Gender fluidity: Bobrisky's best dressed female award ignites debate
Tumblr media
By John Goodness Nkeiruka Nigerian crossdresser, influencer and self-described "gender fluid" person, Bobrisky, was awarded the "best dressed female" award at the AJAKAJU movie premiere in Lagos, Nigeria on Sunday, March 24th, 2024. This award has sparked controversy and debate, as many people have questioned whether or not it is appropriate to give the "best dressed female" award to someone who does not identify as female. The award has also reignited the debate over gender identity. Many people have argued that the award should only be given to someone who identifies as female, as it is meant to celebrate the beauty and style of women. Some have argued that by giving the award to Bobrisky, it is invalidating the experiences and achievements of women who have worked hard to be recognized for their style and beauty. Others have argued that Bobrisky should be allowed to express his gender identity however he chooses, and that the award should not be limited to those who identify as female. The reactions to Bobrisky's award as "best dressed female" have been mixed, with some people expressing outrage and others defending the decision. Actress Dayo Amusa said, "The judge disrespected every woman there by choosing Bobrisky as the best dressed female for the AJAKAJU movie premiere." Singer Portable released a video expressing his disgust at the award and how unfair it was to other women who were present at the movie premiere. Actress Toyin Abraham expressed shock and disappointment at Bobrisky winning the award instead of herself or other women The controversy surrounding Bobrisky's award has brought up important issues surrounding gender, representation, and inclusion. Some people have argued that awards like this should only go to people who identify as female, as the award is meant to celebrate and recognize women's achievements. Others have argued that gender is a spectrum, and that awards like this should be open to all people, regardless of their gender identity. They argue that Bobrisky's win is a step towards greater inclusion and representation of all genders. Read the full article

Nollywood actress Ibinabo Fiberesima has sparked online buzz with a new photo featuring her ex, Fred Amata.   The former couple reunited at the 20th Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), where Ibinabo posed alongside Fred. Posting the pictures on her Instagram an hour ago, Ibinabo referred to him as her daughter's father and shared her affection for him. “My pikin papa. Papa Zino @fredomata. We love you”. Read Also: My Treasure Has Arrived – Dayo Amusa Unveils First Glimpse of Her Baby Boy In another post, she shared a photo of him and his daughter as she affirmed her love for him. This comes just days after Ibinabo reunited with Agatha Amata, Fred’s ex-wife. She posted a photo of herself and Agatha with Peter Okoye’s song "Winning" playing in the background, highlighting the lyrics, “I would rather congratulate you than hate you.” Ibinabo also praised herself and Agatha for being strong women and wished them continued success. To recall, Fred and Agatha ended their marriage in 2005, which produced two children, Oreva (the groom) and Stephanie. In an interview, Agatha acknowledged that her separation from Fred took a toll on her, despite their marriage not working out. She shared that many still wish she would reconcile with Fred, but emphasized that no one can wish her well more than she can herself. Agatha also mentioned that she had no intention of leaving her marriage when she got married but realized that an unhappy home cannot nurture happy children. Hence, she makes every effort to co-parent effectively and maintain a friendly relationship, despite the challenges. Following his split from Agatha, Fred moved on with actress Ibinabo Fiberesima. The two reportedly had a marriage and share a daughter together, co-parenting successfully. Although there were rumors of them reconciling after they appeared together during Omotola Jalade Ekeinde’s birthday celebration, Ibinabo dismissed the speculation, clarifying that Fred is her child’s father and they maintain a cordial relationship.

Actress Dayo Amusa reacts as Bobrisky wins ‘Best Dressed Female’ award
Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has condemned the award of the ‘Best Dressed Female’ to popular crossdresser, Bobrisky, at a recent movie premiere. DAILY POST reports that Bobrisky was adjudged the Best Dressed Female at the movie premiere in Lagos over the weekend and received a cash prize of N1 million. However, reacting via a video message shared on her Instagram account, Amusa said it was a mockery of the women present at the event. She said, “I was at a colleague of mine premiere yesterday, they said the best dressers are to be picked; one female and one male best dresser. Don’t get me wrong, the winner could be anyone but definitely not a crossdresser. I mean, what’s wrong with us? I don’t understand it. “I cannot imagine the judges disrespecting every woman that was there. You had to pick a winner, a female best dressed and a male best dressed and you watered the efforts of all the women at the event by giving the best dressed female to a crossdresser. I don’t understand, what is wrong with us? “If you feel you want to honour crossdressers, you should have created their own category instead of disrespecting women by giving a crossdresser the best dressed female award.” Read the full article
