Daylily ‘Catherine Woodbury’. First day of bloom this season. Its position in the garden has lost some sun over the years but it keeps coming back, lovely as ever.

Plant nerd alert: notice anything unusual here? That lower daylily has 4 sets of petals and sepals instead of three. The word for it is polymerous. I had heard of it but never had one myself, so I was excited to see it. Each bloom only lasts a day ( hence *day*lily) so I’ll enjoy it while it lasts. Cool anomaly.
