I have heard from film maker Sue Vicory! Sue will have copies of her excellent documentary, Kansas City Jazz and Blues; Past Present and Future at the Jam at BBs this Saturday from 2:00-5:30. DVDs will be up for auction and Sue is donating all proceeds to Mama Ray to help with medical bills due to recent health issues. Mama Ray is in this film, along with myself, and many others of the Kansas City Jazz and Blues community that you know and love. And don't forget, Dawayne Gilley's iconic 2009 poster of Kansas City Jazz and Blues musicians gathered outside of the Mutual Musicians Foundation will be available for $100 and all proceeds will go to Mama Ray. If you missed out on the Mama Ray Benefit a few weeks ago or showed up and couldn't get in you have another chance! Our photographer friend Dawayne Gilley was there but couldn't get in because it was jam-packed all day. So he's offering a deal! Fundraiser Part 2 2009 Mutual Musicians Foundation posters will be $100. All proceeds to benefit "Mama" Diane Ray. He will also have Evie Quarles great images on hand of your favorite musicians and vocalists to help raise some $$$ too. The poster is a slice of KC music history, folks! I'm in it, Mama Ray is in it and many of the people you see sitting in with us at BBs over the years are in it. All the Jazz and Blues people were there! Some folks in the picture are no longer with us. If you're at all interested in Kansas City music history, this poster is something you should have! I have one and let me tell you, this poster is ABSOLUTELY suitable for framing and will soon be adorning a wall in my newly renovated Master Guitar School studio!
