what we know of infernus so far makes him a really symbolically poignant character. he has fire powers and he's a beloved bartender. in spite of his troubled youth and his nature he's well trusted to handle flammable substances for a living. it really speaks to a story about growth and im excited to learn more about him.
its also really funny that his whole thing is being a bartender and his first ability is throwing napalm. not even a molotov cocktail. the devs could've given him some absinthe to throw and ignite his fire and they said "nah get this guy some fuckin napalm"

yes yes yes yes!! ive been thinking about this so hard. i love that they're a bit Not Okay. they escaped from an assassination attempt, it's no wonder they're paranoid as hell.
and i do think the spirits are corrupting them, or at least making them sick in some way (affliction reference.) it's no coincidence that the arm they hold the briefcase with is the one that's fucked up and rotten. there's also them starting the game with -15% spirit resist. its like having to wield the spirits for so long has eaten away at their defenses to them.
i'm gonna take a sec to ramble about pocket since i've officially played 75 games as them and i have thoughts i need to get out, lest i explode.
first, i find it interesting how varied their dialogue is in regards to the spirits. pocket goes from apprehensive ("good god, what am i about to do?") to pessimistic ("i'm becoming more and more like my father") to objective ("sometimes violence is necessary").
then they just... do a complete 180°? they absolve themself of responsibility ("it's the spirits killing them, not me") and flat out deny that they are enabling violence ("my father chose violence, not me").
though it's done subtly, everything seems to suggest pocket isn't exactly doing well mentally despite their mostly optimistic nature. i mean duh. but this raises another question: is pocket going bonkers from living in paranoia for years, or are the spirits actually starting to corrupt them?
at this point, we just don't know. it is suggested they are being physically affected by the briefcase considering hands normally don't look like that. so, there is possibly some merit to their claim that the spirits are the ones doing the killing.
everything about their situation is ominous. it isn't even clear if they're talking about the enemy or the spirits when they go in the case and say "they're trying to kill me."
personally, i think it's neat! i love complex characters. all nonbinary people should have a free pass to go a little crazy and freak out sometimes, even if they are a nepo baby.
#god i love pocket. im always thinking about them#i cant wait until we get more lore#pocket#deadtalking#speculation and analysis

Facial Reconstruction Facial reconstruction is a method used in the forensic field when a crime involves unidentified remains. Facial reconstruction is usually performed by a sculptor who is an expert in facial anatomy.
Types of Reconstructions There are two main methods used in forensic facial approximation: 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional.
2D Reconstructions Two-dimensional facial reconstructions are hand-drawn portraits based on radiographs, antemortem photographs, and the skull. This method usually requires the collaboration of an artist and a forensic anthropologist. Recently developed, the F.A.C.E. and C.A.R.E.S. computer software programs quickly produce two-dimensional facial approximations that can be edited and manipulated with relative ease.
3D Reconstructions Three-dimensional facial reconstructions are either: 1) sculptures (made from casts of cranial remains) created with modeling clay and other materials or 2) high-resolution, three-dimensional computer images. Like two-dimensional reconstructions, three-dimensional reconstructions usually require both an artist and a forensic anthropologist. Computer programs create three-dimensional reconstructions by manipulating scanned photographs of the unidentified cranial remains, stock photographs of facial features, and other available reconstructions.
Superimposition Superimposition is a technique that is sometimes included among the methods of forensic facial reconstruction. It is only sometimes included as a technique because investigators must already have some kind of knowledge about the identity of the skeletal remains with which they are dealing. Forensic superimpositions are created by superimposing a photograph of an individual suspected of belonging to the unidentified skeletal remains with an X-ray of the unidentified skull. If the skull and the photograph are of the same individual, then the anatomical features of the face should align accurately.

she smiles at cain , as she has taken to calling him . the familiar chirp of her accent sounds nice over the first syllable , lucy defends . but even her show of reassurance is saddened , nearly tainted by the face she sees when she closes her eyes .

mind transfer (n.)
is the hypothetical futuristic process of scanning the mental state (including long-term memory and "self") of a particular brain substrate and copying it to a computer. The computer could then run a simulation model of the brain's information processing, such that it would respond in essentially the same way as the original brain (i.e., indistinguishable from the brain for all relevant purposes) and experience having a conscious mind.
In theory, if the information and processes of the mind can be disassociated from the biological body, they are no longer tied to the individual limits and lifespan of that body. Furthermore, information within a brain could be partly or wholly copied or transferred to substrates.
mind transfer would probably result in the death of the original person's brain, while only outside observers can maintain the illusion of the original person still being alive. For it is implausible to think that one's consciousness would leave one's brain and travel to a remote location.
mind (n.)
"that which feels, wills, and thinks; the intellect," late 12c., mynd, from Old English gemynd "memory, remembrance; state of being remembered; thought, purpose; conscious mind, intellect, intention,"
transfer (v.)
late 14c., from Old French transferer or directly from Latin transferre "bear across, carry over, bring through; transfer, copy, translate," from trans "across, beyond" (see trans-) + ferre "to carry," from PIE root *bher- (1) "to carry," also "to bear children." Related: Transferred; transferring.
