Car Life magazine summed up the 340 in its 1969 road test: "Swinger is a budget-semi-Supercar, a compact with a factory-tweaked mid-range engine, four-speed transmission and stiffened suspension, but without the usual accessories that run the price up." With a suggested retail price starting at $2,819, the Swinger 340 substantially undercut the more kitted-out GTS's $3,209 price of entry. But calling the 340 a "factory-tweaked mid-range engine" misses the point of the most potent of the small-block Chryslers. You'd never have found a 340 in a wagon, taxicab, or other run-of-the-mill Mopar as you would virtually every other engine available, save for the Hemi. The 340 was strictly a high-performance mill. There was no two-barrel, economy-minded version. There wasn't even a mild version with a four-barrel! All 340s in 1969 came with a forged crankshaft, a double-roller timing chain, a high-performance camshaft, a four-barrel carburetor, dual exhaust, and an unsilenced air cleaner. Week #2 was a blast and is now a wrap! Here’s a look at this week’s prompts.

Day #7 was “Enchanted,” which made me think of the enchanted Ford Anglia from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

This sketch was a bit of a risk because of the perspective – it’s shot from below so half the car is the bottom. It was a fun challenge but I really didn’t care for the way this one turned out.…

#oldschoolusdmhunter find for the day, a '71 #dart! This was a Top Banana/Citron Yella Swinger, look at the fender, you can see the holes for the swinger badge. This was an LA-Built car, 318 powered, and judging by the VIN, likely a second or third quarter car. You guys know how I dig stock wheel covers. #dodge #dartswinger #mopar
