Dawn Redwood 2nd Styling~

With all the recent rain, I was able to add movement to the trunk. When I first worked this tree, earlier this spring (see my earlier post, Dawn Redwood Transformed, below), once I got the arch in the trunk, it wouldn’t budge another millimeter.

Now in it’s new home, a pot made especially for this tree, it is beginning to take shape.

Refinement ~

It’s a long way from, “hey, that’s pretty good,” to the sublime. Often it’s the little things. I shared my first styling of my Transformed New Dawn Redwood with a local Bonsai artist for a critique. He suggested some movement in the arch of the trunk. I had that in my original sketch I drew the evening before working on this tree. But sometimes you can only take the material so far. But he’s right, just a bit of movement in the long arched section will add that something. At the moment, she just won’t budge. Perhaps when it has had sometime to settle into this radically different shape? In the meantime, I added some shape to the few branches at the apex.

18ℓは女性には重い。 ・ 何の話かと言えばお察しの通り灯油だ。20ℓだと運べる自信がないので18ℓ単位で購入している。 ・ 因みにうちの灯油ケースはスタンダードマニュアルさんで扱っている塗料缶のような形のもの。スタンド側で用意している台に収まらなくて、でも地面に置くとトランクの高さまで持ち上げるのが大変だからと左手で台の上のケースを支え、右手でノズルという二刀流のような状態で集中して給油していたわけです。その時… ・ 「あの、空気圧チェックとか宜しいでしょうか？」 「え？」⇦ちょっとイラッとしている 「タイヤの空気圧チェックです。良かったら」 「年末ディーラーで点検したばかりなので大丈夫です」⇦先の作業をしながら振り返ってるのでもはや必死 ・ そして店員さんが去り、ほっとして規定量までの間に一度止まってしまうノズルを引き上げ、再度トリガーを引いた瞬間。 ・ やってしまった。 あり得ない量で飛び散る灯油。 ・ 隣で給油していた人にかかってしまったのではないかと慌てて謝ったら、「いや、自分（かからなかったので）迷惑かかってないっす」と言ってくれてホッとしたけど、いくら拭き取っても帰りの車内は死ぬほど灯油臭いし、繰り返すけど女性に満タンの灯油ケースは重いので、集中してるときはなるべくそっとして置いてくださいという話でした。 ・ あと余談だけど帰り道、反対車線で事故があったらしくパトカーやら救急車やらが集まってたので、こっちの車線だったら、、と人の生死は紙一重な感覚を思い出しながら帰ったのでした。（この手の時間差で事故や事件を免れるケースはわりと良くある） ・ 写真はもちろん無関係だ。 ・ #metasequoia #dawnredwood #endangered #forest #sunset #lineoftrees https://www.instagram.com/p/BsYKum_nnNt/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=13vpx7b10kjra
