1: As usual when I start working on a ‘me’ character, by the time I finished working on her she was no longer me, lol (I have no particular fondness for poinsettias). Gifted to me here.

2 & 3: Kazumi Yoshida haters will be blocked on sight (joking, you’ll only be blocked if you’re rude about it).

4: “I find the Aizen siblings more annoying, but they are also harder to draw,” I said, and then proceeded to struggle with the lighting lollll.

5: I should clarify I haven’t read the Light Novels entirely, but from what I have read then this is what I’ve gleaned. (Thank you Poor Man Translation and Baka-Tsuki translators!) As for the ship themselves, I can and have made rants about how much I love my OTP and they’re perfect for each other, so I decided to spare you and just give a summary of how I interpret their canon relationships.

6: I made their eyes too big, and forgot to write that he knows it’s romantic because of the expensiveness of the chocolate + the mysterious note attached (which I also forgot to draw. lol) . . . BUT! I still really like this. I should make more little comics with them. For more info on Valentines Day in Japan watch this Youtube Short.

7: . . . I may have already sketched some things for this AU, haha!

8: I think Keisaku would have some trouble with understanding all of Outlaw’s terminology when he first starts working for them.

9: With the second question, after having re-read the manga it seems like time doesn’t stop—but I’m still curious about how this is perceived! Do teachers end up not teaching certain classes? Has anyone ever been fired over work they weren’t able to do because they were in a seal? If not, why?

Inhuman beings rampage in the shadows of this world. Long ago, a poet dubbed them the "Crimson Denizens". The Denizens crossed over from what they call the "Swirling Cathedral" and the poet called the Crimson Realm, a world right next to this one which can't be reached by foot. They manifest themselves and bring forth impossibilities by stealing humans' source of existence, Power of Existence. They did as they pleased, as much as their power allowed, until they were destroyed.Humans whose Power of Existence had been devoured by Denizens would cease to exist. The loss of something which should have continued extending, connecting and spreading, causes the state of the world to distort. Due to the Denizens' unrestricted rampancy, those distortions were growing larger at an increasing speed.Eventually, among the powerful Denizens, the Crimson Lords, ones who harbored apprehensions at this situation began to emerge. They thought that the large distortions would one day cause a Great Calamity to befall both this world and the Crimson Realm. Thus, some of the Crimson Lords made the painful decision of hunting their brethren. Their vanguards, or rather weapons, were humans who wished for revenge against Denizens, humans who offered their entire existences as the Lords' Vessels and gained superhuman powers... they were the destroyers known as Flame Haze...

Yūji Sakai, a high school student, expected his very normal life to last forever. However, this expectation is quickly shattered one day while on his way home.

Time suddenly freezes, leaving Yūji to watch in horror as blue flames engulf the people around him. Soon a monster resembling a large doll appears and begins sucking the flames into its mouth, until it notices Yūji. Surprised by Yūji's immunity to the time-stop, it prepares to consume him.

However a sword-wielding girl in black attire with flaming red eyes and hair appears, destroying the monster, before noticing Yūji moving freely. The girl calls herself a "Flame Haze" who hunts the "Denizens of the Crimson Realm" and the "Rinne" they send to do their bidding. When Yūji notices a blue flame in his chest, the Flame Haze tells him that the "real" Yūji died some time ago, and that he is a "Torch", a temporary replacement for erased humans. Torches take on the forms of those erased persons, but after a period of time, they will vanish from existence and the memories of the living. Unfazed by his apparent death, Yūji befriends the strange girl and names her "Shana" after her sword. Expecting Yūji to slowly fade away like all other Torches do, Shana is surprised to find that Yūji is not a normal Torch, but instead a special kind called a "Mystes": he has a treasure inside him, known as a "Treasure Tool", a device possessing special abilities of sorts, and an extremely powerful and valuable one at that. Shana resolves to protect Yūji from the Denizens, who would use the treasure to disrupt the balance of the world, and Yūji decides to join Shana in her fight.

Shana's fight is actually a long-standing struggle between the Lords and Denizens of the Crimson Realm. The Denizens steal Power of Existence, the energy that forms the basis of the world, from living people and utilize it for their own selfish ambitions. Lords are the mortal enemies of Denizens, and utilize Flame Haze to attempt to retain balance. Thus, the Flame Haze create Torches in the image of the dead in order to relieve the strain on reality resulting from the actions of the Denizens.

During their time together both Shana and Yūji begin to realize their affection for each other. During Shana's numerous battles with the Flame Haze she has realizes that whenever Yūji is close and concerned about her, her powers increase, awakening the Flame inside her...

The nursery rhyme 'See saw Margery Daw' dates back to at least 1765 when it was published in Mother Goose's Melody.

Its origin is debated. It might have come from a work song sung by sawyers to help them keep rhythm when using a two-person saw. Another possibility is that it refers to child labor in the workhouses of the time.

'Daw' is English slang for a lazy person, but there is no evidence that the rhyme is based on a real individual.

Anyway this version is sufficiently haunting and captures the rhyme's spirit in my opinion, as it always struck me as quite hopeless and sad.

Shakugan OTPs:

Khamsin x Kazumi (Khami)

I will never be able to explain exactly why I ship them, because I've had them as an OTP for so long that they’re just stuck in my brain. I probably wouldn't ship them if I hadn't started when I was thirteen and looking to ship Kazumi with someone—but then again, they work to understand each other better, she’s the only one who makes him smile, she’s implied to be his motivation to keep fighting for a better world, she surprises him, he is the only character in the series who gets her, she’s the only one he opens up to at all, he dies protecting her, they get a significant goodbye scene, he’s looking at her instead of anyone else present as he dies, she’s the main character with the saddest ending but keeps going strong just like he said she would . . . so like, maybe I would.

Yuji x Shana(Shanji)

They’re the main ship in the series, so if you like the series I probably don’t have to explain it. But Yuji gives Shana her humanity back, helps her access her emotions, and gives her companionship. Meanwhile, he falls in love with her so deeply that he becomes a strong fighter, turns the entire world upside-down for her, and decides to wander eternally without her just trying to atone for betraying her trust. Then Shana refuses to let him be alone, and they get their happy ending!

Keisaku Satou x Margery Daw (Keigery)

They have this slow-build dynamic, which eventually grows into romantic dedication. It starts when he’s one her lackeys who have a crush on her, and ends with them being emotional equals. He becomes dedicated to helping her, and she manages to hang on to life past her life purpose falling apart explicitly because of her feelings for him. It’s SO CUTE!

Because of my personal clothing choices, I rarely post drawings of girls in clothes that show their shoulders, never post them in something low-cut, and they always have clothes that go to their knees.
