“Hey now, look here-” Philip frowns as the kid curses at him. He wants to chastise the boy for it but he doesn’t have much right to. Reminds him too much of HIMSELF at that age if he’s being honest anyway. “-ya don’t trust me, that’s fine. Not many people worth trustin’ these days anyways. But ya gotta stick ‘round here an’ keep an eye on your mom and your sister, awright? I’ll be back in a few hours with whatever I find.”

    She finds it hard to believe that Emmeline is shocked at the idea that her intentions haven’t always been exactly above board. But she does feel like she maybe missed the point of what she was saying. “What did you think it was? Of course it was a lie. It was self preservation! I didn’t have a choice.” She’d never had a choice. “But you’re missing the part where it stopped being a mask, where it stopped being a goddamn lie and started being something real.”

It’s a lot to come back from. And he’s well aware there are some things that you can’t come back from. These days people do horrible things all the time. He’s done horrible things. And he knows that he’s done WRONG. He can’t explain his actions. He wishes he could. Maybe he can if he tries hard enough but he doesn’t want to seem weak. Weakness gets you killed, especially in this world. There’s something in him that’s just not RIGHT. His head hasn’t been on straight since Sarah passed and things only got muddier after the outbreak. “I know...I...I know that.” And he does. Maybe it’s unfixable. Maybe she’s right. “Just...tell me what I’ve gotta do...tell me what to do.” Because he doesn’t know. He always had the answers in Woodbury but it was all a facade and that front has burned away with the town.

   There is some part of him that is completely terrified, of course there is. She’s extremely deadly and he knows it. But he’s not as weak as he looks, not anymore. “Standing up to you? I just told you I knew you were a vampire. It’s not like I held up a freaking stake at the same time.” Not that it would work on her for long. Power sits ready at his fingertips though, just in case she does try something. "Of course, if you’re here to do the maiming and killing innocent people thing I might have to object.”

     the girl can’t meet the other’s eyes, instead casting her eyes down towards their feet. it’s impossible to hide her blotchy cheeks and wet eyes. red rims the bright blue, an obvious mark that she has been crying. she hates that someone has seen her like this, but there’s no use in trying to deny it, so she shuffles her feet slightly.
