An Inu-Spiration Tanabata Bang Collaboration with Dawnrider

It was my absolute privilege to be paired with @dawnrider for this bang. We've known each other for a while, and I adore her writing. I just know you're going to love her story - it has all the things I cherish in an Inuyasha canon setting that make me kick my heels in glee while I'm reading. Please leave her some love in the comments when you reblog!

Once you've read Dawnrider's story, this art will make more sense. I wanted to convey the feeling that Inuyasha and Kagome got caught up in something much bigger than themselves, and it meant that my art started out on a regular sized canvas and then got dragged into panoramic proportions when I realised it wasn't conveying the feeling the story evoked for me.

This one took a while for me to do, and me dragging my feet had absolutely nothing to do with Dawn's amazing work - my life at the moment is just full of Too Many Things. But there's nothing like an ADHD panic fest at the last minute to make you produce something - I'm just lucky I live on the arse end of the Earth and it gives me an extra 11 hours or so, otherwise I absolutely would have been marked down for handing in my assignment in a tardy fashion...

Anyway, I hope you like it! Can't wait to see all the lovely art and fiction crossing our dash for this event!

This is a year long collaboration with @elkonigin, @clearwillow, @mamabearcat, @dawnrider, @inuyashamybeloved and myself about Inuyasha's human nights, all spent in Kagome's era, and how things evolve over time. “A warm sensation flooded him as he looked down into Kagome’s gentle, watery eyes. Something possessed him and he had a feeling it was more than his own inner demon. Her lips were calling him, enticing him with their rosy fullness. Those were lips that looked like they wanted to be kissed. But does Kagome want me to kiss her? As his head dipped ever so slightly, Inuyasha smelled the warmth of something exotic in her scent, the call of her body on his own. Her eyes slowly fell shut and her chin lifted ever so slightly. If anyone had ever looked like they wanted to be kissed, it was Kagome in that moment. Inuyasha didn’t want to be the one to disappoint her.”

It’s an unpublished (unfortunately 😭) story yet, but because we share the same passion for Cirque de Soleil, and their whole world Dawn let me draw for it and show you. (Thank you! 🥰)

It’s maybe not a secret that I love anatomy and acrobatics, and I hope you enjoy these just as much as I enjoyed drawing them.

🫣🫣 This one is SO hard, because I'm not feeling the best about my work atm. But I guess I try really hard to lean into the senses when I write? It's not just about the narrative, but filling in those details that make a reader feel as though they're in the scene. That's something I work really hard at, and I think that sometimes I can do this well?

🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.

Oooh, related question! See above! But one thing I've been really interested in of late is thinking about fics as fleshing out the canon universe. So incorporating characters' thoughts, feelings, emotions, actions, etc., as they support what's in canon, as they give additional meaning to canon. It's a fun take for me, as it sends me back to the original text to think about what I can do, how I can add to it, offer my take.

I also want fics to feel as realistic as I can, so I spend way too much time researching. It's the academic in me, but it's also my OCD. Stories need to be just so; a scene must be painted in a way that demonstrates realism, no matter how fantastic the setting. I want readers to feel immersed, and so I like to add in things that maximize that experience.

40 Day Anime Challenge 2023 Edition - Day 40: Anime that changed you the most

Inuyasha

Okay this is like..... suuuuuuper late, but I have a Lot of Thoughts jsdbfkdsfbsd

Most of my followers on here know that for a hot minute, Inuyasha was my #1 fandom. On ff.net, it still has the highest number of fic faves on my account, and the majority of the fics I've written are for, you guessed it, Inu-freaking-yasha.

The more anime and manga I consume, the more apparent Inuyasha's flaws become, but I still look back on it fondly. The characters are memorable, the music is top-notch, and the story, though a mess, is still entertaining and a fantastic premise. There are so many gems in the series, both the manga and anime.

There are a LOT of anime and manga series that stuck with me over the years, and though Vampire Knight is probably the better fit because it introduced me to the world of anime/manga as a whole (while ALSO remaining my #1 favorite manga series), I ultimately chose Inuyasha this time around solely for one reason: THE FANDOM.

I credit two major fandoms for getting me into fanfiction: Frozen and Inuyasha. Honorable Mention is Harry Potter, but that one barely counts because it took me YEARS to accept HP fanfic as a whole, whereas I fell down the Frozen and Inuyasha rabbit holes fairly easily.

Frozen got the ball rolling, but Inuyasha became the avalanche.

The longest fics I ever read are for Inuyasha, the longest being over a MILLION WORDS. The first fics I wrote were for Inuyasha. Nearly HALF of all my 1,134 favorited fics on ff.net are for Inuyasha.

When I officially started writing more fics in 2017 and "joined" the fandom, I learned how to "be in a fandom" for the first time. I learned about balancing my ship opinions versus others, I learned about my own internalized Purity Culture tendencies, I wrote soooo much InuKag smut and was inspired to write/read more, but I also learned, eventually, to have boundaries and to curate my own experience, regardless of what "the masses" wanted.

I made friends, and even though we don't talk as much anymore, I still fondly remember the madness of the early Discord days lol XD @keichanz, @eternalnight8806-3, @thunderpot, @clearwillow, @dawnrider, @meggz0rz, @britonell, @mamabearcat, @cammysansstuff, @morikothehalfangel, @amostsovereignlady, etc (plus many others that I cannot find their blogs anymore) just know this: I remember our chaotic chats fondly and hope y'all are doing well ❤

This series was one of my earliest and more intense "SQUEEEEE"ing over my ship, my frustrating yet fulfilling journey of loving and hating the anime simultaneously lmao, and my biggest and most influential foray into online fandom. I would have not have returned to it if it wasn't so dearly important to me, flaws and all. ❤

I usually have this Oscar Wilde quote from The Importance of Being Earnest in my head when I'm writing -

“The good ended happily, and the bad unhappily. That is what Fiction means.”

In the broadest sense, I always aim for happy endings, and at the very worst, bittersweet endings. There is only one fic I've written that is not happy - The Widow's Howl. I've been there. There is no happiness in that, but bitter acceptance. Because sometimes, life rips you apart, but it's not only about you, but also those you need to care for.

Plot wise, there's usually a starting point in my head, and an ending point. The stuff in between is kinda zen navigation. This is why I am a s l o w writer.

I don't know if I've ever been nervous about posting a fic. There have been a few times where I've gone 'huh, I think this is a little more revealing about my personal preferences than maybe it should be. Oh well'. Fanfiction is a play ground where you can move your paper dolls around and dress them up and explore different feelings and emotions and scenarios.

My main worry about my writing is that I'll cause upset for someone if there's a scene that is physically violent or unsettling. That's why I love AO3, because I can tag all the things. And put warnings. All the warnings.

There is a fic I'm writing that involves violence at a school where I've asked for input from someone who has more knowledge on that subject than I do, because even though I'm writing fantasy (hello youkai, miko and magic users) I aim for realism as best I can.

which inukag fanfiction that should become a novel?

Hi nonnie! I'm not sure if you mean converting any specific InuKag fic into an original novel, or if you're referring to printing and binding and InuKag fic to display on your shelf, so for the purposes of it being fic I'm going with the later, but I wouldn't say any fanfic author couldn't if they wanted to either.

Instead of listing any fic in particular, I gotta list some authors, because they've all got multiple fics that would be worthy in my opinion. (I also haven't had a lot of time to read 😅) Tagging as names come to mind, because there's no way to order these as they all have something incredible about their writing:
