#dayoung scenario

I'm doing a very slow reread of orv with some friends, but since I can't talk about my spoilerous rambles with them too much I have decided to make a post here to get my thoughts out. Up to chapter 25, I've been surprised by the amount of little hints we're already getting for larger plot points and the things that are recontextualized now that I'm looking with hindsight rather than experiencing it for the first time, which really speaks to how phenomenally written orv is on a fundamental level. By the time we get to the 3rd scenario, we've had Dokja mention his mother once, when he briefly worries over her safety. Then we get this line:

"I looked around at the people. The first scenario was original sin. Thus, none of the people here were innocent. That made it more disgusting. Those who trampled on someone else to survive, who couldn’t even bear responsibility for their own life."

Of course it's firstly talking about the lack of morality in this world, when faced with the truth that between the major and minor groups of Gumho station, one fact makes them equal: they are all murderers. The use of the phrase "the original sin" caught my eye because when looking at Dokja's life, murder is his original sin- the murder of his father. That is what sparks the events leading up to this point. It is the true original sin of this world. However, that being followed by "That made it more disgusting...who couldn't even bear responsibility for their own life," is rather hypocritical in that regard. We have no way of knowing exactly how much of that night Dokja remembers at this point of the story, so there are 2 ways to interpret this in regards to his father's murder. 1) Dokja does not remember that he murdered his father, but remembers that his mother had taken responsibility for her crime and served her sentence. In regards to here the people of the minor are far inferior because they cannot adapt the way Sookyung did to their crime. 2) Dokja does remember that he murdered his father, and this disgust is equally leveled at himself, because he knows his mother is innocent but that she took responsibility from Dokja. Thus Dokja of back then is just like these people, unable to take responsibility for his crime.

Then, later on, we see the text, and Dokja specifically, focus on this particular pairing in the minor group.

"The people started to move. All in all, they were people who had already killed. “M-Mother!” “Dayoung, come here! Do this! Just like what you did on the subway with Mother!” Children and mothers."

Then in Chapter 25 we have:

"I honestly admired that the mother and child survived the bloody fight. If she had that much strength, they might be able to survive without going with us."

The English translation doesn't exactly lend itself to identifying the gender of the child, and I am miserably monolingual so I'm not sure if the original text specifies Dayoung's gender, but for thematic reasons I'm choosing to imagine them as a mother/son paring. In that regard, Dokja choosing to notice them out of everyone else, when he's an extremely apathetic person in these early chapters who doesn't care much for those not directly related to him or the story/his survival is very notable. I can't help but think he sees himself in that, as both the son of a murderer and a murderer himself. It's also notable that when complimenting the pair, he only focuses on the mother's strength. Which like. The subconscious projection is so real. To Dokja the child didn't do anything it seems, it's only because of the mother's strength that they will be able to live on. I'm sure I will be back to add more info on this as I trudge through the novel because Dokja and Sookyung's relationship makes me mentally ill all the time but for now I shall simply lay down and ponder(tm)

it couldn't get any worse after that last chapter, right?

as his story begins, it starts to take control over his consciousness. as he fights for his own mind, he hears the introduction to orv. the words that he once wrote have returned as a curse. seeing an image of hundreds of thousands of meteors in a shower, another line comes to mind

「if i cannot be kim dokja」

「then i wish that no kim dokja would exist in this universe instead」

those are lines he wrote. han sooyoung would have never written that. but if this story has that. kim dokja...

lhh's friends are approaching him. thoughts of almost anything was changed into samyeongdang's bamboo stick, as his story continues to control him. he tells it to shut up. when he declared he would be kim dokja it was to bear the duty of kim dokja, not listen to unreasonable stories. he tells his story to listen to him,

but it doesn't. he cannot handle this story. he isn't strong enough to wear kim dokja's name. thr story takes control of his arm, and prepares to attack his friends and consume them. this can't happen. if he can't control the story, he'd rather—

shin yoosung notices something is wrong and grabs on to lhh. begs him. he tells her it's alright, and changes the bamboo stick to broken faith. with blade of faith, he resists the story's control, and

stabs himself in the stomach...

even through the pain, he refuses to pass out snd let his story take control of his body. he hears voices through his barely aware consciousness, people trying to save him, blasts, a sudden scenario...

...

the midday tryst line is restored. dkos tells lhh to get up. lhh can feel that the story's control has disappeared. did he do it?

dkos is speechless.

— yjh doesn't control his stories like that

"this was the only way" <- no it was not

— incite?

"that might not have worked" <- i get not taking any chances, but...

— so you put a hole in your stomach?

"i'm a little more like kim dokja now" <- WHAT THE FUCK

— oh my

dkos's voice sounds happy. lhh smiles bitterly. i am losing it.

as lhh gets up, he feels extremely fragile. like if someone touched him, he would break into pieces. like his entire self was faltering. is this how 49 felt? hearing sounds and screams in the distance, he asks dkos what's going on. a scenario.

the window pops up then, and it's a sub scenario. dragons are invading... where's yoo joonghyuk? looking around, he can't see him. dkos tells him he was summoned to the final part of the seventh scenario. ...right, lhh was supposed to go with him. yjh's companions and the readers aren't here either. they probably all went with him. so the people left... those who weren't chosen to go to the 7th scenario. lhh can see the people fighting. faces he knew.

bang cheolsoo, dayoung and her mother, jungsa kim and jung eunho, shin yoosung. and jung heewon, in the center of the battlefield. she takes down a dragon, and heads directly to the next one. even when it roars and the incarnations around her collapses, her [madness] attribute from the crazy butcher peotects her. she commands the people to stand up, and they do. even when they clearly can't continue to fight.

lee hakhyun doesn't understand. this sub scenario, it doesn't have a failure penalty. gwanghwamun can be safely abandoned. so why?

it's not...

— that's right.

there was a circular formation around his tent.

— they're protecting you.

taking a closer look, all the faces were familiar. people he had passed by at the geumho, chungmuro, and seoul stations. a man notices him, and calls out for him. a groll bites into his neck, and he falls as he yells to alert everyone else. a woman cries out and holds the man, before they're both swarmed by grolls.

lee hakhyun has to do something. holding broken faith, he tries to incite as anyone. yoo joonghyuk. jung heewon. kim dokja.

incite can't be activated. his body is unstable. a message appears again. and even as the story was driven away, his penalty still remained. he has 5 minutes to collect a new kdj fragment. he wants to save them, but he can't think of a way. he can't do it.

— yoo joonghyuk made you a companion.

dkos' voice

— and yet he left you behind. why would he do that?

the reason why he was left behind. did he think lhh could solve the scenario? dkos is silent.

there is no yoo joonghyuk here. people are dying. he has 3 minutes left. in order to use his skills, he has to clear this penalty first. a penalty that will only be cleared when 'kim dokja' is consumed.

"heir to the eternal name."

there's only one thing he can use to feed this story.

he brings his right arm to his mouth.

"eat 'me'".

Seola loves a lazy day more than anything. There’s nothing as lovely as snuggling up with a loved one while the rain pours down outside, both of you huddled together under a thick blanket to keep warm. You would spend all day cuddling and binge watching netflix, with Seola’s cat taking turns over who’s lap it gets to fall asleep on, making the both of you coo over the pet’s adorable antics. At the end of the day, you’d probably end up in bed, hands intertwined as you talked about anything and everything under the sun, until you both drifted off into a deep slumber. 

Xuan Yi:

An absolute sleep fest. Life is so hectic for the both of you that a lazy day is absolutely the perfect opportunity to sleep in as much as you desire, followed by breakfast in bed and a takeout for dinner. Neither one of you will lift a finger all day, wanting to completely rest up and take a break from your busy lives, even if it's just for a little while. You and Xuanyi will only leave for a little walk to the convenience store later on, your conjoined hands swinging back and forth under the yellow street lamps, not a care in the world apart from the love you have for one another <3

Bona:

Kisses, kisses, kisses. Bona is a busy lady, and is often working on schedules when really, all she wants to do is come home and kiss you silly, before falling asleep in your arms. Lucky for you, lazy days are Bona's opportunity to catch up on that missed affection - and she certainly doesn't hold back. She'll wake you up with kisses all over your face, before helping you get dressed (in a nice hoodie that belongs to her, of course), before pushing you back down onto your bed and straddling your lap, her lips attaching to yours before you can even register what's happening.

Exy:

Lazy days with Exy are definitely a chance to take your lives that are always at 100 wayyyy down to a 10. There's nothing nicer than staying in with your loved one, drinking and giggling over an intense game of monopoly, both of you too tipsy to even figure out how to win the damn thing. After a bit you'd give up, holding an impromptu slow dance in the middle of your living room. You stumbled around as Exy gracefully lead the moves, catching you every time you thought you were going to fall.

Soobin:

CUDDLE FEST. This baby loves having lazy days with you, getting ready to stream movies all day as you both bring in every blanket and pillow you can find in the house to construct the most comfortable blanket pile you can possibly make. Absolutely NOTHING could make you move from your spots once you got comfort in the arms of one another (except for when soobin sprinted to the door to answer the pizza delivery man). You two truly put the lazy in 'lazy day' - and as you should !!! we all need to chillax sometimes 😩🙏

Luda:

Move marathon incoming !! You and Luda have a projector set up in your room for lazy days like this, the picture shining against the wall making it feel like a cinema screen. With popcorn and snacks all around you, there's nothing getting in the way of your endless list of movies, both of you commenting either on how great the film is, or if it's a bad one, making fun of the terrible acting. You have a list of films that you want to watch together, and every time you both have time off from work you tend to settle down for the day and tick a couple off :]

Dawon:

Lazy days with Dawon were filled with soft conversations and stories. The two of you would sit in the bay window of your home, shoulders touching and cups of hot chocolate in your hands as you chatted. As someone who lives a life in the spotlight, it was times like these where Dawon felt herself really relaxed and able to be herself, opening up to you about everything on her mind. She never had to worry about you judging her, as you were her safe space, and she was yours.

Eunseo:

If you know Eunseo, then you know this girl is clingy as HELL. A lazy day in for her is just a free pass for her to hold you in her arms all day. She’d only ever let you move for snacks, and even then would whine and kick up a fuss, annoyed that you were leaving her hold. If she was every feeling a little less clingy though, your lazy day ins would be filled with board games, shitty movies and just dance battles - in which both of you are WAYYYYYY to competitive for your own good lol

Cheng Xiao:

As someone who doesn't get to spend too much time with you due to work, lazy days are the best opportunity to spend time together without any cameras or people around to bother you. Cheng xiao usually spends most of the day on your lap, pressing kisses all over your face and jaw, loving the way your arms wrap around her waist to keep you close to her. It's also a time for her to give her body a rest, as she dances more often than she doesn't, and you always do your best to take care of her and buy her pain patches and other forms of relief; anything to make sure your girlfriend is safe and sound.

Mei Qi:

I feel like Mei Qi is a very classy lady, and the way she lives definitely reflects that. She'd have you in matching robes, a big bubble bath made up for the both of you with candles and drinks all prepared. She'd love just relaxing with you in there, her back against your front as you played with her hair and chatted about all the worries and thoughts that had been on your mind. For Mei Qi, you were always a calm and safe space for her, and your lazy days were truly her favourite time to de-stress and relax with you by her side.

Yeoreum:

Lazy days = yeoreum just getting babied and looked after for 24 hours straight. Lazy days are few and far between for a busy idol like yeoreum, so she will definitely take advantage of every one that comes her way. She loves being taken care of, so for her, lazy days are filled with an endless supply of cuddles and kisses, with plenty of snacks and things to watch. She'd also love cuddling right up to your chest in bed as you tell silly stories and reminisce on your time together, before both of you find yourself sound asleep, smiles still on your faces as you dream sweet dreams.

Dayoung:

Dayoung Ramsay incoming - you best believe she will have you in the kitchen with matching aprons on, cooking to your heart's desire. From main courses to desserts, Dayoung loves to try her hands at new recipes to find things you can both make together. After smearing icing all over each others faces, accidentally burning a batch of cookies and god knows what else, you do eventually end up with a nice batch of treats to snack on while you catch up on the new episodes of your favourite show.

Yeonjung:

Yeonjung loves lazy days. She gets to wrap up in a soft pair of your sweats, her adorable sweater paws making your heart beat a mile a minute. You guys had moved in together not too long ago, and lazy days like this were, unfortunately, mostly reserved for chores and other adult responsibilities. However, you guys both knew how to make boring work much more fun, leading to Yeonjung connecting to a speaker to blast out the most hype playlist she could find. Cleaning soon turned to singing your hearts out and slipping all over the wood floor as you danced around in your socks - but you truly wouldn't have it any other way.

Jeongguk shouldn't look cute but he does. It's a disappointing realization on your part if you're being honest with yourself. The pits of his shirt are stained dark, damp with his sweat and his jeans look like they've gotten five new rips revealing his sun-kissed burly thighs. He reeks of alcohol, even from the distance you're standing at. Probably the remnants of the vile concoction you'd spied Jimin mixing in the kitchen. Someone should keep that boy away from liquor before he accidentally sends someone to the ICU. You have a sneaky suspicion that Jeongguk will be his first victim, evident from the way he staggers up the stairs to your apartment.

"Jeongguk?" You offer into the early morning air. You'd checked the time before you'd grabbed a sweater and headed out to find him. It was nearing five and the melodious chirping of the birds was starting to infiltrate the misty air.

He grunts in response, taking a precarious step upward. Which he immediately misses. You move fast enough down the stairs to grab at his shirt before he tips backwards and tumbles down to the tarmac road of your parking lot. You'd rather not drive to the hospital at this time in the morning.

"Bro, what the fuck? How drunk are you?" It's hard to hold up Jeongguk's weight when he's literally all just pure muscle. But he's leaning onto you anyway, eyes half-closed and a suspicious red mark on his face. You peer at it again when Jeongguk dumps his head into the hollow of your neck. It's a dick drawing. Of course.

"M not tha drunk." He muffles it into your skin, swaying violently on the edge of the staircase.

"Yeah, you're not," You scoff back, snaking your arms around his waist so you can support him. Jeongguk doesn't protest against your grip, melting smoothly against your body as you drag him up to your apartment door.

"Who dropped you?" You question. You'd left Jeongguk at the party and arrived home around at three in the morning. Only two precious hours of sleep before your best friend came knocking at your door.

"Taehyung," He murmurs before he burps right into neck.

"You fucking pig! Do that again and I'll leave you here." You threaten. You want to push his head away from you but you'll afraid that'll trigger the projectile vomit threatening to rip from his mouth.

"Sorry," He mumbles, nestling himself further into your frame. Which doesn't even work the way he wants it too because you're a dwarf and Jeongguk thinks he's six feet (he's 5'11'' but whatever strokes his massive ego).

"Are you gonna throw up?" You've reached your door now. It's unlocked, so you use your foot to kick it open.

"Don't think so." It's not reassuring in the slightest. But you hope he's telling the truth.

You make it to your bedroom easily enough. Dayoung isn’t home thank god. She's complained about Jeongguk's drunken sleepovers too many times. But at this point you were starting to feel the same - Jeongguk only ever showed up to your house when he was completely and utterly smashed beyond words.

"Why don't you ever sleep at your home?" You question. Jeongguk's flopped onto your bed and you're on the ground, untying his shoes because you don't want whatever he'd stepped on smearing on your floor.

"It's nice here," He replies, his words slurring together. "You're here. And you take care of me. I don't wanna be alone."

You pause at that, something ticking in your chest. The emotions bleed together until you can't distinguish irritation from longing. It's so stupid, how Jeongguk makes you feel. Some part of you wants to bop his nose and the other wants to punch his face. There's a thin line there - between love and hate.

The air is heavy with your silence, but you can't think of anything to fill it up with. But you suspect Jeongguk has already succumbed to sleep from the gentle rise and fall of his chest. There's a huge stain on his sweatshirt and you briefly consider taking it off and tossing it in your laundry pile. It wouldn't hurt to wash it up for him. But then you remember that he's probably wearing nothing underneath and you'd rather gouge your eyes out then have Jeongguk naked in your bed.

You toss his shoes into a corner and snatch some blankets for him to cuddle under. There was no way you could lift the sheets up from beneath him, what with Jeongguk T-posing onto your comforter. So blankets it was.

You've only settled in for less than a minute when Jeongguk grumbles awake, eyebrows furrowed in the cutest way possible.

"Um. Y/N?" He croaks out. "We have a problem."

"I swear to god if you puke on my bed I will castrate you, you son of-"

"I'm not going to puke on your bed! However," He turns his head in your direction. The long chestnut strands of his hair curling around his face, framing his features perfectly. Your fingers itch to push them back. "I might piss on it."

You kick him so hard that he tips onto the floor, groaning loudly. You feel bad at that moment when the thud of his ass hits your hardwood floors and echoes through your room.

"Shit! Sorry, I didn't mean too-"

"You did!"

"You're the one threatening to piss on my bed!"

"And kicking me off it is going to help? I'll just piss on your floor!"

"Jeongguk you have functioning legs! The bathroom is right there!"

There's a halt in your argument then. You peer over the edge of your bed to find Jeongguk curled into himself, face twisted like he's struggled to keep his bowls from erupting onto your floor. His eyes are wide open though, pupils dark.

"Jesus fuck what is wrong with you?"

"Eh. Might have smoked with the guys."

"Are you crossfaded? Jeongguk are you fucking stupid?"

"Maybe."

You're at a loss for words. You don't want to judge him for experimenting, but he was tripping balls on your bedroom floor, threatening to piss on it for god's sake. You didn't know college would make him this stupid.

"So what's stopping you from heading to the bathroom?" You ask instead, getting on the floor beside him. You would offer him water but that's like adding fuel to the fire.

"Honestly? My legs kind of, aren't there?"

"Jeongguk...Your legs are attached to your body."

"But like, I can't feel them. They're like...gone?"

You sigh heavily, hands reaching out to get him upright. Jeongguk winces when you do, the pressure on his bladder hurting. "How much did you smoke?"

"Not that much. I'm not tripping badly. I just really need to pee," Jeongguk insists.

"What? Do you need me to help you get to the bathroom, or?"

"That and," Jeongguk falls silent. You can see him considering his options before he opens his mouth again. "Could you maybe...hold my dick too?"

You blanch at that. Your brain refuses to process the statement. But then Jeongguk is poking your arm and you have to come to terms with reality.

"You want me to do what?"

"My aim is gonna be kind of shoddy and unless you want your walls covered in piss-"

"Jeongguk you are not five," You hiss.

"My motor skills are impaired babes. Just do this for me, please. I'll buy you breakfast tomorrow."

"You mean today." The sun is already starting to break through the dark blanket of the night and the birds are getting louder, but not loud enough to drown out the drumming of your blood in your head.

"Yeah, today. Whatever. Just help me out." He does that pout that turns you into putty. You want to say no, but you really can't. A part of you hates Jeongguk for how easily he manipulates you into doing what he wants.

"Fine. Get up." Jeongguk grins broadly at that, his brown eyes glittering. Your heart betrays you with how fast it beats. This isn't fair in the slightest.

In the bathroom, Jeongguk whines about how bright the lights are, but his lips clamp together when your hands land on the zipper of his jeans. You tug it down without much thought. He doesn't move however, a heaviness in the air that you can feel on your skin.

your elementary school best friend who you drift apart from in high school, not in a bad way though, you can both still talk to each other and you still love each other but you just have different interests and it makes you sad for a long time but you eventually learn that it’s actually not a sad thing and you can smile at her in the hallways without feeling guilty about it anymore

Cheng Xiao 

also went to your elementary school, she’s was The Gymnastics Girl, Eunseo’s life long best friend. quiet but everyone adored her, she was passive but so nice, when you were crying in the bathroom that one time, she and Eunseo came in and like, even though you weren’t like CLOSE with them, they still sat with you and Eunseo asked you what was wrong and talked while Cheng Xiao rubbed your back and held your hand. she’s still Eunseo’s best friend in high school and she usually looks out of place with all the loud, some of which obnoxious, Cool Kids but she’s always smiling and tags along to parties with Eunseo sometimes but you can tell she’s more introverted. never got involved in drama, the only time people were talking about her was when she’d been asked to go to prom by one of the Cool Guys and she turned him down saying she already had a date and everyone was trying to figure out who she was going with and then she showed up to prom with Eunseo and everyone was like ohhhhh

Soobin 

whatever version your school had of the film, computer technology, drama class, morning announcements, film studies class, that was where Soobin was okay like she wasn’t a drama kid but she was a film kid like she was an actress. she hosted the awards night and talent show or whatever and made the audience laugh and when she goes up to talk at assemblies people are relieved bc oh thank god it’s Soobin and not Rober The Racist again. she’s the only reason morning announcements are bearable 

Yeonjung

Yeonjung is that girl that you’ve never seen before who comes to your school in grade 12 and everyone seems to know her and she seems nice and all but you didn’t get the chance to get to know her bc you only saw her for a year 

Dayoung

she was on student council and was so nice and you thought she was only being nice to you bc she was on student council and had to be nice to everyone and you tried not to feel special when she remembered your name and sat with you in class, even if just for a minute. you wanted to be her friend but you felt like she was out of your friend league at your graduation ceremony you found out you’re both going to the same college next year and she was so excited about it and asked if you wanted to go to orientation together and was planning all these things and you have butterflies in your mi-i-i-ind

as you might have heard already, singshong will be changing their upload schedule from 4 days a week to 3. no sunday chapter, just mon-wed-fri now!

this chapter was a lot calmer than usual (compared to the recent chs at least), so i'll just go by the main points. feel free to ask if you'd like an elaboration on anything

so, the scenario has changed. if this has been in wos, lhh's skill would have activated. but it didn't.. so someone is deliberately changing the plot. readers wouldn't have changed it, as they can use the information to their advantage. so the culprits are most likely people who are disadvantaged due to orv... lhh has a guess, but it's not yet clear enough to say for sure

while they check the bodies on the floor for familiar faces, lhh grabs sys and avoids a sneak attack. assassins have been hiding in the lobby to kill any newcomers. sys recognizes them. they're the adults that made sys go into the dungeon to prove her worth. they offer to let lhh+sys join their group. they're with the 'seven kings of seoul' alliance(<- tentative name i'm too tired to recheck), which lhh had assumed was under the tyrant king's control, but the assassin says he's with the 'assassination king', instead.

lee hakhyun does not want to kill people if he doesn't have to. he tries to talk i through, but they still prepare to attack. shin yoosung grabs lhh again with that golden glow in her eyes, and along with a headache, sys looked like a completely different person (our sys took over 41sys again huh...). but before she can attack, there's a commotion from the door of the waiting room. the assassins are taken out by a 'gangster king' and the assassins call out that the 'inho group' is here.

inho group????

lee hakhyun realizes who it is. the 'gangster king' is bang cheolsoo, and the 'inho group' are the incarnations of geumho station :) they take care of the assasins while sys watches on.

another 'loss' is recorded on the final wall after this. does this mean that any deaths around lhh will count for his loss collection..?

You two would head out to a concert together. Dawon would be super hyped the entire time, which obviously brought a smile to your face. Watching her sing, dance, and just have a great time was always a beautiful thing. Afterwards, Dawon would talk passionately about how amazing the performer was, even taking a few notes for her next performance. Seeing her so happy and so excited would warm your heart. She’d thank you for taking her to see a band she loved and get a bit serious, saying she hadn’t been feeling all too great beforehand. Being an idol was hard and it was difficult competing with your own group members for recognition. But knowing that she had your full attention and affection was always comforting and she loved you greatly for it.

Expect a loud party at the amusement park. Your girl would be beyond excited to do every little thing possible with you and to have fun. She’d be running you around the park, excitedly talking about which rides she loved most and about which ones she was most looking forward to. Might as well make the trip worth it and spend more time together. Knowing Mei Qi’s more refined taste, you brought wine, cheeses, and grapes. She would laugh at how cliche it all seemed, but it was a sweet gesture and she recognized that. You two would just have a good time keeping one another company and talking.

Date or not, Yeoreum is always the best person to bring to a restaurant. She knows the best kinds of foods and the best combinations. While you two are eating, she’d be full of stories and lively conversations. While she is shy at first, talking comes naturally to Yeoreum. She loves telling you about her day and asking you about yours. Talking is important to her because it makes her feel closer to you. Throughout the meal, Yeoreum would suggest trying different foods together and she would always want to feed you. Food dates were always an experience, not just dinner.

Dayoung

She would invite you to the dorm when all the other girls were out. There, she’d teach you how to cook. She’s always been great at it and decided that teaching you some of her favorite recipes would be fun. You two would have fun dancing around the kitchen to music and singing your favorite songs while waiting for things to cook. The two of you would have a blast playing with all the dogs and watching all of them just run around like clumsy goofs. Watching Yeonjung interact with all the puppies would warm your heart because good lord it was just the cutest thing you’ve ever seen. She’d be so happy and wouldn’t be able to stop smiling. And as everyone knows, Yeonjung’s smile is a ray of sunshine that deserves to be protected from the world. After cuddling with all the puppies, she’d get cuddly with you because of how happy she was.

the call comes one morning roughly a week after he’d sent in his audition tape. a large part of him has resigned himself to the fact that he won’t be chosen, that auditioning was purely for the peace of mind assuring him ‘he tried’. it’s a call to let him know he didn’t make it, he assumes as the person on the other end of the line informs him they’re calling from sphere entertainment. he readies himself for the inevitable, crushing disappointment - but it doesn’t come. 

instead he’s frozen, breath caught in his throat as he tries to comprehend what he’d just heard. did he hear wrong? or were his ears just making him think he’d heard what deep down he’d wanted to hear so badly that his chest hurt at the very thought of the rejection? he stammers out a choked ‘what?’ and the person repeats themselves, a slight laugh in their voice as if they’ve encountered this scenario before. 

he stands stunned, hand steadying himself against the wall beside him as he calmly thanks them for the call, and listens as they reel off some more information, telling him to come in and sign a contract with sphere as soon as is possible for him, informing him that the transfer from trc will be handled by sphere. he’s convinced, partially, that he’s dreaming, that he’s going to wake up and he’ll have really been rejected, as he’d been expecting ever since he sent the audition tapes off. 

the call ends and he’s left in silence, the only sound reaching his ears is his laboured breathing and over enthusiastic heartbeat; the hammering on his ribs so loud he thinks that anyone passing by him will surely hear it. he’s stunned, completely and utterly stunned that this is his reality - he’s just been offered a position in a group to prepare for debut. 

he’s going to get to debut. it’s really going to happen - the thing he’s dreamt of for so many years now is going to happen and he’s going to live his dream. this doesn’t happen to people like him, he thinks. this happens to other people, and ten can only stand and congratulate them, and wish he too could be successful. this time, however, it’s him who’s been offered this chance. he’s just ten, a shorter than average, intensely insecure teen slash young adult who till that phone call had doubted he’d make it past his first year as a trainee before being booted out. 

but here he is, not even six months into being a trainee and he’s being offered the chance to debut. 

sliding his back down the wall beside him he sits with his phone clutched tightly between both hands, thinking over what will happen now, and how he’s going to tell people. how is he going to tell yuta, and dayoung? how is he going to break it to all the new friends he’d made at trc? joy, chanyeol, jaebum and many others? sure, they weren’t close friends exactly, but they were people he wanted to get closer to as time went on. 

would he be labelled a traitor? would yuta sneer at his decision? he knows how much yuta loves trc, and how it was always his dream company, but would he resent ten’s decision to leave and join sphere instead? sure, ten knew he’d never fit in in trc, he knew right from the start it wasn’t where he wanted to be, that it would’ve been his last choice - but when it had come down to it he’d believed it would be his only chance to try and get closer to his dream; in a way it was. 

trc, for ten, had become a stepping stone. had he never signed the contract, he’d have never had to chance to audition for sphere’s new boy group, and he’d not be here today. yet he still worries - what with trc’s reputation; it being the hardest company to get into and holding such a high status beside the other companies. 

that had never mattered to ten. he didn’t care how great the company was viewed as being. he didn’t care if it was the best company in south korea - if he felt out of place there, then it was because of the type of music the company produced, and the persona that lingered around all their artists. trc had the type of persona and reputation that ten just didn’t fit. sphere on the other hand seemed so much of a better fit. 

it’s been almost half an hour by the time ten realises he needs to tell someone, anyone. 

he lifts his phone and reaches the contact for ‘him’ - he presses call and holds the phone to his ear, heartbeat almost drowning out the ringing. finally, he answers.

“johnny? i need to see you.”

catching up! it's not really liveblogging any more...

lhh's got a new attribute! and it's.. legendary? he tries to check his attribute window, but he's still not able to open it. but the attribute name comes to his mind instead, 'record repairer'. the attribute is affected by the loss he has collected, and begins to repair his vanished records. ...what does that mean? he doesn't know, but it will be fixed in 1hr30.

along with this, the recorders of fear have noticed lhh's existence. and they consider him a threat. that's.. not good, but there's no more information. let's just focus on what's in front of us.

bang cheolsoo and the geumho station incarnations are back!! cheolsoo has become a king, and when lhh points it out, he offers his flag. it's purple, and if he took it he could immediately get the black flag and a king's attribute. but he doesn't take it.

why? he doesn't know why. maybe it's his selfish wish, as a writer. he wants to see their stories a little longer.

at the entrance to the dungeon, lhh decides to enter with just sys. they have to get the star jewels to summon the four yin demonic beheading sword. bang cheolsoo can't go because once you leave the dungeon, there's a 3 hour cooldown time. lhh can't wait, because the readers and lee dansu are definitely in there.

before going in, sys talks to dayoung. tells her that she has to be stronger, so she won't be afraid of adults. and that good adults die quickly.

entering the dungeon, the sub scenario arrives. they're in the star labyrinth, and there are a lot of special rules.

there's a 'labyrinth guard'. a minotaur, maybe?

the labryinth shifts every 3 hours, the entire maze bursting into flames as it changes structure.

there are safe zones that you can enter to avoid the flames. you can choose to exit the labyrinth while in a safe zone. a timer appears, showing just under 2 hours before the next shift. (the memory repair will complete before this. i hope it doesn't incapacitate him...)

incarnations will be given a 'dust man'. a little lump of dust with eyes! cute...

the 'dust man' produces a star jewel when it collects enough of the 'star dust' on the ground.

dust men can be combined. sys and lhh combine theirs into a single dust man, and it collects dust a lot faster.

going through the labyrinth, they explore the dungeon, collecting star dust. there are signs of fights everywhere, with dust scattered around fallen bodies. lee hakhyun wonders why they came to this place, just to die. maybe he knows why. they died to become a story. sys sees the body of a woman who had been kind to her, and says once again that good adults die quickly. lhh asks if she's alright, and she says that this has always happened even before the scenarios. people kill each other. it just wasn't as blatant. sys asks if lhh is religious, and he says no. even in a world where gods exist as constellations, he doesn't want to believe in anything. she then asks if humans have a soul, and he says yes. there might even be scenarios in the afterlife... sys tells lhh to not die, and he does the same.

they continue to get stronger as they go through the labyrinth. sys is about to say everything's going smoothly, but lhh cuts her off. still, the dust man in the air stops. a message pops up saying there's not a lot of star dust left. of course the scenario would never go this smoothly... they'll have to fight other incarnations to continue

7. the ability of an incarnation who has obtained a star jewel increases dramatically. 8. every time you get a star jewel, your 'madness' level rises.

the dust man starts trembling. there's a message saying an incarnation with a star jewel is nearby. something was coming this way, slightly shaking the ground. one of the seven kings is here.

Seola:

Seola was worried about you because you hadn’t been calling or texting as much as usual. When she eventually got a hold of you and you told her what was going on, she was pretty pissed off. She came to visit you at your studio, and she ended up talking to your manager. She wanted your manager to ease up on you a little, and she wouldn’t stop until that happened.

Xuan Yi:

Xuan Yi knew how hard it was to strive in such a competitive industry, but you shouldn’t work yourself into exhaustion. She had figured out that you were working way too hard, and she wanted to do something to make up for that. She bought you lots of little gifts, arranging them cutely and surprising you at practice one day. She wanted to give you something that you would remember to cheer you up when you were tired.

Bona:

In your relationship, Bona was always one to look after you. She came to your studio to visit you, and she saw how worn out you looked. She came in and turned off the music, making you take a break. You both sat down against the wall of the practice room, and she pulled you into her as you relaxed and she held you close, giving you water to drink too.

Exy:

Seeing as Exy is a leader, she would know how hard the idol life is, but she would hate to see any of her girls overworked. When she found out how tired you were and how hard your company was working you, she would go and find someone to talk to, and try and convince them to loosen the reigns on you a little, just so you wouldn’t endanger your health.

Soobin:

Soobin was smiling the whole ride towards your company, she was finally seeing you again. That smile vanished as soon as she saw you, panting heavily, shirt drenched in sweat. She rushed in, handing you a towel and your bottle from your bag. She said nothing, just pulled you down so she was holding you, making you feel comfortable and making sure you caught your breath before dancing again.

Luda:

Luda would storm right into the practice room and pull you out, muttering some half-assed excuse to your manager, not really caring. She didn’t want you to tire yourself out, and she wasn’t going to let you either. She called you an idiot for practising so hard, but it was only because she loved you so much that she didn’t want you to risk your health. Luda would keep an eye on your practising time from then on.

Dawon:

Dawon has noticed how tired you had been getting when you were with her, and she wanted to see what was up. She came to your company, only to see your manager shouting at you while you danced your hardest on your last bit of energy. She was extremely upset, and she ended up having a word with the manager. Thankfully he took her words to heart and eased up on you a little.

Eunseo:

It made Eunseo really upset to see you being worked to the bone, she wanted you to be given the proper treatment that you deserved. She promised herself that she would be there for you when she could, and would often tell funny stories about her members or crack jokes when she saw you were feeling down. She would cook you dinner and surprise you when she was able to be there after practice too.

Cheng Xiao:

Cheng Xiao certainly knew how tiring dancing could be, and she knew you had been working hard for your new comeback, but she didn’t expect you to have worked this hard. She sat you down and told you to take care of yourself like you took care of her. To make things easier for you, she came and danced with you when she had free time, so you weren’t alone.

Mei Qi:

When Mei Qi came to visit you at work, oh boy was she pissed off at what she saw. Your members were all allowed to leave, but you were kept back and you could barely even stand up at this point. She took you out of your practice room and brought you to your room, cuddling you and giving you water when you wanted it. She kissed you softly on the temple, reassuring you and cuddling closer.

Yeoreum:

Yeoreum was all giddy and excited, she finally had free time to visit you. She saw you alone, practising to your new song. She noticed you slowing down, and you looked so tired. She walked in, switching off the music so you noticed her. She raised an eyebrow, opening her arms for a hug, which you almost threw yourself into, just wanting to relax. She held you close, giggling at how clingy you were, but also still worried. She wouldn’t let you go until you were okay again.

Dayoung:

Dayoung is so considerate to everyone, and you were no exception. She watched from the doorway as you struggled to finish the routine, so exhausted. She brought you snacks and water, making you take a break. She didn’t let you practice for the rest of the night, making sure you slept and ate well so you were fully energized for practice tomorrow.

Yeonjung:

Yeonjung came to see the new dance you had been learning, and what she saw was you, lying on the floor of your practice room, panting for air. She rushed in, asking if you needed anything, or wanted anything. She scolded you a little, but she just wanted you to learn to take care of yourself when she wasn’t with you. She texted you every day since, making sure you were drinking enough water and eating well.
