Needham boys hockey takes advantage of Braintree miscues in win

RANDOLPH – Head coach Dave Fasano knew his Braintree boys hockey team didn’t play its best game Saturday, resulting in a 2-1 loss against Needham. “We made too many mistakes, we played brutal, simple as that,” Fasano said. “Today we were not very good, we made too many mistakes. My friend Bill texted me a link to a show we did in early August 1987 in Bloomington, Indiana when that shit was on live broadcast TeeVee. I had never seen this video before. Some crazy shit because no one had ever executed such a deconstructed drum corps show to that degree before. I was surrounded by amazing competitors and I was SCV’s The Last Dance Jordan equivalent. I’m actually tired of explaining what that means.

I love that we played a victory concert to the closing credits.

But, it was good for me to see this even though I sat on it for a week. The commentary is priceless. I knew we were great, naturally, but I wasn’t actually certain if we were revered or if that was time and memory doing that thing thing that time and memory does.

You can’t really hear any of the (drum) parts (or any of the music or see shit, really, because the recording is archeological) but I know what they are even though tempos are much faster than the parts that have played in my head for the last 33 years. Pretty remarkable all around.

Most importantly, I know that a lot of the musicians were real life pros; just fucking dogs. Nice af. Monsters for life. My killers among killers were Dave “Rone” Gary, Jr., R.I.P., James “K-Boo” Travers, Mike “Smiley” Needham, Joe “Kamikaze” Gilster, Eddie “Ed Thanks” Barguiarena, and Nate “Point & Giggle” Beck. There were others, for sure, but these cats were different. Real. We were self-admitted jerks and we only there to win a world championship.

To this day I only associate with pros.

This looks like some kind of weird flirtation.

An excellent double-length episode, where a burglary leads to the identification of a murderer. It’s always nice to have one where Rod actually gets things right, and his conviction is well supported by Chris & Suzi and their rather more advanced interpersonal skills.

Also Greg Donaldson’s second and final guest appearance before he takes on the role of Tom Proctor later this season.
