@ao3topshipsbracket @girllbossmalewifeduos
Reminder to be kind and civil. These are real people and we dont need any arguments.
ao3topshipbracket propaganda:
god this bracket's datavis was so sexy. they had LIVE UPDATING GRAPHS.
"voter fraud has always been allowed. blackbonnet will advance until it is beaten" is the funniest mod ruling i have ever seen in my life.
if you have time to send death threats, you have time to do voter fraud!!!!!
they've run two brackets (ao3 top ships in 2023, tumblr top ships in 2024). BOTH brackets had insane site-breaking discourse, and yet the mod team is still going strong and promising a return next year. no other big poll bracket does it like these guys do it
Very awesome, very cool, good ships

Habis kelas Datavis lalu perutku kosong, tapi otakku lebih kosong h3h3h3 si paling coding sok-sok-an banget ambil kelas itu 😌
It’s been awhile since the last time I checked my typeform page then finding out recent results has put a smile on my face (as I wasn’t expecting any new inputs).

Jason Salavon: Data aesthetics
Jason Salavon, Shoes, Domestic Production, 1960-1998 2001, Digital C-prints & DVD, 48 " x 48". Ed. 6 + 2 APs http://salavon.com/work/Shoes/grid/7/
Just got a DM from Jason Salavon, which reminded me of seeing this piece ca.2005 and being blown away by it.
Clinically speaking, this is a correct, readable datavis of data about domestic shoe production. Rendering it as a lush psychedelic animation, Salavon subverts that function, a dry joke of sorts where data about industrial manufacture is turned into near-sacral eye candy.
This piece is from 2001 (no shaders!), and @salavon was working independent of the early 2000's emerging generative art scene. Jason and a few other artists (Mark Napier comes to mind) were already exploring similar generative themes from a different cultural context.

Normally, I wouldn't do this, a shy, reserved & private person as I am. But since u r here, I might as well give away a little bit about myself: [to those who bump into me by accident, *greetings*]
SOMETHING ABOUT ME
SOME OF THE BASICS (that doesn't make into the description)
she/her
20+
autistic, social phobia (or what aptly abbreviated as SAD, Social Anxiety Disorder), INFJ-T*
asexual, and perhaps a bit too wise/rational (or much too of an avoidant) to get into the relationship business 🤦♀️
been here for almost a decade now, (yup, I'm more comfortable with the Internet)
into a lot: art, fiction (esp. fantasy), animation in general (thou I LOVE DreamWorks), photography, writing, analysis and datavis
mail/chat/ask(s) are always welcome. feel free to pop an ask, I'm more than willing to answer :)
sideblog that features exclusively art of DreamWorks @art-of-dreamworks-animations
* according to this: if you are ever to take the famous MBTI test, definitely give it a go! It's a free online test btw.
FANDOMS (incomplete, subject to change)
archived fandom (that I still adore): - rotg, - httyd series (trilogy + tv shows), - BBC Sherlock, - a bit Doctor Who, - Harry Potter
currently active: - pib, - book series by Cressida Cowell (httyd & twoo)
* I love CRESSIDA COWELL to the moon and back, though I rarely post anything abt her here, sorry. Strongly recommended! To whoever of you new to her, GO READ HER BOOKS! THEY R MASTERPIECES!!
MEMORIAL FOR CANCELLED ANIMATION MASTERPIECES (by DreamWorks) : a kind reminder to what we have lost *sigh*
Me & My Shadow
Puss in Boots 2: Nine Lives and 40 Thieves (later replaced by Puss in Boots: the Last Wish, detailed analysis *under way*)
Larrikins (made into short Bilby)
Monkeys of Mumbai

I'm excited to have had an article published today in Nightingale, the @datavizsociety online magazine... "It was by accident and during a crossroads in @Phoenix's life, when she found dataviz. A practical person, good at DIY, with creative problem-solving skills, read about how data visualization scratched an itch for more artistic expressions for that creativity" https://nightingaledvs.com/discovering-data-visualisation-how-i-discovered-and-fell-in-love-with-data-visualisation-art/ #datavizualisation #datavisualisation #datavis #dataviz #informationisbeautiful https://www.instagram.com/p/CkbZNhkD9K7/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

A lot of people ask me: Pie Chart Pirate, which programming language do you use for making these videos? I sometimes jokingly say: “I use R matey”. But this is not true, I prefer to use python. By • @piechartpirate Have you ever wondered which programming language is the most popular in general? Look no further! This video shows the programming language market share between 2012 and 2021. These values should be taken with a grain of sold as they only represent public GitHub repositories. I can imagine private commercial code might use the C languages more often. #programming #computerscience #python #javascript #ruby #C #C++ #java #data #datavisualization #datavisualizations #dataviz #infographic #graphicdesign #editorial #visualdesign #design #infographie #datajournalism #digitaldesign #datavis #diagram #datajournalism #datavisualization Tools: python, pandas, tkinter Sources: madnight github https://www.instagram.com/p/CRhDIrgjvzh/?utm_medium=tumblr
