Writeblr Re-Intro, 4th Edition
Hi! I'm copper or dragon or whatever else you wanna call me. Minor, he/him preferred but they/them also works. My main is @copper-dragon-in-disguise. I'm queer & neurodivergent.
Asks and messages welcome! I might take a while to respond to them but I like them. I mostly write fantasy, and my current main WIP is a steampunk fantasy murder mystery called Herald At Dawn. I also have a few back burner WIPs, which are all below the cut. (also, these all have taglists, if you're interested i can add you to them!)
Post subject to updates at any time.
My WIPs:
Herald At Dawn (#wip: herald at dawn)
Synopsis: 11 years ago a woman named Marisol Ekker was murdered by the wife of her son's father, Evelyn Belmont. Despite evidence to the contrary, Evelyn Belmont was acquitted, and faced no punishment. Nearly a decade later, investigative reporter Alexandrina McLelland approached Marisol Ekker's son, Nathaniel--who was 12 at the time of her death--, to write an article about the corruption present in the case. Shortly after the article is published a string of murders begins, with no seeming rhyme or reason to connect the victims. But the timing seem suspect, and as the fallout of the articles publishing hits Nathaniel, more and more people keep dying, until the killer targets somebody much closer to home than Alex would've ever guessed.
Herald At Dawn was originally done for NaNo 2023 (I did a half nano, 25k not 50k), and its a steampunk murder mystery with a dash of fantasy. Set in a city called Volimere, it tells the story of the staff of a newspaper called The Clockwork Herald, and their adventures with a murder. The main POV character is Alexandrina McLelland (she/her), an investigative reporter. It's gay as fuck and also the first in what I intend to be a series!
Backburner WIPs:
Some context: The first three are all inspired by dnd characters/campaigns, and are in the same world/universe. The fourth is also in the same universe & dnd inspired, but it doesn't have a specific character attached to it.
Frost & Fire (#wip: frost & fire)
Synoposis: The death of an ancient primordial dragon brings the greatest (if not that well known) adventurers of the last centuries together. Enna Helder-Kromlin, half-Elf thief and contractor for the crown of Halmond, along with her sister, Anne, leader of the thieves guild Oleski. Anastrannia & Redari Galendel, twin half-Frost Dragon, half-Elves, one a shadow ranger and one a shadow sorcerer. They must work together, if not get along, to stop a evil dragon named Dizerdrat from trying to claim the power released by the death for himself, because if he does his could conquer the world—and would.
Frost & Fire is my original WIP, and I need to rework the plot a lot, but I still quite like it. Its about two twin half-elves named Anne (she/they) and Enna (any pronouns) Helder-Kromlin , and their efforts to stop a dragon from using magic (that he got from killing another, different dragon who was as old as time, pretty much) to conquer the world (this one particular continent, but despite the fact that they're spectacularly well traveled for half-elf orphans neither of them have ever actually left the continent, so its the world to them). Along the way they meet Anastrannia (she/they/ze) and Redari (they/he) Galendel, two siblings who have a lot of secrets and know a suspicious amount about dragons. This has a wip intro, though it isn't super current, but I'm linking it anyway.
One of Copper (#wip: one of copper)
Synopsis: The current god of death, Illa, came to power during a war between the gods a thousand years ago. A wizard is now trying to start another one, aiming to kill a god and take their place. Illa does not want to see another celestial war. She has no direct influence on the mortal plane, however, and so she outsources the quest to a ragtag group of heroes, when the original group of heroes sends back a memo saying that they're retired, and she can come down herself and make them go herself if she's so insistent.
One of Copper is about a bard named Kairon (he/they) and his friends, Ash (she/her, 60-something blacksmith), Joshua (he/him, quarter-elf fighter with minor nature magic and a massive crush), and Elas (they/them, elf sorcerer who is mildly (read: Very) cursed) & their adventures. Originally this was gonna be high fantasy, then it was gonna be lighthearted high fantasy, and now its gone in the exact opposite direction into high fantasy except much sadder than the original. Its about Death trying to stop a war between the gods that a wizard is trying to start, because the wizard wants to become one. (the goddess of death is called Illa. she's inspired by the Raven Queen in d&d).
UNNAMED, aka Enna's Prequel (PREV: Angel's Daughters) (#wip: ennas prequel)
By the time they were 19 years old, Enna and Anne Helder-Kromlin had been accused of murder once, imprisoned at least three times, and orphaned twice. By the time they were forty, those numbers would be changed to six, fourteen, and one, respectively. They had only ever actually committed four of the murders they were accused of, as Enna liked to remind people. Unfortunately, they had also been the targets of a blood feud, gotten kidnapped then almost killed by a necromancer, and twice had to go into hiding.
This is the backstory of Anne and Enna. Its set approx. 10-20 years before Frost & Fire, and it shows how they ended up where they are now, and their adventures. This is directly based off the original d&d campaign I played with Enna as my PC, and the main plot elements are a necromancer named Eleanor, a murdered brother, blood feuds (of a sort), and various other things. This is unnamed. It was previously called Angel's Daughters, but that rather spoiled the ending.
Silence and Secondhand Souls (#wip: silence and secondhand souls)
Fate is an interesting thing. Some doubt it even exists. Not me. Not anymore. Souls don’t rest until they’ve told their story, and I’ve got a long way to go yet. My friends are dead and so am I, haunting a narrative I never got a choice in. How exactly did that happen, you ask? Let me start at the beginning. Or the end, rather. I died when I was 21 years old.
Silence and Secondhand Souls is a first person POV story, narrated by Alexandra Rovenowa. She is dead. This is the story of how she died, set seventy years or so before Frost & Fire. It is also the story of how history likes to repeat itself, and how sending kids on quests for the sake of the world is bad, and of a kind Death, despite it all. (This is my most dramatic wip. Its a tragedy, and I really, really like it.) This does not have a current wip intro.

For the ask game, 95, 76 and 52? Thanks!
Hi! Thanks for the ask!
52: In what ways does your oc cope with anger? How easily angered are they? Do they lash out?
I'll answer for *pulls out random wheel generator with all their ocs names in it* Dash Galendel. He isn't very easily angered, mostly a very calm person. Unless you hurt his sister. Since he has shadow magic, and that's powered by emotions, he tends to cope with anger by bottling it up for later use (Like he did when he was fighting dragons every week, though it wasn't a very healthy coping mechanism), or by having a pillow fight with someone. Generally his sister. He doesn't lash out.
76: What is/was your oc’s relationship with their family like? Was it happy, tense, or abusive? What living family does your oc currently have, if any?
Enna- She has a very complicated family relationship. Her mother died about 3 days after Enna was born, and so Enna never knew her and was raised by a Gnome named Pike Helder and her adoptive daughter/Enna's sister, Mae Helder. Also a gnome. PIke died when Enna was 11. Enna had a brother, Zibra Kromlin, who died when she was 20 and he was 24. She also has a long lost sister, Alexa, who is her half sister and she (when she finds out) gets on fairly well with her. Alexa is alive. Enna's father is an Clestial (angel) who was imprisoned for the first half of Enna's life (42 years), and she ony got to know him after that, but they get along. Enna also has a twin sister, Anne Helder-Kromlin. Since they're soul bound (Elven twins are weird!), they get along very well.
Finally, Enna's aunt is a fallen angel. A devil. She's nice. And actually Enna's favorite relative past Anne & Zibra.
95: How is your oc about keeping someone else’s secret? Are they the gossiping type, are do they hold true on their promise to keep things quiet?
Anne- She is very good at secrets. She runs a thieves guild (Oleski). Secrets are her job. She'll hold true to her promise.

9 and 14 for whatever characters you want! :D - @written-in-gold
So I'm very sorry that i forgot about this ask for a month but I still have the link to the game and thank you for the ask!
I'll answer this for Dash/Redari (he has two names. It's complicated).
9. How easily does your oc trust others? Any particular reason why? How trustworthy are they themselves?
Pretty easily, mostly because he hasn't been horribly betrayed like some of the less trusting ocs I have.
And he's very trustworthy, he'll keep any secret you tell him unless absolutely necessary.
14. What is your oc’s speech like? How loud are they usually? Do they have an accent or a stutter?
Dash's speech is very formal, very grammatically correct and stuff. Only when he's trying though. If he isn't it's very rough and choppy, because that's how Dragon grammar works and he thinks in Dragon/Elven (Sometimes). He has an accent because his first language is Elven and his second is Dragon, so Common is his third and I don't really have a proper real world equivalent for it but it's sorta south african in accent? Idk. He talks quietly, but he can be loud if he needs to be.

Viez grinned. “Why hello there! I do looove making new friends. Unless your an enemy.” Her eyes physically darkened to black for a moment before returning to the cheery blue she had bumped into you in. “So. I hear you like writing? And you do it consistently? Do your OCs ever decide whether or not you write a lot or a little from day to day?”
Hi, Viez! Thanks for the ask! (No, Not an enemy. Unless you have something against redheads?!)
Sometimes. If I'm about to write something sad (Say Ana & Dash finding out their father has lied to them their entire life) I'll put it off, because I don't want to torment them. Since, ya know, they've lost their mother (Who also lied to them), in Ana's case her husband, their friends, entire family, and majority of their village... except for Cerea. She's still alive.
--
For now.
--
That came off darker than intended. She won't die. I can promise that. I mean, she's the only one of the trio that hasn't died in one draft or another.
--
Yes Ana died (In a draft where Zane existed... I'm sorry).
And Dash died. He was a ghost, actually.
--
My previous drafts are weird. Very Weird.

@writeblrsummerfest
I don't which WIP I'll use so lets introduce all 3 of them (The three announced ones, at least):
Frost & Fire (Book 1) and Silver & Swords (Book 2): Set in a high fantasy world the first Dragon War ended 16 years ago, and the second is about to begin. Narrated by Dash Galendel, who's half dragon. Which could very easily get him killed. Follows him and his friends (and siblings!) as they try to stop Dizerdrat (Dragon that wants to rule the world) from destroying everything. May contain some amount of grief, rivals-to-friends-to-lovers, sorrow, who countries getting destroyed, elves, and dragons. Also two people are are the daughters of an angel.
Assassin's Code: Set in the same world, 35 years later. Third person POV. Eryn Mesk is an assassin who works for her younger half sister, the Queen. The NIghtblades (Assassin's Guild) and the Adventurer's guild have been waging silent war on each other for 3 years. Until one night, when a guildhouse burns down (No people were harmed) and the entire country knows about it. Then Eryn's secret is revealed by an unknown source. She is the eldest daughter of the former king of Bryn, the product of his affair. And that makes her sister's claim to the crown invalid. Contains daggers, half-elves, and grumpy captains of the guard.
Nine's a Storm: Pirates! Lots of Pirates! (Set in the same world, about 2 decades before the first dragon war) When her ship gets caught in a hurricane, Captain Starr and her crew have no choice but to ride it out. Then they get sucked down a portal to a parallel dimension, where the sea elven kingdom of Mortia never fell, and a woman named Sariel Saddendiel rules the deep. But Starr's real name is Sariel Saddendiel, and she is the last of the Saddendiels. Contains Pirates, daggers, a ship named Lightning, and also parallel planes of existence. Oh, and the same person meeting themself from a different timeline.
Today, we’re going to get our roadtrip prepped and ready to go. Let’s do this by getting to know each other a little bit more!
Reblog this post and introduce your WIP to everyone! Tag this blog in your response so it can be shared!

Andromeda - Describe your main characters
Hi, and thanks for the ask!
Andromeda - Describe your main characters
Now i have to figure out who qualifies as MCs
Enna- Short, blue, and also a fan of daggers. Likes archery and is very good at it. Grumpy and with a lot of guilt, suprisingly not from the actual crimes she's committed. A literal criminal and the daughter of an elf and an angel.
Anne- Short, also blue, and Enna's Twin. Likes stabbing things with her short swords and is excellent at it. Less guilt, but still some. Runs a thevies guild, so also a criminal. Daughter of an Elf and an Angel.
Ana- Very short (4' 11'), silver and blue, twin. Has a talking sword named Jerry. Hates fire. Daughter of an Elf and a Dragon.
Redari/Dash- 4' 10" (Shorter than his sister, but only just), scales, twin of Ana. Shadow Sorcerer. Pointed ears. Son of an Elf and a Dragon.
Zerve- 5' 1", Ana & Dash's sibling. Scales, framed for murder at least once. Works for Bryn. Child of an Elf and a Dragon.

Question 6: August 5, 2021
OC: Dash Galendel (Frost & Fire)
Question: What does your character think about their past? Are they proud of their past actions? Do they regret much about their past?
Answer:
Dash wishes he hadn't run when he had; that he had stayed behind. He blames himself for his mother dying; he blames himself just as much as Ana blames herself.
He's not proud of the fact that he ran. He regrets it. He did find his father, imprisoned in Shadow. But then he got himself imprisoned there too. And Ana had to come and save them. She did not stop teasing him about it for several decades. But also that's when he heard about A'sshye. He heard about his mother's death 90 years after it happened. And he wishes he was there, but also he knows he didn't understand his own power then and he could do nothing about it. He regrets nothing except that. Well he regrets stabbing Ana, but he was also possessed by a devil at the time. And he was 11. It's not his fault.

Hi! For your wip, Frost & Fire, where did you get the idea for it? I sense a bit of d&d inspiration; did you originally plan frost and fire to be a d&d story, or was the story just influenced by the game?
What's one thing that Dash loves (like something he's passionate about) but would never confess to it?
Thanks! And also Hi!
For the first question, I got the idea at first because I wanted to continue with my D&D characters in a world where they all knew each other, and I decided to write it down so I took the main villain from one of the campaigns since he was the one with the most motivation to try to take over the world and made him the antagonist. So the personalities and backgrounds and lives are the same as the characters I created for dnd, but changed since I aged up everyone. In the dnd world Dash & Ana are 127, in this world they're 301 but the stuff that happened in the dnd world still happened to them. Anne & Enna should be 42, instead they're 97.
Long story short, it was inspired and influenced (Heavily) by D&D
And for the second question: Dash loves teaching. He'll never admit it, but its his favorite thing to do.

👋 for Cerea?
Thanks!
👋-Write your character saying goodbye to another character (of your choice) who is moving far away.
-------
Characters: Cerea Roven & Dash (Redari) Galendel (I put the remaining 4 into a random spinner wheel and got Dash)
POV: Third Person
Word Count: 79
TW/CW: None!
Note: Dash & Redari are the exact same person, Cerea uses Redari instead of Dash because she's not used to using the translation.
------
"Redari- Dash, sorry- I'm gonna miss you, you know. You'd better write me. Still don't know why you're moving back to Bryn. I know Zerve's there, but still. You could just stay here. Who else am I supposed to compare magic related notes with? Anyways, be careful. I know Dizerdrat is gone but we thought that 19 years ago and look where that got us. So, Dash, good luck. I mean it. And don't you dare forget to write."

I would love for you to infodump about your OCs with your smashed banana brain lol. Whether publicly or PM me. 🖤
*excited vibrating* :D THANK YOU FOR ASKING I GET AN EXCUS OT RAMBLE TO ABOUT THIS RANDOM THING NOW!!!!!
okay yes ill do it here because that's easier if i do it all in one thing, answer the ask and then infodump, here's the oddly specific info from my smashed banana brain and it may not be coherent but *shrugs*. It shall only be one thing but its a thing i never talk about so anyway:
okay so elves have weird naming conventions that I never talk about, but here's what i wrote in my notes app about it months ago:
At birth elves are given a child name, which is changed at their 100th birthday to an adult name. Child names are usually one syllable, and can represent a shortened version of the name they will recover as an adult. People who knew the elf as a child will sometimes still call them by their child name even as they are an adult (such as parents, close friends, and siblings). The changing of names in preformed in a special ceremony by their parent(s) at moon/sunhigh on the elf's 100th birthday. Half elves can also be treated like this, though the ceremony is preformed on their 50th birthday because of their shorter lifespans and only with the permission of parents & of half elf in question. This only happens if they are raised by an elf or among elves.
okay so basically Ana & Dash/Redari got separated from their parents before they turned 100 (they were 27. Elves are kids/teenagers until they turn 100), so technically they still have child names, and normally if they got separated from their parents a member of the community would perform it, but the entire community was kinda wiped out (whoops), except for their dad and Cerea, and Cerea didn't know that they were alive for several hundred years and anyway she can't do it because she's actually younger than them (by 7 years).
and their dad can't do it because hes not an elf! so! angst!
basically they gave themselves the names Anastrannia & Redari (child names being Ana & Ari) but legally they still have their child names! also those are the names their parents were going to give them (well if said children agreed. there's a process. many permission slips required. like school trips or something). They asked their dad.
i have to rework that slightly but thats the base of it!
oh also the meaning of their names are Amethyst and Dash. And dash does progressively start going by Redari throughout the book.

Hello, hello, and happy world building wednesday.
So, I love dragons, and I was wondering if you could pretty please ramble a bit more about the dragons in your WIP. I'd love to hear more about the ones that throw hot cocoa at kings and accidentally curse adventurers to be unhelpful talking swords. ^^
Hi!!! Thanks for the ask!
Dragons in general
There are basically two types of dragons, Frost dragons & Fire dragons (Hence the WIP title) and they're named after their breath weapons. Frost & Fire. Frost dragons have scales that are either White, Silver, Gray, Platinum, or Blue. Fire dragons have scales that are either Black, Copper, Brass, Gold, Green, or Red.
In the first dragon war, in which the Fire dragons fought under Dizerdrat to overthrow the world governments and rule it themselves, the Frost (And copper) dragons sided with the humanoids, with a few exceptions on either side.
Dragons can naturally shapeshift into human/elven/dwarven/etc forms, and they use this to blend in among the mortals. They are also, effectively, immortal. They live thousands upon thousands of years and they are incredibly hard to kill.
Famous Dragons
Gilanthas Gilanthas is a Silver Frost Dragon who married an Elf and had three children with her, Redari (Dash), Anastasia, and Zerve Galendel. He surivied the dragon wars and sided with the humans, and his best friend got accidently trapped in a sword.
The former Archmage of Bryn (aka Edward) This is the one who threw hot chocolate at a monarch and got away with it. He's fun. Copper dragon, didn't pick a side in the war because he couldn't be bothered to leave retirement, and an incredibly powerful wizard. Also a side character in my former NaNo wip, A Dragon's Apprentice. He's also the one who, through the fact that he sneezed in the middle of casting a spell and messed up the hand motions because he was the dragon equivalent of 14, accidentally trapped Jerry inside a sword.
Dizerdrat The very evil one who tried to take over the world and started the first Dragon War. Also killed Ana & Dash's entire hometown. Red Fire dragon.
Shallodet White Frost dragon. Grumpy, evil, and tried to destroy Halmire fifty years before Frost & Fire. The first dragon Enna ever killed.

@arigalefantasynovels you sent this ask to my main (or at least it looks that way), I'm not sure if you meant to send it there or it was accidental, but I'll answer this here since this is my writeblr!
I'm actually thinking I might need to reclassify that, but I'm not sure. One of Copper (a new one, I need to add dit to the post) is defidently found family though, so if you want I can tell you about that too- Anyway.
So some of them are actually related, b theut here goes:
Enna and Anne Helder-Kromlin are twin half elf half celestial sisters, who are thevies and Anne runs a thevies guild. Enna helps. They're both 97. Their relationship is a bit complicated, but their shared past involves necromancy, various dead mothers and a brother who were killed by their uncle, and several decades of murder, thievery, stabbing, and pranks on each other.
Anstrannia "Anastasia" & Redari "Dash" Galendel are twin half dragon, half elf siblings. Their father is a frost (silver) dragon. Redari is a shadow sorcerer and Ana was a Drakewarden ranger (she used to have a house dragon. She uh, died in the first dragon war), but now she's a regular ranger, with a bit of Shadow magic. They're 301, and their shared history involves the realm of the dead, which is called Shadow, several dragons and also an adventure involving even more dragons.
Zerve Galendel is Ana & Redari's older sibling. They're 450 ish, and Ana & Dash didn't know they existed until a fourth of the way through the story, because their death was faked against their will when the twins were about seven. They're a person of slightly major vague importantance in the army of Bryn (I don't know their actual rank. I had it, but I lost the note), and I need to flesh out the backstory so there we go!
That's all of the main cast, and they start out as pretty good friends at the beging of the story and they end out sorta of more than that but not and I'm not really sure if it's found family or not at the end of it. I need to do more character building. Maybe write a couple one shots set after the story. Idk.
Anyway, that's it! I hope that explained it well enough, and let me know if there's anything else you would want to know!

Hello again. Your stories sound really cool. Can I hear more about the Frost & Fire one?
I love dragons
I also love dragons
Hello again anon!
So I might be revamping a tiny bit of the plot once I hit draft 2, but! The bare bones of it are that there are some people. These people include two sets of twins. One of those sets of twins is Enna and Anne Helder-Kromlin, twin half-elf, half celestials (their dad was an angel. Then he lost his immortality in order to get out of a trap someone put him in) thevies. Anne runs a thevies guild. Enna Helps. They're 97. They look like this (Anne has the blue hair, Enna the black) (they only sometimes have wings) and I couldn't do it on this picrew but the both have a streak in their hair of the hair color the other twin has.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The other set is Anastrannia/Anastasia & Redari/Dash Galendel, twin half-elf, half-dragons. One of them is a former Drakewarden Ranger and now a Shadow Ranger (Ana) (her drake died) and one of them is a Shadow Sorcerer who's magic used to be draconic (Dash). Both of them are over three hundred years old! They look like this, and on Ana's arm and torso she had some scales, and on Dash's leg and back he has some scales. They also both have silver tipped hair (I think) from their draconic parentage. (Dash is the one with the earrings, Ana is the one with the lizard).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These people are the most relevant of the main charchters. There is also Ana & Dash's older sibling, Zerve. I do not have a picrew handy for them, and I actually don't have a perfect idea of what they look like anyway.
These five, and a couple others, get roped into fighting in a war, mostly from the back end. Enna & Anne because their father is king (through a convoluted series of events involving a magical selection process and the death of the former king), and Ana & Dash because their father, a dragon, is really involved in the war that the dragons have been fighting for centuries, and has now spilled over into the human world.
It's interesting! The original idea for it was 'what if a ton of my DnD charchters met and had to stop some sort of massive disaster?!'
If Tumblr tags/search function decide to work, anything I've posted about it will be under [#wip: frost & fire].

Frost & Fire Mini Update
Draft one is now 16 pages long in google docs (Font size 12, except for chapter titles, which are 18, single spaced) and over 6.5k words!
*insert happy dancing here*
In celebration, here's another little excerpt bit from chapter 4!
Frost & Fire Taglist so they can see the excerpt if they want (Ask to be +/-): @gr3y-heron @golden-eyed-writer @writing-is-a-martial-art @magic-is-something-we-create @thelaughingstag
Word Count: 636
TW/CW: Fire, mentions of panic attacks (Sorta? It's vaguly mentioned, so I'm not sure if I need to tag it or not but better safe than sorry i guess), mentions of death (In passing, it isn't huge)
-X-X-X-
“Don’t lie, elf. I smell four others.”
“Fine,” grumbled Enna, stepping out of the grass. “Nice to see you again, Izorith. Last time I saw you my sister had a sword to your neck.” Enna signed fast as she and the others talked, making sure to keep in Ross’ line of sight. He couldn’t read lips on a dragon, and this way he wouldn’t be left out.
Ross stepped forward, signing, “You bastard.”
Enna translated (Sorta), “He says it’s wonderful to see you again too.”
Dash and Cerea moved forward, moving as one, fingers still twinned together. “Dash Galendel. You helped kill my mother.”
Enna nodded appreciatively. That was one hell of an introduction. Cerea’s was almost as good. “Cerea Roven. You burned my entire family.”
Izorith sighed, small bursts of flame coming from his nostrils. “Londori, I take it? What do you want, elflings?”
“Seven days ago there was an attack on Halmire and the seven kingdoms the night of the anniversary ball,” Began Eryn.
Enna picked it up. “The attacker was a dragon; a red dragon.”
Cerea finished the story. “Do you know anything about this; did you violate the peace?”
The laugh started low in his chest, rising until it burst out of his mouth in a noise like thunder, accompanied by licks of flame. "Elf, I was not the one who ordered that attack. But I won't refute it. You deserved that attack as much as Londori deserved the attack that destroyed it."
Dash muttered, "It wasn't Londori."
"What did you say, elfling?"
Dash turned his head up to meet the eyes of Izorith. "I said, 'it wasn't Londori'. Think."
The dragon's face made a sort of puzzled expression that would have looked strange on any human face.
Finally his eyes widened and both of his red-green eyes slid to Dash. "A'sshye." He growled. It wasn't a question. "Which means you are-"
Dash cut him off. "Gilanthas' son? Yes. Nice to meet you."
Izorith growled low in his throat, the sound rising and bursting out of his mouth along with a 20 foot long jet of flame.
Enna rolled out of the way, half considering flying just to get out of range. Cerea yanked Dash out of the way and Eryn dodged it, dashing towards the treeline for cover. Ross, who hadn't heard the growl but had still seen the scales on the underside of Izorith's neck light up as he prepared to fire, ducked underneath the initial stream, then rolled out of the way of the rest.
By the time the blast had cleared- the ground scorched and a dark line now running through the meadow- Izorith was in the air, out of range of everything but Enna's arrows, and her arm was still not completely healed, even if she had brought them.
"Well that went not at all according to plan." Grumbled Enna.
"Well, sorry, Enna. Next time I'll try to not be half-dragon." Said Dash, the adrenaline from the encounter still coursing through him, even as he was still shaking with anxiety and panic (That did calm down a bit now that the dragon was gone, but he was still clearly rattled).
"He would have figured it out sooner or later. Izorith may not be the brains of the operation, but he isn't stupid. Better to reveal it on out terms than have it revealed and it be a surprise to us." Said Cerea, defending Dash.
"Fair enough. Still."
Eryn was studying Dash, her lavender eyes roving up and down before settling on his eyes. They were dragon's eyes, bright blue and shot through with silver, with vertical pupils. Normally they were hidden by an illusion, but he must have dropped it during the fire blast.
"Huh. So you're half-dragon?"
Dash nodded wearily.
"Nice eyes. Never noticed them before."

But one day an old friend that they had thought dead turns up and brings news. The forges that were used by Dizerdrat in the Dragon War are relighting for the first time in a decade and a half. As the peace they had worked so hard to achieve is blow apart by the reappearance of an old enemy Dash and his friends are thrust back into the deadly frontier of Aqurah and a world that they had hoped to leave behind 16 years ago. A world of ashes and tears; of silver scales and telepathic swords; of frost and fire.

Excerpts:
I wasn’t a sword then. I adventured with Gil when I was in my twenties and he was around 100. ‘Course I didn’t know he was a dragon then. Nita was a part of the party too. She knew his secret before any of the rest of us did, we all just thought he was a really good fighter who happened to have no social skills and a very obvious crush. “Jerry, they met around 50 years before we were born. Didn’t you get stuck in the sword around six hundred years ago? So two and a half centuries before Mum and Dad met?” Aye, I did. They met in 867, not 1124. Makes sense why they would lie, I would hide that bit of my past too. “What do you mean, ‘hide that bit of their past’?” Asked Ana. Not mine to tell. Ask Gil about Zerve if you really want to know, though I don’t think he’ll take the reminder well.

Also in celebration:
Excerpt time!
Below the cut is an (Unedited, so you are warned and I am sorry) excerpt from Chapter 7, in which Zerve has finally showed up and now I get to write them except it isn't going as well as anyone hoped, Dash & Ana are fighting, and also there is the slight problem with a dragon who wants to take over the world.
Word Count: 819
~~~~~~
Ana went pale. My father looked almost transparent, so much blood had left his face.
Cerea mouthed, 'oh', eyes widening until they were as big as saucers.
That person, in the armor, with silver and black hair, was quite possibly my sibling.
"Uh," I said after a long moment. "You wouldn't happen to be the Zerve Galendel that died 450 years ago, would you?"
"Why do you ask? And I am certainly not dead."
"Because," I sighed. "My last name is Galendel. And so is hers." I added, pointing at Ana.
"Well shit. You must be my replacements. Pleased to meet you." And they turned on their heel and walked away. Enna groaned, "Lanri save me from proud Elves," and chased after them. I'm not sure what she said to get the Commander to come back but she said something that worked.
Commander Galendel came stalking back, face livid and eyes hard.
"Alright. I'm here only for the sake of our countries mutual survival. Tell me what you need to do and I'll get out and end the awkward family reunion."
Cessari looked at his daughters, who nodded agreement. "Okay then. What we need is plain and simple. We need reinforcements. Halmire can't take on Dizerdrat on her own. We need help. Is Bryn's Army willing to help us?"
"Give me thirty seconds." The Commander spoke quickly into a stone, presumably one modified to cast Message. They got a response seconds later, though the little of the voice I could hear sounded irritated and tired, which made sense. Bryn was far enough away that it was late into the evening there now.
"The Queen says 'Yes, Bryn will help you'. Where do we start?"
"We start with a plan."
-X-X-X-
Thirty minutes later we were all gathered back in the war room, much like we had been two and a half weeks ago. It was more crowded this time, standing room only.
Neither of the previous ambassadors were anywhere to be seen. Seated three people to a side, we were in close quarters around the square table.
Starting with me, on my left was Lei then Theo, on the next side was Ana, Cerea, and my father. The third side held the baron, his closest advisor- Geoff Kraghammer of Der Bulder- and the new commander, Zerve. The final side had Enna, Anne, and Grandfather. Anne didn't strictly have clearance to attend this meeting, but she would sneak in somehow anyway so it was better to have her just here.
Mae probably should have been there, but she wasn't. Only one druid allowed at a meeting. Druid's Council law. Faith and her were probably in the secret passage between this room and Oleski headquarters. I was 100% not supposed to know about that one.
A large map of Aqurah was spread out on the table, with little figures representing each army. One figure stood for 1000 soldiers, approximately. They were the colors of each country, Halmire blue and silver and Bryn black and white.
Qu, the archmage, floated in the corner, still perched on his hand-stool.
And me? I sat in my chair, tossing a small ball of shadows between my fingertips. It was calming. Drew some odd looks from my apparent sibling, but it was calming and I also didn't care.
"So." Said Enna, letting her single word hung in the air.
"What do we do?"
"We figure out where he is planning to strike first."
Enna pulled a dagger out of it's sheathe and stabbed it into the map directly over the Gundar Forest. "Here. It's the last great stronghold of the elves, and he knows that if that's destroyed we loose all military support from them. Then he'll hit the Dwarves, probably Der Bulder first and then the other strongholds that are exposed. Finally he'll hit us, and he'll ignore Bryn because it's across the ocean. No offense," She added, glancing at the Commander.
"None taken. Isn't my home country at any rate."
"Right," Enna nodded slowly. "About that-"
"No."
"Okay then. Any idea folks, or are we just letting the person with no proper military experience whatsoever plan out a war?"
Ana laughed. "No, we're just being quiet. I agree with you, we need to warn A'ssh- er, Celmari. Who's going to do that?"
"I will." Said Anne.
"We are not sending anyone alone." Stated the Baron. "Anne, I swear I'm not just saying this because I'm your father, but you are not going alone. Find someone to go with you. This rule stands for everyone, by the way."
"Fine, dad. Theo, want to come help me warn an ancient Elven civilization of impending doom? Someone who speaks Elven would be nice."
"Sure," Said the human. "I could use a good fight."
"Wonderful. And who's going to warn Der Bulder?"
