The “RED” Era for David

Taylor said it best, RED resembles a heartbroken person. I, David am a heartbroken person. from when she released RED in 2012, to Taylor’s Version of RED in 2021, she couldn't have release an album more prefect for me to help me get through 2 awful moments in my life. 

2012: I had lost my grandma, life was just awful, I was working at McDonald's and I was dealing leaving Luis from SD, dealing with that mess of a long-distance relationship for over a year of loving (what I though love was) and being a completely different person. But Taylor released RED, it was the start of new life lessons and new ideas of what a person and love could be. THE LAST TIME and ALL TOO WELL were replay songs of what I had lost and singing them over and over again. I had met the love of my life in 2013 and from there, I began to change for the better. BEGIN AGAIN was a song I related to because for the first time, someone cared for me and was nicer and showed what it meant to be safe with someone. EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED was a song that helped me understand that with the right person, things can be fun, exciting and wonderful. then in 2014 I believe, Taylor toured for the album and I with a few close loved ones, went to see my queen live and it was the best magical experience i could have ever experienced. To hear her sing STATE OF GRACE live and hear Ed Sheeran sing live back before I knew who he was was so amazing to get to witness. 22 was a amazing song to get to hear and sing when I turned 22 on my birthday and it just felt like Taylor was singing happy birthday to me. RED in 2012 was a game changer for me.

2021: Taylor had said months ago during this time that she was going to re record her music again because of wanting to own her own music since being stolen and sold to SB. she released Taylors Version of FEARLESS and that was magical (that's another post for that album). When she announced that it was the 2nd album to be rerecorded and released in November of 2021, I didn't release how huge it was gonna impact my life yet again with same and vault songs. the album yet again came out again, her version and this time, it changed my life again and Taylor said “RED is a heartbroken person” little did I know, I was about to be a huge heartbroken person having to leave my partner of 9 years and embark on a mental health journey. I ALMOST DO had new meaning for me even writing this, wanting to call you but I have to stop myself because I know its not right, but I almost do. THE LAST TIME and SAD BEAUTIFUL TRAGIC had new meaning to my life after the breakup, you never realize a song will have meaning to you until the song finds you in that time of going through whatever the song is about like SAD BEAUTIFUL TRAGIC. the vault songs, damn those songs. BETTER MAN is the top songs for me wishing you were a better person for us so we could have stayed together but you weren't and i wish you were, a BETTER MAN. THE VERY FIRST NIGHT is fast paced but it tells the story of our first time being together and the fun times and how I wish we could go back to it and do it over again. and lets not forget ALL TOO WELL (10 MINUTE VERSION). the longer version of this song is what was needed in my life, to tell the story of me and how I was happy in a relationship an the other person just not being what you needed. having those memories and plans and having the other person just being so different from the beginning and having you cry on the floor in deep tears because you want them but they don't care enough for you. ALL TOO WELL has a new meaning to me i never expected and honestly didn't want but it does now. i remember it, ALL TOO WELL.

RED is a heartbroken person, happy, free, confused, lonely, devastated, euphoric and tortured by memories past. not only does RED belong back to Taylor, but it now also more than ever, belongs to me, DAVID. @taylorswift​ @taylornation
