When I started my business, I literally had $37 in my bank account. My first 10 clients I did for FREE. In exchange they marketed for me. Within weeks I had new and returning clients! Every penny I made went back into my business. I bought a massage table from Craigslist, ordered business cards from China, built my website myself, and negotiated the rate on my booking system like I was buying a new car! I squeezed the life out of every dollar. Within 6 months, I added a 2nd slightly larger studio to my original 200sqft. Then, I focused on building a team. I did the math a thousand times, and numbers don't lie. The only way I'd reach my goals would be to duplicate my efforts in the salon and develop additional streams of income beyond service. So we added training, professional and consumer products and consulting to our portfolio. My intention for sharing this info is not to boast our accomplishments, but to inspire and empower.
