garage with her pass card. Her feet were resting up against Dean’s thigh and she smirked thinking even unconscious she was drawn to him. Once they were up in her condo they both flopped onto her bed. Too tired to even change they fell asleep on top of the covers facing one another.
Raelyn’s alarm sounded at nine o’clock and a large hand reached over her smacking it off. Raelyn groaned as she felt a weight across her waist. Her eyes snapped opened suddenly aware she was in a vise grip of Dean Winchester’s. His head buried in the crook of her neck. His arm wrapped completely around her waist with his fingers tucked underneath her and his legs entangled with hers. She tried to move but his grip got tighter and he mumbled, “Five more minutes, please.” She chuckled nervously and placed her hand on top of his trying to force herself to relax. She heard him sigh contently and she finally laid back into his embrace. “I knew you’d see it my way.” He whispered and she could not help the cheesy smile on her face. After a few minutes, Dean finally let go of her and she sat up on the edge of her bed. She ran her hand through her long hair and caught Dean staring up at her. She stuck her tongue out at him, “Take a picture it last longer, pretty boy.” He chuckled sitting up and then grabbing Raelyn’s sides tickling her. “Dean! Stop it, please!” she shouted in between giggling. Dean trapped her on the bed hovering over her. He stopped resting his hands on either side of her as she tried to catch her breath. She looked up into his brilliant green eyes as he slowly leaned down towards her. Her eyes went wide and she watched as he licked his lips. He was close enough she could feel his breath on her mouth and just as his lips were about to touch hers the doorbell rang. Dean sighed as he leaned his forehead against hers, “Damn.” He whispered as he pulled himself off the bed. Raelyn shot off the bed and went to answer the door seeing a frantic Morgan.
“Your timing has not improved over the years, Morgan.” She said through gritted teeth. “What?” Morgan said as she walked into the living room. Morgan was saying something about her parents and Nick’s parents but Raelyn was looking towards Dean who was casually standing by her bedroom door trying not laughing at the scene in front of him. “Morgan!” Raelyn shouted as her best friend shut up and turned towards her. “Sorry! What?” Raelyn pointed to Dean who waved at Morgan as she turned around. “Holy… wow. Hi there.” Raelyn rolled her eyes, “Morgan Gilman this is Dean…” Raelyn was unsure to say his real last name or not and thankful Dean introduced himself, “Winchester. Dean Winchester. It’s nice to meet you Morgan.” Morgan shook his hand and turned to Raelyn as she fanned herself. “Dean, you can use my shower and get ready while I help Morgan calm down.” Dean nodded turning to go back into her bedroom and shut the door. “Raelyn! Wow, look at that man!” Raelyn shushed her and that is when she saw Dean’s bag still in the living room. She grabbed the bag and knocked on the door. “Dean, your bag is still out here.” She said through the door. Raelyn sucked in a breath as she watched Dean open the door with only his jeans on. “Thanks, I was about to come out and get it.” Raelyn nodded handing it to him. She could not help to admire his toned chest and stomach. His jeans were hanging low on his hips and the waistband of his boxers were peeking out the top of them. Dean leaned down raising his eyebrows with a cocky smirk on his face, “Enjoying the show?” Raelyn nodded, “Sure am pretty boy.” His laugh was low and he stepped back to shut the door again.
Raelyn turned to see Morgan’s slacked jaw. “I want to know everything, right now.” Raelyn sat down and came up with a story of how they met at the Chicago Comic Con event she was working, which was true and kept in contact afterwards. “Morgan, we’re not dating. We are just friends.” Morgan scoffed, “Yeah right.” Raelyn kept her face straight to show Morgan she was not joking. “Raelyn Nichols! Why have you not locked that down?!” Raelyn fidgeted with the hem of her shirt and shrugged. “It’s complicated Morgan.” Her best friend got up and squished herself next to Raelyn in her favorite chair and wrapped her arms around her neck. “Love is always complicated, Rae. You’re thinking that you are not good enough for him, right?” Raelyn sighed, “The thought has crossed my mind, but it’s more than that Morgan. I felt connected to him for the moment I laid eyes on him. Like… like…” She could not bring herself to say it, but Morgan did. “Like you were meant to be together. Yeah, I saw that the moment I walked in here and you know got past the whole he’s dropped dead gorgeous thing.” Raelyn started laughing. “You really think… he and I?” Morgan smiled brightly at her, “Match made in heaven if you ask me.” Raelyn chuckled. Morgan had no idea how right she was. “Alright, enough of my lack of a love life. Today is about you and Nick. What do you need done? How can I calm you down?” Morgan hugged her and then went into a whole list of things she needed.
Once she had a list of everything Morgan needed she left. Raelyn started making notes on the list when Dean came out from her room. He was dressed in tight jeans fitting in all the right place on his legs and hips along with a form fitting black t-shirt that hugged every muscle he had on his upper body. He sat down on the couch next to Raelyn putting on a pair of black boots. “Where is Morgan?” he asked as Raelyn openly stared at him. “She, uh… she left. I have a list of things I have to do for tonight.” She held up her list and Dean chuckled. “Alright, well you can take your shower and get ready then we will knock out this list. Unless, of course, you just want to sit here and stare at me some more.” Raelyn puckered her lips and scrunched up her nose as if she was thinking. “That is tempting but I think I’ll go take my shower.” Dean glanced at her and snapped his fingers, “Damn, I guess I’m just not as tempting as I used to be.” Raelyn shook her head and ruffled his wet hair. “You’re very tempting but I know how to resist temptation and be an adult.” His chuckling could still be heard once she was in her room with the door close.
Raelyn decided to wear a simple white top with a royal blue skater skirt that came to just above her knees. Morgan promised her that she could dress causal and wear her Converse so she slipped on her royal blue pair. She left her hair down and pinned back the sides. She kept her make-up light and natural. She grabbed a light jacket and walked out of her room finding Dean playing games on his phone. “Okay, pretty boy, do I look presentable?” Dean looked up at her and she twirled around for him. Her skirt flared out which was the only reason why she liked it. Dean’s silence was making her feel awkward, “Dean? Do I look okay or should I change?” her voice was a little more serious this time and he shook his head. “You look gorgeous, Raelyn. Literally, I’m kind of speechless and feel a little under dressed.” She smiled bashfully at him as he got up making his way towards her. “You look great Dean.”
He stood in front of her and moved a piece of her hair behind her shoulder. “You know I was thinking about this morning and everything going on.” Raelyn nodded, “Mmhmm.” He ran his hands down her arms and lifted her hands up to the back of his neck. “I was thinking maybe we could make this our first official date. Give this whole destiny, fate, soulmate thing a try.” His hands were resting on her hips and started swaying her back and forth. “A date?” she asked as he nodded. “Really?” He stopped and looked down at her his smile fading. “Am I reading things wrong between us? Forget the whole soulmate thing, but I thought that you… never mind. Sorry.” Dean took a step back dropping his hands from her hips. Raelyn shook her head and then pulled his lips down to hers. First, he did not move at all and Raelyn pulled away quickly. She felt her cheeks burning and she stared up at him, “You’re not reading this wrong.” She whispered and that was all Dean needed to hear from her because he crashed his lips against hers again. This time his arms wrapped around her waist bringing her as close to him as possible. Their mouths melded together perfectly as she ran her fingers through his hair tugging on it gently. She felt his chest vibrate as he growled pulling away from her. Both of them breath heavily as Dean rested his forehead against hers, “Damn it, I want to take you in that bedroom and never leave but we need to get going so I don’t piss off your best friend.” Raelyn instinctively crossed her legs squeezing her thighs at the thought of being with Dean. “Yeah, I would hate for the famously indestructible Dean Winchester to be taken out by a simple human female.” Dean nodded kissing the tip of her nose, “Come on gorgeous let’s get this list completed.” Raelyn had the best afternoon of her life with Dean. They walked all around downtown Chicago hand in hand getting the things Morgan needed. It was a perfect day to be outside in Chicago with the fall chill keeping temperatures cool. They stopped for lunch at the diner her and Castiel always met at and Dean was over the moon to have a piece of apple pie. The Impala’s backseat was filled with bags as they made their way to the Willis Tower. Raelyn saw Nick standing outside with a few other guys to help her with Morgan’s things. Dean parked right in front as they got out. Nick gave her a big hug and twirled her around. “Raelyn, looking great as always!” She smacked him gently on the chest as he put her down. “Nick, I would like for you to meet Dean Winchester.” The two men shook hands sizing one another up. “Nice to meet you. Morgan has been going on and on about you.” Dean smirked pushing his Ray Bans up on top of his head. “Yeah, I’m looking forward to getting to know you both. Friends of Raelyn’s are friends of mine.” Dean turned to Raelyn handing her the keys to the Impala. “I’ll help these guys and you can go park the car.” Her jaw slightly dropped and he chuckled. She kissed his cheek and quickly got into the car before he changed his mind.
Once Raelyn parked Baby in a safe spot and made her way up to the sixty-seventh floor she jumped right in helping Morgan’s mom with decorations. She glanced around and saw Dean helping a few guys seat up a present table. “Quite the man you got there, Raelyn.” Mrs. Gilman said as Raelyn nodded. Right at five o’clock guests started filing in and Raelyn stood off to the side watching Morgan and Nick greet people. She felt an arm drape over her shoulders and she leaned into Dean’s side resting her head on his chest. “Ready for your speech?” he asked. “Yeah, as ready as I’ll ever be.” She sighed and Dean looked down at her. “What’s wrong?” She shook her head and laced her fingers with his. “That’s not very convincing but I’ll drop it since Morgan is making a beeline towards us.” Raelyn laughed as she watched Morgan make her way through the crowd. “Come on, Raelyn. Nick’s best friend is finally here and you two can give your speeches.” Raelyn looked up to see who was talking with Nick and she gasped. Her grip on Dean’s hand tighten. “I’ll be right there, Morgan.” Morgan did not notice Raelyn’s reaction and walked back over to her husband. “What is it, Raelyn?” Dean asked concerned and she pointed to the man now hugging Morgan. “Son of a bitch…” Dean muttered as she watched Morgan leading Raymond over to them.
“Raelyn and Dean this is Raymond Carter, Nick’s best friend. Raymond this is my best friend and her boyfriend.” Raymond smiled at them both. “Nice to meet you both.” Morgan’s mom had called her and Nick over for a picture leaving Raymond standing there in front of them. Dean moved slightly in front of Raelyn and Raymond snickered. “Don’t worry Dean, I won’t do anything to Raelyn here. I didn’t even know she would be here but I have to say I’m pleasantly surprised to find another person to be able to hold over her.” Dean gritted his teeth, “I’m going to find a way to kill you. I promise.” Raelyn watched as he laughed and then looked directly at her. “Trust me, you will not be the one to kill me. There is only one thing on this earth that can kill me and it is not that darling demon blade nor a silver blade. Good luck finding the only thing that can take me out.” Raelyn narrowed her eyes at him and before she could say anything the DJ was calling for Raymond and Raelyn to come up for their speeches.
After her speech, Raelyn did not leave Dean’s side. She made small talk with a few friends from college when she saw Raymond walking up. Dean had been right behind her talking with Morgan’s dad about cars and excused himself as he went up behind Raelyn. “Excuse me ladies, I just wanted to say goodbye to Raelyn before leaving. It was lovely meeting you.” She nodded, “Yeah, you too.” He nodded towards Dean and then walked to the elevators. Raelyn breathed a sigh of relief and excused herself from the group of girls walking with Dean to the bar. She ordered a shot of whiskey and downed it immediately ordering another. Once she had that one down she asked for water. “Dean?” He looked over to her after ordering a beer. “Yeah?” She wrapped her arms around his waist resting her head on his chest, “This was the worst date ever. Can we have a redo?” She heard his chuckling rise up through his chest. “Yeah, we can have a redo and I promise it will be a great date.” Dean kissed the top of her head as he wrapped his arms around her.
