[Video] DDT New Attitude 2 Full Show and Analysis
DDT New Attitude 2, 1/9/2015 [Fri] 19:00 @ Shinjuku FACE in Tokyo 322 Spectators (packed)
(Much like the post I made for DNA1, I thought it would be wise to follow up on this by doing the same for this 2nd outing. Like what was previously mentioned these events are a special set of shows which focuses on the up and coming talent / new rookies in DDT and UNION, in which I should add against opponents outside of DDT. As they can face anyone from their home promotions at anytime. This will keep things fresh while offering chances to the up-and-comers that they would not get anywhere else. Keep in mind that most of these guys are still early on in their careers and that makes it hard to criticize them. I originally began to plug these shows on the puro group but I noticed that I gave a simple analysis for each match and thought it might make a decent article if I pieced it together. [BushidoRX]) Results from the show can be found here... http://keepingthespiritalive.tumblr.com/post/107594902065/ddt-dna2-results-for-january-9-2015 (1) Kota Umeda vs. Ryuichi Sekine [K-DOJO] ~ K-DOJO's resident heavy kicker against DDT's new rookie who has history in kickboxing. The match starts of quickly with a lot of back and forth of the two trying to deliver the solid blows. Sekine gives the younger Umeda plenty of chances to show his worth, but also doesn't hold back in pegging the rookie with solid shots. Umeda shows more promise with taking high-flying risks and even shows a somewhat better version of his handspring jumping face kick, which could be one of his signature moves with more practice.
(2) Dai Suzuki vs. Shota [FREE] ~ Shota who is a freelance wrestler, also known as Mr.SHOWTIME, currently belonging to GUTS World and Sano-Damashii, taking on the rookie Dai. Shota is pretty crafty in the ring and tries his best to even shows some moves in respect to one of his idols in the late Eddie Guerrero. In regards to Dai, he shows plenty of fight against Shota and even manages to hold his own against the more seasoned competitor.
(3) Tomoya Kawamura vs. Jiro “Ikemen” Kuroshio [WRESTLE-1] The UNION rookie getting his chance against younger, but more established W-1 rookie Kuroshio. Kuroshio is known for "Ikemen" gimmick which portrays him as the "cool/good looking guy" who tries to leave a noteworthy impression every time he competes. Kawamura manages to get some openings on the highly charismatic Kuroshio and even almost bests him while Kuroshio focuses too much on the "finish". This match definitely got a few laughs out of me, but with Kawamura getting some decent spots in as well.
(4) Ryota Nakatsu & Kouki Iwasaki vs. Hideki Szuuki [FREE] & Koji Iwamoto [Sportiva] ~ This match features two of the promising shoot fighters/grapplers from DDT taking on the established Hideki Suzuki, currently in ZERO1, and a grappler in his own Koji Iwamoto from the Nagoya area. Now I should say from the start that Koji Iwamoto I have followed for a couple years now and has been one of the talents I have wished would get more chances in the bigger promotions. Maybe the showing from this match could do that for him? I could only wish myself. Both Hideki and Iwamoto don't hold back on the new guys and give them the chances to show their best, if they have the fight in them to deliver. The much larger Hideki certainly controls much of the pace when he gets in the ring, but Nakatsu and Iwasaki show that promise as guys able to take a pounding and come back for more.
(5) Kazusada Higuchi & Shunma Katsumata vs. Katsuhiko Nakajima [DIAMOND RING] & Mitsuhiro Kitamiya [NOAH] ~ Higuchi, the true heavyweight rookie of the DNA guys, and Katsumata, the potential next high-flying star, taking on the two established competitors known currently from Pro Wrestling NOAH. This match truly is not as one sided as one would expect just looking at it as it is listed. Nakajima and Kitamiya give the rookies room to show their worth in the ring as they even mange, for better or worse in Katsumata's case, striking their opponents nerve and paying for it. Higuchi continues to show his strength as a power wrestler and Katsumata shows a lot of fight for being one of the smaller guys in the ring.
(6) Main Event: Suguru Miyatake vs. Jun Kasai [FREEDOMS] ~ The leading man of the DDT rookies getting a big single oppurtunity against the deathmatch veteran "Crazy Monkey" Jun Kasai. Miyatake has already been making himself known on the main stage of DDT, but has yet to face anyone like Kasai in a match. Kasai takes charge early in the match as he keeps the match in his favor, as some may forget, or know, that Kasai is a skilled wrestler outside of his love and dedication to the death match style. Miyatake looked to have suffered an arm injury heading into the match as Kasai focused plenty on Miyatake's weakness. Miyatake though showed that he has the ability to take plenty of punishment.
